I happened to catch Project Runway 2's reunion show yesterday. Saw the clips of all the songs they sang. Remember Santino's impression of Tim Gunn doing NIN's "I wanna f*ck you like an animal"? And the bittersweet ode to fallen contestant Daniel Franco? "Goodbye, Daniel Franco," crooned Santino and Nick. "See ya in Season 3!"
Do you think he will be back? He does, after all, love Heidi.
I almost wonder if is too soon for the next season. I really loved the cast of Season 2. Still have a crush on Santino. Yes, I do. So there! :p

You are not alone in your Santino love! I think the impressions of Tim and Andre's dates at Red Lobster are what sealed the deal for me.

i caught this snippet over the wknd---still cracks me up!! that song has a way of staying in ur head. Luv Santino at the end: 'Auf Weidersen, Motherfucker!!'
jampony, i luv that u emailed Bravo---i had checked out their website, ddn't see any reference to the new season which is surprising b/c i've seen billboard references & ads on the side of buses---but not a word on the actual website, strange. So it's early Saturday night and I'm flipping channels and come across channel 5 (sorry... I mean NBC) and they're airing "Project Runway: Road to the Finale" which is introducing the new designers for season 3. AND... Yahoo TV shows that it originally aired March 5, 2006! What the hell? How could I have possibly missed that?!? Whatever. It's awesome. Heidi's awesome. Tim's awesome. Even Santino, who I hate, is awesome. Some interesting designers so far... can't wait to get to know these idiots!

So there's been a PR season 1 marathon on all day today, which I hadn't seen when it originally ran - interesting to see the differences in the seasons and whatnot, but I'm bummed they didn't show the reunion special - they showed a clip of it but didn't show the episode itself.

OMG - Remember Guadalupe Vidal from last season?
She's pretty much the only thing I remember from the reunion show! That, and the stupid "fight" between Santiago and Nick and Heidi when she said something about people in LA all being actors.
Wait, what was that hysterical line Heidi said about Nick's Barbie? They're hard to get... they sold like bagels! I still giggle when I think of that. And her explanation ("I'm German").
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to the new season.

Speaking of Project Runway... I still think Kara Janx had the best collection at fashion week. Here is the dress I'm buying from her. http://www.karajanx.com/store/product.php?productid=16147&cat=252&page=1
Although now she is offering a sleeveless version.
http://www.karajanx.com/store/product.php?productid=16177&cat=252&page=1
Ooh! Here's a new one I love too. But this model's head and body look like a bowling ball on a toothpick. Very sexy. (click on view details to see what I'm talking about)
http://www.karajanx.com/store/product.php?productid=16172&cat=254&page=1
And one more complaint. I freakin' hate 3/4 length sleeves! Either make 'em long or make 'em short. I don't want to sit around all day tugging my sleeves wishing they were longer (though being half gorilla this is what usually happens). The alternative is shoving them over your elbows all day and watching them slide right down. I hereby announce that 3/4 length sleeves are as gay as gaucho capris.

The Washington Post's fashion editor has an article in today's paper previewing the new season:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/11/AR2006071101380_2.html
WARNING: This article spoils the first episode! If you don't want to know what the first challenge is, or who wins it, don't read this article until after you've watched the episode.
Pity, because there are some choice bits in there, including some of Kors' comments during the judging.

And Santino and Nina? It's almost worse than porn!!!! Oh my god, I totally can't believe this is airing on basic cable. Damn, you'd have to be a complete asshole not to be watching this.
Just kidding. Sorry LQ... I couldn't help myself. I felt the same way when I found out I didn't get FX or Oxygen at my new place. Now I don't even remember why I cared (but I think it might have been when I found out Oxygen bought the rights to Xena and that it would never air on any other channel ever again), but I was pissed off (and kind of devastated) at the time.

Holy crap, Wendy Pepper looks great these days! She's still pure evil, but at least she dropped the Cruella De Vil look. I'm not even the least bit surprised that Austin is now designing wedding gowns. It's the perfect fit for his style.
Malan is... greasy. The man just oozes arrogance. I love him! It's going to be so delightful to watch his downfall.
I do have one question. Contestants get psychological clearance by the producers before being officially cast on these shows, right? Who did Vincent's psych exam, Lucy Van Pelt? The man is teetering the edge of reality.

LQ, I believe the finalists, Jay, Kara Saun, Wendy, did feature in that year's Fashion Week, possibly for the Fall season. I read in the newspprs at the time that Austin Scarlett featured his collection then as well (albeit not as part of Proj. Runway crew.)
That sux abt the cable, what a scam!! Do you know whether they might have free downloads of the show on their website? Oy.
Ths season seems promising, altho they seem to have gone after the usual potentially-controversial types (altho of course that makes 4 the best TV!)
Vincent = Rick Moranis, w/shades of Woody Allen, in his New Yorkness
****SPOILER****
As much as I luv ths show, the same thing that annoys me abt it did once again---the judges provide one instruction, but thn defy it altogether in their judging. The guy that won (Keith?) used an item that most closely resembled fabric---how hard or innovative could it be to construct a dress from a bedsheet or a curtain? I thot the guy who used coffee filters for his outfit was the most creative.
The rock star designer (neck tatoos) --- hmm, not so sure abt him, seems the most Santino-like, w/potential to be controversial & asshole-like.
Vincent--ugh, i winced when i heard him say he cashed in his 401K for ths dream of his. yikes!!

They said during the episode last night that you could buy the episodes on iTunes - I don't use iTunes, but it seems like a worthy option?
what did everyone else think of the contestants?
I was irritated that they let Malan in after he turned them down once already - but life isn't fair so whatever - he will definitely be the one to hate for at least awhile.
Vincent will probably have to get divorced after he gets kicked off, and I don't understand why he had to cash out his 401(k) to go on the show...it's not like they charge an entrance fee...and if it was just to pay the household bills while he's gone there couldn't have been much in it to begin with. (Sorry, the accountant in me speaking).
I didn't like Keith for his attitude, and I have to agree that the judges went against their own instructions - it's not innovative to make a dress out of a sheet, it's innovative to make a dress out of coffee filters, and Michael should have at least been pulled in the top three for that.
I think Robert Best will be this season's Nick Verreos - great designer who gets kicked out very late in the show for not being interesting enough for TV. I like that there seem to be more diverse people and less stereotypical gay types this year.
And one last thing, I was SO irritated when Bravo showed the 3 lowest people and wanted you to text your vote to win something at the commercial break, because the judges hadn't announced who was safe and who was still in danger yet!

i thot he might've meant that he decided to change careers late in life & that that's why he cashed it out?? scary thot, given what he's shown so far, he really seems like he's got ADD of the brain, just all ovr the place, bouncing around w/ no direction.

Also, I thought I was going to really dislike the guy who looks like he'd have a Cockney accent (sort of looks like Callum Blue (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0089485/)'s drug-addicted older brother)... Oh they just said his name... it's Keith. Anyway, I kind of like him but I think he could have been more creative in the first challenge.
I think Robert Best will be this season's Nick Verreos - great designer who gets kicked out very late in the show for not being interesting enough for TV.
That's a good point. He made a beautiful dress but I'm watching the rerun right now and when they introduced him I didn't have a clue who he was. I didn't even remember seeing him last time -- he didn't do or say anthing stupid/annoying/egotistical/etc. that would give him a lot of face time.
I believe the finalists, Jay, Kara Saun, Wendy, did feature in that year's Fashion Week, possibly for the Fall season.
I wonder if they're doing it quicker so they won't have to send four designers to fashion week (they send the fourth runner up, too, so we won't know who the final three are because the episodes about the winners aired after Fashion Week). If they're going to send four designers, it sort of diminishes the excitement of making it to final three, ya' know? Well, I'm not even sure of the timeline on this thing (I don't have a clue when shows tape and then air) so I could be way off here.
PS: I kind of like Kayne, too! And of course Michael Knight (where's KITT?!?)

No scandal, yet. I think they're just going to tease us for a while and it's starting to get annoying. But I do believe it's all about Keith's designs. How can they keep him on the show if they're not his (http://forums.tvgasm.com/showpost.php?p=6268&postcount=49)?

Well, I think it's a shame that Malan was auf'd...although his dress really WAS a huge mistake in every respect. Still, he actually seems like a fairly decent guy, and I can see where he's got real potential as a designer.
Angela really should've been given the boot, she was thoroughly obnoxious. Vincent was also obnoxious, but at least he turned out a lovely dress (sans the strange Star Trek sleeve caps)...so for that alone he should've stayed (and did).
Interesting episode. Not too much drama, but lots of actual sewing and getting to know the designers better. I appreciated that. But, next week?

I'm not entirely convinced that will be the scandal - in the previews before the season started they had somebody (I don't remember who, one of the contestants) saying "I think sabotage happens" and then Tim asking someone to leave - so I always assumed someone sabotages someone else's work, which doesn't fit the Keith situation. As for him, he's defended himself recently saying that the situation isn't what it seems (don't want to get too spoilery).

I disliked Malan at first, but grew to like him better during this episode. When he accepted full responsibility for the dress's design instead of trying to pin the blame on Katie, I liked him even more. And then - auf'ed! I shouldn't have been surprised, though. There's no way the producers would have allowed crazy Vincent to leave so early, and the conflict between him and Angela is likely to continue for our viewing pleasure. Malan was too sane.
Uli's gown was my favorite, followed by Laura's very Laura design.

Well if you say so :) I read somewhere that he responded to the allegations with the explanation that he presented 5 different portfolios to the judges, and that the one these sketches are coming from was actually a portfolio put together for a client to demonstrate current trends in fashion at the time - which would explain why they were all other designer's work. Do I believe him? No. Does it cast doubt that this is the big scandal? Yes.
in the previews before the season started they had somebody (I don't remember who, one of the contestants) saying "I think sabotage happens"
Pek---if I'm not mistaken, it's Jeffrey the Giraffe that says that in the show's promo.
I disliked Malan at first, but grew to like him better during this episode. When he accepted full responsibility for the dress's design instead of trying to pin the blame on Katie, I liked him even more.
Totally agree! He really ddn't bother me half as much as Keith (smug) or Jeffrey (smugger) do. I found his voice & e'thng abt him strangely mesmerizing---i realize it's prolly a put-on, as if he's constantly trying 2 re-invent himself, but that's not the worst thing in the world. I appreciated that he was honest abt the dress's design & ddn't throw Katie under the bus. I felt bad 4 him at the end, crying away, he seemed really heartbroken & shocked & couldn't even look at the camera. Poor guy. Maybe his mom was rite abt the designs! (Oy, ddn't care 4 that li'l story, seemed like he was purposely eliciting sympathy from viewers, hate whn people do that, bttr 2 keep that 2 urself). His dress was fugly tho, in color, design, e'thng---what was he thnkg??!!
I liked Uli's dress the best & even Vincent's dress seemed quite wearable (minus the sleeves)---I loved how Angela hated it & all the judges vehemently disagreed w/ her, even the beauty queen contradicted her rite away. Wasn't crazy abt Kayne's dress---the model looked like she could barely walk in it!
Ugh, Angela---she came to Marla-levels of lameness when she met w/ the beauty queen 2 ask her all sorts of question @ her desired gown, instead of just drawing up a design b4hand like e'1 else (she was 2 busy badgering Kayne w/ pleas & questions). She seems really annoying, whereas Vincent, in his Woody Allen-like neuroticism, just seems crazy, but harmless, if left alone.
There was one shot of Angela when she was bending over while talking to Vinc. that was so unflattering---the pants she was wearing looked like some sort of gaucho/horse-riding pant w/ a weird cut-out in the middle, ugh, awful shot--for subjecting viewers to THAT site should've been enuf 2 get her kicked off!
I have no idea what 2 think abt the 'scandal'---when they aired it last wk, they did so during a piece on 'scenes from the upcoming SEASON', not episode, so can't b sure on when that segment will air, where TG says 'we're gonna hafta ask u 2 leave'.
Bonnie (Uli's partner 4 this challenge) has a voice that is SOOOOO bubbly, it grates on my ears e'time i hear it, a Valley Girl on hydrogen.

I have no idea what 2 think abt the 'scandal'---when they aired it last wk, they did so during a piece on 'scenes from the upcoming SEASON', not episode, so can't b sure on when that segment will air, where TG says 'we're gonna hafta ask u 2 leave'.
That shot of Angela from behind looked like she had peed her pants.
And, I looked at last weeks episode and it did say "scenes from the upcoming SEASON" like you said....no telling when the scandel will erupt.
I felt really badly for Malan. When he was crying at the end I was heartbroken for him...esp. after the little story about when he was 13 and showed his mother his sketches and she threw them in the floor. :(

I felt really bad for Malan. And I felt guilty for saying mean things about him last week. When he was like "I've never really had any friends, or fit in anywhere"... I got a huge lump in my throat. Poor guy- I'm sorry for saying mean things about you, Malan. His dress really was the least attractive, however.
My favorite dress was Uli's.

I liked the idea of Malan's dress. The top detail was very intricate and interesting. Too bad it was sloppily executed, totally wrong for the client, and the color of mud. I still think he has potential as a designer.
There's a character in Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon Days who leaves his small town home and unworldly family to attend college in the big city (well, a small city, but it's huge to him). He talks to girls with a fake French accent in an effort to seem exotic and sophisticated. He knows perfectly well that it doesn't fool them, but he makes himself feel exotic and sophisticated and that's a start.
Malan is the real-life version of this character.

I've been watching this show all three seasons and can't help but like it more and more. It's totally cheesy, but I felt so good for Kayne that he won this week (although Uli's dress was my fave). It just shows what Project Runway really can do for a designer's career- his little pageant shop will be boomin' after Miss USA wears his dress- and even if he doesn't make it to the final three, his life will be different. Alright, I have to go cry at a coffee commercial, now- excuse me.
I also felt awful for Malan when he said, "I've just been eliminated from the show, and I'm so ashamed..." This is the point where I start to get really pissy with reality shows. Angela shoulda been gone, but will stick around for more drama. Boo, producers!

Ok I haven't seen this yet, have to catch up on Tivo tonight, but from what I'm hearing we feel bad for the whiny guy who TURNED DOWN the show last year and insulted all of the interviewers in the process and then proceeded to whine on TV about how horrible his life is? "I've just been eliminated from the show, and I'm so ashamed..."I thought that that was both a very moving & very telling moment. It seems like he was raised in a family/culture that had VERY high expectations of him...and anything less than perfection is tough for him to swallow. His gentlemanly acceptance of blame for the design gone sour, his "I'm ashamed (of myself/my failing)" response to elimination, it all made me understand him more & it struck me as very sincere.
Who knows, he might be pulling our legs, but I didn't get that impression...

I agree, I thot it seemed pretty sincere too. He seemed genuinely upset at the end when he was crying & hadda turn away from the camera. Some of the others were crying, too, incl. his partner. This episode humanized him more, I thot---I assumed from what little we saw of him last week & during the casting special that he was going to be the cause of a lot of controversy, so this 'new' side of him threw me off. I really felt sad 2 see him go. I think the way Perrik described him upthread as the character in the Keillor novel seems v apt. He seems like a guy's who's prolly reinvented himself a few times.

I was also hoping Angela would be auf'd this week. I hate when someone who has the same name as me is an idiot.
I thought Kayne's dress was unflattering with that big puffy thing on the bottom. I think that would make you look shorter, because it breaks the "line" of the dress. I did love the necklace that was attached to the dress, very fancy.
I liked Malan from the beginning, and was sad to see him go. I love prissy, pompous people, especially when they have to interact with "regular" people. His dress was terrible looking. I think if he had more time it would have been really interesting.

Robert to Kayne about the rhinestones- "she's a beauty queen - not a disco ball"...those two are funny. The dress looked runway worthy. It will be cool to see on Tara when she wears it at the Miss Universe pageant.
Vera makes a good Judge but I did miss Michael's lisp.
Milan getting the auf' was a shocker! I was a little worried about him with the whole rejection issues and abandonment issues and all...when he said he felt ashamed I got a little verklempt - that kind of drama was not expected.

Just wanted to let those who are interested know that the Project Runway website is very entertaining. You can rate the designs each week and then all the clothes are auctioned off. It always interests me to see if the general public agrees with the judges (they almost never do). Week 1 had Robert's adorable white dress with the red bows auction for $521 while Keith's winning dress went for $265. Also my favorite coffee filter dress was $230. I suppose you have to wear that one on a sunny day not to mention be 6 feet tall and 43 pounds. I think the bidding on the pageant gowns is surprising too. Right now the winner is not the highest bid. It's fourth.

Ok so I finally watched this - I think Malan did redeem himself a bit, but he's still annoying no matter what his Mommy issues are.
The whole Angela / Vincent thing - both are nuts, but I had to side with Angela...if my "team leader" hasn't picked fabric with 5 minutes to go, or tells me to step 3 feet away from the project....I probably wouldn't react so well. BUT, then she wore that godawful outfit to the runway show and she lost my vote. Let me tell you, if I know that something is ugly, you've really gone off the deep end.
I'm glad Kayne won if for no other reason than because he can get kicked off this coming week and the show still did wonders for his career - he's got it made now.

I HATE KEITH!!!!!!!!! He's just so SMUG!
The dress he made was not innovative at all! Even I could make a dress out of a bed sheet - and when he didn't take Tim Gunn's advice, I thought for sure he would be booted. No such luck! Bah!
My favorite is Laura (you know, the boobless redhead). That coat she made in the first episode was gorg! And I can't believe the dress she collaborated with Michael on wasn't in the top 3. The white and rhinestones was breathtaking.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the judges are prejudiced. Michael's coffee-filter dress was innovative, unique and beautiful. Not to mention flouncy ;) Seems to me that Michael should have been in the top three on the last 2 challenges. I smell a rat.

While I was surprised that Michael's coffee filter dress didn't win, I wasn't that surprised about his and Laura's dress not being in the top three. The Beauty pageant queen specifically told the designers to avoid white. Does Laura ever make or wear anything not in white, grey, or black? Does she ever miss an opportunity to mention she's an architect?
I'll miss Malan. He had the fun kind of crazy, while Vincent seem to have the sad, 'I need medication' kind of crazy.
I HATE KEITH!!!!!!!!! He's just so SMUG!
he is, he is, i don't like him either!! or Jeffrey---he seems really smug, 2. Previews 4 nxt wk make it seem as if he gets in2 a tiff w/ Laura. It would b great if he is the 1 who suddenly gets asked to leave.
Laura has a calm, classy manner abt her---the kind of person who's feathers don't get ruffled easily & even whn they do, she manages to maintain her composure--at least that's the way it looks like in the previews 4 nxt wk---we'll see!
my fave so far, personality-wise, is Robert. Micheal seems cool but i haven't seen enuf of hm 2 really know him yet. Kayne seems fine so far, but I have a feeling he can get pretty dramatic & bitchy.

My favorite dress was Uli's but I think the top should be different (not so low cut). A tie or close second for me was Kayne's dress. The long necklace elongated the silhouette and I think the 'mermaid' style is flattering. I guess we'd have to see it on actual person instead of a 6 foor tall model!
I was shocked that Malan was bumped. He seemed obnoxious in most of the interviews shown before but I did feel sympathy for him in this most recent show. He worked well with Katherine. His dress was attractive but maybe too much (even for a beauty pagent). It should not have gotten him eliminated. It closely followed the drawing that he did and he was picked as a team leader based on that drawing.
I agree that Angela should have been tossed off. At the beginning, she didn't do the drawings as requested and she was unco-operative with Vincent (but he didn't make it easy to be co-operative) and she hated the dress (unlike Miss USA). I thought she pee'd her pants too! Then I thought it looked too symetrical to be "natural" so it must be a different color fabric. Yuk!
I like the new TVGasm 'titles' for posters (even if I am Fresh Meat). I read more than I post. :)

I was SO pissed that Angela didn't even bother to make a sketch! I am no crazy Vincent lover, but he is the lesser of two evils. Just seems a little wacky. And I remember thinking the same thing when she was leaning over on the work-table, "Man her ass looks huge in those pants, and it looks like she peed herself..." I just don't get her artsy-craftsy aesthetic, either. Fashion can be innovative without looking like you bought it at a flea market- like Uli's dress.

You are right- those dress auctions are fun to watch. God though, those dresses are sized 0 to 2 for women standing 5'10" to 6'2. Holy crap- why is everyone so down on actresses for their weight? It is obvious who the real culprit is. I try really hard to stay in shape. I workout and I am always fucking hungry. And I am 5'2 and a half (and the half is very important when you are 5'2) and anywhere from a size 3 to an 8, depending on the clothes. And God Dammit! I think I look pretty good. But, I can't believe people actually are expected to be a size 2 at 6 feet tall. I mean seriously... aren't these women HUNGRY??? This is just insane to me.

I met with several of the NY agencies as a teen. They all said the same thing "we love your look. We's like to work with you. Here's the diet you need to follow." It was several pages of exercise, tons of water, and maybe a grape. I was 14 or 15, 5'10" 135 tops, size 5 juniors, fit as a fiddle and too fat for them. I said "Fuck this. I'd rather smoke pot."

This question goes out to people who know how reality shows work. Is it possible that the people who edit the shows use footage that isn't really flattering to the contestants/"stars" of the show on purpose? That shot of Angela's ass was just so bad I wonder if it was used on purpose. Maybe everone already knows she's a bitch so they're going out of their way to make her look bad. Well, even if it's not true, I sure enjoyed a very catty moment snickering at her ridiculous pee-stained pants.

Yeah...there was a big hullaballoo recently about the editors of reality shows wanting in at the Writers Guild of America. They argued that by editing the "reality" a certain way, they are actually writing a story. So, it's all about enhancing the drama (and making up drama as they go along).

I just have to note how well Project Runway timed their season - to have the Miss USA dress episode the week right before the actual pageant - they had to really be planning ahead. It just occurred to me today, so I thought I'd mention it :)

agree, that takes some serious planning! I read in that Tim Gunn interview that they've just finished wrapping up tapings of the show (minus the last 3 finale) so that pageant episode was prolly taped in the spring a while back. Still, its airing was v timely. That dress looked nice on Miss USA, she looked like a Barbie doll, v pretty!
I happened to go to Toys' R' Us recently to buy a gift for my fr'nds daughter & i happened upon Nick's 'My Scene' Barbie from last season---the outfit looked cuter on the model, not so much on the Barbie (the My Scene Barbie isn't the regular Barbie model, she's got an even bigger head than normal). Guess the dolls aren't selling like 'bagels' anymore! (to quote Heidi)

i hear ya, that was lame! altho i did agree the loser's outfit was boring, the runner-up to loser was AWFUL, who in gods name would wear that? (not counting the designer or some unfortunate play dolls) i knew from previous TV ads for upcoming episodes (namely that 1 w/ Tim G telling the cast some1 has 2 leave) that the 2nd 2 last person was gonna stay.
nywho, at least nxt wk we get 2 finally see the highly touted, controversial episode! Now i'm wondering if what others on ths thread are right abt that sabotage talk? hmmm.
I think some1 should put Laura in a room w/ 5 little dogs & force her 2 spend 1 hr w/ 'm!! if she mentions how she's had 5 kids 1 more freakin time, i run the dangerous chance of breaking my TV screen w/ the remote. For god's sake, she's not the only prsn in the modern world 2 ever accomplish such a feat! nywys, her designs are fine, but the kids thing, jeez. enuf already.
Keith. UGH. so smug!! his outfits are nice tho, but the smugness would drive me mad.

Laura seems like a very cold woman to me. I mean, how could you not think those dogs were cute. She shoved her dog away when she was sketching like it was an inanimate object. I don't know, I just don't get people who can't appreciate and love an animal.
And did you see the footage of her kids? Looked like BRATS to me- I bet they don't listen to a thing she says. She's "Bad Mommy- Bad Mommy".
Bradley totally lucked out, Keith is an arrogant dickhead, and apparently Vincent went off his meds. That guy's a frickin' nutjob.

I'm with you guys. At least Katherine made a cute hoodie for her pooch. That lame-ass story Angela made up about an art camp in Paris, WTF? Yup, I agree w/ all of u guys, Clair, derder, MsCCRN---Angela is v much like WP---the fabrics she used were pretty and she seemed to sew well, but the turnout of the outfit was horrible---those bubble skirts are hardly flattering on any1, even the skinny model. & that style is so dated!
I'm glad Uli won so that h'fully now she will design something DIFF'T--her dresses so far have been cute but they all seem to B cut from the same style pattern. show us s'in new!
Vincent laff'd a li'l 2 hard at the newsboy cap for his dog.
I wondered abt Laura aftr ths episode, her reaction to the pooches annoyed me. Fine, u're not a dog person, fine, i've heard of people like that, but u don't have to go outta the way to show us how not in2 animals u r (it's b/c i have 5 kids!) she seemed so deliberately obnoxious whn she put her dog in her bag (i hope it crapped in it!) & later whn she kept shoving the pooch away fr the sketches---you'd think it was a python or s'in. I luv'd how she guess the fashion accessory would b horses (?) once she opened the note abt going up to Central Park so she wore riding pants & boots---uhm, since whn are horses so common they are America's most popular accessory?? i thnk even the girl who guessed cellphones was closer to reality than L.
oh Bradley---nice colors, fabrics, but man i thot he was a goner til i realized he's been shown on those ads for future episodes so i wondered how he'd pull it off. that blouse was so unflattering but i can see it in a mag (u know the kind that show stuff that no normal person would wear?!)

I can't believe they let Angela slide again. Ulli deserved the win though, with Allison a close second.
Laura doesn't seem to understand that while having five kids might explain why you don't own a dog, it doesn't explain why you don't like dogs. I can't own a dog either, because of housing restrictions, but I still like them. I would have loved to have had a chance to play with a dog for a couple of days.
I do like Laura's designs, even though her color pallette is tedious. She seems to choose black/gray/white/neutrals for everything. I bet she throws bright red in there every once in a while to try to prove she's not boring.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Just look at how she dresses her flat-chested self. Usually tailored black & white outfits with a "pop" of red lipstick just to show how daring a mommy of five can be. However, I like her designs also. Ah, but do you wear the slit-down-to-the-waist tops? Laura secretly feels superior to the mommies who don't.
Uli's (I just love that name) use of prints was really creative. I really admire the ability to look at the bolts of cloth and see how it will work in the final product. Robert's tweed outfit did a similar thing. When I saw the cloth in the store I though it was ugly, but when I saw the final outfit- it rocked.
Angela, on the other hand- hideous purple fabric in, hideous purple skirt out.

nywys, ur gossip caused me to look up her bio on the Bravo, as well as the Q & A. Among her fashion DO's, she lists 'wearing red lipstick'. Having then looked at her photos, I might rethink that if I were her---I think she styles herself well, very elegantly, but the bright red lipstick on her already large set of lips does not flatter her AT ALL (much like her plunging neckline on non-existing boobage area) --- the sight lends itself to Skeletor, in drag.

Dude- for real, that first season, I turned it off about four episodes into it. It sucked huge!! But TVgasm got me curious last year- so I watched. I gotta tell ya, Lizardqueen- it is now in my top five favorite TV shows. I actually look forward to the TV show itself as much as I look forward to summer. (Another thing I love about BB- I now equate it with summer, kind of like I equate football with going back to school, fall weather).
You really should give it another shot. And I also think all the die hard fans would say the same thing... Season 1 was not Big Brother. It was just a bunch of uninteresting people living in a house together. TRUST ME!!
Dude, that cabin email was pretty embarrassing. Imagine if it had been some thing private! Anyway, I'd rather have you up there then Jesse (Ugh!)

In my reality tv experience, if someone leaves a show for a reason other than the normal vote-off (ie: illness, asking to leave, getting booted) then that's the only person who leaves that week. Otherwise, it throws off the timing of the show, etc.

good point, that makes sense! the curiosity of knowing whom TG asks to leave is killing me!! I know abt the copycat designer rumors, but I just wonder if that is too obvious (& at ths pt, too public) to be the case. Rem'br a few yrs ago, during the 1st Survivor, when there were rumors that Gervase was going to be the guy to win it all? That same night the show aired, he was voted off, to the shock of e'one who thought they knew who was gonna win. Turns out it was a brilliant marketing ploy on the part of the producers. Nywho, we shall see!

How funny that we all pretty much knew who was going home but we had the wrong reason why. That guy was shady all around. I'm not disappointed with who went home; I didn't see her making it very far anyway. I am surprised that anyone went home, though. Like ObstinantGirl said, you'd think they'll be off schedule now. They'll have to cut a competition. Oh, well. It was a boring episode overall (even Angela wasn't that bad) and they hyped the scandal so much that was boring, too. yes, she should b & Laura's smooth, calm & competent handling of her impressed me. if they had let her, she would've decorated that jacket to no end.
Keith...wasted his own talent when he didn't have to...BIG loser!
he really was, embarassing. I agree w/ Jampony that b/c ths episode was so hyped up by Bravo, and the rumors abt Keith's copying of other designers in his portfolio, the actual event that unfolded seemed comparatively lame. He got fired b/c of books??? He shouldn't be breaking the rules, but that is a dumb-ass way to go!
I'm glad they got rid of space-voiced Bonnie, she seemed harmless & all but her voice irritates me---you know that ad for Visa Identity theft where they show some guy talking, but with a young woman's voiceovr? (the woman is supp'sd 2 have stolen his c/c & is now on a mad shopping spree). The voice is talking about buying a leather bustier, fake nails, etc. Anywys, i think that voice belonged to Bonnie, they are 1 & the same.

I can't decide if Bradley's funny & wacky, or if he really irritates me! Or both? I dunno...strange guy.
Horrible clothes this episode. I mean, impressive in terms of how detailed they're getting...these designers are WAYYYYY past the previous designers in terms of sewing skills, huh? No hesitation about doing sleeves, lined clothing, and so forth. It's great to see.
But, I didn't like a single outfit that they designed.
Oh, before I forget, I was SO wrong! Obviously, they booted Keith AND eliminated someone. I'm actually glad that I was wrong, because the episode would have been yawn-worthy (moreso than it was) with the whole challenge being essentially pointless.
Angela's nuts. I wish she'd been allowed to sink. But I do understand that Laura and Michael didn't want to go down with the AngelaTanic. They should have gotten HUGE props for saving that nasty outfit.
I reallly like Laura and Michael.
Allison seems very sweet.
Jeffrey wasn't quite as annoying this episode, I just think they need to keep him overly busy and he won't have so much time to yap his trap!
Kayne bugs.
But, I didn't like a single outfit that they designed.
 bleck, me neither!! I ddn't like the weird straps on Keith/Jeffrey/Allison's 'convertible' top & i'm not a fan of skinny jeans, but that's a personal pref.

But your reasoning 4 y they wouldn't get rid of some1 makes more sense---the producers of the show were probably counting on, say, 15 episodes, to provide Bravo, what happens whn some1 gets kicked out early, outside of their original scheduling? Maybe they'll have 2 produce a filler episode or so, or a 2 hr one? Nywys, u're rite, glad it worked the way it did b/c it would've been even more boring otherwise.
Angela's nuts. I wish she'd been allowed to sink. But I do understand that Laura and Michael didn't want to go down with the AngelaTanic. They should have gotten HUGE props for saving that nasty outfit.
AngelaTanic, hee hee :D
this is from Tim Gunn's blog on Bravo:
'And please let me put some rampant speculation to rest. It seems that everyone now knows about the sketchbook in which Keith presents copies of the work of other fashion designers. Nina, Heidi, Michael and I all noted this when we reviewed the portfolios of the semi-finalists. Keith presented four to six sketchbooks and look-books (I can’t recall the exact number), and we assumed that this particular book was for inspiration. Fashion Designers have a responsibility to look at the design work around them. Many make notes or illustrations of the work that appeals to them. It’s not at all unusual. So, for us, that sketchbook was and continues to be a non-issue.'

Since it was the first time someone was asked to leave, I would like to believe that they have something else up their sleeve to be another first. In my dream world they would have one of the remaining challenges not count in the sense that someone goes home, but the winner still has immunity but they get some type of reward. A private dinner with Tim or the guest judge. Something fashion-y. That way they still keep the number of episodes without doing a recap or "scene's that you haven't seen before" show which is ususally a bore.
Of course you couldn't tell the designers until after they complete the garment that no one will go home.
Since it was the first time someone was asked to leave, I would like to believe that they have something else up their sleeve to be another first.
i agree, they must have s'in planned, like a reward you suggested, or even as was done on another Bravo reality show (Top Chef), when some1 hadda suddenly leave early, they could bring back a contestant that's been kicked off (Malan, any1?! i would luv that)

The outfits this episode were boring. But, the designers didn't really have a choice as they were designing ready-to-wear for Macy's. The outfits had to be consumer friendly.
I was glad that Angela actually showed a little intelligence and listened to Skeletor (can't think of her name right now) and Michael. They kept her outfit very close to her sketch, and that was the reason she won. I kind of liked her outfit. I never thought I would say that about one her designs!
Bradley is such a space cadet. I hope he is a pot smoker, otherwise he's just dumb and slow.
The bottom two outfits were really bad. They didn't appeal to any age group or demographic. Even grannies don't want to look like they have a load in their pants!

It was nice to see a teamwork challenge that actually showed teamwork, well, working instead of devolving into either arguing or doing whatever the project leader said. Angela came up with a fairly hip idea (not that I'd buy it, either) and Laura and Michael kept her from going over the top. And they did it without shouting at each other.

As of right now, there's still a likeable core of designers on this show. Actually, an unusually high number of likeable people, now that I think about it. Reality TV powers-that-be don't usually allow us so many people to enjoy watching.
Uli, Laura, Michael, Robert, Allison, Kayne are all pretty likeable...at least from what we've seen so far.
Jeffrey, Vincent and Angela bug me a bit, but nothing compared to the contempt that I felt towards Santino.
