New episode tonight - I don't think Gwen is going to be a good coach - I will be suprised if she is.
On a related note I found this on the washington post website and I appologize if it has already been posted but I think it is funny - Sanvajayjay got called out!

I don't see Gwen being very interested in coaching them. I am surprised she's even doing it.
That Washington Post item is hilarious. I want to post it at my workspace, but it's probably not "professional" or some crap like that. I like the "biggest fan" best!

If Gwen comes as Gwen then I think it will be nice to see her in a new light... but if she comes with all those scary asian chicks... well, then we will have a party of a different kind.......

Ditto. I really believe he's just making fun of the whole thing at this point. Or at least I hope so.
And I like Gwen Stefani as much as the next person, but could she have said "If he just sings the melody...." one more time?
And what exactly was the theme? Songs Gwen Stefani likes?

Sanjaya was so craptastically awesome. I have no words.
I thought it would be difficult, nigh impossible to top the comedic stylings of kiddycrazycryingpants of last week. But then, as if by magic, the hair appeared onscreen. It wasn't just hair - it was as though my TV had been touched by the hand of the Lord. See, God cares about the important stuff.
Oh, I guess I did have words.
Rock on, Mr. Maladroit, rock on.

OMG...THAT WAS GLORIOUS! I'm so in awe. The lyrics were very interesting...(not sure if he changed part though, can't remember)
I don't fit in so why do you want me?
And I know I can't tame you...but I just keep trying
And I agree about Gwen, she looked gorgeous. I owe her alot, I could never spell "Banana" before...I always thought there were 3 N's...
Blake and Haley were nice...could have been better. Same with Chris R.
I thought Jordin was terrible. The whole thing didn't suit her, and it looked like she really struggled.

I thought it was terrible too! So did the two other people I was watching with!
We were shocked that the judges thought it was good. Hear her last week compared to this week and it's like two completely different people.
Sligh's going home tomorrow.

I am frightened for Sunginas longevity on earth...What kind of hair dresser let that happen? You know when he left the make up room they were rolling on the floor laughing...... his family in the audience even looked embarrassed....
I think Haley was really bad tonight could she have sung any quieter???-- most of them were.. Chris S.. Chris R.. Haley --sunny-boy... any one could go home... but yeah Chris you are spot on about Chris S... it is hard to top how incredible bad that performance was.

Before they cut to a commercial they showed him and another contestant, I totally had a Sanjayagasm.
This kid must stay on for at least 3 more weeks.

I'm not sure I agree that Chris S. was that bad. Yes, he was horrendously off the beat, but his voice didn't sound that bad. And that shirt did his weight NO favors last night.
I didn't think Haley sounded as bad as the judges did, but I agree that Jordin sounded much worse than the judges thought. I would be interested to see what they think after listening to it on TV. A lot of them had bad nights. I think Gina was probably my favorite of the night.
RachWho?

Gina did rock it. She was the only one, to me, who really seemed like an Idol last night. And I realized who she looks like finally--Annabeth Gish. I mean, a wannabe punk Annabeth Gish, but still.
Melinda, Blake and Phil were pretty good.
LaKisha just isn't doing anything for me anymore, but I am sure she is safe for a while with the crapbags we have left.
Chris R. needs more confidence, I think he was shaken last week being in the bottom 2.
Haley was just okay. Looked too old again this week.
Jordin was weird to me, I know what she was trying to do, but I didn't get it, and she seemed uncomfortable, especially delivering the line, "All the boys get the girls in the back"
Worst last night for me were Chris Sligh, who sang well but was so off tempo and just wasn't having fun, Chris R., and Sanjaya, which really needs no explanation.

Chris Sligh is going home tonight. He was just so far off tempo that I was unable to enjoy his voice (which I like).
Gwen was a lot better at her critiques than I thought she would be. I loved that she looked like a natural beauty and left the red lipstick at home for once.
Gina was good last night, but to pull an oposite of Paula, she looked fat in her tooo tight outfit. That shirt she had on was doing her no favors.
Sanjaya was a mess as usual. I really like the bathwater song and he sort of ruined it for me. The faux hawk had me giggle like a little school girl.
Blake is growing on me each week. I agree that he is the best of the males.
Phil and all his pastyness. He did a great job on the police song. He looks like the bad day guy to me.
I missed most of the show. How did Melinda do?
ScotyUtah
03-28-2007, 08:31 AM
I wish the contestants would stay the hell away from trying to cover anything by the Police. None of them have ever done a Police song justice. Ever.
Whatever Sanjaya is doing almost feels like taunting to me. He's daring the nation to boot his ass and the hairdressers are co-conspirators in the madness. It's actually brilliant in a bizarro world kind of way. Melinda seemed to be in cruise control last night. Good but didn't have the "yo factor".

After the season were Fantasia won, I swore off this show,
My wife still watches it all the time so it is always on in the background.
I am not going to lie to you, I am actually watching it again if only to watch the trainwreck that is Sanjay. There is no way he is going anywhere becuase he brings humiliation to a whole new level and evil people like watching it. The poor kid. I don't think he is going to realize that everyone is making fun of him till he is 35 and in a mental institution (if only for the fo-hawk). It takes something special to get made fun of on SNL at 18 years old.

Yes, Sanjaya will have those making fun of him for a while to come, but he'll also have those who love him forever, like me. :)
Plus, I'm sure his family will keep him grounded. Look at all the Idol kids that didn't make it now. Sanji will go back to not being in the spotlight some day. As for now, I think he's handling it beautifully. He's not apologizing for being who he is and that's admirable.

Well, back to reality... Sungina is still there and Chris Sligh is gone.... if it had been Haley, eh, it wouldn't have been so bad but even you Malakar fans have to admit he cannot sing. So Simon is right,.... it doesn't matter what they say to him, what we as normal, rational, fans think... He will not be going home. I for one would never buy a product this kid put out and isn't that the point? Do you really think Howard Stern fans, once they have their way and use this boy like a snot rag... are going to support him in his music career? What community of tards will for the long haul support him? Sure he may stand up at a family reunion and sing .. and honestly that should have been the extent of his performing..... but what stadium is he going to fill? What community theater is he going to sell out or even sell enough tickets to pay for the A/C and lights?
The judges are to fault for this train wreck and hopefully in future years they will not be so flippant in their top 24 choices.
This is the equivalent to having William Hung invited to the top 24.
A travesty I tell you ... a travesty!
(this will be my last clear thought of the day... I am now opening the Vicodin bottle)

Sanjaya sucks. I'm not disagreeing with you on that one, Giff, but it's not the same as putting William Hung in the top 24. He's initial audition was good. To be honest, I have no idea what he did in Hollywood as I didn't watch, but the kid initially seemed to be able to carry a tune, and carry it well.
I'm not said to see Chris Slight (thanks, hb) go. He wasn't any good this week, he was wearing on my last nerve, and I was tired of seeing his face. He did absoulutely nothing for me.
Haley is dull, dull, dull. I'm bored to tears with her and I'd rather see her go before Sanjaya at this point. At least Sanjaya gives us something to talk about.
I'm not surprised that he's around. America is voting. Our track record speaks for itself.

Your right about hung peg.... I am just tired of this kid... and Haley... and Chris deserved to go....I just think Sunjaya didn't deserve to be there in the first place... I am depressed a bit I guess.. usually this crap rolls off my back and here I am ...acting like I care.
If Stern and his likes can do this week after week... how do you think they could effect the next presidential race??? split a vote once again?
And can I just state as bad as it seems... if John Kerry was in the office... I would have had to puke up a bit every time I had to watch him in front of a microphone representing me as an American, to the world... Could the Dems not have come up with a better candidate?
OMR where did I pass 400!

03-29-2007, 09:32 AM
Here's the thing, Sanjaya did have some talent, and he's watercooler fodder, as Peg stated. EVERYONE is talking about Idol...even people who don't watch it. And yeah, I know Idol is the kind of show that has had that power before, but let's be honest, this season really wouldn't have ANYONE talking without Sanjaya. The other thing is, he isn't completely awful in the voice department, and he is at least not a completely ugly human being. Take a look at Kevin Covais from last year and wonder why the heck he landed a spot in the Top 12.
As far as Stern goes, and I am a Stern fan, I listen every morning--Stern isn't asking his fans to vote for Sanjaya because there's any illusion that they will support any possible music career this boy will have. But I wouldn't say they are using him. You go on a reality show, this is what can happen. Sanjaya isn't going to win, but he will last a little longer because of the press and extra weeks on the show that Stern and others like him are giving the kid. Stern, as he does, whether you like it or not, is pointing out a crazy little point of American culture--that everyone is all in a frenzy over a little Indian kid who can't really sing all that well in a televised singing competition. The whole thing is ridiculous, yet entertaining.
And as far as your comments about the presidential stuff, I will end my reply there, 'cause I like you, and I wouldn't have anything nice to say about what I do every time I hear the person who is currently representing the American people. :)

Oh, I like you too!! And you can say your piece. I am not happy with what we have right now... I think serious problems should be handled but I also look at those who are trying to handle them and wonder....WTF is your answer.
My point was if Stern had gotten a large part of his audience who normally does not vote to vote it may have changed the out come. Now I AM saying John Kerry bored me to death and if he was prez I would cringe to look at him.... and my point is..... ALL THE WAY AROUND.... where are the candidates that won't make me ill.... either side....AND Sterna and other 'radio' personalities could sway the vote next time for say...Ross Peroit...... Ralph Nader...... Jimmie Kimmel????

Yes we still see the Ryan bits, the only backstage interviews after the performances were when they were reducing it down to the final 12.
Now Cat is just on between acts, sometimes with guests, Lulu was with her last week.
