did anyone else watch the new show The Riches on FX last night? its starring Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver. anyway - they play travelers (a.k.a. gypsies) who are conmen and they accidently run a car off the road and the 2 people (last name Rich) inside die. well, turns out that the people inside were on their way to their new house... so the travelers decide to move into their house and become them.
it was actually quite funny and interesting. and i love minnie driver... i've never seen eddie izzard before but he was smart and funny. its monday nights at 10 on FX (a show to watch right after Heroes... when that comes back on)

I did watch it. I have been in love with Eddie Izzard for years. If you haven't seen his stand up you absolutley must see it. His humor is so intelligent. And he likes to cross dress...so it is odd to combine his two very different images into one person. Did I mention I loved him. Anyway. The show was really good. I hope the humor is able to come through...the drama is so intense. I thought Minnie Driver was fantastic. (and I'm not really a big fan)
I also think it is funny that the youngest son likes to wear girl's clothing...kind of a nod to Eddie's real life.

This show really caught me off guard!! I thought it was well done and Eddie Izzard does a Hugh Laurie like job of acting "American". I like the theme of a family of grifters seeing an opportunity to settle down. I need to research the whole american gypsy thing. I guess there's some sort of hierarchy with the gypsy clans that I'd like to learn more about. Once again, FX brings us a very unique and entertaining show.

I watched and liked it. Minnie Driver was so good and I liked Eddie Izzard a lot as well. Looks like it should be a really interesting show. I'm excited.

OH he is hilarious and I bet you have seen him before but didn't realize it. He's such a chameleon. He was one of the villians in Mystery Men with Ben Stiller, He was in the Avengers, Oceans 12, My Super Ex-Girlfriend....

Dressed to Kill is an absolutely must see (and own) DVD. It is sidesplittingly funny.

Oh Pooh - Eddie without his accent is a crime! I'll still check out this show. I just adore Eddie!

I was surprised by the fact that I did like the show. It was creatively done. I like shows that seem almost like movies yet allow for time for character development. I feel this is a show like that.
I was also surprised that I like this show. I knew the premise, but really didn't know what to expect. I hope they go into the gypsy clan more, and explain how the "family" works. That's one of the reasons I like Big Love on HBO. They get into the reasons behind their family units.
I'm looking forward to tonights episode.

Originally watched for Eddie and Minnie, but found the show to be delightfully well written and original. Unlike most shows, I don't feel like I have it all figured out in advance. It has a gritty and real feel to it. Slice of someone else's life. Everyone involved in creating and producing this should be very proud.

I loved this show. I started watching because of Eddie Izzard too but was surprised by how funny Minnie turned out to be. Does anybody know when the second season starts?

Has anyone seen The Riches on FX channel? I have long been a fan of Eddie Izzard, and of course was used to him as a cross dresser, but he wears normal clothes in this show and pulls it off beautifully! Though his little son likes to wear dresses on the show... The show is about a family of gypsy cons. I guess people would call it a "dramedy."
Anyway what do you guys think of the show? Who do you think is the best character? (I am partial to Eddie of course).
Season 1 is coming out on DVD tomorrow so at least I'll get to watch those all again while I wait for season 2 in March :D

I think we already have a thread for this.
I too love this show. I love Eddie Izzard and I can't wait for this show to come back. With the writers strike on though who knows when that will actually be.

Whoops! Sorry I made a new thread :) Thanks for moving it into the proper one.
What I read about season 2 so far is this: They have filmed 7 of 13 episodes of season 2. So, depending on how long the strike lasts, they will either do half-seasons (showing only the first half this year and the next half the next year once they finally can get them written and film them), or they will skip this season entirely and wait til next season when all are filmed. I think skipping it entirely would be a bad idea though, because then people might forget about the show.
So basically, who knows... it's frustrating but I hope they do start the season in March and just do a half-season if need be.

So, I found out the deal with The Riches. The 2nd season starts Tuesday, March 18th and will be 7 episodes long b/c of the strike. Of course, I wish it was longer, but what can ya do? I'm just happy it's back!

No problem! I do too!
I'm sure you've already seen some of these promos on FX but thought I'd share this link (http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid474442148?bclid=1370845002&bctid=1370847536) - it's got all the promos and some cool webisodes too. It made me miss the show so much!

Well - have ya'll been watching??? I want someone to gossip with! :D
I don't want to spoil to much for you guys in case the epis are on your dvr but the past two episodes have been awesome. The way Eddie handled the Dale and Pete situation was impressive (per usual). I love how he always comes through - definitely a guy you'd want to have on your side. And Nina? OMG - she's been a hoot!!

Oh my god - I just have to say that the previews for next week look soooo crazy! Eddie is questioned about Pete's disapperance, Minnie's parole officer might blackmail her and Sam tells someone that he discovered the blood on the carpet! I can't believe there are only 3 episodes left! I feel like they are gonna keep leavin me hanging and honestly my blood pressure can't take it....
