I guess I'm a nobody b/c I don't have a TiVo :( I still use my VCR. I do think that it makes me appreciate the shows I watch more though, b/c I choose them so selectively.
good book I just finished is Anyone You Want Me To Be by John Douglas. It's a true crime story about a serial killer who found his female victims from the internet. It makes you wonder about who you might talk to online...

I'm with zoobabe, no tivo here. Shows I don't miss: Sopranos, Big Love, House, Survivor, and American Idol.
I dabble in some of the MTV junk, Real World, 8th & Ocean. Alot of shows I don't actually watch, but I love to read about them on Tvgasm (Apprentice, Amazing Race, 24, Lost) After that, I pretty much exclusively watch Turner Classic Movies (Love that Robert Osborne!)

I am without Tivo and recently cancelled digital cable. I found it was a whole lotta nothing. What I do watch is available on basic cable. I try to never miss the following: The Amazing Race, Survivor, American Idol (though I care less and less all the time), Antiques Roadshow, Project Runway. But it really only amounts to about 6-10 hours a week. If I am done with all of the laundry, dishes, cleaning, dealing with clients and customers (wouldn't you like to know?), I will occassionally choose TV over a book. Then it would be What Not To Wear, anything on History Channel, most things on Animal Planet, anything on Food Network.
I was thinking about a seperate thread for books and may post one. I always want to know what people are reading and love to share what I'm into. I just finished Jesus Land by Julia Scheeres. It was a great piece a writing. Her memoir was worth the read, though it was sickening to me that she actually had to put up with the circumstances of her life.

I do think we need a what are you reading thread. Just finished Partly Cloudy Patriot by Sarah Vowell. Assasination Vacation by her is also very witty.

Close EdHill, I'm a high end call girl who goes to garage sales hoping to find a paper weight worth $6,000,000. But what's the difference between a customer and a client?
Anyhoo... I love the Roadshow and have a wicked crush on Leigh and Leslie Keno. (They wrote a great autobiography by the way). Add them to the long list of odd looking men that do it for me. I love when someone finds a 14th century Viking helmet stuck in their attic rafters and it's worth a fortune.

I saw that one LQ! I remember b/c it had scotch tape on it and evrything! Did you see the one with the cheesy oil painting of a ship that was done on the back of a menu from the Titanic?
Hi Everyone,
I'm a longtime lurker, first time poster, happy to finally have another way to waste time at work.
I don't have Tivo either. I wish I did. Here are the shows I never miss:
House
Lost
American Idol
Here are the show I watch pretty regularly:
The OC
The Office
My Name is Earl - it's difficult because all three of these conflict
The Real World/Road Rules Challenges
The Real World
The Daily Show
Late Night with Conan O'Brien
The Late Show with David Letterman
And, finally, I'll admit, I still watch and enjoy the reruns of Friends, Sex and the City and Will & Grace. I don't watch the reruns very often, but I still miss The X-Files.
Lizardqueen
05-11-2006, 12:08 PM
Oooh! I miss the X-Files too, but never watch the reruns. I also miss Seinfeld and will watch that whenever it's on. I'm pretty sure there are a handful of shows I've never seen so I look for them. It's my own personal treasure hunt.
Arrested Development was one of my favorites. What a loss.
Shows I've never seen and I'm not sad about:
Will and Grace
Sex and the City
Frasier
Everybody Loves Raymond
CSI Anything
Law and Order Anything
I've never seen Lost or 24, but want to. I feel as though I can't jump in at this late date. Clearly I'm missing out on something with those 2.

Word? The friends who mock me for hanging out at the gasm and wanting to hang out with you dudes are positively addicted to it. So much so that there was a fight when someone revealed a spoiler in conversation. They own the DVD's so maybe I'll borrow them. They also own and watch all the Fraggle Rock DVD's. Go figure.
Don't worry LQ. I missed the whole 1st season of LOST too. I used this winter's snowstorms to hunker down and get through the season. I missed the first few epsiodes of season 2 as well, but I pretty much know what's going on now. Well, as much as anyone really knows what's going on with that show. I'm not a super LOST nerd like some people Cough**EdHill**Cough, but I definitely don't miss an episode either, so maybe I'm on my way to LOSTnerdville. Isn't that near Hartford?
I've never gotten into 24 either. Although, I know tons of people who worship at the altar of Jack Bauer.

Yeesh. Written out that's a whole lotta tv. Of course, some shows aren't on right now so that makes it a little better, right?
I'm also a total movie junkie, lose hours of my life watching those damn I Love the ... series on VH1, secretly love BBC America (the old Ground Force, the new Cash in the Attic, and Changing Rooms), and still religious watch my Friends and Seinfeld re-runs.
Hi, my name is mountain girl, and I'm a tvaholic.

Yep, I've got it saved on mine too. And I LOVE it! I'll admit that I watched when I was kid because of Barry Gibb, that hair, that smile, waht girl wouldn't be hooked. It wasn't until years later that I realized that I kept coming back for the music. And the chance to see George Burns, Steve Martin, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, and the BeeGees all in the same movie.

jenni- I love Dane Cook too! Do you watch Last Comic Standing? I always watched it and it's getting ready to start again soon. It introduced me to my most fave comedian (Gary Gulman) who was on tour with Dane last year and their Tourgasm special premiers on HBO in June.

Bless you mountain_girl!! I was originally won over by the hirsuite charms of Barry Gibb too, and seriously, the man looks foxy in the movie. (I think foxy is 70s enough to do him justice!) But I'm with you, nowadays the celebrity cameos and the music are so much fun to see.
I never got into Last Comic Standing, zoobabe, but I caught the SNL with Cook and I was initially like, who is this guy and why is he hosting? But his monologue hooked me and some of the sketches are vintage SNL. Was he on Last Comic also? I'll definitely check out the HBO special when that comes on!!

no- he wasn't on LCS, but Gary was- and loving Gary was the reason I found out about Dane. They're both really attractive though, and there's nothing like a wickedly funny man that's nice to look at!
