Give me a break. Rosie always has something to say...as each day passes, I seem to dislike her more

Well I think Idol is too mean, but it has nothing to do with Rosie O'Donnell.

Rosie loves to "stir the pot"...
reminds me of someone who used to post here.

Unfortunately as long as they continue to make a mockery of the process they will continue to be mean and they will continue to get idiots looking for 15 minutes. It's unfortunate for those truly seeking a "real" audition.

Personally, I think they ARE mean. You can tell who is there for a real chance and for them to not only criticize their singing, but their appearance/looks is cruel, schoolyard, bully behavior.

I think Simon and Randy have teeny weenie’s and Paula's one shot glass short of skid row.

And see how they influence others to behave the same! :unsure2:

American Idol has attracted the attention of a number of critics as well as overseas publicity. In the BBC, for example:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6284459.stm

It's one thing to be critical, but the judges are attacking people who are so lacking in their mental capacities or their physical appearance or self-awareness that they are doing more harm than good. Yes, I laughed during the shows, but in hindsight, wow, those were mentally deficient contestants.

More importantly, it has brought attention and priceless publicity to the already-high-ranking show. That means big $$$ to the producers and the network. That obviously matters more than kicking at the mentally ill auditioners. Most of rejected auditioners were mental cases of one sort or another.

i'm watching those two boys on the Today show right now.

Their 15 minutes are fading fast. They both say they want to move on to acting in the movies and being on Broadway...right.

Bush Baby on Broadway...sounds like a winner.

Did you forget? The Lion King!

Actually an adaptation of Madagascar for the stage would be better, since then the country would match.

I still think the parents that encourage them cause more damage than Simon. I'm glad my parents told me to stick to tennis and give up the clarinet. Trust me, I was hopeless.

I think these people need a dose of reality when it comes to auditioning for AI. Do they really think that they are the NEXT AMERICAN IDOL??? I mean, come on.

That being said, "Don-cha" girl is my hero. (and my new avatar)

I believe no is that dilusional to think that the way they look coupled with how they sing that they were actually going to make it through. Bush baby in particular knew that the complete rejects have 15 minutes of fame than those who simply are just not good enough. I saw them on the Today show and I say they are idiots!

Simon is mean we all know that - and show business is cruel and driven by looks. Rosie was a comedian and that is why she made it even though she didn't have hollywood conventional beauty.

Excellent. Loved the Mother Daughter combo. They both looked 'sane'...

I don't know if these people that go on this show are just actors or what, but some of those people who tried out SUCKED so badly ... I think it's mostly just made for TV. The judges let the people go on for SO long, why didn't they just stop them mid-song like they used too? I also heard there's going to be a "huge" twist in the middle of the show, wonder what that's gonna be?

Talk about ironic; on the radio today, Dr. Laura was saying that people are SO mean these days. While she didn't mention AI by name, she did refer to that type of show. Of all the mean people however, she did mention Rosie by name.

Lolol Rosie ... ew, did anyone else hear that she wants to become the next host of "The Price Is Right"? That show will be doomed.

I can't even begin to imagine that. First of all Rosie likes to decide who wins stuff - I can't see her allowing the games to decide for her. Plus I can see her pushing people out of the way if they spin the wheel too weakly and showing them how to do it right. She's just too abrasive for the game show world.

Acid-tongued American Idol judge Simon Cowell has defended mocking a contestant for his "bush baby" looks, saying "if you don't want to hear that, don't show up". The hit TV talent show has been heavily criticized since the first episode of the new season was screened on Tuesday, with Entertainment Weekly critic Michael Slezak claiming, "The American Idol auditions in Seattle sometimes crossed the line into outright cruelty." Chat show host Rosie O'Donnell has slammed the show's tendency to "make fun of someone's physical appearance and then when they leave the room laugh hysterically," after Cowell also called a tall contestant a "giraffe" and asked an overweight hopeful if he'd borrowed the pants of chubby fellow judge Randy Jackson. But Cowell is adamant contestants know what they're letting themselves in for and shouldn't take the "off-the-cuff remarks" too seriously. He adds, "If he's offended, then I apologize. I might never call anyone a bush baby again."

Ok, my favorite part of this is that Simon says he "might never call anyone a bush baby again." Love that he's leaving that door open. You never know when you may need the busy baby slam.
