So I hope everybody got a chance to watch the first episode of the latest challenge. B-side and I will be alternating recaps, and I'm up first. Expect it sometime tonight or tomorrow.
I thought the first episode was great. Let's be honest, nobody likes Danny, Melinda, Wes, or Johanna, so it's great that it seems everybody is targeting them. I like the idea to pair a Fresh Meat with an Alum and I love the idea of being able to choose the person to replace you in exile if you save yourself, not to mention the rest of the vote process.
Should be a great season.
What do you think of the Fresh Meat? What are your favorite teams?

Let's see. I like most of the Fresh Meat so far. I think the guy paired with Katie is one of my faves. Notice how he was draped all over her in every shot. Nice to see Katie semi-mellowed.
Wes and Danny are beyond annoying - the way they booted those fresh meat kids outta their room like they have any sort of seniority at all. I'm with you in loving that everyone is targeting the Austin kids.

What was with Danny making Ev carry all of their bags on Exile (at the end)? What a dick. I am sorry that Ev didn't go further. She had promise, I think. She just got stuck with the bad luck that is Danny.
And did anyone notice Johnny SHOVE Tonya off of that tree stump when they lost that tree stump challenge? What an asshole- I am suprised she didn't WHALE on him for that.
And I had to chuckle when I saw Coral being taken out on the stretcher in the season previews. I wonder what kind of injury she fakes this season? I like Coral for the amusement factor. But I don't think she puts her money where her mouth is. I don't think she is a great competitor or particularily athletic. Just a great big bully. But, an amusing bully, none the less.
And I LOVED IT when Wes said "Shut up, ya loud mouth" to Tina. I couldn't have said it better myself.

A great start to the season, I mentioned in the other thread...check out the entire Coral interview on mtv overdrive. It's really funny (she basically talks about everyone, with special attention towards danny and melinda).
I don't really have any fave teams. Although I want to see Coral and Tonya stay awhile, just for the drama. I also think Linette (partner of Shane) is really hot.
I really hope y'all recap this. It's better than the past three seasons combined. (Still, that isn't much.)

I think I saw this mentioned somewhere else...but its driving me crazy so I'm gonna vent about it anyway! Did anyone see where the Austin group was hanging out in the airport or wherever they were, and Danny is running his mouth about how these new kids are fresh meat and who do they think they are and all that crap? Who the hell do they think they are?? Seriously!! I wanted to jump through the tv and kick him in his left spleen. I'm still annoyed...just shut the hell up and go home you little weenie.

^Yeah, that was on mtv overdrive. They were going on about how the fresh meat are probably just tools or somethin'....lol, pot-kettle-black.

Did anyone see that Theo was on Last Comic Standing last night? I saw a glimpse of him, but didn't get to see his audition....Did he make it? Was he funny?

He was kinda funny. The audience favorite, and into the next round.
There is a thread about the show in the last section of the forum. ;)

I just watched this last night - not nearly so horrible as I had feared, and actually really entertaining.
I'm glad that they are targeting the Austin cast, because basically I hate all of them, like, a lot (Austin was one of my least favorite RW seasons), especially whiney Melinda and crazy Wes. Man, I hope they get Wes out next week!
And when did I start liking Coral? She's become so entertaining on these challenges! And her partner is hot! And look more of Tina and Tonya being crazy! Yay! all that is missing is Veronica ;) (Though I can't believe there's actually a challenge that she's NOT doing, ha ha.)
I like the Exile competition thing. Awesome twist. I wonder if anybody has told them that they could have won if they just did that second puzzle correctly?
This season has started out real great so far. To bad Mike isn't there, I miss that guy. This whole fresh meat thing didn't turn out as bad as I thought it would.
Danny and Wes are the worst. O well, one down three to go.

Actually - I kinda want Melinda to last a while, just knowing the longer she is on the challenge with a male partner the more jealous Danny will get. And anything that upsets Danny makes me veryyyyyyyy happy.

Is Melinda's partner the one who's gay? At the end of the episode, him, her and Johanna were all piled in one bed and he was all cuddled up next to her. My first thought was that Danny was gonna flip out!! Then I was sad because we couldn't see it.

Yeah - her partner was the gay one - but being a gay male doesn't stop Melinda from being attracted to ya - Exhibit A) Danny. :p

Isn't Melinda's partner named Jesse? Isn't Ryan gay also? That means there's 3 gay guys on the show? Awesome! I hope they have a threesome.

I like the Exile competition thing. Awesome twist. I wonder if anybody has told them that they could have won if they just did that second puzzle correctly?I like the Exile twist (and the pairing twist), too. The problem is that, now, they either have to top it somehow for future Challenges or not have any surprises. Anyway, I don't think they did tell them what they could've won if they'd finished the second puzzle. At least, I don't think they should've because it would give people who've gone in Exile before less of an advantage if they just dumb-walked through it like Wes did (obviously, I hope that Wes doesn't know so that he'll feel stupid for being stupid :p ).

Finally watched this; love the premise, I think the "winner determines order for next challenge" thing is great. Wouldn't surprise me if the producers rigged Coral to be pulled to make the first order-list, that ensures she has a better shot at staying around (determine order, watch others, better chance to win and determine the order again). Couldn't stand the way Wes just stood there and told his partner she was worthless - boy I bet that makes her want to work hard to keep him on TV!

I am beginning to like coral more and more as these shows go on. I used to think she was just a mouthy bitch (which she is), but that is so much more entertaining than being a whiny bitch like the austin cast. I'm always up for watching public mockery- let's face it, it makes good tv. AND being from austin, there is no one i would like to see mocked on television more than WES.

Truthfully, I think the last great cast of Real World ended with New Orleans--as an overall awesome cast--there have been members since then that have been cool, but mostly they're the same bitches in a different location. That said, the Austin cast was completely worthless, and the fact that so many were brought on for Fresh Meat makes me want to follow our fearless leader and choke on a pretzel. The audacity of Danny and Wes for kicking the newbies out of their room, so they could bunk together, was insane. Who does that, aside from those who think wide brim baseball hats are wicked cool? It's was like the rebirth of segregation. Didn't we learn in the 50's/60's that separating people based on skin, social class, or newness to a reality TV chain was, oh I don't know, wrong?
I know Columbia is a crumbling institute of its former Ivy League greatness, but how the hell did Johanna get in? She is a moron--not just based on her decisions--but by the company she keeps. That said, I laughed my ass of when Danny kept berating her for sending him in to exile, even though clearly the numbers were in his favor with or without her vote. At least find friends who are good at elementary adding and subtraction. No long division or multiplication required.
I love Coral--always have--so the fact that she's back, and with a kickass partner is excellent in my opinion. I can't stand Tina, Ye Old Ugly Big Mouth Bitch. She doesn't do anything worthwhile on these challenges, aside from instigating shit. I know she's good TV drama, but is she really necessary? Theo is a moron, and I highly doubt, if he got a job at Starbucks, he'd be able to figure out the espresso machine long enough to out-latte me. The things he says are so illogical, you have to either laugh or pity him. I have to wonder what happened to Katie to make her so mellow for the past two challenges or so. Did she go to anger management counseling? Long live angry Katie who smoked during challenges!
I think this is going to be a good season, but I'm quite curious what will happen to the fresh meat after the show is said and done. Will they be brought back for future episodes as full-fledged cast members or left brokenhearted along the roadside of reality TV failure?

Did anyone see Theo on Last Comic Standing? (I am too lazy to go back through this thread and see if it was discussed yet). He tried out and was accepted to the next round (I had no idea he was a comedian). So watch this show this week (NBC) - it's interesting to see him in a new light. And will be interesting to see how far he goes.
I wish Blair would do challenges (and I wish I could get MTV Overdrive on my Mac)!! Love me some Blair!

Good question - I hadn't even thought of that. Already I can tell that I like some of these meat people way more than the crusty oldies.

but, I finally saw the last comic standing with Theo on it and when he was talking to the camera, I think, he was like, Yeah, I have done some of the RR/RW challenges a few YEARS ago... and I thought to myself is he serious? Is he trying to make a joke. It sounded like he was being serious. I don't know, I just don't care for him.
