So, last night's season finale was like primetime Passions. There was a mental hospital escape, a child from a one-night stand 12 years ago, and a wacko dentist randomly on purpose running over the plumber. Oh and Carlos is doing the maid. It's getting so...cliched.

Yeah, pretty bad. The only part that seemed remotely genuine was when Lynette told Tom that she had let him go. Gaby's maid listening to her and staying there? What? Like Carlos wouldn't tell her to go with him. I am looking forward to crazy Zach with the millions.

I used to tune into this show every Sunday but then i felt like it was polluting my brian.. i mean i am all for television that could not possibly be real but is entertaining but this was just too much drama to swalllow in one week... hope they tone it down next season!

Wow. The premiere was great I have to say. Marcia Cross just needs a damn Emmy already. I really hope they keep it up. It seems like there's some new blood in the production department.

I have to agree that it was much better than any episode from last season...but I'm still hesitant to put it back on my must-watch list...fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

It was pretty good - but not great. I am already tired of the "love child" storyline and we are only one ep into the new season. I also want Eva to go back to her darker hair - that blonde stuff just washes her out.

I thought the premier was pretty funny. I have to say I love the addition of the crazy baby-momma, that couple was too bland.

It seems as though the producers are getting the show back on track. Last year was terrible! This first episode was much better, and more in line with the first season.
I agree, Eva's hair does wash her out.
I really hope that Orson doesn't turn out to be another nut case, hasn't Bree been with enough nut case's? I heard they were not writing her real life pregnancy into the storyline. Also, no mention of her son? Will he be back this year?

Did anyone see tonight's episode? It was so funny. Eva Longoria gets the best lines though.

I loved it when Carlos was trying to break in and she called the cops and told them, "Could you have them come armed? I think he's Mexican." She probably told the writers to put that in the script or something. Remember when she got into trouble for shouting racial slurs to a Mexican cop? She probably wanted to make fun of it.

I think that was the best line of the night. I was actually just telling someone about it today but it's not as funny as when Gabby says it. And her physical comedy had me cracking up, too. She's so tiny that when the cop was trying to stuff her in the car or Carlos was trying to get her out of his car, it looked ridiculous and I laughed out loud at both scenes.

So tonight's ep started with a montage of people utilizing the art of sabatoge. And I think Major Victory from Who Wants to be a Superhero had a cameo as a husband who's cable was cut before the big game.

Yeah, I almost cried, too! I thought I was just being a wuss. It was a really good episode. They way they showed how the characters crossed paths at the grocery store was fun. Although, I did think the ending was a little dumb. Lynette was having dreams about feeling responsible for Mary Alice's death. She kinda was responsible for getting Nora shot. So, by killing your arch nemesis, you assuage your feelings of guilt over the first death? I don't get it. Shouldn't she be feeling doubly bad right now?

chick110
11-06-2006, 05:18 AM
From the previews, I really thought that Lynette was the one that got shot. I didn't get a clue that Nora would be the one to go. At least she was nicer to Lynette at the end. Thought it was funny that Susan stole that megaphone and tried to talk crazy woman into switching Susan with her daughter.

Missed the beginning, thanks to TAR running over. What WAS going on with Laurie Metcalf's husband and Edie in the office? Thanks to Edie opening her mouth, LM went even more nutso...

Loved the show last night, and I got a little teary-eyed. I thought it was just me being a baby again so it's good to know you all are babies, too.

I thought it was weird that Susan wasn't more upset. Did anyone else think she seemed awfully calm? If it were my daughter in there, I'd be freaking out.

I'm not really sorry to see The Babe go, but now we'll have the daughter move in with Lynette and Tom and I think I just don't care about that story line.

I didn't think she was responsible at all for getting Nora shot.
The message of the dream sequence was that you can't prevent what you can't predict. It addressed why she shouldn't feel bad for either death.

Who was the actress that played Orson's mom? She looked so familiar but with all that botoxy stuff, she could have been anyone old and who would know?

CREEPY about the new guy on the block. Those pics were just too awful. And all of those toys--OMG, who WOULDN'T want to hang out there? :(

It was sad/funny about Gaby having to model as a mom. I'm sure she could have gotten some catalog modelling--a lot of models that were hot when they were younger started doing catalogs once the young started wearing off...

Tired of Susan's storyline. Hate Edie's step-son, hate him liking Julie, hate Susan's ex taking everyone's side but Susan. Hate Mike for being so bland--I miss MIKE. Gag, he's like white bread now. I miss the mystery and sneakiness around him. :(

chick110, i thot that actress looked really familiar but I couldn't remember who she was so I looked her up & the name still isn't familiar: Dixie Carter? I looked it up on IMDB and the only movie/TV show i recognized was Designing Women, she played Julia Sugarbaker. Wonder what she did to make Orson hate her so???

I never saw that twist w/the new neighbor coming, ewww, disturbing! I actually felt a li'l bad for Lynette's devil spawn in this episode. And no way would they ever make Gabriel a 'mom' in some photo spread---a catalog or other like you said is more likely.

jampony
11-13-2006, 03:03 PM
I thought this episode was going great (love the Orson/mom secret thing) until the end when Lynette didn't call the cops on her pedophiliac neighbor. What mother in her right mind would not have called the police after seeing his basement with all the toys and the pictures?!? Or at least immediately gone to the sex offenders registry to look the sicko up and warn every parent in the neighborhood. I'm nervous about where this story line is going, what with Lynette convincing Parker to trust Protector Man and Parker already having been in the neato keen basement and probably wanting to go back again. Maybe even bringing a friend along? I don't even want to think about it.

PS: You all make me feel old... I recognized Dixie Carter immediately. I even remember her from Diff'rent Strokes!

Ness

I am with you Jampony, I would have ran Straight to the police after I got out that house. Hell I wouldn't leave the area until the guy was out of the neighborhood.

I am already over that Julie and Edie jr. story, that whole thing with Carl doing the bad cop thing was too ridiculous. I didn't find it funny at all, just stupid.

chick110
11-14-2006, 01:59 PM
I used to watch Designing Women and I still didn't recognize Dixie Carter.

I'm guessing Lynette didn't want to get charged with trespassing or something because legally, she shouldn't have been in his house. If it were me, I'd risk going to jail if it meant that creep would be around my kids.

Well, well, well. Just when I'm ready to turn this bland, predictable show off, Mike goes out and buries his toolbox. If he doesn't have any memory, why would he be burying that?

Thought it was funny when Carlos and (whatever the hell Doug Savant's character's name is) were over at Mike's watching TV. But it was sad when he realized that Carlos wasn't actually his best friend.

i thought the whole bree storyline was dumb dumb dumb. i dont know how they are going to make susan look pregnant cause she is so stick thin. i'm intrigued by the new neighbors but at the same time i dont really care. the carlos & gabi storyline could be complicated. maybe i'll continue to watch just so i can bitch about how much i dont like it. anyone want to disagree with me??

Okay - I'll risk ridicule by admitting I watched it. I didn't think it was too bad. Nothing earth shatteringly good, either. I think the writers gave us too many clues about the new family... but not enough to care, yet. (At least the daughter is nice to look at.) Thought Bree and the magic fork was a bit slapstick and out of character. Overall, I'd rate it a B- and lower it two places on my DVR series recording list.

Speaking of the new guy, what do you think about this new family? They have that mysterious isssue with the attic. It's almost too familiar to the mysterious basement situation Alfre Woodard had.

I agree with Julie - I don't think that girl is the same girl she was the last time they lived on Wisteria Lane. And New Red might have a fight on her hands if she tries to cut down Bree's pine tree.

I agree, I think Dylan isn't their real daughter. But is Adam her father (or the father of the missing Dylan)? Because I thought it was weird when Katherine was upstairs by the attic and Adam asked "is this the room?" If he had lived there before, wouldn't he have known?

You are probably right about the comic releif. Tuc Watkins is hilarious so they will probably write them as the funny, normal couple on the block. Somebody's got to be halfway normal on that street don't they?
I don't know the other guy, but I hope they don't waste Tuc's skills with no storyline.

Yeah that Gabi - always great at making the best of a bad situation. I really enjoy her character. She and Carlos crack me up.

As for the new neighbors - I would probably have enjoyed them more without the whole "Wacky Susan" bit. I'm so completley over Susan.

I also could have done without Rex's Mom being back on the show. I love the actress but not in this particular role.

How did you like when Edie put two and two together with the crab cakes?

i am over susan as well. i wish they would stop with all the slapstick! i am also over Bree and her fake pregnancy.... boring. i think i really only like Bree when she is blackmailing someone.... or when she let the pharmacist guy die while she sat there.... she is just too fake a character for me.

i loved that they served them the crab cakes. too funny! The clap? the herp? the siph? (who the hell calls it the herp btw?)

i think i might have fallen asleep at the very end... did anything happen with the aunt or did she just take the bell and leave? i swore she was going to kill the aunt. My husband was in the room for that part when the aunt said she regretted what they did and his words were "ooo bye bye grandma!" LOL and he doesnt even watch the show!

TinkerbellAPixie
10-22-2007, 10:17 AM
She took the bell and left. The aunt tried to call Dylan, but Dylan was practicing her base and couldn't hear. The aunt looked at the side table and saw a pen and paper. She struggled over to it and wrote a note and folded it up and croacked. When she died the note fell out of her hand and onto the floor near the bed.

Cut to the closing montage and you see the aunt being zipped in her body bag and taken out of the room. The note is on the floor unnoticed.

Linette and Tom agreed that for one night it would be enough just to fool around as Tom and Linette rather than as Cancer Girl and Hero Hubs.

The Grandma had gone to the convent to spring Daniele.

I don't think she'll have a baby. Either they'll have her miscarry because of her age or she'll find out she's really in menopause and the doctor was wrong. A baby is a death sentence for any show. Oh, and I think Bree's daughter will keep the baby and live with her grandmother.

I'm not sure if the time frame fits but wasn't Bree's daughter having sex with the black guy too. I can't remember anybodys name right now. If the baby she's carrying turns out to be black, how would Bree explain that!? That would be funny!!!:scared:

That sounds like the exact thing these writers would do.

Bad typing or incredibly accurate nickname? She looks like she's oozin' something.

Thank you! And what is she oozin? BOTOX

LOVED the Halloween episode! Danielle's Bree costume even made up for Lynette's possum/cancer story or lame Susan meets Mike's dad in prison story.

Can't wait to see what Mr. Mayor will do now that he knows of Gabby and Carlos. Well-played, Edie (you fiesty little tranny), well-played.

I found it odd that the what'shername (the new redhead) and her frankenhubby would go to the halloween party after last week's fountain fight.

I agree that the Lanette/possum storyline was really stupid, and was pretty much a re-write of last week's treehouse story.

Shocked that Gaby turned down Carlos and his $10 mil. Not surprised at Edie though. I get the feeling that the Mayor is more angry with Gaby than with Carlos.

That was odd. Maybe they were just trying to save face... I dunno. But any scene that gives me more Nathan Fillion gets no complaints from me!

So Mike is a junky now?!? Although I can't blame him. I would have to swallow handfuls of pills just to get me through a day with Susan.

How can it be that nobody is talking about last night's episode? Is everyone over this show? Am I the only one still watching???

Well, I'll just talk to myself, then. No biggie. Wow, self, wasn't last night's episode great? I wonder who the two dead husbands are. Obviously the mayor, but is the second one Carlos or Tom? And what happened to Lynette's family? Is the whole basement gone? Oh and while I'm on the subject, Lynette, I hate you. You are the most selfish woman on the face of the earth and I sort of hope your husband is one of the dead ones. You don't deserve him.

I was surprised that they didn't have Susan lose the baby from that fall down the stairs. And that Mike so easily agreed to rehab. And that the crazy stalker of my boyfriend, Nathan Fillion, just FLEW out the door like that! That was cool!

So that was the season finale, right? It's only December and the show's over for the year. Sad.

Don't worry, jamp... I am still watching too!

Count me in to the "I hate Lynette's selfishness camp" too. Shoving her rowdy family uninvited in to the nice old ladies' card game... that is a heinous enough of a crime. But sneaking an old drunk woman's cat upstairs in the middle of a tornado... that is too much! Well, at least karma landed her a big old kick in the pants by laying her house flat. Lesson learned: never f*ck with old womens' cats!

All this talk about the tattoo with no evidence... I demand a shirtless Nathan Fillion! Can't this show take a lesson from Heroes and strip down there sexy male leads?

Seriously! Maybe we should start a campaign of some sort. But wait... besides our adorable Nathan, who else do you want to see shirtless? I'm not really all that excited about any of the other guys on this show. Except maybe for the two gay men who just moved in. They looked kind of fit.

So back to the show... you think it was Lynette's house that was flattened? I thought it was the old lady's house and that's why she was screaming like that; because her kids and Tom were still in it. When they saw the twister, it looked like they ran into Lynette's house. Damn those writers for always moving people's houses around; we won't know whose house is toast until next season.

Hmmmm.... you know... I think you are right! (And your theory makes a lot more sense of why Lynette was so upset) By the end up the show, I was on my third whiskey and tea (aka Roadtripper8's Super Cold Remedy) so things were a bit fuzzy.

Re: the shirtless husbands of Wisteria Lane. I guess shirtless Mike would do in a pinch too. Might make his character more interesting!

Okay I stayed away from this thread until I could watch the show.
I laughed my ass off when Mrs. McClusky told Lynette to put her kid upstairs in the closet since it "was safe". Then wanted to smack Lynette when she told Penny to "knock yourself out" or "have a ball" about beating crap with a spoon.
The nerve of that hideous woman insisting that she remove the cat because her weak whiney puss of a hubby has allergies! AND THEN.........to let said cat out INTO the storm?????? HATE.HATE.HATE.
They said at the start that one would lose a husband and they all would lose a friend. I'm pretty sure that Victor is DEAD. I think maybe the friend will be Ida the alcoholic cat lady.
I didn't realize this is the last show!! I am bummed and pissed and kinda sad...........

Good news! I was wrong -- there's one more episode left. The bad news is that in today's Ask Ausiello, he says he thinks ABC will hold on to it as long as they can. But at least we know there's a conclusion out there somewhere!

I finally watched this episode last night and I have to laugh - how many of you who live in Tornado Alley have time to run outside and tape your windows? If you knew a tornado was coming - wouldn't you just pack the kids in the car and high tail it out of there?

I love that those California writers confused Hurricane protocal with twister protocal.

And speaking of the new gay neighbors - where were they during the twister? Or all the teens - we had no sign of Susan, Bree or the new neighbor's teen kids.

As for who I think is dead - I think you are right with it being the Mayor and Ida. We pretty much saw everyone else didn't we?

I think Susan and the new neighbor ladys(cannot remember her name) daughter were on a school trip and Andrew moved somewhere. I was wondering where the gay guys were as well.
The "special effects" were a little much I thought. And I've been thru a few tornados and once a warning is issued you don't usually have time to do much more than duck and cover! I've never once taped my windows! lol

I hate how the writers make some of the characters so over the top that they become unlikable. Gabby last night was awful, especially in the garage when she got caught. Some campy-ness is fun, but sometimes Gabby and Susan just wind up looking stupid.

From PerezHilton:

Nicolette Sheridan may finally be saying adios to Desperate Housewives at the end of the season.

At least that's what show creator Marc Cherry is leading us to believe!

Judge for yourself.

Cherry said the following about Nicolette's DH character, Edie, in a recent interview:

"Edie is going to cross a huge moral boundary that she's never crossed before on the show and it will have devastating consequences for her and lead to a shocking conclusion to her time on Wisteria Lane." Conclusion? What happens? "That's all I'm going to say."

Damn. Somebody better do something quick or I'll be taking it off my list as well.

It looks like Tom might be going down in a fiery blast of jealousy flames. I can't believe that he is still holding a grudge even though Lynette didn't do anything.

When Gabby got in to the fight with the wheelchair bound guy and said "Now I am going to hell"... uh... beating the nun's ass in the 2nd season didn't qualify you for that?

Having said all that... this season is off to a sloooowwww start.

Wow, the last post was in February. Is anyone still caring enough about this show to post in here any more? I'm going to try to do a bit more here. Since I have no life. Like, AT ALL.

So, to get things rolling again, this season, for me, is FAR superior than season 5. For many reasons. 1.) That lame time-jump thing is behind us, and I can just pretend it never happened (except for the death of Edie). 2.) Unlike last year, when we all solved the mystery by episode 2, I honestly have no idea who strangled Julie. I have theories, but there hasn't really been any evidence, which I'm a big fan of - I like to keep guessing. 3.) I'm really, really digging Susan this year. Normally, she's about my least favorite, but she's had some of the best lines this season, and she doesn't seem crazy at all . . . thanks to Katherine. Which leads me to --

What I hate about this season. Namely, the writers have made Katherine extremely dislikeable. I'll admit that I was on board with the first couple eps, but I think Katherine crossed the line between cute-crazy and just plain certifiably insane when she keyed Bree's car in front of her. Well, possibly before that. They need to reign Katherine in and pronto. I'm also curious as to what happened with Ana? Did they just drop her? We're going on 3 episodes without her. Did I miss an explanation? And I'm getting a tad tired of Lynette, although last week she wasn't as bad as she'd been previously. The Bree/Karl thing just keeps going on and on, and I think what needs to happen is that someone needs to find out already! I think that'll happen this Sunday.

Also, (And there are SPOILERS AHEAD, so tread carefully!)

We're headed into sweeps. And it seems Cherry has confirmed that this year's disaster ep is going to be a massive plane wreck that destroys Wisteria Lane. He's said that he won't be killing off main characters (thank god, because a year after killing off Edie would be too much), but he will be killing off a "fan favorite." I know that Orson probably doesn't count as a "fan fave," but I'm hoping it's him. I think Kyle McLachlan is a great actor, but Cherry's giving him absolutely nothing to do, so this would be a good time for him to go. I hope it's not McCluskey, and it wouldn't be cool to kill her off while Kathryn Joosten is going through cancer, but Cherry has said in the past that he wouldn't kill her off.

Wow, I wrote a lot. Thoughts, questions, rants?

Also, if you were a fan and left the show during season 5 (or 4), I suggest coming back. It's beginning to improve. It's still not as great as seasons 1 or 3 (or 4 - I loved season 4), but it's getting back on track.
