Is anyone going to watch this disaster movie tonight on ABC? Come on B-Side, we'd appreciate a live blogging of this epic disaster. Grant it, it lacks vampire bats, locusts, and Lucy Lawless BUT it has cute birds with a killer infectious disease. It deserves to be blogged! Is it sad that I've been looking forward to this movie? I'm waiting for an outbreak of hilarity to ensue!

The radio and news stations here in Richmond VA have been talking about this darn movie all day. It's apparently set here and portrays us Richmonders as a bunch of panicky idiots. The mayor and everyone has been telling us that they have secret plans in case of an outbreak and they have 9 schools set up as "disaster zones." I'm like, seriously. This city cracks me up.
I am watching Veronica Mars...but I would be curious to see the movie!!

I was watching Veronica Mars too. How could a freakin' bird flu movie even compare?

WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE! WE'RE ALL GONNA...what's that?
It's a sweeps stunt? There's very little chance of this ever happening? A country couldn't refuse to share the vaccine? We have emergency powers to product patented drugs if it's a national emergency? No virus is 100 percent lethal...even ebola?
Oh, never mind.
Oh, and mad props to the 15 second disclaimer at the end of the show that basically negated the whole previous broadcast. Kinda like saying "this is true...um, this COULD happen...um, okay, we made all this up."
Nothing like scaring middle America.

Well... it was France... so in retaliation, the U.S. should start making Freedom Vaccine.

I had to give props to the 30 second disclaimer at the end with the actress on the soundstage reassuring us about the bird flu... it was so like:

Exactly! I love irresponsible TV!
The local ABC affiliate followed it up with grave announcer talk about what Arizona would do about the Bird flu...then it dawned on the Happy Talkers that nothing would happen. Because we have no birds. It's too damn hot!
