You all have NO idea how excited I am at the thought of celebrities becoming "real" cops. Tonight cannot come fast enough. And I thought the art of "Television Fromage" was lost.
ARMED & FAMOUS, a new reality series that turns celebrities into crime fighters, will follow five brave stars through the Police Academy and onto patrol in Muncie, Indiana. ARMED & FAMOUS features actor Erik Estrada ("CHiPs"), singer and author La Toya Jackson, television personality Jack Osbourne ("The Osbournes"), professional skateboarder Jason "Wee-Man" Acuņa ("Jackass") and former WWE champion wrestler, Trish Stratus.
The series follows the five stars as they become sworn police officers in the Midwestern town of Muncie, Indiana -- a city of nearly 70,000 residents located 60 miles northeast of Indianapolis. It's also home to Ball State University.
Done with the full cooperation of the Muncie Police Department, the celebrities will undergo police training to become reserve police officers in the Muncie Police Department. They'll learn everything from firearms to hand-to-hand combat, and even learn what it's like to be on the receiving end of a taser shock as a part of the process to be certified to carry stun guns. Upon completion of their training, they'll be issued badges and guns, partnered with veteran officers and immediately hit the streets of Muncie. The five celebrities will protect and serve on the busiest shift of the night, 6 PM to 2 AM, responding to emergency calls, helping victims and making arrests.
ARMED & FAMOUS will premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 10 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) followed by a special original broadcast on Thursday, Jan. 11 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. ARMED & FAMOUS moves to its regular time period, Wednesdays
(8:00 - 9:00 PM, ET/PT) on Jan. 17.

I live about a half an hour from Muncie. I would have loved to get down there and get pulled over or something just so I can meet some of the celebs.
Since I am from a small town, I don't see many famous people. Come to think of it, I don't think I've met anyone really famous. I'm totally not counting Zach Randolf (plays for the Portland Blazers). I hung out with him a little bit in high school and I'm not proud of it AT ALL. I guess I did met the guys from the group Switchfoot but that was like 8 years before they had a popular song, so that doesn't count either.

BEST. SHOW. EVER. Any show that has La Toya Jackson arresting someone hiding from the cops causing the cops talk about what a great cop she is, well, that's just great tv.
I am so glad that I am not the guy that got arrested. Can you imagine.....
"Uh, yeah, so I was hiding from the cops because they were arresting my buddy. I almost got away with it until La Toya Jackson arrested me. Yeah. La Toya Jackson. Shut up! Seriously guys....it's not that funny. Oh man, can someone just shiv me and get this over with....."

Yeah, I thought it was going to be lame, but I loved it so much. La Toya is absolutely hilarious. The wrestler I don't much care for, mostly because she's tougher than me. I like Jack Osbourne, too, just because I haven't taken notice of him since the second season of The Osbournes, so it's nice to see how he's turned his life around. And Ponch with the old lady was hilarious. I hope there's some sexual activity between him and his sexy partner, because that would be fantastic.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. They did more and were more involved in actual police work than I thought. The old lady drug dealer with Eric Estrada was great TV.

I agree with almost everyone. This show I expected to be okay at best, and instead I LOVED it! I think it works so well because very little of it seems staged by the producers. So many celebrity reality shows are incredibly staged, which shows a lack of respect for the audience and the subject matter.
I loved the old lady crack dealer with no teeth who was so star struck with Erik Estrada that she hardly seemed to mind going to jail.

Man, this is a fine, fine show! I have to say that LaToya really impressed me at that house. She did very well, all things considered. It's just a shame she's almost as ravaged by plastic surgery as Michael. Her nose seems like it was modelled by a beginner sculptor, and it's hard to believe she used to be African-American. I'm not going to get snarky about the tablecloth and finger bowl and she also seems surprisingly nice.
I've also got to give props to Trish Stratus for showing just how much ass Canadian women kick! Unfortunately she hasn't had much to do yet while on duty. I wonder if she was prompted to talk to the poor family whose house burned down just so the producers had something to work with. If not, it was nice to see her being so compassionate though after a while I just wanted her to leave the poor people alone so they could comfort each other.
The only real criticism I have of the show so far is how little time we got to see them in training. It was three weeks? It was so rushed through on the show it seemed like it was three or four days.

From all the talk I'm hearing, it actually sounds to me like the ravagedness of Latoya's face (and reputation and good sense) is actually kind of Armed and Famous' big draw. Three people today, including my best friend whose taste I tend to agree with, pretty much gushed about how much they enjoy watching Latoya's singular brand of trainwreck. Do I agree? Not exactly, but I figured it was worth noting.

One of the things I love most about this show is how it can switch back and forth so easily from heartbreaking sentimentality to bat-shit insanity. No other show can give you such TV gold as making America fall in love with Erik Estrada all over again as he stands up for all the battered women, and then immediately switch and have some crazy old coot ask him to sign his boob. And alternating between LaToya's coaching of the homeless thief and her cat phobia therapy. I'm glad they're showing us the partners all bonding. I was hoping they'd do that and not just do non-stop COPS-type action.

Remember when Trish and her partner were called for a breaking and entering call? The guy but Trish and her partner tackled the guy in the backyard. The guy was yelling and crying. Dope! Imagine a former WWE female champ tackled you? I don't know, if Trish will tackle me, i'll bare the pain and cherish the momment w/ Trish, her body next to mine. That would be nice. LOL!

Welcome and congrats on your first posts being about this show!!
I heart La Toya Jackson. She is just not one with reality.
This is what a reality show should be. Real insane people doing Not-Insane people stuff. Good times I tell ya.

I just couldn't get into it. I started watching the episode last night and had to change the channel. Although the start was all EE (and not Emilio) and he's just icky, maybe if it had started with La Toya I would have stayed. I may try it again since it's getting just rave reviews from you all.

Last night when they arrested that guy with the red lighter. I thought that was silly. I know he probably broke into the car, but the only way they could prove it is because he had a red lighter. Anyone who smokes could be walking around in that area with a red lighter like that (in the middle of the night.;) ). And that was the only thing stolen from the car. That just made me laugh that, that was how that guy got arrested.

I felt bad for "Wee Man", trying to get that lady to stop and having to convince her that he is a real cop. Awww, just taser her buddy.
La Toya and the cats.....LOL I guess I can never have her over for dinner. And what is this "bad experience" with cats I wonder.
Erik Estrada signing that ladies boob....hehe. His poor partner. She should have known that getting hooked up with a 70's sex symbol was gonna have some draw backs. (All those old ladies have quite the "hard-on" for Ponch...hehe)
Trish Stratus talking about how she is gaining self-confidence and becoming more agressive. Um....what about WWE...is that where all the shy and gentle wrestlers go?
Jack Osbourne fifth wheel in his families reality go of it and now he is a fifth wheel here. Thank goodness he's off drugs.....

I love the relationship between Estrada and his partner. Their reactions to the boob signing were hilarious, as well as going to get a pedicure together. Let's hope for lots of beautiful baby-making.

I love the way they shoot the night scenes in that "Cops" kinda style and then the criminal pipes up and says "Hey - Is that you Ponch?" LOL!
Love LaToya and her "not giving the cat my energy". You Go Girl!

The second show seemed to focus on LaToya. I think she's moving from the D-list to the C-list. Eric was a little preachy with the wife beaters but they didn't care....they were being hauled in by Ponch. And for awhile there...I forgot Jack Osbourne was even on the show.
LaToya...maybe you could be the next Catwoman !!!!;)

But that's just how cops are... the whole preachy thing. To me, that says Erik is getting right into the whole cop persona real quick. He's not wasting any time. That's what's funny about Armed and Famous, seeing how quickly each of them adopt certain generic cop behaviors and attitudes.

I appalled that they took my new bff La Toya Jackson off the air. This was one of the few GOOD reality shows. They could have just given it a new time slot. Hopefully it will be summer filler so that we can see the rest of the episodes. LONG LIVE ARMED AND FAMOUS.........ATICA!ATICA!ATICA!
