Fantasy Amazing Race - Season 12 [Archive]

Hello Gasmers!

After much consideration I have decided to do Fantasy Amazing Race again this year. It's not as fancy as Fantasy Survivor, and I don't get access to episodes so sometimes my questions end up not making sense, but I try and that's what counts right?

It works like this: Every week I will post questions - I will make the post BIG and BLUE like this, so you can find them easily. There won't be as many questions each week as last year, so I don't get overwhelmed.

To play - you will copy the questions and email your answers to: fantasyamazingrace@gmail.com. PUT YOUR TVGASM MEMBER NAME IN THE SUBJECT LINE!!!! It's that easy! Have your answers in by 8pm Eastern time on Sundays (some leeway when football delays the show, but I'm on the West Coast now so this will take some honesty on your part).

We have an itroduction thread too.. we absolutley love new people and will welcome you with open arms... and in a few cases legs. ;) I guess I know I have one of Peks questions right .. and I choose Europe.. Ireland specifically because of a statement made at the CBS site......

I hate to play the fantasy game when I read spoilers so in the direct opposite of what I did in Big Brother I will not be sneaking peeks into the future.

Actually I should clarify. I created the google map mashup that details where the Amazing Race team will be visiting (based on another forum {not mine] with spoilers and speculation). So other than location, I should be in the same boat (or airplane, bicycle or whatever traveling means) as everyone else here.

I'm really surprised to be in first on this leg. Doubt it will continue though as I'm not the best at these kinds of games. It's pretty fun though - glad to be participating!

So there's a game like this for Survivor too?

Nah - I do enough spoiler searching when coming up with questions (I hardly use them, mostly just to see if they trigger any good question ideas), that it wouldn't be fair for me to join in. Not to mention I feel silly when I'm running the thing and I end up 12th :)

I saw two short commercials, and the "scenes from our next episode" thingy. If I saw things right, they're going to be racing around a place that I've been to before.

Then again, the last time I saw Amazing Racers racing around a place that looked familiar to me, it turned out I was wrong by about 6000 miles...so we'll see.

Oh My God! I completely forgot! I thought I had already posted them - I guess the fact that nobody sent me their answers should have tipped me off. I'm so sorry.

Since I know some people won't see these, and I'm SO late, I'll up the number of erased weeks to 2. When the season is over, I'll take everybody's lowest TWO scores and toss them.

Week 4 Questions (11/25 episode)

1. Which team will come in 1st place? (only ONE answer this week)

2. Which team will come in last place? (only ONE answer this week)

3. Previews discuss a "controversial decision" by Shana & Jennifer - will this decision involve a taxi? (for example, stealing one, telling taxi drivers other teams have Bird Flu, etc)

4. How many clues will each team open in the course of this leg?

5. At any point during this episode, will ALL teams be on the SAME flight/bus/ferry? (it is not enough to all be caught up at the airport, they must all take the same transportation at some point)

6. PAY ATTENTION: Pick a PLACE (1st, 2nd, 3rd, Last, etc). 1 point each time that PLACE appears on screen in reference to a team (I will NOT count things like "1st flight" or "2nd bus").

Ruling on the field stands. Upon review, it was determined that the driver of the transportation does not ipso facto amend the form of transportation itself, therefore a taxi is equivalent to a self-driven vehicle.

Stilts will hereby qualify as a mode of transportation, and those players who answered 3 modes of transportation will be given 10 points for that question. However, as the original scoring error was on my part, players who answered 2 modes of transportation will not be penalized by the removal of their points. The result of this ruling is that two answers will be accepted for this faulty question. New scores will be posted later tonight.

Hmm, I disagree about the stilts because not all the teams used this mode of "transportation." To be counted as a mode of transportation I think all teams should use it. Also, now if someone uses a bungee cord, or rappelling (spelling?) equipment or a parachute during a challenge, will those count as modes of transportation? What if you lead an animal with a saddle on it, but you don't ride it? We are getting into very slippery slope territory here and I am not sure we want to go there. When Meredith was pushing Gretchen around on that ridiculous wooden elephant or whatever it was, was that transportation? Gretchen was the only one stupid enough to climb up on the thing. See what I am getting at here?

I am calm...
I even have medication to calm me further but I am seriously afraid it will drive to be view sub par television Judge Shows such as Maria Lopez.. or Judge Alex... or the seriously deranged Jury Duty. Next thing you know I will be ordering Jerry Springer DVD's and completely falling off the face of the earth! (although I did see Pickel in the audience of Dr. Phil's show about obese children!)

I to would love three modes of transport..
but I understand the automobile thing..
and the stilts are a stretch.....
and was not offered in the original offerings....
I really did think out the taxi vs self driven when I made my choice...
no I see the error of my ways....
alas..
I will try harder next week to regain the lead with out instant replay.....

I am thihnking if I don't see am Amazing Race commercial I am in trouble.. because I know they showed what country the are going too.... and I don't remember.....

This may surprise some of you, but the kind of discussion above is the kind of discussion I have in my head when I write the questions, to try to make the questions as clear as possible (and to make scoring them as easy for me as possible. I didn't do so well on this one.

The question is erased. No points, no issue. Right? Well, I'm sure some will disagree, so new rule: What I say goes. So there. It takes enough time to score the damn thing, I'm not scoring it three times a week to adjust for this. I'll just try to write the questions clearer from now on. Score totals will be adjusted with the next episode's scores.

I was just pulling your leg..... but I think the stilts may be a mode too.. and my grandma always called walking a mode of transportation...... and she wasn't dingy until she was real old........... if I hadn't frazzled Pek to so much disgust that she threw the question out I would come up with a few more obscure modes of transportaion.......... some of them would only fit in Choochs XXX thread though......

And yes pek, you are the boss... it is your game, I am just happy to be playing it.. and i hope being so close to the top hasn't gone to my head.......... becuase a few bad choices and i will be in, like, 6th place or something.....carry on.

oh my freaking fing cox cable aholes... i set the machine to record when they said AR would be no and it came on an half hour early... I started the show when AHOLE GRANDSON was driving a taxi.... Half over the show was...... sheet football.... darn network boobies....... crap.

But i did get the first place right..... ha..... and the judges at the robot thingy... and the love, route markers, clue numbers......... who the crap knows because I only got one half of the freaking show......

Oh no! I absolutely hate spoilers. I read one for TAR when Joyce and Uchenna won and it just ruined the finale for me. My daughter was watching it with me and it was so intense for her when they were trying to scrounge up cab money that she was practically on the edge of the couch.
