BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Gunfire erupted in a dorm and classroom at Virginia Tech on Monday, killing 22 people, the police chief said. The gunman was killed.

That's sad. And scary, I know people down there. I talked to my one friend who goes to school there, but she's fine.

So happy your friend is ok PC, I just thought I would post it since so many people here are from that area or possibly know people.

It's all still "breaking news" so there is so much not known, the shooter is dead and they don't know if there were more than one shooter and if they were a student.

This is terrible, but I actually noticed yesterday that the anniversary of Columbine is coming up (Friday 4/20), and hoping that nobody marked the occasion with a new event. My hoping obviously did no good.

The latest update on msn.com said they still have no id on the shooter-he had no cell phone or id on him & fingerprints came up with nothing. What's scary is apparently there was no real warning sent out after the first shooting that occurred almost 2 hours before the second one.

the news conference is on now.

33 people dead, including the gunman. They are not releasing any info. about him yet. Only that he is a male.

You would think that after the first shooting, they would have cancelled classes for the day and sent students home. This is just awful.

they shut down our campus as a result, we do a lot of things with virginia tech...online courses and travel abroad programs...but everyone i know is safe.

i can.t believe it, its just so horrible and pointless...
