We can still keep our mystery but I would love to know where people are from and where they have lived... I'll start this lame game.

I live in Michigan between Detroit and Flint.
I have lived here most of my life.
I went to school in Florida and Mass and lived in Florida again about 5 years ago.

Pretty boring huh?

Native Californian (but like most natives neither of my parents were from CA).
Born in Valley, work in the Valley (will probably die in the Valley). Have lived in the San Fernando Valley all my life except for 18 months after the Northridge Earthquake destroyed my condo, when I lived in West L.A. Happily moved back to the Valley. I am a Valley Girl. I love the Valley even when it is 110 degrees in August!

Have traveled extensively, but love to come home to the Valley! (this was brought to you by the Chamber of Commerce of the SFV). :D

I was born in St. Paul, MN
At 6 months, I moved to Zion, IL. Zion likes to claim it's a suburb of Chicago, but it's even further from Chicago than Gurnee.
At about 9, I moved to Winthrop Harbor, IL. Yes, the next town north. Exciting.
Went to college in St. Paul, MN
Got a job on the South Shore of Boston after college.
Then, for a change of scene, moved to the North Shore of Boston, which is where we are currently.

As for travel, my parents brought me just about everywhere in the continental US. Then, in college I studied abroad in the UK.

I've lived in California my whole life, as have both of my parents and one of my grandparents.

1. Born in Orange at the same hospital where my parents were born.
2. Lived in Orange County until I was 18.
3. Went to college in LA at USC, then moved to West Hollywood while I was in grad school.
4. Moved out of southern CA for the only time, to live up north in the Silicon Valley for husband's work for two years.
5. Moved back to LA after having baby.
6. Bought overpriced house back in Orange County after birth of second baby.

My husband grew up near Boston, so we have a small cabin in Maine where we spend two weeks each summer. As soon as I win the Lottery, we will live there all summer long.

I was born in the barrio in East L.A. As a baby my parents moved back to my dad's hometown in CT. Thanks mom and dad, now Angelina Jolie is living the life I was supposed to have! At least I got to spend plenty of time at the shore in Rhode Island where dad's family had/has a place.

I've explored CT a great deal and I travelled a lot throughout New England. As a teenager my beau and I took a cross country trip on the Green Tortoise tour bus (coolest thing EVAH!) We started in Hartford and then it took us to secret places and National parks in NYC, Chicago, Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and we finally ended up in San Francisco. It took 12 days and I highly recommend it if you are a) not a wuss and b) enjoy unwashed Europeans. Then my mom flew us back one way for $99. Ah, those were the days.

As a kid my family took a "roller coaster vacation". We went up and down the eastern seaboard going to amusement parks. I mention this because someone mentioned Lititz, PA and I'll never forget visiting a pretzel factory there. My dad couldn't remember what it was called and kept referring to it as "Ziptits" which was hilarious when I was 10.

Grown up vacations have included twice yearly visits to Key West and Miami. I take an annual trip to Baltimore and always catch an O's Red Sox or O's Yankees game. One time my drunken brother tried kicking me (missing badly) while yelling "you bitch" as an elevator door opened and Tim Wakefield and his children were standing there, appalled. Oh good times, great oldies on that one. I also went to the New orleans Jazz Fest in April 2005. Hate to state the obvious, but I'm sure glad I went when I did. I'm very fortunate to have friends in all these places so I get to crash for free and hang out with locals, which is always a fun experince.

Let's see, I was born & raised in Arkansas about 30 minutes outside Little Rock, dropped out of college after my sophomore year and moved to Tampa, where I met my husband. We now live about 30 minutes outside Tampa but will be moving back to a different part of Arkansas next year.

I've never been outside the US, but I've been to DC a couple of times and Dallas a bunch of times. Other than that, when I was in college a few of my sorority sisters decided to go to Mardi Gras at the last minute, like 10pm on Monday night. We drove all night, slept in the car in a parking lot on Canal Street for about 2 hours, and then partied until about 9pm and headed home. That's about as spontaneous as anything I've ever done except when I got a tattoo about 7 years ago.

One of my sisters is expecting twins in August, so we are probably going up to RI to see her after that. One of my brothers is in California close to San Francisco (Air Force) and my husband's uncle is in Los Angeles, so I'm hoping to get over to the west coast someday too.

I was born in a small town.

And I live in the same small town.

Probably die in a small town.

A small community.

Actually, born and raised in Chicago (which, by the way, no lifelong resident EVER calls Chi-town. Dead giveaway that a TV show or movie was written by someone from the coast: everyone refers to the city as Chi-town and wears Cubs hats).

Moved to Phoenix (actually Scottsdale) three years ago. Moved to Phoenix to get a better sense of normalcy a year ago. In Scottsdale, my daughter's kindergarten playmate asked her "How many planes does your daddy have?" And all the moms wanted to know where my wife and I "were summering." The top destination was Tuscany. For three months.

And they couldn't wrap their heads around the notion that my wife worked full-time. Don't get me started on Scottsdale!

I was born in Goldsboro, NC and lived there until about a year ago and moved to an even smaller town, Washington, NC when my husband got his first job that he went to school for, a policeman. We are young so we still have lots of time to move around, but I have a feeling we will live here forever!!!!! I have visited Florida when I was young, only to visit an aunt, and have been to Mississippi, Virgina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Maryland. That is all.:(

I did not travel outside of California until I was 16 years old, but my daughters who are 2 and 4 have been to Maine, Massachussetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, DC, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Colorado, Arizona and Hawaii. I would say that we are spoiling them but anyone who has traveled with toddlers knows it's kind of hellish.

Born in Denver, Colorado, moved to C. Springs shortly after for a couple of years.

Moved to Something, New Jersey (hey, I was four.) for 18 months and then it was off to exciting Meridian, Idaho for 7 years.

Moved back to Colorado (Aurora) in 7th grade and even though I moved houses several times, stayed in the metro city limits.

I attended U of A in Tucson, AZ for three semesters and then left for the College Program (lifeguard at Typhoon Lagoon) at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

From there it was back to Colorado to finish school and then back to Orlando for 14 more months of punishment after graduation. (I was a lifeguard/coordinator at Blizzard Beach.)

After my stint in Never Never Land I decided to come home to Colorado (again) and have been here ever since.

I've been to 45 or 46 of the 50 states (including most of the islands in Hawaii). I've been just over the border of Mexico to Nogales (makes Tijuana look like classy) and into Canada when I was a kid (Nova Scotia). I made my first trip to Europe in 2000, travelling through England, Belguim, the Netherlands (woohoo Amsterdam!), Germany, the Czech Republic, and Poland.

I still really want to go to Australia/S Pacific and Africa (Egypt, Kilimanjaro, Victoria Falls).

First of all, I was a Navy brat.

Born in Newport, RI. 6 months later, moved to Key West, FL. Dad had to go to Vietnam, so we moved near his parents in Longview, TX. Dad got back from Vietnam a year later, so we moved to San Diego, CA (Clairmont) to finish out his service. Then we moved back to Longview. Dad didn't like his job there, so after 3 years, we moved to Cupertino, then San Jose, CA. Stayed there for 3 years. Hated the cost of living and my sister had her baby (first grandchild), so we moved to VA Beach, VA. Actually stayed there for 10 years! I went to college in Charlottesville, VA (Go WAHOOS!) and stayed after graduation. Met my husband and we moved to Maryland together. Lived there for 5 years and now we are back in VA in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. :)

The Suburb Wastelands of North County, up around Mira Mesa & Rancho Penasquitos area. I do miss predictable traffic patterns, random fast food Mexican restaurants, and knowing where everything is located.

I guess I should mention the smog in LA... but when you live in the Smog Cloud, you don't notice any difference... you only notice when you drive up from The OC and into LA and you see the smog and realize you're living in that. But then again, I live 3 blocks from The 10 freeway...

My dad is from Wethersfield. And his birthday is November 4. Just saying.

What bar in Western CT?

I was born a poor, black child in Hartford Hospital and then lived in Glastonbury, CT for the first three weeks of my life. Then my family moved to a suburb of Boston called Holliston, MA. Then, when I was six, we moved back to CT to the town where I still currently live. I'd rather not say the name but it's in Litchfield County, which is the northwestern most corner of the state.

I transfered a few times in college so I went to school in Boston, Connecticut and Maryland (just outside of Baltimore). I also studied abroad in England during college, which was FANTASTIC.

I've traveled up and down both US coasts and have been to Kentucky (Lexington), Arizona (Tuscon), and Louisiana (New Orleans) as well. I'm going to a wedding in Montana this fall, which I am really excited about. I've always wanted to see Montana. I'd also like to see Texas and New Mexico. I've heard great things about Chicago too so I'd like to make it there one day.

Abroad I've been to England (Norwich, London, Cornwall), Scotland (Glasgow), Ireland (Dublin), France (Paris, Bordeaux, Fontinbleau), The Bahamas and Canada (Prinice Edward Island. Yes, I did the Anne of Green Gables stuff.)

I'd still like to see Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and pretty much the entire continent of Africa, especially Kenya, Botswana and South Africa.

Yeah...apparently, the Valley of the Sun is a porn haven. There's a gal named Rachel Aziani that regularly does guerilla photo shoots for some porn site--jumps outta her van, strips nekkid and has photos taken in public settings like in front of a Suns crowd or a Diamondbacks game.

But we also are becoming a way station for REAL celebs that want to avoid paparazzo. The Britneys of the world, Sheryl Crow, those types. So glamour!

When I was 5 years old my parents decided to move us to the other side of the world onto a tiny 12*3 mile island known as Saipan. And if you read Ms. magazine yes we're the place featured in last months sex and greed article. Moved to Hilo, Hawaii a few years ago, stayed there for 2 years before moving back to my rock. What a great thread - i missed out on posting my travels so here goes:

I have been to the uk, israel and scotland. Hope to go to Greece, Austrailia and Ireland sometime before I die (I am old ya know). Never been to Montana or Wyoming and always wanted too. Same with Washington State. I have been all over the US but have spent the most time on the east coast which I LOVE. And we go to Florida every winter - either Key West (my fav) or Ft. Meyers Beach.

For the past 5 years we have taken a vacation each summer someplace we have never gone before. It started one year when our fly-in fishing trip in Northern Canada was cancelled and we had 10 days off and no where to go. So we closed our eyes and picked something east and ended up in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. Over the past few years we have gone to Quebec, Maine, New Hampshire as mentioned and last year rented an RV and took off for the worlds longest garage sale on US127 from Kentucky to Alabama...in an RV...with my family (hubby and two almost grown sons), Mother and father in law AND 78 year old Aunt and Uncle. Recommendation, when they tell you the RV sleeps 8 - they mean pygmies. NEVER.AGAIN!! Got to see parts of the south that NO ONE is meant to see!! This year we are going to Lousiana to stay with people my husband met doing recovery for Katrina and to take our son to N'leans. We shall see how this turns out!!

I am noticing the abundance of Tvgasmers from CT and CA and lack of Tvgasmers from the Midwest...whats up with that?

I try to never utter those words so as not to encourage others but I am, in fact, an Okie from Muskogee. I was born and raised there and got the hell out of dodge as soon as I graduated from Muskogee High School. (Home of the Roughers...don't ask.)

I went to school in Dallas, Texas (go Mustangs!) and moved to DC right after gradution in 1999. I've been here ever since. I've worked on Capitol Hill, I've worked for a non-profit, I've done a Senate campaign and now I work for a lobbying firm. Sell out, I know. Now that I'm making a house payment, I can see the beauty of living somewhere like Oklahoma but I still prefer to just visit.

My sister lives in New Haven and I will be in CT twice this month but alas, not for the weekend of the rumored CT happy hour.

Born and raised in Connecticut, and still live here. The only other place I've lived for any amount of time was the Jersey Shore for one summer in college.

I haven't seen nearly as much of the US as I would like to, but I've been a few places: LA, Washington State, Missouri, Ohio, PA, Chicago, Key West (loved it), Orlando (hated it), DC and pretty much every state north of DC on the east coast. Especially Maine, where our family has a summer place that we visit every year. (my grandfather built ours in 1947)

Been to Vancouver 4 times and I'm returning for a fifth trip this August. Been to Ireland twice, where I have family, and would love to return again soon some day. First, though, I want to see the rest of Europe and maybe one day New Zealand.

It sounds really lovely. Like I said, I've spent much more time in the Kennebunks than up around mid-coast but the few times I've been there I really liked it. The Penobscot Bay is so beautiful. My parents say mid-coast now is what the Kennebunks used to be like 30 years ago. They're so crowded now in the summer and the village is just jammed with stupid yuppies and their hulking SUVs that you know have never been taken off-roading. Grrrrrr.

Sorry, people who own SUVs but don't actually use them for anything that would necessitate 4WD piss me off. It's a pet peeve of mine.

Lived in Albany NY for a year while getting my masters

Now I live in Downtown Detroit

I love to travel, hate to fly, go to Lakeland Florida every year for Tigers Spring Training, go "up north" in Michigan all the time, if I travel I usually go east, been to Europe, been to the Bahamas, DR and Virgin Islands.

Yep, pretty close. It's about 25 minutes away. West Cornwall is a pretty cool little town. It's kinda weird though. A lot of eccentrics live in Cornwall. Was your husband's grandfather a woodsy-outdoorsy-artistic kind of guy? Cornwall has a lot of those types.

As a reference for people who have not experienced the wonder of West Cornwall, it is the village that is featured in the opening scenes of Beetlejuice. Well, at least I think it is. I might be making that up, but I'm like 85 percent sure that I'm not.

sg-dub and I got to meet B-side at a random bar in western CT once and we've never been the same since. Such piercing eyes.

I was wondering how you were all connected. How do you and sg-dub know each other? B-Side and J-Unit are friends from college, right? In my head, they're a real-life J.D. and Turk.

born and raised in columbus, ohio. spent 11 months of my second year living in florida. wasn't old enough to remember much of it, but i'm sure i hated it.

spent the last five years living in colorado springs after the columbus advertising market dried up. i've been pretty much everywhere in the country with the exception of new england. no reason why, just never made it up that way.

Also noticing not many people have been to Alaska...as the ads say, B4UDIE! Seriously though, everybody should go once.

i just got back from an alaskan cruise. and i once accepted and four days later turned down a job in anchorage about six years ago. that's a fun city, and if i weren't married, i'd be there now.

They don't make men like Pops anymore. He was the national squash champion at Harvard, then became a pioneering neurosurgeon in New York. He took a few years off to serve as a surgeon in WWII. He spent the summers in Maine, where he would sail all morning and start drinking by 4pm. The walls of the cabin are still decorated with pictures drawn with burnt corks after many a boozy dinner. He did magnificent water colors, published books of poetry, humor, and neurosurgery anecdotes, and played bridge with the buddies once a week almost up to the end at 98 years old. The house in Cornwall was his retirement place, which he designed himself.

where did your cruise go? I'm guessing Inside Passage and whatnot? I'm from Kodiak, but I can only remember one summer when Princess Cruises had scheduled stops in town. My husband wants to move up there (he's never been) when this enlistment is up, but I'm not sure I'm ready to go back just yet. I'm enjoying the outside world for awhile.

Woo Alaskan cruise! I went on one about five years ago, around this time, and I had a blast. It was a Princess cruise. We stopped in Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan.

Hi guys, I've enjoyed reading many of your posts, there are some truly funny TVGasmers out there!

I grew up in Queens, NY, went to college in the Bronx, back to Qns, & now I live in Brooklyn. I work in the city and when hanging out w/ friends, we mostly head out to the city (Manhattan) b/c it's the easiest place for everyone 2 meet up. My mom moved to FL a few yrs ago so now I'll visit her there at Xmastime.

Haven't been to the West Coast, or past Miss. Rvr, for that matter, mostly places in the Northeast. I'd love to visit Cali. one of these days, there's a ton of places in the US that I haven't been to. I've travelled to Mexico, Brazil, and several Western European countries. We are planning a trip to Barcelona ths summer. I'd luv to go to Asia, esp. Thailand & Vietnam one of these days.

I'm with the native Californian crowd. My Mom grew up in Inglewood (wow, was THAT different when she was a kid!), but I'm a NorCal girl all the way. Family all still there, but I can't afford it. College in Michigan (4 years of MI winters - I've done my time), then grad school at CU. Haven't left Colorado since. Why would I???

Traveled much of the world except Asia. Lots of time in Ireland (Sligo!) and Paris. Climbed Kilimanjaro. Fair amount of travel to Mexico and Central America. Give me a few hundred bucks and a plane ticket is the inevitable result. Ticked Hawaii off the list (finally) last year, so that leaves Alaska. I feel badly that I haven't been there yet. B4UDIE, amen.

For a person who loves to travel, what would be your primo place to see - as far off the beaten path as possible?

we took the norwegian sun "freestyle" cruise, because that's how i roll. or cruise, as it were. went up the inside passage with stops at kechikan, skagway and juneau, then turned around and stopped at prince rupert island on the way back. the last day was spent on open water with the engines at full go, which made for some really rough sailing. thank husband for dramamine.

Hey Gina! Have you ever been to the Putnam House or Greenwoods in Bethel? I went to the Putnam House one time for work and thought the food was awesome. I went back another time and got the best nachos of my life there. Just, you know, saying. I guess the moral of this story is Mulv loves nachos. Great story, eh? I bet hearing a story that scintillating makes you anxious for the CT TVGasm happy hour.

Aspen - Aw man, you moved too soon! We could probably use another warm body at the CT TVGasm happy hour. I think there will only be five of us there, assuming no one chickens out. Well, at least you don't have to deal with New England winters anymore. I love Connecticut and all but, let's be honest, the winters blow.

Well, I've lived in Rhode Island all my life except age 7 to 12 in Springfield MA. Went to college in RI and always worked in RI until 6 years ago when I started my current job in Foxborough MA (Go Patriots!)

Travels with my office softball team (in the '90s): Gadsden Alabama; Montreal and somewhere in central GA (near Plains). Softball is a serious sport in the South! We northerners got our butts kicked!

Travel for business: Beaver Creek Colorado (not in winter); Atlanta GA; Miami Beach (in December!); 'regular' Miami (in summer); Minneapolis (in December)(rode the roller coaster at Mall of America).

Note: two times I have had to change planes in Chicago and two times bad weather caused a missed connection. Two times I spent the night in Chicago and one of those times I slept in the floor of the terminal with hundreds of other stranded passengers. I avoid Chicago like the plague.

Vacation trips: I have vacationed in all six New England states; London and Bath England (loved it!); Orlando (Disney); Savannah GA (beautiful city);Charleston SC; Miami Beach; and various trips to CA. My favorite trip was when a friend and I flew into San Francisco, rented a car and drove to San Diego then flew home from there. We stopped in a zillion places and we were carrying an old fashioned video camera (think huge and heavy). We had a ball! I loved San Diego (I had visted there previously). Especially Coronado Island. The curved bridge and the pastel stucco houses are stuck in my mind. I want to retire there! I must get rich first!

For the last 10 years I have spent a week on Martha's Vineyard in a rented house. This year I go for two weeks! Woo Hoo! I leave in 10 days! Double Woo Hoo!

Well, the right way to make is to use vodka, Bailey's and Kaluha with some milk or cream. We go the low-effort way and use a store bought mix (which has rum in it) and add vodka (the more alcohol - the better we like it). We use a blender and ice to get it to be frozen drink. Once, we added leftover ice cream cake and strawberries and that was great! :D

I can't believe I am the only non-American in here!

I was born and still live in Trinidad. And here's a geography lesson...we are the most southern island in the Caribbean and it is usually very hot around here. We have just begun our hurricane season and fortunately for us (up to last year), we have only had wind damage and flooding in some rural areas.

We are also the home of the Soca Warriors who have just gone off to Germany to compete in the World Cup Football Competition for the very first time. :D

We have the greatest Carnival in the world and anybody who is looking for a new place to travel in February should sign up in a Carnival band and have the best time EVER! (If you want recommendations or websites, drop me a line!)

Trinidad is also a twin island Republic - our sister isle being Tobago. Another great vacation spot. We both have wonderful beaches.

So, thank goodness for TV...since that's my only vice - and my introduction to TVGasm where I read you all - all the time!

HB, seriously, you lived in Roswell? Now I think that would be interesting. Any good stories to share??

The weirdest thing living there was you got to know the "lingo" of ETs. There are grays, reptilians, praying mantis and the humanoids. It was also the first time I had ever heard anyone use the term Anal Probe...Yikes! Most of the talk was how to 'merchandise' the image...Selling Alien crap is a $30 BILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY!

When we lived there I was going to El Capitan Elementary and one of my classmates had a Grandma who used to work at Walker Air Force Base right outside Roswell (closed in the late 60's). She would tell us about the mysterious things that would happen out there in the late 50's and early 60's. Nothing you could point to and say it was proof but stuff like sections of the base were off limits, heavily guarded and strange lights and sounds coming from that area in the middle of the night. The story I remember best is the one she told about a friend of hers who worked as a cleaning lady for one of the head honchos of that secret area. Her friend was working at the guys house when she found a pile of what she said was like Silly Putty or Playdough. The honcho had a son and the cleaning lady thought that the son had left it this stuff in his Dad's office so she went to move it and it "hummed". It scared her and she told my friends Grandma and some other women who went to the same Church about the stuff she found. A week later the honcho and his family were gone and so was the cleaning lady. When my friend's Grandma went the apartment where the lady lived - the Landlord said that a couple of military-looking guys came and told the Landlord that the lady was moving with the honcho and his family to a new base. (Oh - yeah - the military always relocates the help!) They cleaned out her apartment and that was that.

I never saw any aliens myself - but I would spend hours staring at the sky wishing they would come and take me up in the ship. Of course this was usually right after I had done something wrong and thought abduction was better than punishment.

Actually, born and raised in Chicago (which, by the way, no lifelong resident EVER calls Chi-town. Dead giveaway that a TV show or movie was written by someone from the coast: everyone refers to the city as Chi-town and wears Cubs hats).
Um, I wear a Cubs hat. Sometimes. Well, just on bad hair days. And sometimes it's not a Cubs hat, it's a "Go Red for Women" hat. But I'm totally thinking "Go Cubs!" when I'm wearing it! Oh, yeah... I'm not really from Chicago. But I am from a suburb just outside Chicago. Chicagoland, if you will. And I have lived in this area my entire life. But I have never, ever used the word Chi-town. Unless it's to mock those who do.

I'm in the pollution trap called Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
We are the automotive capital of Canada.
We are also a border city to Detroit, MI.
I think our bridge, the Ambassador bridge, is the busiest border crossing in North America.
We get most of our pollution from the Pennsilvanian coal mines

I've been here all my life, and I definately am from the South side (a.k.a. the snobby rich people) but I'm not rich... weird lol
But yeah, that's good ol' Windsor for yah

We are also the sin city of Canada!! Our bar scene is HUGE!! and since we're bordering the States, we get alllll the underagers from your country over here since legal drinking age is 19! Hurrah for weekends!!

I was born and raised here in the Great State of Texas.

I was born in Midland, TX (were George and Laura are from. Laura actually was in the first graduating class of my highschool) I lived there for 22 years.

Then I moved to San Marcos, TX and went to college there

next I moved to Copperas Cove, TX next to Fort Hood the biggest military base in the free world. I thought schoool there for three years

When I got married I move to College Station, TX the home of the fighting Aggies. (My husband was working on his Ph.D there with a joint program with another A&M school) I thaught there one year. I use to make my kids give the Texas Longhorn sign if the answer was yes. I am not an Aggie fan

Next my husband moved my to Kingsville, TX (while he finished his Ph.D) This is in the King Ranch area one of the biggest if not biggest ranches in Texas. I hated it there. We lived there for 2 years. I thought school in this little hell hole town about 30 mins. from Kingsville and 10 mins. From Corpus Christi.

Know I live in Stephenville, TX the cowboy capital of the world or something like that. Lived here a year and a half now. I love it here.

enough about me.

It's all in good fun though. Now that my children are in elementary school they are being brain washed into being buckeyes so I support my kids, my my heart still belongs to The Great Lake state.
