I can't make up my mind! I remember seeing her in the water after the plane crash, and we know she was at the airport. But, why would she pop out of nowhere with a boat for Desmond? With a really bad wig? In 'Abandoned' in the scene where Cindy goes missing, when they are lifting Sawyer up the side of the hill, it appears as though Libby is carrying Cindy's blue backpack after Cindy disappears. I have only looked at screencaps, but maybe someone who can watch the episode has some insight?

Now, from Bad Twin we know that Cindy has a connection to the author of Bad Twin, maybe the Widmore's thought they knew too much and put them on the plane too? Did Libby possibly tell Cindy t run away, or did she help her get captured? Any opinions?

I thought Libby was an Other when I saw her in the hospital. Then on the LOST posts someone mentioned that she was probably planted there to keep an eye on that guy that kept repeating the numbers. I still keep that in mind every time I see her just to see if I can catch her up in any lies but so far nothing. TVWilliams has insisted that Kate is in on the whole thing and I'm starting to believe that as well.

I used to think that maybe Libby was a pathological liar... Maybe that's why she was in the hospital with Hurley and she was lying to everyone about being a shrink, and also maybe getting close to Hurley to use him in some way. Doesn't really hold up now because she was telling the truth about the boat when she offered it to desmond... unless she was lying about her husband... or something... who knows with this show!

I definitely don't think Libby was telling the truth about having a dead husband or where she got a sailboat or why on earth she was randomly giving it to some stranger she met 30 seconds ago in a Starbucks. Seems more likely to me that she works for Papa Widmore and was trailing Desmond for him - that he wanted Desmond to join the sailboat race so Libby offered one up to Desmond, possibly rigged to take him off course somehow and land him on the island far away from his daughter (not my own theory, I wish, but I can't remember where I read it). Why someone would go THAT far to keep some guy away from his daughter, I don't know...seems extreme even for evil corporate conglomerate CEOs.

So anyway, my point was I don't believe there is a dead husband named Dave.

In an exchange with Hurley, where he told Libby he didn't remember her from the plane, she said something like, "I can't believe you don't remember me. You stepped on my foot on the way to your seat." This doesn't seem possible, as Libby was in the tail section and Hurley was in the central portion, hence the particular group they were with on the Island. Also, Hurley was the very last person on the plane and they made a big deal of emphasizing that, even to him hugging the attendant at the boarding area when she finally let him on the plane. So Libby would have to have been all buckled up in her seat, and Hurley couldn't have gotten to her. It seems almost impossible that Libby could have mistaken someone else for a huge and distinctive guy like Hurley. So Libby seems to have made up the story. Was she actually even on the plane?

I'm pretty sure we saw her on the plane in a flashback at some point. I just can't remember when...

Killing her off without wrapping up her storyline was an aweful decision. There was so much ^potential there.

I've looked pretty closely at the plane flashbacks, and haven't seen Libby on the plane anywhere... at the airport is a different story... she was there. Now, that's not to say I haven't missed something... if you sneeze during an episode you may miss an entire plotline... but I haven't noticed her on the plane at all.

As far as killing her off when they did, don't forget that she _had_ to be dead by the time Desmond returned, or he'd have regognized her as the owner of his boat. I don't think that the writers want them to realize how interconnected their lives are, at least not yet.

Now, the fact that Libby lent a total stranger a fabulously expensive boat just smells of a complete setup. I suspect that the thing was rigged to bring Desmond to the island by Charles Widmore, where Desmond would finally be separated once and for all from his daughter. Libby was part of that setup and was in Widmore's employ. Those of us who believe that the Losties were intentionally _brought_ to the island (by Widmore?) might suspect that Libby's presence at the airport was also related to her work on that operation.

Maybe she's Jacob(s)....there is speculation as to whether it was meant as Jacob's list or Jacobs' list and her last name she gave could be fake and her real last name is Jacobs.

Discuss!
