Mirna and Charla and Eric and Danielle being part of a "fun" final three? Somebody tear up Mirna's dictionary, because it keeps feeding her definition lies.

The good news - the BQs came in second.
The bad news - previews have me worried.

I want Mirna and Charla to lose badly, but as part of the final three with the BQs and ChaChas. One gay team and two all-female teams? How great would that be?

My girls, Charla and Mirna, were nothing short of absolutely adorable tonight. They had fun, they had spunk, and they sure as hell are not going to let anything come between them and the finish line.

Now. Challenge for this week, TVGasm... Can we discuss a television show without endlessly berating the people on it and trying to pass that off as discussion?

Charla and Mirna are asshats.

I guess the answer to your question would be "no". Sorry.

If Charla and Mirna can get through a non-American country without using patronizing accents and kidnapping a local, I may consider it.

Yeah Chris- I agree. Your girls are a-holes (especialy Mirna). I cannot root for them, so I'll have to be a bitch and wish them to be eliminated next week.

I love the cha-cha's- but why did they get to use the FF when they already used it with Joyce and Uchenna before?

That's right, it can normally only be used once, can't it?

Oh, and Chris? I do understand your pain, but from the opposite end of the spectrum. Last season's Big Brother, it seemed like everything was just about how wonderful Jan-friggin'-elle was. Trust me, too much praise toward someone you don't like is just as annoying as too much invective toward someone you do.

But that said, at least my dislike for Janelle was rooted in some sort of reality of who she is. :D

I find Mirna & Charla much more entertaining than Eric & Danielle as far a tv show goes. Charla using her heelies was cute.

The fast forward was lame as hell. The last one was too....... and I think you guys are right about only getting to use it once.

Way too much airport drama again. I didn't think the tasks were ever going to get going and they certainly weren't very hard either.

Boy, I'm really complaining tonite.......

Go ChaCha's !!!!!!!!1

I missed the first half (damn you beer and socialization!), but from the sounds of it, I didn't miss much.

I think they changed the rules regarding FFs last season since they introduced the intersection.

You know, I really don't mind Charla that much. It's Mirna who really bothers me. I especially liked Charla the first season this team was on--carrying the side of beef through the streets and eating ostrich eggs and pounds o' caviar was amazing. I was thinking last night, how cool would it have been if they got rid of Mirna and had Charla and her husband be a team? Two little people on the Race? Now that's a team I could root for!

I absolutely love the Cha Chas. I wish they were my neighbors. I'd hang out with them any day.

What is with the FFs being so dumb this season? Counting steps? Riding along in a stunt car? I bet BJ and Tyler are pissed they had to eat a mountain of crickets to get a FF. I thought the challenges this season were supposed to be hard? They aren't. It's no different from any other season, and in some ways it's easier. No parachuting, no bungee jumping, it's kind of boring. I expected much harder challenges and now it's almost over and we haven't seen anything that seemed really difficult.

i was also confused about the FF rules, i was so scared that they would get to the mat and phil would tell them that they had already used one.

what was with the gnomes? remember when they had to find the gnomes and the one that had a symbol on the bottom was a prize? did i miss something, or did the gnomes just go along for a ride with the teams?

the drama at the airport was INSANE this week, and color me sad that it was a non-elimination leg...i was so excited to see eric and danielle almost gone.

Product placement. They're sponsered by Travelocity, so they have to plug them as much as possible, even if it means toting little garden gnomes around like a group of tards.

I'm really disappointed with the tasks this season. They are way too easy. It seems like the main thing that determines the order of the teams is their arrival time at the airport. The tasks aren't difficult enough for any team to get "stuck". The other deciding factor is the ability to hire cabs to follow when the teams have to drive. I think that they shouldn't have been allowed to do this during an all-star season. They should have to use a map/get directions/convince a local to come with them.

What are the chances Mirna will do another Roadblock this season? Charla seems to everything! I had thought that maybe Mirna was a big sissy, but now I'm wondering if Charla wants to do as much as possible to show that little people can do anything average-size people can do. Anyone else have an opinion on this ?

I agree Angie... the 'follow a taxi, kidnap a local' part of the show sortof ruins the spirit of the race. The race should NOT depend on how good you are at getting flights at an airport. I would much rather there be a 3 day hike through the amazon, or 2 day water rapid trip or SOMETHING to force the contestants to exhert themselves and have the strong rise to the top.

One note of a pet peeve---this ASSTAR season is turning into the battle of the hair roots. Danielle showed up sporting some dark roots..... Mirna and one of the BQ's are joining along.

Chris-- About your Mirna / Charla love??? I find it very hard to see how its possible. I understand different strokes for diff't folks, but holy cow. The only reason I like them is they add some diversity to the show and give me someone to root against in the race. Plus i'm fascinated in seeing how charla does things considering her size. But the kidnapping of foreigners, screaming at travel agents, fake broken english, and failure to grasp reality make me want to beat them senseless.

I was confused about the gnomes too. I thought someone would win a prize.

Plus- I'm almost sure that when Phil was commenting on the FF, he said "can only be used once". Unless it can be used once as a team and once as an intersected team. How many FF are there anyway? When it gets down to three teams I thought they didn't have them anymore, and geez! Shaving your head and eating crickets is WAY harder then what they're making them do now.

My memory is terrible, but as far as last season compared to this season - the tasks are so much easier!

Charla climbing that bamboo scaffold was impressive. Considering how short her legs are, and how big the steps were.
Mirna is so fucking annoying. Sorry, I call 'em like I see 'em.
The BQ's bothered me last year, but this year I'm really pulling for them. They are so much more likable, and not as rude as last year. Using the yield last week was part of the game, yet everyone still thinks they played dirty. What's wrong with them? Next week looks like the other teams are still holding grudges.

Yeah, most people seem to agree with you. I'll give you something I posted in an older thread b/c I think it explains my reasons pretty well.

For me, I see Charla and Mirna as two cousins who put family first. They are extremely close, love each other, and fully support each other. They don't pretend that Charla isn't a little person and they don't pretend that there aren't some obvious implications of that. I think their yelling at each other is largely cultural since they are actually from another country. Yes, they talk to people in other countries in crazy accents, but honestly, some of the other teams won't even stop to talk to locals and Charla and Mirna embrace them. And they have fun and are free-spirited even when they're in the middle of the race, which is without a doubt, the most stressful competition on television.

They're just two girls. They're allowed to not be perfect. But being a family-oriented person, I can see the love of family in them and for me, that's the most important thing you can have, and that's why I love them.

I am sick and tired of the airport drama. I'd like to see everyone on the same effing plane and the race come down to who navigates better and performs the tasks better.

So tired of the last place team being the one who didn't get on the plane. Even if it is Team Boring.

Chris - I'm confused and not trying to be smart, but why do you think Charla/Mirna are more family oriented than the others? Because they, themselves are related? Because they bring up their dead relatives? I don't understand.

Oh - I forgot. For crying out loud - it's not like the BQ's cheated by using the Yield. It's a tool provided by the producers and SHOULD be used to keep yourself ahead of the game. I really hate that I have to stick up for the BQ's, in case anyone is wondering.

I'm digging all the airport drama. Hell, that stuff is way more interesting than the total bullshit, non challenges they are coming up with. These teams have been there before so why all the pussy "challenges"? Towing a gnome across a pond? Riding in a mini-van to win a fast forward? FUCK. This show is going to hell in a handbasket.

I had a feeling the challenges we're going to be uninteresting last night since they spent the first 1/2 hour on the airport drama. Although climbing the bamboo scaffolding with the "ninjas" & kicking in doors would be fun, they were obviously pretty easy.

Let's hope the challenges rock in the last 3 ep's.

Chris, Mirna & Charla came to this country as little kids. They have lived in Maryland. We do not yell like that in Maryland.
Their bio says they speak several languages. I wish they would use what they know instead of the horrible fake whatever they use.

Chris- nice try but i don't think that Mirna "embraces" the locals as much as she acts condescending towards them. more often than not, she acts like the world's citizens were blessed to have had her cross their path. Yuck!:(

I never said they were more family-oriented than anyone else. I just said that I appreciate their family-first attitude and how much they care for each other as cousins because family is something that is important to me. I hope that helps?

I guess we're just seeing things through different sets of eyes. I always see Charla and Mirna excited to interact with the people of whatever country they go to and they're always really appreciative of the help they get. There's this really adorable clip online of them carrying the mannican (I can't spell :p ) and talking to this young Polish girl. I don't know. We'll have to agree to disagree? :)

I agree completely. It's not that exciting watching teams or airport employees type away at a computer for 20 minutes, but I am enjoying some strategy actually being involved in this race. So they may not have to push themselves physically, but they really have to work hard at getting from point A to point B to stay at the head of the pack. And the teams that don't work hard enough - Team Boring, for example - fall behind, and rightly so. Plus, these team members aren't fighting with one another nearly as much as other races, so pitting teams against each other for flights at least causes some tension.

And Mirna's a bitch who thinks she's a princess. I can't take that, "Everybody's out to get us!" attitude.

Speaking of how much of a non-challenge this season is, am I remembering correctly that "Find the Star Ferry" was part of one of the past races? I'm pretty sure I remember those damn green Hong Kong ferries. It's bad enough that these people don't have to do anything hard, but now they're doing stuff they've already done. I'm ready for Ozzy and Danny or the BQs to win, and then for some new teams to come into this race. I want me some more Robs and Kimberleys.

Chris... I kind of agree with you but I'm really not brave enough to admit that here. Plus, I couldn't verbalize it nearly as well as you did. Family-oriented or not, they seem to have fun together. But that's also why I like Cha Cha Cha and the Beauty Queens.

PS: How much are you worth? I swear I'm not stalking you, I was looking to see if your Chris vs. Jill blog had been updated. So... how much are people willing to spend for a night of Chris and friend making s'mores? I'd pay, like, $25 for that shit. Maybe $30. After that, you might as well just buy the s'mores maker and supplies yourself, right?

:w00t: Chris and Smores? Can it be 69$ Canadian? :p

I beginning to think the challenges had to be "dumbed down" for Charla. Maybe if they'd been eliminated earlier the challenges would have picked up a bit. I know there's a lot she can do, and she keeps wanting to prove herself, but they couldn't exaclty have her scaling the Great Wall of China, riding a bike for 5 km or rowing a boat, could they?

And I shudder to think how Mirna would be bitching about how much she has to do if the challenges were, you know, challenging.

I do appreciate your explanation of your Charla / Mirna love. And I do think that, no matter what, the two girls are working together and showing love, which is more than some other teams have shown under pressure.

I also know how much the editing of the series impacts the way we view these 'characters'. Schmyrna are getting a total villan edit, and who knows how much what is shown on TV reflects the way they are in real life.

Those crazy bitches do make for good TV, so Bravo to CBS for bringing them back. I love to hate them.

I echo what others have said above. The level of skill & difficulty in the challenges blows and is threatening to ruin this show. Can we throw them in a rainforrest swamp filled with leeches please? Have them skydive out of a plane ? (how much would you love to see Charla tandem skyjump??)
