Now that Survivor and Idol are over and all the other prime time shows are done for the season (I'll miss you Sopranos), I have nothing to watch or look forward to watching. Yes, there are new episodes of Barefoot Contessa and What Not to Wear but that doesnt fill up enough time. I only watched BB the first season and well, didnt like it. I dont even know when the Denis Leary show is on but it looks good - I cant figure out if I like the Real World (but love the tvgasm recaps of it) and am holding off for when they start filming/showing the one they are planning here in the Detroit area (that ought to be fun - there is NOTHING to do here. You guys should have a ball attacking that show - it will be like watching paint dry). Therefore,

I am television challenged for the summer - please help me....

Seriously, I would love to see who watches what during the off season and why (and it wouldnt hurt to know when they are on and what channel). I work a lot and have a dvr so my world is your oyster...

jellie- so far I've been watching

Hell's Kitchen- Monday on Fox
Last Comic Standing- Tuesday on NBC
Treasure Hunters (I'm sticking with it for now)- Monday on NBC

and soon... Big Brother will start again and I do love that show! Try watching it again jellie b/c you're gonna get the best of the best (or worst) with the All-Stars edition, and the TVgasm recaps are sure to enhance any viewing experience of this show especially. You don't want to be out of the loop do you? Plus- there are hot guys on there and they don't have much to do, so they're often working out shirtless!:D

Interesting topic....This is my plan, but I may dump or pick up some shows.

World Cup Soccer (of course)
Last Comic Standing
RR & RR/RW:FM
Windfall
The 4400
Americas Got Talent
The One
Rock Star (?)
Master of Champions
Big Brother
Blade (Series starting soon, gonna give it a shot)
So You Think You can Dance

That's all I can remember now, lol.

BBC America has some entertaining shows. Footballers Wives is everything Desperate Housewives wishes it could be. There's some great comedies re-run pretty regularly there also, like Absolutely Fabulous.

I'm pretty addicted to Ghost Hunters on the SciFi Channel. Nothing really ghosty but alot of fun interaction between the crew. Some interesting stuff surfaces on occasion where they get some video of something weird. I think there's a "best of" compilation on this Wednesday night.

When all else fails I leave it on the Science channel.

FC- I'm going to watch Rockstar: Supernova once it starts b/c I loved the INXS one last year. However- I haven't been as impressed with Windfall as of yet, even if Luke Perry is on it.

Jellie -
I am watching The Sopanos again from the beginning (Netflix) to fill the void and satisfy my cravings. Damn, I love that show.

Project Runway will start again soon - that is must see TV for me.

Glad you are open to trying BB again...it is an acquired taste, but highly addictive! The posing that goes on is crazy funny.

Windfall is an okay show. I'm just watching for the hot Russian. I hope she rips that dude off, yeah!

We've been trying to stick with Windfall but when I end up more interested in my sudoku book it's not a good sign...bummer, I thought the premise was good.

jellipair, the only show I'm watching right now is Deadwood, on HBO. If you have HBO (and from your post I think you do), I highly recommend checking it out (if you haven't already).

And that's about it. Battlestar Galactica usually begins a new season on Scifi in the summertime, but this year they're not coming back until October. =:/ I generally don't watch reality TV (I know, what the hell am I doing here?! lol) except for Idol, so the pickin's are pretty slim for me this time of year.

Instead, I'll be doing the DVD thing - I'm expecting my first Veronica Mars DVD from Netflix today. Woo hoo! Oh, and I just remembered: FOX is re-running 24 over the summer on Friday nights - 2 back-to-back episodes every Friday. I think it started last week and I can't believe I missed it. Man. I guess I can go to iTunes and download those eps and get caught up...

does anyone know if you can download episodes of shows on HBO to watch on your computer if you don't have HBO?

I looked on their website and only saw where you can watch clips of shows, zoobabe, so I don't know. There are probably episodes online somewhere but who knows if they're legal or whatever! I recently downloaded Big Brother 2 from this torrent thing and when I did I noticed other current shows listed.
I've been watching Hex on BBC America-it's a little slow, but kind of romantic and otherworldly and I like that. Also the 4400 has been great so far.
I just can't wait for tomorrow's Big Brother All Star casting special! I'll probably save it and watch it 50 times before BBAS starts :)

A lot of my stuff is just repeating shows that have already been said - but
here goes anyhow:

Windfall - it hasn't disappointed me yet, hasn't thrilled me either, but I'm still giving it a chance
Real World: Key West - just think Hurricane Wilma is the next ep (and to think I lived it just last year)
Real World/Road Rules/Fresh Meat
Hell's Kitchen - Shut. It. Down.
How to Get a Guy - When did that "While You Were Out" babe become a relationship expert?
So You Think You Can Dance - only when nothing else is on
Treasure Hunters - so far I'm intrigued
Simple Life - Caught two back to back eps last night, thought Paris was cute with the Pakistani son.
My Fair Brady - but not for much longer, used to love Peter Brady, but seeing how Chris Knight treats that poor deluded model sorta makes me ill and/or angry. He's a creep and she needs to watch the show, realize what a controlling jerk he is and cut him loose.

And coming soon -
Rock Star: Supernova - I'm with you ZeeBee, loved it last summer even if I did hate they guy INXS ultimately chose.
America's Got Talent - doubt I'll last long with this, Regis' freaky white teeth scare me

And the summer show to end all summer shows
BIG BROTHER ALL STARS - Yeah Baby!

Oh no! Why do you hate JD? I thought he was great. In fact, I was a real loser and went to see INXS when they played in LA in January and I was really impressed! JD was soooooooooo hot, my husband got really lucky when we got home that night!

Has anybody watched "Tuesday Night Book Club?" I caught the last 10 minutes of it last week and was really confused. I think it is supposed to be reality, but some of it seems really staged. It's pretty much the "Real Housewives of the OC" set in Scottsdale, but the people seem even more annoying.

And I agree, anyone who doesn't watch "Big Brother" needs to give it another try, just so that you can enjoy the recaps.

Has anybody watched "Tuesday Night Book Club?"

I thought JD was an arrogant ass. He was horrible to the other contestants and such a suck up to INXS, I was a big INXS fan prior to that - but seeing how they lapped up his asskissing - I lost all respect. For me it was either Marty Casey (Just you and me up in the trees) or that blonde chick. She had the best voice overall. They were pretending they'd consider a female lead when it was clear that wasn't really the case.

As for Tuesday Night Book Club - got it on my DVR from while I was away on vacay. Will catch up this weekend and let you know what I think.

Marty Casey opened for INXS, and let me tell you he had to be the skinniest, whitest guy I have ever seen! His pants were falling off and he was running around in the audience, and I was so afraid he would come near us and I would get a glimpse of his goods!

It's true that JD was arrogant but that's part of what made him so hot, I have a weakness for dangerous seeming guys!

yo jellie

my solution is two-fold.

first, i stockpile episodes on the ole' tivo. for example, one summer i had about 10 eps of 24 on tivo (not on purpose, because of work).... that was awesome. but also before it got way popular... wouldn't work now because it has turned into a haven for spoilers.
i currently have 6-7 ER's (but truth be told, i don't see it happening... smell ya later sam. i love her.)

the best solution though, is one of the greatest inventions ever.... Televison on DVD. Pick a show you know is good, and yet somehow never got into, and rent that bad boy. It's the only way to watch shows.... no commercials, deleted scenes, outtakes etc.... AWESOME. a friend of mine got caught up with 5 seasons of 24 in like 6 months.

personally, i can't decide which show i'm gonna start with... probably "the office" on itunes.

g'day

Oooh, I just hated JD! He has that fake sexy thing going on, kinda like Constantine Mara-popa-blah-blah-blah. Whatever. I liked Jordis the best. (Oh my god. I just spelled that "bessed"! What the hell?)

Anyway, here's my list (pretty much like everyone else's):

Treasure Hunters
Project Runway (can't wait!!!!)
Real World
Real World/Road Rules
The 4400
Rock Star
Making the Band (maybe)
Last Comic Standing (maybe... I'm watching a rerun right now and it's okay -- but what's Latte Boy doing on this show?)
Stargate SG1/Atlantis (getting pretty boring but it's a habit I'm not ready to give up)

Also, I'll be catching up on reruns of Mythbusters and Ghost Hunters if I remember.

FC: I haven't heard about Blade. What's it about and what station will it be on?

I definitely recommend picking up Denis Leary's show Rescue me.... It's on Tuesdays at 10 on FX. If you read a few of the recaps here you should be able to catch up on the first 2 seasons. This season's off to a crazy start so I promise you wont be disappointed.

Absolutely, watch Rescue Me! My other picks:
Hell's Kitchen
The Closer
Saved (I think that's the title, it's on after The Closer)
My Fair Brady (I just gotta know if this wedding or the vasectomy is 4 real)
Project Runway
My Life on the D-List
Queer Eye (if I remember, not a "must see")
Big Love

I haven't watched Windfall since the second episode FC, it was hard to get into for some reason.

Did anyone watch the show on ABC last night called KYLE XY? I happened to come across it flipping the channels, and it was strange but compelling. I think it might be on their Family Channel too, and usually any show on that network would make me shudder.

I've been watching Windfall, I've enjoyed it so far. Though the will they or won't they between the two married couples is starting to annoy me.

Today I am glued to my tv - got NASA tv on and am watching them load the astronauts and strap them in. I am flippin back and forth to the World Cup England v. Portugal. But my heart is more on the NASA side of things. There is just TOO Much riding on this launch. The fate of the entire space program.

I don't think it will actually launch today - due to weather - but if it looks promising I'll be jumping in my car and heading East.

I've also been watching Windfall. I like it so far, and it's not like I had anything else to watch on thursday nights until It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia premiered. I finally watched it for the first time and loved this show, it's ridiculously funny. It makes me miss Arrested Development.

I've also been watching Windfall.

As for Windfall, since I saw the brunette daughter as a slutty actress on CSI last week and Jason Gedric is the chef on Desperate Housewives - I am guessing Windfall won't be back this summer?
