Has anyone seen the latest online comic that nbc.com has up!? Usually you get some kind of insight but this one has me completely confused....I don't get it. Anyone!?

I thought it was weird too. Here's my thoughts on it:

Peter's always embraced his power and searched for meaning behind it. He excitedly assumed he would become a Hero and help prevent some type of disaster, save lives, make things better. It's in his nature really. Before he was even aware of his abilities he was a hospice nurse. He wanted to take care of dying people. He wants to help. But since his dream (which have seemed to be prophetic lately) he's depicted as someone who is shunned by the other superheros, left out, abandoned... and in turn blows NYC up. So now he's conflicted.

Am I meant to be a Hero or a Villain? Is it my destiny to become a part of the team and "save the world" or is the team destined to save the world from me?

I think the story that Peter uses to exemplify the perfect Hero is the typical scenerio you'd see in the good vs. evil tale. Evil bank robber who uses technology to mimick the classic powers of the Hero is defeated by the Hero who uses his naturally given abilities. Peter even implies that those who are given these powers (as opposed to taking them) are more deserving and are ultimately destined to win in the end... whereas stolen powers are unworthy.

"The Rocket, he's got a special suit. It makes him practically invulnerable. But I've got something too. I can fly. I don't need a jetpack." This can be a reference and comparison to Peter and Sylar. Their powers are very similar. Peter absorbs others' powers; Sylar alters his DNA to obtain others' powers. But who's more powerful? Peter can only maintain his acquired abilities for a period, but Sylar seems to carry them permenately. Maybe Peter is worried about his weaknesses. Maybe he's upset that things could go wrong for him, even though he's always thought of himself as a good person. He doesn't understand how that could be... I think it's interesting that Peter invisions himself as someone who can fly when really he's unable to do that unless Nathan is around.

I just think the comic is about him being conflicted about the dream he had... and realising that this whole superhero thing isn't cut and dry. He's not invincible and things can still go terribly wrong. The villian is not easily defeated, no matter how evil he is or how undeserving he is. The villian could be living inside of us, no matter how much of a nice guy you are.

[Okay this is really long and it's almost 12:40 am... so if I made no sense forgive me. :P ]

Thanks basia.mille - yes that was long but it does make sense. I guess I never looked at those comics as having that much to them. All the rest of them offered just a little something to fill in a blank here or there on someone's past or present situation and that one just left me scratching my head like wha??!!? I guess they make creams for that....
