ANTM--the girls go Down Under

I thought it was a pretty good episode...the challenge was funny, and I was surprised by how well all the girls did. Too bad the judges gave NO feedback, besides calling the winner.

For the commercial, having them speak with Aussie accents--that was ridiculous. Two of the girls have thick accents already speaking English.

Jael is finally gone! YAY! She seems like a nice girl, but now she has more time to commune with the chickens and do heroine, so she'll be okay.

Brit is annoying, and she needs to stop crying, but she did look cute in the commercial.

They were bitching about Renee looking like a man--well maybe they shouldn't make her face and hair up LIKE A MAN! Yes, her acting was over the top, but a lot of their complaints were not really her fault. That hairstyling...YUCK!

I loved it when Tyra pulled her kangaroo head off and lost her doo-raggedy w/hair! She was doin some serious scrambling to keep it from coming completely off.

Happy to see heroin-chic Jael gone, although in her head she's been checked out for a loooooOOOOoooong time.

I was pretty impressed that Natasha did so well with her accent, she sure gives her all. Oh and when she didn't understand, at first, that they were going to Australia and then the light bulb went on. She is a cutey, but I don't think she will be able to keep up the schedule if she wins, but...

I agree, Brittney needs to quit whinning and crying and bellyaching. Although she may truly have had something terrible happen in regards of her short term memory, but damn girl quit looking for excuses for your failures and make it work. It's always something.

This has been the best week so far for reality show cuts! Both Sangina and Ugly Betty in one week! I can only hope that Stacy or Alex gets the ax tonight.

Natasha is still my favorite. How embarassing for the rest of them that the chick who speaks English as a second language totally kicked their asses in this challenge.

I'm coming out of lurking specifically to post about this episode because it truly highlighted that Cycle 8 is in fact ANTM: The Handicapped Edition. Forget the underrepresented plus sized model, ANTM is diving head first into diversity fest by featuring slighty handicapped models and its making for great television.

My favorite part was after they had Erika Heynatz go through that Australian speech with none of the girls understood. The camera panned across the girls looking clearly baffled. Erika went off and assumed that it was because of Aussie slang that the couldn't understand her. Nuh uh, this is the Handicapped Edition!!
Jaslene (deaf voice) actually couldn't hear anything that was said
Natasha can't speak english so she just plain couldn't understand it even without the slang.
Jael's brain has been half eaten by heroin so she can't process that well.
Brittany actually DID understand what was being said...only she forgot it 5 seconds later because in case you didn't hear her say it 7,000 times this episode SHE GOT HIT BY A CAR.

Dionne and Renee were like buttah, baby. Except Renee was too busy thinking about herself to listen too carefully. Dionne heard loud and clear but she was keepin' it ghetto fabulous by not following any of the directions anyway. But hey, that's cool. That's cool.

Glad Jael is gone, she seemed like a sweet girl, but her voice/speech pattern was just awful. I'm thinking it's going to be Brit, Dionne, Renee in the final three.

Minda my avatar is from a fantastically horrible movie that traumatized me as a kid (and therefore making me who I am today!), CRITTERS!! Don't worry I'll probably change it a million times.

I am also very confused about how after Tyra announced they were going to Australia everybody was cheering and clapping. Natasha was doing the same but she didn't even comprehend what as going on until a full minute later and then she let out that bloodcurdling, face-scrunching noise that ONLY women are capable of making. "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

If she didn't understand they were going to Australia at first what the hell was she cheering for?! Nevermind that Tyra had almost de-weaved herself yanking off that kangaroo head... they had just brought in an ACTUAL LIVE kangaroo. I want-no I NEED to know what was going through Natasha's mind at that point since she clearly had no inkling that Australia was involved. Welcome, Rickety! So glad ANTM inspired you to come out of lurking status.

I just love Natasha. She seems genuinely excited by everything that's happening and she seems so grateful for the experiences. I wonder if it's because she's from Russia. She doesn't have the sense of entitlement that a lot of the other girls seem to have. It's very refreshing.
