Locke is at it again.

That makes 3 things he's blown up on this island. Hopefully his father isn't doused in gasoline.

Sawyer will now be able to get his revenge on the real Sawyer. Now all we need is Jack's dad to appear and Claire can get her closure too. (From the previews for next week) Looks like Sun is what I thought Kate was, unless they both are. Ben idol worships Locke. And who is going to die next week? Any guesses? Danielle? Alex?
This was an enjoyable episode.

I can't really trash Locke for this one....he screwed Jack over, and I loved every moment of it!

This episode was amazing!! Finally a flashback that was worth watching! Good lord I was so sick of the cheesy pointless ones before, but man this one was really good!
Locke blowing up the sub kinda sucks though... *shrugs*
I bet it's gonna be one of the newbie "who the hell are they" people that die. Take a crap in the hatch Xerxas guy or that other chick.... *nodnod*
Wait wait.. has anyone gotten a DUI lately? if so.. we can wave byebye to that char.

Ahahaha. Jack bested again! That's all I ask for in a Lost episode!

Nikki and Paulo flashback episode next week. No joke.

And Locke busting thru the glass and falling and the sound of his back breaking. nice.

His dad is in for a world of hurt. I wonder how Sawyer is going to learn of his presence on the island. AND learn that he is the real Sawyer.

And Locke is Ben's Messiah.

Hrmm.. just thought of something.
We've kept hearing the others say that since the event of the hatch blowing... their coms have been down.
And then Ben says tonight that no one will ever find the island.
So I guess for all of them, this means no more food being dropped from the sky then?
That's gonna be a world of hurt to the Others who have been living their little lives of luxery.
It's gonna be fun to watch them struggling to get by without their supplies and trying to live off the land like our lil castaways have been doing or well.. WERE doing.

Actually that brings up another point. Obviously someone knows where the island is. Those airplanes knew where to fly those supplies. So there is some whole gaggle of folks outside the island who know about the island to supply the island with foods and services.

And - in a sane world (which we all know is not the one Lost lives in) if you had an island full of people to support that suddenly went out of communications - you would send a team out to find why things suddenly went silent.

Does anyone have a decent explanation for the "magic box"? What the fuck is that?

One of the background others (he opened the door to where Locke's dad was being held I think) used to be on Newsradio, did he not? He'll likely have a bigger role in weeks to come.

He was also the man that offered Juliet her job with Mittelos in her flashback episode I believe.

Maybe the food drops come from some kind of automated food reserve on the island.

And the guy was from Mittelos who recruited Juliet. Yeah, what Chris said.

I am confused, when did they say that Locke's dad was the original Sawyer? I know it has been speculated about (just like Jack and Claire being bro/sis) but has it been confirmed? Don't get me wrong, I am of that belief but just want to make sure I didn't miss the big reveal?

Oh, and the guy that opened the door was on suddenly Susan, not newsradio

No, it hasn't been revealed yet. We're just speculating again. Right, right. Suddenly Susan. I always got those two shows mixed up.

You're right it hasn't been revealed. I was just speculating. But this episode really pointed it in that direction, he said he's been running cons a long time and the whole marriage con thing. Just seems to really lend to the connection to James Ford. AND now he's on the island and can bring closure for James Ford.

I think those airplanes would use the same homing beacon that the sub used, the one that hasn't been working since the sky went purple. So someone may be looking for the island/others and having a hard time of finding them.

I can't wait to find out what Rousseau is going to do next, she was the only one who wasn't captured.

I almost forgot: It looked like Jack was sporting a new big ass tattoo on his arm. Did anyone else see it? It looked like a big flower or something. I'll try and find a pic.

Added later: I just found a site where they show the same tattoo in an earlier episode. I was worried there'd be another tattoo-based storyline there.

Louis from Suddenly Susan - I had the biggest crush on him. I was then devastated to learn his accent was fake. (that happens to me all the time - like with Spike from Buffy)

Now is when we need the quiet pilot gasmii to speak up. I can't imagine flying a plane based on a beacon. Even if you did that the first time - wouldn't you know the coordinates after that? Unless they never use the same pilots twice. Which would mean they'd have a lot of risk letting numerous people know about the mystery island.

I almost forgot: It looked like Jack was sporting a new big ass tattoo on his arm. Did anyone else see it? It looked like a big flower or something. I'll try and find a pic.

I saw it too - thought that was new. Wonder if they have their own version of Bai Ling to help with island art.

Locke disappoints me... I feel so bad for him, after all he's been through and the horrible, shitty-ass life he's had, he finally gets a chance on the island to be what he never could be in the real world... and now he's acting like a BIG DOUCHY FRUIT CAKE. Why WHY does he keep doing everything that ben wants him to do? I mean after he realizes he's falling right into Ben's trap, he STILL does it.

Seriously, I understand why John wants to stay on the island, but can't he let his friends go home for god's sake?? He doesn't have to leave if he doesn't want to... Maybe he and Rose and Bernard can make some sort of arrangement and all live togeher and polyamorous bliss....

UGH. As for this "box" that Ben was talking about, I'm pretty sure that Ben knew exactly what Locke would wish for, and since Ben already had it he felt he could safely offer Locke "anything that you imagine or wish for". I mean... I thought the mystery of the island wasn't anything supernatural/magical right? SO... how could there be a magical wish box? Guess that would explain the polar bears, and hurley's van... I dunno,. This show is starting to just frustrate and annoy me, I gotta tell ya. Used to be so obsessed, but now its just like smoking--i only enjoy it half the time, but i can't seem to let it go just yet. :P

He does seem to have an innate ability to do the wrong thing in any given situation. You would think at some point he would get a clue that his judgement is not to be trusted.

How odd was it to see the pictures of Alex on Benry's wall. I mean I know we are being led to believe he is her father (which by the way- I'm thinking he really is. I think he and Rousseau hooked up at some point). But seeing happy smiling childhood photos seemed so out of place.

This show is starting to just frustrate and annoy me, I gotta tell ya. Used to be so obsessed, but now its just like smoking--i only enjoy it half the time, but i can't seem to let it go just yet. :P

I am still obsessed. I still count down the days until Lost is on and get all giddy. When it is on - I have to move to the couch so I can give it my full attention. I usually start out laying down but something always happens to get me hopping up and sitting on the edge of my seat.

Seeing Locke get thrown from the window - that was very cool (in a bad way). Seeing Locke's dad in that room. OMG! How can you not still be excited by this show?

That entire exchange between Locke and Benry was hilarious! The verbal sparring was top notch and Locke was one upping Ben over and over. It almost made me not so made when he pulled another "Locke" by blowing that sub.

Well, Ben said that he found out he had a tumour on his spine and a week later a spinal surgeon fell out of the sky, so maybe the MB did bring them.

"Anthony Cooper, Adam Seward" is anagram for "Sawyer, the con man, a poor dad".

Saw this on another site. If this is anything more than a coincidence the people that write this show are doing some good drugs to get them to think this up.

PaulieWalnutz
03-22-2007, 09:31 AM
actually let me restate that.

It is crazy that there are a whole bunch of people out there that take the time to anagram out every name in a weekly tv show. Got to love 'em

Am I the only one who doesn't think there really is a "magic" box? I think that Ben anticipated Locke's moves and had Cooper kidnapped. Maybe I'm too much of a realist.

Great ep, though!

I think he was speaking figuratively - then again this show might prove me wrong and there just might be an actual magic box full of polar bears and black horses and Jack's dad and other things.

We know there is something mysterious about the Island though. It has cured people already (so we believe). Maybe the island can deliver certain things, or maybe it's like the movie vanilla sky...lucid dreaming.

I love Ben. He is so perfectly creepy and witty, and the actor's delivery is great.
The losties will now hate Locke more than they hate the others.
Seeing Locke's dad sitting there was unexpected. Seeing Locke fall out of the window was unexpected. I thought this was a very good episode.

I agree. I don't think there is a magic box unless Locke had made his dad appear a long time ago as Ben told the guy to bring him in

That is what I was thinking! Also, he told him that Jack would be leaving and the sub wouldn't come back so he could have just let Jack get off that GOD DAMN ISLAND and stop being so selfish. Stay on the island if you want you QUACK!

I just read the recap and a good point was made..... maybe Locke's shirt is wet because he submerged the submarine and made it look like he blew it up..... not really giving the manipulative Ben what he wanted.

Yeah, maybe there hasn't been a food drop since the sky turned purple and that is why we had that odd throw-away line about being out of Dharma oat bars a week or two ago?

I don't know about that Locke. I can completely understand not wanting to leave the island but if a rescue party ever showed up couldn't he just refuse to be rescued? Or go hide until they leave? I think he was pretty selfish to do something that would (allegedly) make it impossible for anyone else to ever leave. It's not fair for Locke to make that decision for everyone.

I am confused by something Ben said. He told Locke that maybe Locke wants to stay on the island because he is so afraid of his father. But then he said the magic box would bring you whatever you wanted the most. So does Locke want to see his father, or does he NOT want to see his father? And if he wants to see him, why? To punish him? To yell at him? To ask him why? Or to try to get him to finally be the father Locke wished he was?

I think that Sawyer wished for him/Locke's father to be there, and Ben believes that since it's Locke's father Locke must have wished for it.

Maybe the mystery box could also be a way home for the Lost survivors. Maybe they could wish Shannon back on the show.

If that's the case - your dvd player can be the magic box and Season 1 can make your wish come true. :p
