Who else laughed really, really hard when it was revealed what Nikki actually said before she "died"?
And who else knew they weren't dead? They're too beautiful to be dead. Sucks about being buried alive, huh? Something is probably going to happen relating to Locke's "nothing on this beach ever stays buried" speech.
This was actually a pretty awesome episode except for how lame the plot was. But getting to see Boone and Arzt again? Priceless!
Next week looks fucking awesome. A good old wet T-shirt catfight.

I thought this episode was awsome. I loved every bit of it. The way they intertwined Paolo and Nikki's story into the past episodes was great. We got to see our old friends and found out why Paolo used the crapper in the hatch. That was a big question back in the original episode. I give it a BIG thumps up..... and I'm thinkin' it's not the last of them.
The whole ending was so "ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS". (remember that tv show)

Very good episode, although i'd rather have seen it earlier in the season. I'm still on a high from the last couple though.
Loved seeing Shannon again, even though she was acting very bitchy.

I'll say this: It was a good episode. But I have no desire to see Nikki and Paulo come out of that grave. Their story arc is over. They found their diamonds, the island gave them what they wanted. They have no connection to any of the other action on the island. The only other thing we could look at is how their relationship pans out from here but we're not at all emotionally invested in it, so why should we care?
I still refuse to acknowledge them as characters and think their only useful purpose was to lead an episode full of our favorite killed-off characters.

I thought for sure NiKki or Paolo would start to move before the entire grave was filled and Sawyer and Hurley would stop shoveling dirt and they'd be saved. Seeing that huge mound of dirt resulted in an out-loud Gasp! from me.

now please tell me i'm not the only one who went into convulsions after hearing that...
i actually though this episode was quite funny, i mean, as funny as lost can really be. there were some good lines in there for Hurly and i was just cracking up.
also, i was actually incredibly happy when nikki and paulo died. i know thats kinda mean but chris is right...

oh and, has everyone totally given up hope of being rescued that theyd just dump millions of dollars worth of diamonds in a grave of ppl they really didnt know??

Last night was good. I think Nikki and Paolo will stay dead.
It was great seeing Boone and Shannon again. Loved it.
Weird how he discovered the hatch before everyone else and saw that Ben was planning on trying to get Jack, but he never told anyone.

I thought it was cool how Vincent knew they were alive by pulling the tarp off of them.
As stated before the writers did an amazing job showing the flashbacks on the island from a completely different perspective. It really showed a lot of things in a different light. I especially enjoyed when they showed the scene if people wanted to volunteer to go to the pearl station and Paulo didn't want to go and now we know why. I guess it shows the writers have more planned out than we may have expected.
The whole ending was so "ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS". (remember that tv show)
LOVED Alfred Hitchcock Presents!!!!!!!!!!!!1
This was a great episode in the fact that we got to see our old friends again. I love the ensemble shows when we can see alot of the cast interacting.
But, it only answered the question, "who the fuck are these *********************, and why are they here?"
Ok, now it's answered, bury that storyline, and move on!
Why are they blocking out the fact that these actors are MIDSEASON REPLACEMENTS?????????????

I agree, even though I was pissed they were wasting an entire episode on 2 new Losties. (Yes, they were both attractive but so dull!) Buried alive has to be one of the worst ways to go. Especially when they made it seem like Nikki woke up while they were dumping the sand in their grave. (shudder)
I thought it was cool how Vincent knew they were alive by pulling the tarp off of them.
Me too! When I saw him do that I thought, oh geez they aren't dead!
I really wish Sun would have hit Sawyer a few more times, he really deserves a beating for all the con man stuff he does.

What's fucked up is that they're only paralyzed, so they were totally alert while everyone was talking about how they're dead and all they could do was lay there as they heard their graves being dug.

I work for an accounting firm and one of our partners watchse the show. He just came over to tell me he is back in (He had declared he was giving the show up a few weeks back) but he said he had one complaint. The diamonds - he said there was no way that small amount of small diamonds was worth 8 million. Not even if they had the best clarity and quality. Go figure a CPA would cry fowl on something money related.
whohoo. houseguest!
Congrats Paulie!
I am one of the few people who liked Nikki and Paulo based solely on the fact that I really like both of those actors and know they can bring a lot when they are given the opportunity to. Plus it didn't hurt that as much as Nikki was eye candy for the men, Paulo makes my heart race faster.
Not only is being buried alive a bad way to go - but I am about the most arachnaphobic person you are ever gonna meet. Seeing those spiders - OMG the shivers they caused in me!
Which reminds me - Artz said he found all kinds of new species of critter - but didn't he already seem to know what those spiders were? How are they new if they are known?
Did anyone else (besides Ells, cuz i was there for her reaction) scream with glee when Billy Dee appeared on screen? Love me some Billy Dee!

This had to happen before they had trapped Ben so Paolo was really the first to see him. If he had been allowed to interact with the in-crowd he could have told them that Ben was an Other all along.

I bet Niki comes back. This episode was okay. Nice to see Shannon and the way Niki and Paulo's island flashback inter-cut so well with what we'd already seen. And yeah, Sun needed to beat Sawyer down for what he did to her.

I'm with your accountant Tink and I am an accountant.
I thoroughly enjoyed how they wove the two of them into the story. There were so many things that I had forgotten and lots of aha moments.
As most of you know we got the multi-room DVR and so the boys watch lost in their own rooms, but preferably before midnight. So it's 11:53 and I'm out like a light and I hear..."Mommy, Mommy, did you see Lost yet?" I was like...uh what and Michael says, "how did the guy know the names of the spiders if they were undiscovered?" GO BACK TO BED!

If you wanted... you could nit-pick quite a few things about this episode.
Don't ya think Ben and Juliet would notice that someone had been in the hatch with all the dirt being gone from over the doors. I also think they would have noticed leaving a walkie-talkie behind. If not right away, but before they got back to their side.
I was totally suprised when it said '9 days ago' when they were in the Pearl hatch with Sayid. Alot sure happened in those 9 days when ya think about it. Locke blew up the hatch. Jack and crew were taken. Jack operated on Ben. Sawyer and Kate got away. Locke blew up the radio place and then the submarine. Why the hell was Ben worrying about not healing fast enough. The surgery had to of been only a couple days ago.
If I think about it enough, I'd think of more.... but that doesn't stop me from loving this episode. It was different and entertaining and most viewers got what they wanted.....rid of Nikki and Paolo.
that's what happened to the diamonds Matt stole

I didn't like this episode but damnnn Nikki was HOT, I didn't even notice until last night, now I regret making her character die. Their story was totally lame though, I didn't like it one bit. Also how come nobody checked for a pulse? I get the paralyzed bit but they still had to breathe and they still needed a heartbeat, Why did no one check their vitals? Does no one on the island know how to check for a pulse?????????
Also I was kinda disappointed with Sun's punch/slap to Sawyer, I expected more, or maybe a twist, like Sun somehow is a trained kickboxer lol.

I liked seeing all of the survivors in the on-island flashbacks. I really liked a lot of the old characters, besides Shannon of course - seeing Artz was cool. It was a nice call back to a time before the Others dominated the storyline.
And I liked the filling-in-the-gaps aspect of the on-island flashbacks.

They did check for a pulse, but on the wrist and I'm pretty sure that the better place to check is the neck (at least taht's what my first aid instructor said waaaaaay back in the day). Nikki also (conveniently) said that the bite would slow the heartrate down so much that even a doctor wouldn't recognize vital signs. rrrright. I want to know how Artz woudl have found this out without having tested it or witnessing it firsthand.
If a spider bite were that bad, wouldn't there be HUGE bite marks?
right, right, suspend disbelief. Keep forgetting.

It's seeming more and more obvious that the writers/producers pay attention to fans (for example, Sawyer asking... repeatedly... "who's she?" in regards to Niki) so I'm wondering if they had bigger plans for these two characters but decided to just kill them off because there was so much backlash from the fans about them.
I bet Niki comes back.
Well if anyone comes back, my money's on Niki. I think Paulo really is dead. He received multiple bites. If one can paralyze you and slow your heartbeat down so it's imperceptible, I would think a bunch of bites would completely stop your heart.
Nice to see Shannon and the way Niki and Paulo's island flashback inter-cut so well with what we'd already seen.
Did anyone else pay more attention to the things happening in the background than to Niki? I spent most of the time trying to figure out if they re-shot everything or if they green screened Niki and Paulo in. (I figured it out when Boone asked if they had a pen).

I thought both Boone and Shannon were wearing really bad wigs - so that was a key. Plus the camera angles - it's like everything was rotated to the right so you saw things completely differently.
Which means they spent a lot of money on effects and pyrotechnics and stuff - all over again. And I LOVED every minute of it. :w00t:

not that I think it makes any difference, but Paolo got bitten by the female spider that Nikki threw on him, but the doc said that the pheromone from her would attract all the MALE spiders and that's what bit Nikki. I have no idea how the male spider's poison would differ from the female's, but it could make a difference as to how "paralyzed" they were. More venom or something.:confused1:

Normally I would delete a post like this as spam and ban the user. However, since you have posted before and not always with a spamish message I'm gonna cut you some slack.
I'm gonna redirect this post to the existing Lost discussion thread.
But - in the future - try to add some content beyond your straight up advertising bud. It's really not cool.

If I remember correctly, back in season one there was talk about how we'd meet more of the Losties (over 40 were on the beach at the time, I do believe). The problem was they waited until season three to do it, and that just messed people up.
Which I think sucks because I'd like to see more of the survivors being brought in instead of just milling about in the background.
There has been a lot of interconnection between characters' pasts, and possibly a reason all the main characters ended up there. So what about the lowercase others? Was it just their bad luck that the forces that brought the main characters to the island had no choice but to bring them too?
So I'm sad to see these two go. It was jarring when they first started appearing, but it's nice to get a reminder that there are more than just 9 or 10 people trying to survive.

That's a very good point, something the writers/creators didn't consider. So it seems. Everyone has a story, and reasons for being on the Island.
However, I'm not 100% sure, but maybe they did something on the Internet or through some other media about stories from others on the Island. I only follow the tv part of the show....so maybe somebody else knows more on that.
