The other title could be Daddy Issues?? I just felt a VW bus with clutch problems... it named itself.:D

I was totally thinking that too. I'm glad it was a more light-hearted episode. I think we needed that, especially if we're about to head into Dharma shiz.

Sawyer had some great one-liners tonight.
Plus- there was Cheech!:D

Cheech was great. Loved Mom saying --I have needs! It's been 17 years. Then to show him with the headphones.:D

Definitely the best episode of the season. Could have been dropped in the middle of season one and it would have fit right in, which is always a good sign. I realized what the show has been missing all this time: the classic Hurley, Jin, Sawyer buddy scenes. Whenever those three hang out - or any combination of two of them - you know good times will be had. Hurley's insult to Sawyer, and Sawyer's "touche" was great.
Mostly, I'm glad we can all take it easy on the theories for a week.

The "Tricia Tanaka" thing was a total Family Guy shout out, right? Also loved this episode. I'm not one of those people that needs a giant revelation every episode, as long as the writing and character development is good. And tonight, it was great.

Are you guys for real? This episode felt like a parody of LOST.
Yeah, I laughed at some of the banter...but then it just became lame. The previews were once again misleading.
In all honestly, the show is headed down the same path as Greys Anatomy. And i'm really losing interest. I'm actually reaching a point where I wouldn't even care if it was cancelled.

I'm with you Firecat. It was an fun episode, I like the buddy scenes. It wasn't BAD, but it felt pointless. The only thing that helped the story along was the last 3 minutes where Locke, Sayid and Kate find Danielle.

Sawyer with the back top back nicknames was hilarious - Jumbotron and Jiminy Cricket... humor factor was high last night but I also felt it was just a bit too campy. Whatever, I enjoyed it more than last week...

Completly useless episode but I enjoyed it.... the previews are showing some good stuff but if they F us over again I am not going to be happy.

I agree that the episode had alot of the banter of old and was really funny, but it wasn't something "I'll be talking about at the watercooler" except that it was lame. An asteroid hits the chicken store????? I do love the van and their joy ride was great.
Ok, now my little ****SPOILER****
The local LA newscast last nite said that in 3 weeks, the episode will be about Locke and his wheelchair...... also a new cast member, a pretty brunette, who is neither a Dharma, an Other, or a crash victim will be introduced. She will stir up the love triangle.

I totally agree with you Firecat! In Tricia Tanaka's words - this was a puff piece.
I was left with one burning question - why do I still watch this show?

That's the thing - I don't necessarily need some jaw dropping island revelation every week. For me, the character development and great writing that took place last night made for a satisfying enough episode. Not to say that I don't love it when they focus on island mystery, but a nice episode that advances the story (like last night) is fine with me. It all depends what you expect when you sit down every Wednesday, I guess.

I totally agree with Schoonie. My favorite moments of the show go back to the first season when we were getting some great character interaction. And last night, it was just fine with me to see the guys together again, riding around in a van with the music blaring on an island in the middle of nowhere.

Did anyone miss that they found a BLUEPRINT of the ISLAND? Somebody should run over and give it to Kate and Sayid.
I needed the funny last night, we're in the middle of moving (which sucks), so I needed to laugh. Loved Hurley's lame comback...at least he tried :)

i thought the episode was good. it was great to see cheech and vincent. it was "light" and a nice break from the mysteries. however, i do think the nicknames and culture references were on overload and almost felt like ABC was going to add a laugh track.
also, why was desmond surprised to see sawyer? he should have known he was coming.
looking forward to sayid episode next week.

You guys are talking about not getting revelations every week etc., but when last did we really get anything? It's not like the last few episodes have been mind blowing.

Well, no, but at least last night's was entertaining and well written, which is not the same thing I can say for the Bai Ling Night of Terror. So I'm happy.

Funny enough, I didn't even hate last weeks ep that much. It still had that certain level of intensity that kept me interested, plus Jack got jacked.
The episode was so lighthearted, that when the final scene came around and Kate was all like "I think she's your daughter" I actually laughed. It was a poor transition from funny to serious.
Probably what's really getting me pissed is the way they are previewing the eps. They've been misleading for 2 weeks now, and maybe that's why I leave each episode feeling disappointed. You can't promise action and then not deliver. If there was a little more honesty in the marketing, I wouldn't mind it as much.

Honestly, I've been saying for forever that the problem with Lost isn't the show itself, it's the stupid marketing that makes it seem like every week something drastic and life changing is going to happen. It gives an unrealistic expecation for the show to its viewers. Does Heroes reveal earth shaking stuff every week? Do we get some awesome plot twist on Prison Break? On 24? No, I say to thee. So stop advertising it that way, ABC!

I learned a while ago that you gotta ignore the promos for this show, and you'll be a lot happier. I think that the producers have even come out and said that they have nothing to do with them. They totally oversell the show, it's ridiculous. And I can't imagine that pissing off the fans with the promos is really going to help the ratings slide.
That being said, I really enjoyed the episode. It was goofy and funny, and it was nice to see the rest of the characters interacting. It could have been placed better ... after last week's stinker, it was a little annoying to have another one that didn't move the story anywhere...

I really enjoyed this episode. I know some people didn't like it, but after last week's episode, which I hated more than I can say, this was a nice change. There were some very poignant moments, and a lot of humor. Hurley calling Sawyer "Red . . .neck . . .man" was just too wonderful. I am not sure I loved the use of the car as a vehicle--har de har, pun not intended, because it was a bit of a stretch, but I thought it was a neat way to break the tension that has been building for awhile.

I laughed, too. As Hurley was driving around in his van all by himself and the camera was zooming out, I was saying, "Please let it end here, please let it end here." And then, in classic Lost fashion, they blow anything good they have, and try to keep us ON THE EDGES OF OUR SEATS UNTIL NEXT WEEK. But really, I just hate Rousseau probably more than any character other than Claire.
I said it was the best episode of the season not because it was so gosh-darned hilarious or anything, but because I'm sick of Lost's bullshit. I don't give a shit about whatever happens to these people anymore, and I certainly won't lose sleep over who the Others are. And even though the episode was "campy", as we've all taken to calling it, I thought it was a heck of a lot more entertaining than the other crap. Think of it as the lesser of two evils. If J.J. came to my door and said, "You can choose between two things: I throw answerless mysteries at you every episode and continue to build without having any sort of climax or resolution; or, you can watch an hour of Sawyer giving people nicknames and teaching Jin how to say funny things," I would totally take the second option.
After the Jack-gets-a-tattoo episode last week, my roommate and his girlfriend actually got in a fight because she said she liked it, and he didn't. If this show continues any longer, the hatred will spread, and it'll tear our great nation apart! I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS.

You're right about that. I actually thought the show was gaining a little momentum after the Desmond episode... but after that tattoo episode I got angry and hit my cat in the head with a box of cereal. She's fine now, but if for some reason the next show is about something totally trite and annoying, like...Charlie or Kate, I'll put her in the oven. This shit wasn't acceptable even in season one.

. But really, I just hate Rousseau probably more than any character other than Claire.
In the past 2-3 months, I've watched season 1 & 2 on DVD then I watched season 3 on ABC.com and finally, finally I'm caught up to real time. If I would have known how annoying Claire is, I would have used another TVGasm nickname. (My Clair comes from a book.)
I've never had Lost previews to trick me into thinking something awesome is coming up and although the first season was the best, I think Lost is still really good and I'll continue to watch.

My advice: try to catch ABC's In Case of Emergency @ 9:30 before Lost starts. It's a totally different show, but it's a comedy that's actually FUNNY, so in the event that the Lost producers fail to deliver on any of their promo promises, at least you'll be in a good mood.
