I am a Music Freak. Even more than a TV freak.
So, I am going to post some music that I love. If the TVgasm folks have a problem with this, let me know and I will remove these immediately.

Anyhoo- I especially like really bad covers. Here are a few of my favorites...

links removed due to paranoia.

and I have lots more!

Do you have the version of Kentucky Basketball coach Joe B. Hall and Al Maguire singing(?) "The Gambler"?

derder, this is hysterical. Steve Lawrence and Edie Gorme's version of black hole sun reminds of a really bad snl skit.

dr. birdie, after your public announcement of your love of all things air supply, I had a dream about a new show on MTV... some really kick ass hard rockin' bands get together and compete for the best heavy metal remake of a classic love song. Extra points to the band whose song has love in the title. My dream bands/artists: godsmack, rob zombie, seether, led zeppelin (it's a dream!), soil, and of course, metallica.

oh, and derder? I just can't bring myself to listen to the leonard nimoy song. Sorry. But I loved bill cosby! He's awesome no matter what he does. And cute family pix, btw. You've got awesome hair!

I didn't hear leonard anywhere! I thought for sure he'd be talking or something. Boo! I feel gypped.

Re: your hair -- maybe it's not yours. I'll just have to go look again. But you can't provide me with a link and expect me to refrain from investigating further, can you?

PS: I don't understand the visual joke from your first halloween post. What's funny about the ghost on the right with all the black dots?

Your general junk pile of music, dumb photoshop projects and some other stuff. Isn't that you? Or did I make an ass out of u and me?

PS: WTF is an m4a file? My computer won't open it.

Edit: Did you know you can rename an m4a file to mp4 and it'll play? Cool. What's not cool is the Lady on the Rock or whatever. OMG it's bad! Was it written for an after school special or something? Well, it's making me smile, so I guess that's something! :D

These are some of the first songs I remember hearing when I was growing up. I still know most of them by heart and, yes, I still enjoy singing them; it's very disturbing. I blame my mother for my odd musical choices now.

I think most of them are from the 70s or so, except for Charlie Brown. I'm not sure. And, yeah, that Chicka-a-Boom song doesn't sound quite right, but that's the only version I could find.

Now I'm working on finding a song that all I can remember is: eagle hockey trobble bockey that's a lot of jobble wockey any time and any place is jobble wockey time. And of course I'm sure I'm not spelling any of that correctly!

I'm looking forward to seeing what else you post, derder. I loved the Black Hole Sun song above!

derder... I'm afraid to admit this, but I kind of liked Ragnar's version of Teen Spirit. It grew on me. The eskimo pie song had me laughing but Herve's song just made me sad. I wikied him while I was listening to the song so maybe that had something to do with it. Ragnar was the clear winner of that round, imho. I might have to google his ass.

doc... that was an awesome video. Did you remember it and then search for it or did you just run across it by accident? I especially liked the out-of-synch dancers in the background. White girls really can't dance, can they? And what was with the girl at the end? "Be somebody." What the hell does that have to do with treating your mother right? Oh, and ewww... "M" is for the moans she made when she pushed me out? Yuck!

Okay, I have been too busy to get to most of the projects I planned this weekend, including posting some music on a back page of my (my husband's) website, but here are a couple of links to some newer underground/indie artists and/or albums I am loving right now:

Justice, a French dance/indie band, check out the song DANCE (not the remixes, just the one called DANCE), it's a tribute to the late, great Michael Jackson (because isn't he dead and gone, really?): http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=19700933

Okkervil River, a folk indie rock band, they have a new album out and I have nothing bad to say about it:

To get back on topic... anyone else have any tunes they want to share? Where's schoonie been? I bet he'd have some cool ones.

Aw! Getting shouted out in a thread is the quickest way for me to come calling.

Good Music:

There's been LOTS of good music out lately. I've been listening to a lot of the following albums:

The National - Boxer (This song: Mistaken For Strangers) (http://youtube.com/watch?v=HhA9ARZ6pjk) This album is really cool, very Depeche Mode/New Order, but more rock-y.

MIA - Kala (This song: Boyz) (http://youtube.com/watch?v=W9a1hGwWRP8). MIA is really cool, I saw her at Lollapalooza and have been a fan since her last album. She's this Indian/Hindi rapper/dance music artist, and she's really creative and different and straight up baller.

Feist - The Reminder (Song: One Two Three Four) (http://youtube.com/watch?v=p8Z-DIAthbM) - This one is kind of an oldie, but it hasn't really left my iPod in about nine months because it's so good. This is the song from the new iPod ads that you probably saw yesterday during the NFL Football games. The video is really neat, and her music is all a lot like this, very soulful and earnest. I actually gave this CD to my mom as one of her birthday presents this year.

And of course, tomorrow is Graduation Day. New Kanye West! I'll be clearing out my day to listen.

Really Bad Music

I'm sure many of you are familiar with Soulja Boy, which is that really dumb and sort of crappily awesome "Superman that Ho" song that is sweeping the nation and that I cannot escape from every time I go to the bar. If you aren't, here's the video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=vum3qgoh0x4).

Now, here's the cool part. The song is so terrible that people have started making famous cartoon characters rap it where their actions match the words, and you haven't lived until you've seen Spongebob Squarepants "Supersoak That Ho". Check it out! (http://youtube.com/watch?v=v3ARyAb_1Bs) You won't be sorry, it's HILAROUS.

There's also a Lion King Version (http://youtube.com/watch?v=fA8PgEXTR6g) that's almost as funny.

The other really bad and sort of awesome thing is the new rap song sampled off of the Meow Mix Jingle. Not kidding. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=JZw1VmhxH2s) Who thought that was a good idea?

Schoon, I agree with you on all your good ones, but I think Boyz is the weakest off her new album. My favorite off her new album is"Paper Planes". That song just rocks!: http://youtube.com/watch?v=71iJyO5brR8

Another one I am loving right now is Spoon's newest album, but it's so weird how the lead singer sounds like Billy Joel. Check out "The Underdog" (the whole album, "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" is great): http://youtube.com/watch?v=LenPKPqvdJA
