Apparently the episode airs early in Canada, because it has already turned up online in several places. I thought about downloading it - and actually did, halfway - but I canceled it so I could watch it tonight on TV, rather than on my stupid computer. Plus I don't want it to distract me from studying right now. I'll take a break when it comes on.

So, why have our Canadian members been keeping this little secret from us? You guys have been enjoying Heroes 24 hours before we get to? Shame on you for not sharing.

The good news is someone left a comment attached to the download and it was, "THIS EPISODE IS AWEEEEESOME!!1" So look forward to an AWEEEEESOME!!1 episode tonight.

I always love when the exclaimation point turns to a one when the person typing stopped shifting before they stop oneing. Makes me even more excited. And I like that awesome has a big WEEEEE in the middle of it.

I think this was the first episode to air in Canada before the US.

And i agree with the comment, this episode is AWEEEEESOME!!1.

Probably the best episode of the season so far.

Wayne, you tease. But seriously, don't say a word more. Less than an hour.

Phopho, I love that, too. They're far too excited to care about the differences between exclamation marks and ones!

May, There's no way that door is opening. The problem tonight is that my roommate's dumb-as-a-rock girlfriend is over, and she's never seen the show. So she'll ask questions non-fucking-stop. She even does it when she's seen all the episodes up until the newest one. Like during Lost, when the sheriff said to Jack, "Do you know what your tattoo stands for?", she honestly asked us, "What does his tattoo stand for?" Luckily for her, I don't give a shit about Lost anymore. But if she opens her ugly mouth during Heroes, I'll kill her.

And Karo: Yes. Yes it is.

Amen, Jampony. Lost just got put to shame so terribly. And we didn't even need a, "Questions will be answered," preview.

Next week looks awesome. Simone's back? Hopefully someone shoots her again. (Plus a trailer for Spiderman 3? Whatever, I'll take it. More superhero awesomeness.)

But why think about next week when this week kicked ass so much? Things I loved:

That half the show's dialogue was in Matt's head.
Lyle attacking Ted. Stupid kid.
The camera zooming in on Mr. Muggles and then his painting.
Claire talking to her dad with a mouthful of blood.
Claire's face melting off, and then regrowing.
Mrs. Bennett becoming a born-again-Christian all of the sudden.
Eric Roberts. When did he get so old?
Mini-Hiro and -Claire. Hopefully they have a cartoon spinoff: Baby Heroes.
The fact that the Hero hunters are paired with Heroes.
That Hannah-what's-her-face is paired with Eric Roberts.
The trying-on-the-glasses flashback.
That they got me to think for a couple seconds that HRG was actually letting them kill him.
The thought of the Haitian and Claire living in a secluded cabin together. And him going out and gathering food to return to the cabin, where she's in the kitchen wearing an apron, caring for their three children. I'm 95% positive this is the direction in which the show is heading.
I could go on and on. A perfect episode. Well, near perfect. And on that note...

Things I didn't love:
That Claire's skin melted off, but not her bra.

Mrs. Bennett becoming a born-again-Christian all of the sudden.
Huh? What'd I miss?

That Hannah-what's-her-face is paired with Eric Roberts.
That wasn't Hanna (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1065664/), that was a new chick (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1335291/) who's joining the cast. I remember reading about her character months ago, but I can't remember what her power is. It's either the same as someone else on the show, but ramped up a lot, or it's some sexual power. Or was that on Doctor Who? I'm getting all confused!

You don't remember when Mrs. Bennett went all religious? After she saw Claire heal, all she could talk about was God this and God that. Maybe I was the one who missed something. Has she been this religious all along? I didn't think she was, so it was surprising to hear her talk about God so much.

And as for Hanna/not-Hanna: whatever. I see a sexy brunette and then I see another one, I'm bound to think they're the same person. I think it is a sexual power: the ability to give me an erection!

Now "they" are going to want Parkman's unborn child, same as with Claire true mother and how baby Claire was given to HRG. Parkman is the new HRG, he will do whetever it takes to protect his family.

And I guess Simone's father was also in with the "they". Isn't that his balcony or the balcony of the building he lived in? The one with the invisible man's pigeons and Issacs end of world paintings.

So "they" are all wealthy business men from all over the world. I wonder if Mohinder's father had ties to them. And I wonder if Mohinder's sister is truly dead or taken by "they" or vanished like Claire.

I loved that Hiro and Claire basically "met" when they were little.

So now we have to wonder, a few episodes back when Hiro's dad was on and wanted Hiro to work for him - take over the family business - is the business a cover-up like HRGs?

t-bag
02-26-2007, 07:41 PM
I would imagine all the businesses would be. And it looks like our league villains is being set up, which is awesome. The fact that they have people with powers on their side is even more awesome.

I'm just going to throw this out there: seeing Claire as a fourteen-year-old made her even more attractive. And she was even hot as a baby!

Holy friggin' crap, now that's television!

I really hope that as the series goes on we get a few more focused episodes like this if they keep them up to this standard.

Now to rain on the HRG parade a little, he's still not a "good" guy. Towards his family? Yes, definitely. But he's still a part of that organization and has likely murdered people in addition to kidnapping them.

Oh yeah...and what's with the "Bridge O' Death"? Scratch that - "Bridge O' Fake-Your-Death"...Scratch that - "Bridge O' Be-Left-for-Dead"...or..."Bridge O' Fake-Your-Be-Left-For-Dead-Death"???
This bridge got a lot of air-time - I'm just saying...not complaining...it's a lovely bridge, very scenic...but just a co-winky-dink that HRG chose this location? I think not.

Best hour of television ever.

Was Hiro's dad living in that rooftop apartment? Or is there still some link to Simone's dad?

My head is still spinning from last night. I love the way that they opened up so many new directions for the show to go. Some of my new questions...

1) So we know that Hiro's dad is a bigshot in The Company. Someone suggested Peter and Nathan's dad, too ... that sounds right. And that scene was on 'that rooftop'; didn't Simone's father own that building? Is he involved too? I bet Linderman is as well.

2) We still don't know exactly what it is that The Company does. We know that they track down Heroes, study them, and track them ... why? What's the ultimate goal? Is it a covert government group? With Sulu being such a bigwig, it seems like some sort of international organization. Is there any government involvement at all, or is it some rich evil corporation?

3) Is Matt going to be HRGs new partner?

4) Claire and the Haitian on the run together?

5) What exactly is HRG going to be like from now on? He told the Haitian to 'dig deep' so that they couldn't use his memories to find Claire or incriminate him in any way. Is he going to remember that she has powers? Is he going to remember her at all? Is his personality going to be affected?

6) Is Claire's family in danger now that the Haitian isn't around to remove their memories of what happened?

Wow, wow, wow...

Greatest hour of television ever! There was so much going on and the filled us in on a bunch. Little Hiro was just as cute. I gasped when I saw Hiro's dad on the roof top at first. Eric Roberts is looking old.

Clair has the best power - perfect hair in any condition. Fire going on, nuclear man burning, running away from a serial killer, it all stays very perfect. I want that power!

Matt is getting very involved in the plot now. At first I thought he was going to be one of those throw away characters, but I really enjoy him sans the wifey. Can she die in child birth, please.

I am glad Ted is dead because i couldn't get passed the whole GEICO caveman look and it always took me out of the moment when he was on screen.

What happened to wireless chick - wasn't she supposed to go with them to HRG's. Did I miss something?

The hatian is way cool and I love how everyone thinks that he is mute, it works well for him.

This really was an awesome show!!!!!!!!!!1

The freaking TV schedule here has been totally fucked up. Our networks pick shows from your networks and jump from one to the other, so American Idol, Lost, Amazing Race and the Oscars are all on one channel here (CTV), and Survivor, 24, Heroes, and the Office are on another (Global) so Amazing Race was bumped for the Oscars on Sunday, and it aired last night. The O.C. didn’t air on Thursday, it aired on Saturday, and Heroes was on on Sunday. Of course I didn’t look into any of this. Luckily, I was able to catch Heroes on NBC last night.

Sonofamotherbitchfuck! That was amazing, huh? Best episode yet.

LOL. Most of you have said what I wanted to say, and I hate being that repeating chick. But DAMN, that was an amazing hour of television. Afterwards we sat there kinda speechless and then started talking all excited. And the special effects on this show, amazing what they do on TV now. We were talking about how TV is better than so many movies now because they can do the big budget stuff AND do good character development. This show is proof of that.

Sonofamotherbitchfuck! That was amazing, huh? Best episode yet.

Ooh, I had forgotten that Claude was hiding someone. If you like the idea that Petrelli Sr. is a Company man, maybe Claude is helping him out by hiding Nathan & Peter? Although, as far as we know, they didn't start to show their powers until around the time that the series started. Maybe Claire's mom? She had to have some help escaping and making it seem like she's dead.

Nice thought on Niki's dad too.

SHIELD is like an international police force, right? Maybe...

Im soooo glad that everyone recognized the episodes awesomeness. That was definitely a tvgasmic hour. I loved how the entire episode was based on HRG vs Matt and Ted and they didn't do a cut to one of the other characters or some other story with no connection to it. I felt so bad for Lost after this episode, we got answers, the story moved along, we got new stories and questions. It was amaziiiing.

Anyway, I too wonder who Claude was hiding, it seems like it was someone important to him, but he doesn't have any connection with that person now since he never mentions it when he was with Peter.

I loved the part where Matt tries to read HRG's mind but HRG thinks in JAPANESE! I never would have thought of that and it was very clever imo to avoid Matt's power.

When Claire walked out of the house and her face was deformed/burned and then it started to heal. I thought that shot was brilliant and a I know I had my mouth open.

I wonder how they are going to "fix" the problem of the neighbors who saw claire heal herself. Need to have some Men in Black type machine to erase minds since the Eraser is gone.

What was also great about this episode is that after it ends and you start having thoughts run through your mind about the show and then they show the preview for the next episode.....SIMONE ALIVE WTFFFFF! Great teaser too!

I hated the fact that the black donnellys started off without commercials for half hour, me and my cousin couldn't discuss heroes!

Anyway my cousin came up with a theory that perhaps the new assistant to the organization is a shapeshifter, which could explain why we see Simone again, but Im still iffy on that theory.

Oh yeah, I was kinda bummed that HRG doesn't have any powers. But at least he is pretty clever and now that he could be teamed up with Matt it will make for an interesting duo.

Finally, despite the entire greatness of the show, I thought it was stupid/dumb that Hannah was not with Ted and Matt despite the fact that they are working together! The entire episode I was waiting for Hannah to show up since she was the one who originally thought of the idea? I hope they have a good reason for it.

She might have been more there to set things in motion. Also, in the online graphic novels, she has a history where she worked for The Company (and closely with HRG), got captured by the baddies, then they abandoned her and she escaped on her own. So she probably didn't want to risk being spotted because they might not even know that she's alive.

The shapeshifter idea is great - she could assume Claire's form and fool the mother and brother!!!
And HRG not having powers but knowing Japanese, maybe that's his power - languages?

I am starting a Jack Coleman (HRG) fan club. Everytime he is on the screen I am mesmerized. He makes HRG one of the best characters on tv. I have bunnylove for him.

OK - the show....was that not like a freaking "E" ticket ride?! The black and white flashbacks ala film noir was awesome.

Little Hiro and Sulu Dad on the (now famous) rooftop giving Claire Bear to HRG.
Little Haitain erasing Momma Bennet the 'first' time.
Claude hiding one of his own...could that have been Bio Claire Mom??
Best line of the night was Rad Ted "I am not gonna nuke the dog."

So, is radioactive guy really dead? Everyone seems to be assuming he is, but he wasn't dying from that gunshot very quickly and he had to be tranquilized by Clair to be stopped. I hope he is dead but I didn't think the show made it clear. Am I alone in this?

Maybe he'll be used as a weapon by the company, or a small group of heroes will break him free and escape to NY - hence Peter's dream of going nuclear. I don't think he's dead, but I bet he will be dead or depowered by the end of the season.

He's not dead yet. ERic roberts said that they'd do some tests, then kill him.

I hope they recruit Parkman. That job would be right up his alley, and he and HRG could stir up some shit within.

Why couldn't the Haitian erase Eric Roberts' memory of Claire? wouldn't that be simpler than the shooting, fake escape, and HRG erasure route?

What's the young-Haitian's necklace/Jessica's tattoo connection? Any theories?

I don't know whether anyone got to this, but....

The symbol (sorry for the long post, but some might find it interesting)

The symbolThe symbol appears most frequently throughout the series. In episode 12 ("Godsend") the symbol, as appears on the sword hilt, is revealed by Ando Masahashi to be a combination of two Japanese characters: 才 (sai) meaning "great talent" and 与 (yo) meaning "Godsend". Appearances include

As a decorative object in the Bennets' home.

In a swimming pool at the scene of one of Sylar's murders.

Several flotation devices form the shape. (ep. 102, when Matt is next to the swimming pool, before being questioned by the FBI women)

On a billboard behind Hiro when he teleports at Times Square.

On a drawing done by Peter Petrelli.

On various paintings by Isaac Mendez.

On a post-it note on the map in Mohinder Suresh's apartment.

A pattern in the algorithm of a program in Chandra Suresh's laptop computer.

Written on a geometry textbook owned by Claire Bennet.

Written on pictures in Sylar's apartment.

On Jessica's back whenever she surfaces as Niki's alternate personality.
When Jessica is repressed, the symbol does not appear on Niki's back.

On the hilt of a katana once owned by 16th-century samurai Takezo Kensei, possibly the earliest known manifestation of the symbol.

This katana is held by future Hiro and sought by present Hiro. The symbol also appears on the replica of the sword, which was stolen from the museum by Hiro.

Printed on the front of Chandra Suresh's book, Activating Evolution.

Printed on the upper-left corner of the 14th issue of 9th Wonders! comic book, written by Isaac Mendez.

On a necklace worn by the Haitian.

On a picture of Niki as "Jessica", painted by Isaac. The symbol was hidden under an extra layer of paint. (Later on, Jessica hides the symbol under a layer of foundation.)

Drawn on a Greyhound bus sign, seen right before D.L. spots the runaway Micah in the episode "Homecoming".

The branch in the tank of Chandra's lizard.

Formed by shards of broken glass on the hallway floor when Sylar attacks Mrs. Bennet.

Seen in the form of an ice sculpture as a dolphin in the kitchen of a Las Vegas casino.

On the poker chips from Linderman's casino.

On the "About Us" page at Primatech Paper Company's website as part of the Heroes 360 experience.

On the sign behind Hiro and Ando when Hiro tells Ando to go home in Unexpected

In the sand where Nikki buries the bodies of the men that she (Jessica) killed.

BTW I am not that much of a Heroe's dork. I got the info from Wiki.

I don't think he's dead, but I bet he will be dead or depowered by the end of the season.

He was definitely alive at the end of the episode, Eric Roberts said that he's sedated. But I agree that he'll be gone by season's end. He's nuts and has the strongest power we've seen by far, at least in terms of destructive potential. Too much of a wildcard to have running around.

Why couldn't the Haitian erase Eric Roberts' memory of Claire? wouldn't that be simpler than the shooting, fake escape, and HRG erasure route?

Well, we don't know who Eric Roberts notified (he's not 'the big boss') about Claire. Also, I think that HRG finally realized that he couldn't control things and keep her safe forever. Even if they were able to cover up this episode, it's likely that they would find out about her eventually.

You are so smart, Ms. T.

This episode was so freaking awesome. I was left speechless. Everyone has pretty much said what I was thinking, so I won't repeat.
I love the theory about Matt's child potentially being a target. If that is in fact his baby.
Eric Roberts looks horrible. In both the flashback and current.

Or, Eric Roberts (don't know his character name).

I think it's because his orders were to protect claire since they expected that she would gain powers and that original order supersedes the order that HRG gave to erase claire's mind, which in his mind would put claire in more danger.

What I also forgot to mention was whether Hiro's dad is higher up in command than Eric Roberts. Because during HRG and Hiro's dad exchange, he basically forced the child onto HRG. I also wonder if Hiro's dad knows of his power, or else why would he bring his son up to the roof to meet with his conspirators.

Or was that on Doctor Who? I'm getting all confused!

Here's what went through my head-is HRG a good guy with bad intentions, or a bad guy with good intentions? This show was fantastic-just got done watching it. Of course, I erased it, also, thinking I had gotten everything out of it the first go round. Now I wish I still had it. I don't remember Haitian saying something about answering to someone else...Linderman, maybe? And let's give some props to Mr. Muggles-he kept his cool with Ted, right? Not many spazzy little dogs could keep it together like that!

I just rewatched this ep. again. When Matt and HRG went back to the paper factory, HRG confronted the Haitian about being able to speak and who all knew about Clair. The Haitian stated that he, Matt, & HRG were the only ones who knew of Clair's powers. The next scene was at the Bennett home. Here's what I'm getting at..... Who contacted Eric Roberts to come to the house?? After everyone got outside and Clair was in the house with Ted, Eric told HRG that it was a good thing he called. Do you think the plan for the Haitian to take the fall was hatched on the way to the house???? I think I answered my own question, but at the time, they didn't know what was going on at the house. Clair was playing possum when they left.

I found that Matt was pretty cool this ep. He kept it together and didn't get all nerved up, but what'd he do with the diamonds??? Now he's at the paper factory. Someone better call his idiotic wife and tell her he's gonna be late for dinner.

I haven't said this before, because I thought it was pretty obvious, so either no one has said it because they think it's really obvious, too, or no one else has thought of it. Which I find strange.

I'm 99% sure the symbol is a segment of DNA. Specifically, the segment that gives people powers. here (http://www.biologycorner.com/resources/mRNA-colored.gif)'s a DNA segment to prove my point. (Okay, technically it's an RNA segment, but an RNA strand is more or less half a DNA strand, and this picture was the best I could find.)

So... I think that's what it is. I think the Japanese symbols that combine to make it are supposed to show something to do with destiny or something. But I prefer the scientific explanation, of course.

It may well be that the plan was hatched after the "group hug" moment on the front lawn, at the first moment that HRG had a chance to communicate with the Haitian without his boss finding out (it just happened off-screen during a moment that didn't need air time). In fact I think we're probably supposed to assume that HRG's wheels started turning the moment he looked up from his family and saw the recruiter looking at him with that smug smile.

I have to admit the last scene with Claire & HRG on the bridge made me a bit verklempt. I think it's obvious HRG started out as a "company man" but raising Claire made him change his tune. Is it just me or did it look like in the flashback with Claude on the bridge that HRG was holding the gun but didn't really fire the first shot, like something or someone else made it happen? Like there may be another invisible guy or someone with Sylar-like kinetic powers. Cause I don't think HRG wanted to shoot Claude-but on the other hand I was thinking why the hell didn't he make himself invisible when the gun came out?

My take on that scene was that HRG was shocked that he actually DID pull the trigger the first time. I think he AND Claude didn't think he would do it. That's why Claude didn't disappear, he never expected HRG to really shoot him and once he shot him a second time, he figured he better make himself less of a target to get away.

I went back and watched it again and it sure looked like that first shot was an accident or totally unexpected. It hit Claude in the right shoulder. The second shot was intentional, he cocked the gun before he shot him in the left shoulder.... then Claude tried to disappear, HRG yelled that he should have told him who he was hiding. He cocked and shot again as Claude vanished. HRG then fired a 4th shot at thin air...... but I saw no fatal shots.

That would make them the Heros with the power of incest!

Ok, I just watched the scene on the bridge w/HRG & Claude again online (slow day at work). On the one hand, HRG may have shot him suddenly like that on purpose, knowing he'd have to catch Claude off-guard or he'd just disappear. But, on the other hand, he looks startled when the gun goes off & Claude alluded to the fact HRG has done this before so it's not like he's new at this & doesn't know how to handle a gun. As the shot pans out HRG even seems to be looking at the gun like WTF?

But seriously, what is this bridge, like the doorway to the school in the train station for Harry Potter? I mean, if you wanted to shoot someone & not be seen, how about the woods? Or PrimaTech? Why the bridge? Is there a secret portal or maybe a hero lives under it like a troll?

I agree. It's just odd. And it reminded me of that time Niki attacked the guard and broke his little billy club and then looked surprised that she did it. Not that it's connected or anything, I'm just rambling...

No, two different women. I included links to both in my post if you want to compare them. I still can't figure out what Hanna's part is (computer chick)... if she'll be back or if it was just a way to get radioactive guy and Matt all fired up.

I read about Malcolm McDowell recently and I'm just so excited I can't contain myself. I think he's a perfect choice. My take on that scene was that HRG was shocked that he actually DID pull the trigger the first time. I think he AND Claude didn't think he would do it.

That's my take too. The inherent problem of creating a show where "unreal" events can be taken for granted is that we tend to leap to the improbable when trying to explain an unexpected occurrence. If this had been an episode of ... well, any other show that doesn't involve "supernatural" powers, we would totally have read it as HRG's surprise at what he was capable of, and I really think that's how they intended it.

Tim Kring just wants us to be "prepared" for the fact that Volume One of the series ends at the end of this season, and Volume Two picks up next season, with new heroes, new villains, new plots, new everything. He wants us to be ready for a totally different story. It's not all one continuous thing.

I'm sure he'll keep some characters, or have them show up every once in a while or something. But now I fear they might actually have Peter blow up New York. And I'm even more worried that Claire won't be around for Volume Two. Then again: Save the Cheerleader, Save the World. Clearly she's important. And clearly she's hot. But now that Hayden Penietteieieritieieiriee is such a big-shot, what if she decides to leave the show to strike out on a big movie career?! I need to go lie down. Too much anxiety over this.

I would be surprised if the network let him do that...I can't see NBC saying suuuure Tim, you have one of the only successful shows on our network, I see no reason not to completely change around the characters the fans love.

Hopefully they'll keep HRG/Claire/Eraser, Hiro, and Peter/Nathan/Linderman and just get rid of Nikki/DL/Micah, Mohinder, etc. Kinda like Lost introduced the Tailies and then killed them all off, but still kept the bulk of the original group.

I hope they don't change too much. I'd heard that they were sticking to one main story per season, but not the whole new characters thing. That would suck.

And if the actors really think it's they, and not their characters, that are hot shit, they should talk to Shelley Long and David Carusso.

I'm really pissed. I was on another forum I post and was reading the thread they have on heroes. Anyway, somebody posted a "spoiler" (they hid it though), but I figured it was relating to an episode that has aired already. Anyway, it wasn't, it was for mondays episode that is already out.

Spoiler text isn't good enough in that situation, you have to warn that it's about something that hasn't aired. Right? Sheesh

Sorry that you got spoiled, but I think saying something is a spoiler indicates it's happening in the future or is unknown to the general population. If it happened in the past, it's fair game. At least on these forums, I think that's true. So, what's the spoiler? Just kidding! Don't tell me... I want to be surprised!

On the other forum it's mostly used to protect people that haven't caught up yet etc.
