View Full Version : If life was a do over .......

Do you ever wish life was a “do over?” I’ve thought about this a lot over the years and thought it would be fun to read what other people would like to change about their lives. It can be your whole life, or just parts e.g., job, where you would live, who you would do/date/marry, places you’d like to see, super powers you’d like to have. You get the idea. The only stipulation is to keep it TV, movie, or TVgasm related.

Here’s what I’ve decided upon so far:

Job: Captain of the Enterprise
Live: On the Enterprise, of course, with a summer home on Risa
Super Power: Hear like the Bionic Woman*

Oh, and I’d look like Wonder Woman, complete with the Lasso of Truth.

It’s your do over, so let your imagination run wild.

I think it would be fun to work with Dog the Bounty Hunter. I would like Samantha's powers on Bewitched, or Genie on I dream of Genie.

I have always wanted Samatha's powers from Bewitched and to have invested in Google before it got big...

I'd like to have discovered masturbation at an earlier. lol.

Seriously, at the top of my head, one thing which I wish I did....
There was, what I thought, an opportunity for me to kinda make a move on my friends sister...I think there was an opening, and we got along pretty well (she's a really cool person). I didn't capitalize and a while later she got engaged (to her ex-fiancee)....married now. The reason I think about it is because part of me really thinks we would have been good together. It's something I can't really say/think about in relation to any other girl i've met.

I'd love to live on a starship. Oh, the things I could do in the holodeck... :p

As for a job, do I have to? Well, if I still had to work in my world, I'd probably want to do some data configuration and statistical factoring, taking any chance I can get to look at ANUSes and WENUSes... j/k I think I'd actually love to be a voice actor.

As for powers, Superman's always going to be near the top, but I think I'd rather have Willow Rosenberg's power.

Hmmm...I wish that I'd gone into Interior Decorating and/or Design. I love it, and I'm good at it. Maybe someday...

I wouldn't change a thing in terms of who I married.
But I'd have handled my money better/differently! :o

I'd have been quite happy if we hadn't had children, and yet I can't imagine life without my sons. Except that we'd have more freedom & could be more selfish with our time/money!

I wish that I'd learned at a younger age how to be outspoken and strong. I'm 40ish now, and just now learning to be good (or better, at least) at it. My stomach still churns if I know that I've got to discuss something difficult with someone (either at home or work).

Okay, a fantasy angle on things?
-I'd be as funny as Phil Hartman, Jon Stewart, Kevin James and Lewis Black combined.
-I'd be as classy as Katharine Hepburn.
-I'd be as wise as ... wow, I can't think of a truly wise person off the top of my head! I'm sure that they exist. Don't they?
-I'd be as clever as Martha Stewart & her minions
-I'd be as rich as Donald Trump.
-And as philanthropic as Dennis Leary apparently is (ref: The Apprentice).
-I'd be as pretty as Audrey Hepburn.
-With the body and grace of Audrey Hepburn (with perhaps just a LITTLE more height & curves).
-I'd be as true to God as Billy Graham.
-I'd have the superpowers of Superman/Batman/Aquaman/Spiderman...all rolled into one...okay, okay, you can include the Bionic Woman in there, too.
-I could cook just like Paula Dean can, but wouldn't gain a pound from eating all of it, and would be perfectly healthy!
-I could sing like Josh Grobin (the female version, that is!)
-I would be as athletic as FloJo, Dorothy Hamil, Bill Jean King, Tiger Woods, and Michael Jordan
-I would know how to sew my own clothes, cut my own hair, and fix my own damn computer...so that I could get things done when I want them
done!
-I would have a store in my basement, one that would replenish itself and have whatever I wanted there, whenever I wanted it!

Went to Law School instead of "I'll get married and do it in three - four years"

Followed through with the short story Iwrote in 6th grade about a bus with a bomb on it that would blow up if the bus went below 50

Super power? Not really a super power but that Omega 13 thing form Galaxy Quest where you could reverse 13 seconds and take back something stupid you said or did . . that would be kind of cool.

I don't know I said something stupid that quickly. I'd need Omega 1000.

I would never have started smoking. I still remember that first cigarette.
I would have paid more attention to what I put in my mouth. (I mean food!!!....I always liked giving head.)
I wish I'd have traveled more.

Other than that...I wouldn't change a thing. I embraced my life and loved every minute of it....good and bad.

I wouldn.t have gone out by myself that night...
Besides that I think I.m muddling through my life pretty well (so far)
I wish I had the ability to have an internal air conditioner, so I never get hot while out working.

I would have taken that year off school.
I would have spent more time single and fabulous before I got married.
I would have waited longer to have kids, and taken that time to get healthy.

Live: With fewer spiders

I'd taken a year off before going to university.

I wouldn't have bought all those clothes that I rarely wore/wear.

I wouldn't have gotten drunk the night I sprained my ankle.

I wouldn't have but quite so much pot in those brownies.

I'd have been less timid in my teens and early twenties (and wish I were less timid now too).

I would have been more careful with that brand new can of bug spray and not dropped it so hard on my bare foot resulting in the giant purple bruise and swelling that prevents me from wearing work shoes to work.

Wait... the vehicle purchase you made so you could go to UHaul and rent a trailer? The vehicle purchase that was unnecessary because you found out you can't use that particular vehicle to rent a trailer at UHaul? That vehicle purchase??? You have really shitty luck. I'm sending all my extra good karma to you right now!

I'd never had invited my gay to dinner that night. :(

That's the only thing I can think of. I've done stupid things, but I've loved my life. It's just that one thing that I wish I could take back more than anything else.

I wish I had waited until after work to fill my prescription instead of filling it immediately following my doctor visit, because when I got the mail later in the day, I found a coupon for a $35 gift card for any new prescription at my pharmacy. :(

Wow, that sucks, Clair. That could be another verse in the song about ironic happenings by--um, Sheryl Crow? Alanis Morisette? Well, the song by some chick. "It's a free ride, when you already paid . . ." That song.

Could you take the receipt and the coupon to your pharmacy to see if they would still honor it?

Could you take the receipt and the coupon to your pharmacy to see if they would still honor it?

I called them and told them the situation and they said, "Sorry, the coupon has to be presented at the time the prescription is filled."

Oh well....

and now I have "it's a free ride...." in my head. Oops, that's another thread.

If I could have any power, I'd want to be able to hear what people are thinking. I've thought a lot about this, and I think it could really help. You'd know exactly what everyone wants/expects. You'd know what everyone REALLY thinks about you, no one could lie to you... and the only way this could really bite the big one is if everyone really hates you behind your back when they love you to your face-- but I'd want to know that, too.

Good one, Angie. There is so much I wish I had asked my grandparents, and my dad, too. They are all gone now so I can't ask about WWII, Vietnam, their childhoods, the depression, etc. If I could go back I would ask so many questions. And I would have asked my dad if he loved me. I think he did, but he never said so and then after the divorce our relationship sucked, and then he died.

If I were to have it different:

My Job? : Earl's from 'My name is Earl' - if ya can call it a job
Where do I live? : That man made palm tree islands thingy in Dubai, looks sweet
Who would I 'have'? : That good lookin' lass off Lost, you know that gal Kate
Superpowers? : I'd like to be able to turn anything into fudge, or pizza... I'm not sure yet.

Yeah, if I did have things different, and they did turn out like that I know I'd be fairly happy, fuck it I'll go with pizza.

I would go to art school, instead of listening to the parent who said " how are you going to make a living doing that?"
