At first I thought this show was going to be lame and I missed the premiere, but somehow I was bored in the morning and they replayed the first episode. I thought it was pretty good for some odd reason. The best moment for me though was the end when the blonde girl thought she had it in the bag and was about to go home until her mom said she didn't want her. I was all "Ooooooooh snap" and then had myself a little snicker, but then felt bad afterwards seeing as how her dreams of being on american idol were shattered and she would have to go back to juvie and then to a group home.

After watching it seems like a great idea for a show and I wonder why it hasn't been done before, moreso for actual jails, because I'm sure they have a large list of memorable characters that they can create a storyline from. The only thing bad about Juvies though is that each episode seems like its new people, so you never get a continuing storyline, which sucks.

I watched the premiere and I thought I was really good. My heart broke for Sara. I know she screwed up by running away from home and she was probably very difficult to deal with when she was home, but it looked like her mother went to that hearing already knowing she didn't want to take her home. And when they wouldn't let her read the note her mom sent her with the gym shoes... I didn't get that. Why couldn't they let her read it and then take it back?

I was surprised at how bad the conditions seemed to be for these kids. Freezing cold cells, being allowed to brush their teeth just once a day, being forced to wash with Lysol, not being allowed to wear their clothes and shoes in their cells... I understand there's a reason for all that but it still seemed harsh.

Cordell's story was interesting. I think there was way more to it than what they showed.

EDIT: I just watched the Judge's podcast and saw an update on Sara. The judge acted as if she had a choice in putting Sara in foster care. She didn't. The mother made that choice. Sara was placed with her single-mother-of-two sister in Illinois. Then, Sara moved out of her sister's house and moved in with her boyfriend. Oh, yeah. She's pregnant.

When and where is this show on? This is the first I've heard of it.
Having them brush their teeth only once a day - doesn't that cost more in the long run for dental care? It doesn't make sense.

It's an MTV show, so it airs all the time. (I think it's even on right now, CST.) But I think it airs on Thursdays.

Yeah, I'm watching it right now. So sad.

I'm gonna have to have my daughter sit and watch this with me so that she can see the consequences what so many think are trivial actions.

The letter wasn't on the property list, so basically her mother snuck it in. If she didn't have anything to hide she should have included the letter in the items being given to Sara. The letter was wadded up shoved in the shoe like she was sneaking it in.

I'm going to make my kids watch it. They've really led sheltered parochial school lives and being in the real world...even they get shocked sometimes. They are both testing boundaries right now. I walked out the front door the other day where they were throwing snowballs at each other in their second snowstorm ever and my 12 year old threw a snowball, but missed a car. Boy did he get in trouble. Geez.

Julie if you get the chance to watch She's Too Young with your kids I highly recommend it. My daughter and I have watched it several times (she's 16) and I truly believe it has influenced her desire to remain a virgin.

Although it didn’t have ANY impact on her grades! :rolleyes2:

Shoot I need help with a twelve year old boy who has now FOUR girls calling him constantly. This is a sixth grader that hasn't hit puberty yet. He had a crush at the beginning of the year on one girl that made him cry he was so in love and she didn't give him the time of day. Now it's started again and he's asking me questions like...what do you like boys to say to you? How do I start a conversation with a girl (I told him to ask his dad and he said...omg Mommy, he's such of a nerd and you were hot when you were my age)? Friday he asked if he could take this new girl to the movies. Today at Borders he asked for a book about puberty and how to ask out girls. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

I finally watched it last night. That was one powerful show. I'm definitely making the kids watch it. I hope it scares the living daylights out of them.

i must say that watching it makes me wish that my friend's parents put his youngest brother in juvie for just one night. it would have def scared him straight and realized that life at home is not as bad as it seems. he's such a bratty, spoiled kid and doesn't realize that what his parents do for him is in his best interest!!! i esp think the one with the kid that got caught with pot will be a good shoe for the lil bro...i wish they could go back in time and not have paid thousands for a good lawyer!
