Blech. I don't care for the song, no idea how Blake's performance could make me like it. I think the judges really use Judge's Choice songs to tilt the votes the way they want them - you can sing a crappy song well and not get the votes you would for singing a good song just ok. If that made any sense.

Who chose this song?
What city is he from?

I know that Simon chose Jordin's song... and I can't remember what it was... I did not recognize it from the title.... and the Mayor did not give the artist. Jordin's appearance was all over the news for a couple of hours while she was making appearances here in the Valley of the "freaking hot SUN" Friday.....
And how stupid are the newscasters? This woman stood in the crowd.... in 102 degrees F, for hours... only to say...

"it can't be over... she has only sang 4 songs and not the one the mayor told her to sing.".... do these people working for FOX even watch the show???

Jordin is singing "Wishing on a Star" which I think was a song in the 70's that was later covered by the Cover Girls (haha the Cover Girls covered a song). Anyway...it's kind of a sucky song.

Even worse, Melinda is doing "I Believe in You and Me"...Randy chose it for her. What a moron he is...he always tells the contestants not to attempt Whitney, and then he chooses a Whitney song. And a crap one at that.

Guess that means Paula chose Blake's song.

I can totally see Blake singing Roxanne. It's got that kind of funky-raggae vibe and the tone of his voice is similar to Sting's. It could work, if he can make the higher notes work for him instead of against him. It's a really hard song, so it could be total crap or total genius.

 Randy is such a moron!!

They picked crap songs for the semi-finalists this year. I'm not a fan of any of the songs. Blake might be able to pull it off but that's from a biased stand point. Melinda.. God bless her, Whitney, Christina and Mariah songs (with the exception of Kelly Clarkson) always spell doom for contestants. Jordin.. you know, I'm not really a fan. I recognize that she's a good singer and hopefully she does well with the song they picked for her but I'm not particularly on the OMG SHE'S ONLY 17 AMAZINGGG bandwagon. Should be an interesting Tuesday night.

No good can come of Blake singing Roxanne.... seriously. Thats one of THOSE songs that you cannot top the original. You cannot sing it without people thinking of the original.

Do the contestants get to pick the second song they sing this week??

I think they are singing 3 songs...isn't it the judge's choice, the contestant's choice, and the 3rd I don't remember (mayor's choice maybe?!??)

Is the third song the contestant's favorite song they sang this season? A 'do-over' ???

I'm not sure whether they do that with the top 2 or top 3..... But thats my best guess !

In previous seasons it's been 1 contestant's choice, 1 judge's choice, and 1 celebrity guest of the week choice - right? Didn't Clive Davis pick a selection for each of them last year?

Speaking of song choices, has anyone checked out the finalists for the song contest? Do I want to, or are they the same kind of Diane Warren type Velveeta we get from the professionals?

I know someone like Clive Davis chooses at some point, but that may be at the finale. Guess we'll know all tonight!
