Does anyone know anything about Scifi's upcoming show Painkiller Jane? (http://www.scifi.com/painkillerjane/)

Seems like it's going to be pretty cool to me - Jane looks like sort of a cool action type heroine like Max from Dark Angel, or Sydney from Alias. I think it's based on a comic, but I'm not too familiar with that. But, from what I have seen, it looks pretty good to me!

I don't know anything about this show, but I'd watch it based on the name alone. I hope it's as good as Oxycontin Jim or my personal favorite, Vicodin Valerie.

Funny you should ask... I never heard of it until today and now you comment on it and they just contacted us about giving away a video iPod to tvgasm readers to promote the show, I was going to look over what the shows about and devise some poorly crafted shameless shilling of a contest and hopefully have soemthing up tomorrow officially announcing the contest.

A video ipod might be just the incentive I need to watch this show. I am the last remaining person in America without an ipod. When I was in line at the passport office for 3 hours on Friday I was sure envying the guy in front of me who was watching Monk on his ipod.

Scifi aired a movie called Painkiller Jane recently. Different actress, though. I love scifi (as in science fiction), but this didn't sound interesting to me at all. At least, the movie didn't. Maybe I'll watch the show.

Oh, and I don't have an ipod either.

You're not alone Tink! We'll be the last two remaining people in America without an ipod TOGETHER!

I plan on defiantly walking around with my Sony Cassette Walkman until it becomes illegal.

LOL. I don't even have a walkman. I'm the worst member of my generation. No Ipod. And no real interest in getting one. When I'm sitting around bored I read a book.

I don't have an Ipod. And I don't want one. But I do have a satellite radio. It rocks.

Hmmmm....this could be interesting. It's based on a comic by Joe Quesada (editor in chief of marvel).

Manl, I love my iPod - even though I went on and on about how I didn't get the big deal of them, and then I got one and was obsessed with it. So, I am an iPod junkie now, I think! That sounds like a pretty cool contest anyway!

But, yeah, I think this show sounds pretty cool...I have really liked the other original programs on Scifi (I love BSG and Dresden Files), so I expect that this will be good too. That girl in it was a really good villain in T3.

Firecat, do you know anything else about the comic? I usually really like comic book based stories.

Ooh thanks for the reminder.

Note to MadeYouLaugh - please put up the Painkiller Jane ipod contest so that I can win it. Thank you.

Nope. Right now my comic (graphic novel) reading is limited to the Marvel Ultimate series (Ultimate Spider-man and Ultimate X-men), and the new avengers. I think another series came out that had to do with wolverine, I need to check that out.

Firecat, I just got the new issue of the Joss-penned Buffy comic, so that's pretty much what I'm reading right now. I'm interested in maybe checking out the Painkiller Jane comics, because I do think that the premise sounds like it has a lot of potential. And I'm sure I'll be curious about some of the background setting stuff that they might not have time to flesh out in the series.

I think the series, judging from what I've read, should be pretty action packed, though, which would be fun to watch.

all the women of tvgasm get together and wrestle each other. the last one standing gets the ipod.

So? Did anyone watch it? What did you all think? I almost didn't make it past the first ten minutes because the schizo camera work make me a little seasick. So I didn't actually watch a lot of it, but I listened and it wasn't that bad. I doubt I'll tune in again, though. The only show I'm willing to put up with Shaken Camera Syndrome for is Lost, and lately I'm barely tolerating that.

I actually thought it was pretty good. I think it did a good job setting up a lot of possibilities for the rest of the season - where did Jane's powers come from, particularly, and the whole neuro situation that definitely seems a little conspiracy-esque to me.

I thought Loken did a good job as Jane - she has a nice ability to seem both tough and vulnerable at once. And also I'm really looking forward to watching her get into full on fighting mode.

Is anyone else still watching? I think that this show is consistently improving as it goes along, and I like how it is actually sort of addressing some things I didn't think it'd go into - like the moral ambiguity behind making Jane get shot repeatedly because the team needs her to. I also like the variety of Neuros they have come up with so far - they have some cool powers!

I'm curious - how far in the future is this supposed to be? It has a very "changed/futuristic society" feel to it to me.

I can't find the original thread by madeyoulaugh about the PKJ iPod contest. I'm probably looking right at it, right?

Anyway, just wondering who submitted entries. And if myl is reading this, how many did you receive? For some reason, the number 8,000 is stuck in my head, but that can't be right, can it???

Madeyoulaugh

normally we get anywhere from 0 - 200 entries, this one brought in nearly 1500. . . its a lot to go through!

It's a pretty decent show.. i watch it when its on.

Decent cast.. but do not know if this will last and make it another season, Sci Fi has not had the run of the luck lately with its shows on Friday nites

I tried to watch it and then I had a few stored up on my DVR - never a good sign when they accumulate and I am not in a rush to watch. Then last Friday I hit the dreaded 100% full on my DVR and someone had to go.

Sadly Jane did not resurrect herself on my DVR after I killed her off.

Shame on you for killing that show, you need to be punished Tink for that.

I think I am being punished - twice tonight my DVR has frozen up and I've had to wait ages for it to reboot.

Is anyone still watching this show? I don't go out of my way to see it but if it's on and I'm around I'll watch.

Two observations:

1. Kristanna Loken is probably one of the worst actresses I've seen in a long time. Especially when she's being shot at or burned with a laser.

2. Madeyoulaugh never announced the winner for the iPod.

Really? You mean, like, post them? Here?!?

I think I'd rather play the real version if "I'll show you mine" with you than expose my lame artistic talents to thousands of people!

Hey MYL....methinks the contest prize should now be an iphone, not an ipod.
