I just saw an ad on TV for the new channel and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. I know it's going to be airing in areas that had both the WB and UPN affiliations (since only one can air The CW), but that's about it. With all the hype surrounding The CW, I was surprised I couldn't find anything about this other channel.

MyNetworkTV is trying to target the former WB audience with pretty people with problems dramas. Let's just say if you don't have a vagina, you probably won't be watching this network. Here's descriptions of the few shows on the network. (http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-photogallery-mynetworktvupfronts-2006,0,1571045.photogallery) (Few = 2)
Desire: Table for Three
Premise: Two brothers who dream of owning a restaurant together are torn apart over their love for the same woman.
Secret Obsessions: Fashion House
Premise: A young designer incurs the wrath of her fashion-mogul boss when she falls in love with the powerful woman's son.
Here's an article about the Network:
MynetworkTV offers soaps at night (http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060519/FEATURES07/605190325/1010/rss04)
Many of the stations that lost out in the WB/UPN merger and weren't selected as a CW affiliate have joined Mynetwork TV, formed by Fox's parent owner.
In the Louisville area, Mynetwork programming will be shown on WFTE.
The newcomer will essentially start off with a two-show schedule when it airs two hour-long soaps five nights a week with a recap on Saturdays. The telenovellas, based on the Spanish soap-opera format, will run for 13 weeks and then be replaced by two others.
The network is essentially targeting working women who miss their daytime soaps and are looking for an alternative to the other networks' prime-time fair.
The fall schedule:
"Table for Three" is about two brothers on the run from the mob who leave New Jersey for Los Angeles. That's where they both fall in love with the same woman. The stars are newcomers.
"Fashion House" follows the cutthroat world of fashion and modeling and stars Bo Derek as a powerful executive and possessive mom. She will stop at nothing to get rid of the woman who has romantic designs on her son.

I am strangely drawn to "Fashion House" I can't help myself.
And yet, I can't imagine Bo Derek doing 'serious' acting...and as a powerful executive, no less?
Oh, and apparently I've been living in a cave somewhere, because I had no idea that Bo Derek and ?BrainHiccup? (the guy who played "Ian Miller" in MyBigFatGreekWedding) are an item & have been for awhile? I just found that out yesterday!

The name you're looking for is John Corbett...more widely recognized as Aidan from Sex and the City...

Funny about the vagina. I have one & just want to find a show I can knit to, and not lose count. Too hot to knit right now, but I like that I can pretty much watch whenever I want, once it cools down, as the ads I've seen say "6 nights a week...coming Sept. 5th." Saw more ads on youtube and I agree...I am oddly drawn, and they kind of cracked me up. I used to knit to Desperate Housewives, the perfect show, though it's lost me now, so I think I'll check this out...prettier people with uglier problems, and I can still count. :)

Although I must confess having a vagina.... (and how often do you get to start a post with that line?) ... I found the adverts for this network to be so cheesy and lame. I think me and my vagnia are going to pass on this one.

You gotta watch!!
These shows are so cool - high drama soaps that are on just 13 weeks, one season. There won't be anyone dying and returning in another season. There are a bunch of the telenovela adaptations in the works though. Desire and Fashion House are only the 1st two. Art of Betrayal is one of the titles that will run after the 1st two finish. I think it's a great concept!

That telenova idea sounds cool but come on... there's SO much other good, new stuff on the TV this season... and who has time to watch for 6 hours straight on a Sat? The people who do that already have a weekly soap.

Here's the beauty of this concept...the recap show condenses the 5 Mon-Fri shows into 1 show that's just an hr. If you miss an episode or just want to see the best sex and bitch fight scenes, they are all there for you on Saturday!!!!!

September 5th-- The series premier of "Fashion House" and "Desire" on MyNetwork TV. FIVE-nights-a-week TV drama and a Saturday night weekly recap.
"Desire:" a pair of brothers on the run from the mob who end up falling for the same girl. The show stars no one you know but rest assured that the 2 hot male leads will be shirtless as often as possible.
"Fashion House:" a mix of Dynasty and Models Inc is what this one is all about. It stars Bo Derek as the main character who has been stealing her son's inheritance to keep her struggling fashion house afloat while the competition Morgan Fairchild closes in.
Gotta give it a try!!!!!!!!!

We do? I'm gonna pass; I already have about 20 other shows on my list. If I want to see Bo Derek I'll pop in Tommy Boy for a nice look and a good laugh.

What a plant from the network. Dude...at least knock off all the exclamation points if you want to resemble a regular poster. Or add some snark. But will that get you in dutch with your network overlords?
