I'm pretty certain that Rocky has a touch of the old retardation with some Tourette's thrown in.
Dreamz. Whoa! What a DB. Shut up. Crazy person.
I love Yau Man. He's a gem.
The architect lady was a little Bitchy Bitcherson. She better watch it.
Who else was there?

I can't believe it. I don't hate Rocky!
Maybe I'm too much of a sucker for underdogs, because once one tribe won the challenge, I immediately started to think, "Man, I hate these guys." But Yau-Man is really, really lucky that they lost. If they were living in luxury and had everything already, there's no way he'd stick around. But now he's the most useful person in the game.
Anthony is actually pretty cool so far. I'm very, very pleased. Michelle and Erica aren't as crazy as I thought they would be, although they seem like they could both snap at any second: one just going loco, and one turning into a raging bitch, respectively. Sylvia was kind of bitchy.
Dreamz isn't as entertaining as I thought he would be. Kind of obnoxious. I was actually on Rocky's side during that fight.
Sad to see Jessica go. She was attractive. I read an interview with Probst before the show, though, and they kept asking about all the Survivors. When they asked, "Jessica. How did she do?" all he had to say was, "She was nice and wore her dad's shirt." Should have seen that elimination coming.
So far, my two biggest preconceptions are still holding strong: Anthony is cool and Alex is a sleazebag.
Oh, and Lisi is the Angie-from-Palau of this season. Put some pants on.

Dreamz, Rocky, Boo... Enough with the friggin' nicknames.
Also, the start of the show was quite possibly the most boring start ever. Last season they were frantically grabbing stuff and jumping off a boat, and the best ever was Probst standing at the mouth of a volcano. This season? 19 people paddling. Yay.

I am stuck here in the Arizona--mountain Standard Time Zone I think---when springs rolls around it will be Pacific Time.... we don't change and so in that we change! I know the wait HB.... everyone wants to get on and chat and here we sit waiting for or turn to watch and not get to talk with the rest of them!
Now I was pulling for Earl, and still am but Anthony did impress me tonight, Jim/Rocky/James/Boston/Jimbo/short bus rider/Jimmy/ Did make me happy and I too think he did the right thing with Dreamz....what was he doing in the middle of the night jonesin' around and then asking all white people to raise their hands!?!?!?!? What was that all about.....did you see Earls head whip around on that one?
Now this is my observation... I think the architect loaded one team, and I think she thought she would choose where she would go... with that I think she is lucky Rago/Rogo/Rainblow/Rintintin/ lost so she then could join the team she loaded.
EXILE====Snakes???

Can't he tell who's white without needing a show of hands? I was telling LQ last night, I do like that they stuck with a diverse cast again this year.
And like t-bag I was surprised at how much I didn't hate Rocky. I was all braced and ready to think he was a creep - and I know it's early yet and there is still plenty of time for him to live up to expectations but last night his behavior was entirely justified.
So did anyone else find the white couch an odd color choice? Oh and for our hidden advertisements - how much do you think Motorolla paid for the Moto tribe name? I'm just waiting for Probst to say "Hello Moto".

It means back at the tribe's camp. Which means she has to search for it as a secret (or be totally stupid and just tell everyone), and which also means that since that clue was there before she knew which tribe she was going back to, the "two hidden immunity idols" we've been hearing so much about are placed with one at each camp. If I were her, I'd search my ass off for the idol at my camp, and then when I found it I'd take the boat out to "explore" or "fish" or something, and try to sneak around the other tribe's camp. And if you get caught, just say you're lost or something. Pretend you're a stupid old woman. That being said, I hope she doesn't find it, because she's sure to get a lot of votes the next time the tribe loses, and I don't want to see the idol played this quickly.
And as for picking Jessica: Ha ha. I can gloat freely since Andrew is so kickass. I forgot to mention this, but I did take note: he was officially the first person to start strategizing (at least, as far as we saw). That's my boy!
Oh, and I forgot to mention that Stacy is really super hot. Watching her against Jessica in the challenge was really painful, because I knew one of those little sexpots was going to fuck up and get sent home. I'm glad it was the less attractive one.

I still like Edgardo and Alex too. Considering they're on the same tribe, I'll root for theirs. I agree that the two immunity idols must be one on each island, so they must have to look on their own beaches w/out giving up how they know where to look. The immunity challenge was HARD though, so I'm glad that they made them work for it from the get-go.:)

I really feel that this have vs. have nots is the big theme. A few months ago Oprah had on an author who spoke on this. How the rich are getting richer and vice versa. The gap is getting bigger, and the middle class is getting smaller. And changing this is becoming more difficult, the American dream is harder to realize now.
What will be the reward items? For one team monogramed towels and the other a tarp?

I hope that it doesn't play out in the obvious way that you think it would. With the haves being healthy and having stamina and winning everything. How boring. Maybe they'll flip flop camps somewhat frequently, that would be interesting. Does somebody feel like giving a rundown on who's on what tribe right now? I could look it up, but eh, that sounds like a lot of work.

Excellent idea!
At the beginning of the episode they were all delighted when they found the cave for shelter and saw all the food hanging on the trees. I think the have nots have it pretty damned good compared to other seasons. I know it's no shangri-la but it's still not bad considering.

I think after the year when Elisabeth How'd-She-Go-From-Survivor-To-The-View Hasslebeck started losing her hair, they got a bit more liberal with the food. Recent seasons they've seemed much better fed. Not that I'd give up my microwavable chimichangas to sit on an island eating rice and mangoes, but still.

My seventh-grade geography teacher made us watch The Gods Must Be Crazy, but before he put it in, he said, "This is a really boring, but really important film about African history." So we went into it already hating it and taking everything seriously. It took about half an hour before everyone realized he was kidding.
I didn't say it was a seventh-grade class of geniuses.
Also, I rewatched the first episode with my roommate tonight, who hadn't seen it, and I have to say - Rocky kicks ass. Better than Anthony? Possibly. The one thing that annoys me about Rocky - unless I find out he's really a boxer - is the way he moves and acts like a boxer, always throwing practice jabs while hopping back and forth, walking hunched over with a scowl on his face, and thumbing his nose. You know what I mean. But if he's really a boxer, then he's awesome. If not, this Rocky stuff is getting to his head in a sort of obnoxious way.
Oh, and Sylvia is so irritating. That mini-montage of her bossing everyone around, using the exact same intonation with every question: "Could you put this heeeeerreee?" "Who wants to build thiiiiiss?" She's so damn lucky she got sent to Exile Island.
Also, my theory about an immunity idol at each beach since she got the clue before she knew who lost was stupid. No matter who lost, she was going to be on the losers' beach. So obviously one idol is at that beach - the other is still up in the air. But maybe it's with the other tribe? I suspect it is, but Burnett's a trickster. They'll probably have to outwit Boston Rob to get it, or one of our other "all-time favorite Survivors." Which reminds me: who nominated Stephenie and Bobby Jon as two of our "all-time favorite Survivors", as hyped in the previews for Guatemala? I'm still pissed about that. Maybe I missed the survey they sent out.
Anyway, I'm done.

Yeah, I thought they were going to have 'beach challenges' instead of reward challenges to see who gets what camp for that cycle or whatever, but then they wouldn't be able to develop a narrative thread, and have a running underdog and whatnot. But, I would expect a camp switch at some point.

Probst has said some shit about the luxury tribe acting really entitled, so it seems like Burnett is keeping the switching for the Apprentice. In all honesty, I'd be kind of disappointed if I was in this season and I won the reward. If the show's still on when I'm old enough to apply (Jesus, that makes me sound like a baby), I would want to do it primarily for the money, but secondly for the experience. And just sitting on your ass with fancy tea-cups would make me - in retrospect, once I was looking back at it after I got home - like I was cheated out of the whole Survivor experience as we've come to know it. It would be nice, but somehow I don't think it would be as fun, and if I went really far, I really wouldn't feel like I had earned it as opposed to if I had built an entire life out there with nothing but a pot and a machete. And now I'll step off my soapbox and enjoy watching rich people and poor people tear each other to shreds.

T-bag - you PERFECTLY expressed the exact way I feel about the fancy camp.
Plus, part of what I loved about the first Season - was the ingenuity of how they dealt with the downtime. Remember coconut bowling or the bamboo fishing rod? I wish they would show more of their home made luxuries. I like seeing the actual Survivor aspect of the show.

Campy, sweety, hon, you know you can edit a post? If you ever have trouble with one again - just hit the edit button and fiddle with it til you get the kinks worked out.

Tink I worked on this post all morning and afternoon. Must of deleted it 12 times.:( Please remember I'm self taught at this computer and internet stuff. My kids won't help cause they want my ass out of this seat. So it's trial and error for me, and copy and paste was soooo complicated!
But I did it!

Yes you did! And if you ever need help - just let me know I'd be happy to help you in any way I can. For someone self taught you seem to be catching on to all the bells and whistles.
