I get a sense that you are not all rose-colored glasses LOST and LOST can do-no-wrong. I really enjoyed the recap.
I suspect the Other's storyline will wrap up soon. It has to, they need to move on to the other mysteries of the island. Though I'd like to see Ben roaming the island and haunt the 815 survivors. He is such a great villian.

Ben is definitely my favorite other. I still get chills remembering him in the hatch. Some of the best moments from S2 were involving him.

I can't wait for this week's ep!! It's still hard to believe we will have new shows, every week!! I'm so excited!!

Great character and really talented actor. But Ben has overstayed his welcome (imo), he should have left at the end of season 2. I wouldn't mind him showing up out of the blue just for the creep-out factor, he needs to take a cue from Danielle though and dissapear into the jungle.

And Juliet's ex is definitely cast from the same mold as Ben. Abusive, domineering (sp?), manipulative, small in stature, very mousy.

I plan to rewatch last week's ep to see what I may have missed the first time around and try to catch some of the things pointed out in the recap.

I most want to see the difference in Juliet's looks as there was a lot of discussion today about time warp and such. Also, that anagram thing has still got me puzzled as the one everyone is talking about just seems to simple.

Hey, JDH! It's good to hear from you again. I hope that all is well with the family.

Yes, I think we get back to our Losties this week. Yea! I wonder when they are going to get to Cindy, the children and the other Others. ... or is it the "bad guys" Others....

Hey JDH, c4l and Lady! Long time no talk!

I agree, it is time to move off the Alcatraz island and back to our Hurley Holiday camp. I watched the re-cap, just before last weeks show, and I am reminded how many 'others' have been shown. I wonder if any site has done a 'head count' on how many there really is?

The reason why I bring this up is, in last weeks pre-view, it looks like Locke and gang try to rescue Jack. Is this doable? Are our Losties hopelessly outnumbered?

I suppose, the 815 Survivors have dynamite and a few guns and Locke's knives. Wish they had ruthless Druglord/Warlord jesus-stick wielding Eko!

so, in the scenes for next week, we see what looks to be that building being seriously blown up. do we think that is accomplished with the dynamite from the black rock? and, what exactly does that accomplish (except no more brainwashing)? i guess i am wondering what else was in that building...i hope we get to see that-like if there are also rooms # 4, 8, 15, 16, and 42 and what's going on in them. are they going to blow up everything in the dharma zoo area, or...?

A great site to get alot of that specific info, thing like how many others have been killed, where to find the complete blueprints of the hatch, the map that was on the hatch door, how many nicknames Hurley has, etc.....

I don't know how to link, but this is it
thefuselage.com
It is the best site I've found so far for EVERYTHING Lost. Just sign up and use their search program or just read threads.

I went to Lostpedia and tried to count how many Others there are, but there were only a handle full that has the presence of Ethan (seemingly superhuman). The older Others, Ben included don't seem to imposing. And the way they were shooting at Kate, Alex and Sawyer - not to threatening either.
And how could Sawyer not kill the Marshall (mercy killing) but pick off an Other across the river when they were following Michael?

Some seem to think there is a third group on the island.... like you said "super human". The theory is that Benry would actually like to recruit our Losties to combat these other "others". Don't forget eyeball guy !!!

For some reason, I get the feeling that Patch guy has nothing to do with the Others but has more in common with Desmond's button pushing duty. He seemed to be hiding. I think he also might be a Dharma researcher like Wickman/Candler. The story is like a nesting toy only in reverse - the hatch, the Others, then maybe an original Dharma research hold-over, and then maybe the island's history pre-Dharma.

 pickett was a poor shot (as were his coherts) in this last ep while chasing sawyer and kate thru the jungle. but then he shoots a walkie talkie out of her hand from who knows how far? oh well, i'll go with the suspension of disbelief on that one...not worth nitpickin'. whatever creates the most drama...

(chooch-hi to all your fluffer duffers!)

Or Dharma.:tonguewag:

As for the bad shooting, three possibilites occur to me about the radio shot.

1. Somebody was just a damn good shot.
2. Somebody was a lousy shot and Kate is really lucky.
3. Kate really has been compromised and that shot was part of a larger plan, taken by someone who was a VERY good shot.

LB - I don't think that there's much that happens on this show that won't get nitpicked to death, drama or not!

GB-maybe there's a dharma sniper of sorts on the island who only shoots at very small, far away objects and leaves the people shots up to someone else? but just a question cuz i don't know a lot about guns...the bullet that hit kate's teeeeeeeeeeny radio...wouldn't that sorta go thru it and into her hand, or did it ricochet off as was the case with tom/zeke/mr. friendly (thus proving kate is an other, which would make roseman do a little happy dance)?

as for nitpicking, i (nit)pick my battles. i don't care if people are a really bad shot some times and a really good shot sometimes UNLESS there is something more to it (which i suppose is always a possibility in this show, eh?). sigh.

Thanks for the link Chooch :)

What amazes me is that EVERYONE else can shoot!

These folks ALL seem to have the feel for it.:2guns: :gun_bandana:

But that's common in most movies and TV. I think that falls under the explanation "It was in the script" Sometimes we just have to accept that everyone in an action show can shoot better than most cops in real life.

LB - I don't think that there's much that happens on this show that won't get nitpicked to death, drama or not!

That IS part of the fun of this show and shows like Heroes.

Which reminds me, Mr. Bishop, I dirty dog double dare you to post on a non-Lost themed thread.

Be brave - come out of the hatch, we won't hurt ya.

Assuming that the bullet JUST shattered the radio and passed above her hand, the 'sploding radio bits would still hurt like HELL. In real life, I'd bet on severe lacerations requiring stitches. On TV, probably won't even merit a band-aid. If they show her wrap the hand because it's bleeding, I'll be VERY impressed, but don't count on it.

Hey this is Lost, where 48 people survive a plane ripping apart and crashing and no one really hurt!?!? Now if it were Artz the walkie talkie being shot would have removed half his arm.

Best point made so far! Have you ever heard of that many survivors from any plane crash where the plane was ripped in half mid-air?

oh yea....there was a plane crash on this show...wasn't there? huh-sorta forgot about that (what's that like...not being able to see the forest/fuselage for the trees/others/monsters/hatches/polar bears/etc.?)

Nah. The cool kids never would have let him play with it in the first place.
:glare:

Before "Lost" I didn't realize that one stick of dynamite could actually vapourize a human being.

oh my gosh...you use a U in vaporize too? what a hoot!

he didn't really vaporize...he just sorta blew into a bunch a very teeeeeny tiny pieces, one of the larger ones landing on jack's shirt.

No, I just liked Artz. I thought he was very likeable and funny and a voice for the audience. And it totally shocked me when and the way that he died.
No inside jokes here, I've been alienated and ostracized too often in life to find merit in inside jokes.

LB -
The "U" goes into words like honoUr, LaboUr, humoUr, and a bunch of others.
Whenever it's pronounced "er" not "or", the British spelling usually includes the U.
It actually makes more sense. You don't pronounce it vapOr, you pronounce it vapEr!

I think you're starting to see the theme here. Each level is associated with a TV show.

Bloody Donkey - Hell's Kitchen
Fresh Meat - Real World/Road Rules Challenge
Houseguest - Big Brother
Entourage - Well.... Entourage

and so on, and so on...

Tink,
after I saw your post, don't know if you recalled that Arzt was the chemistry teacher that went to the Black Rock ship w/our Losties and found the dynamite, then was blown up by said dynamite after he told everyone to be careful with it.

:rolleyes2: Thanks, GB! Can't say I invented that design, but I'm a good borrower! Looking forward to your next recap-I watched last week's ep, then read your recap, then had to go back and re-watch the ep to pick up on all the stuff I missed, even with Tivo. Do you keep a flow-chart, or journal, or family-tree type thing to keep everyone and their relationships straight? I mean, I understand everything when I'm watching it, but to keep the guards' names straight 3-4 episodes after the ep airs is unbelieveable!

The people over at SciFi2U took the time to replay the film from room#23 and this could be heard softly "Only fools are enslaved by time and space." Just thought it was interesting. I knew some little writer's message had to be in there somewhere. Maybe there is more.

I think it was inevitable that Arzt would be vapoUrized by the dynamite. Think of it... You can't allow a personality that abrasive around high explosives...
