hot boy models  - YAY!

this challenge seemed incredibly hard (no pun intended!)...

sweet p's shirt made me laugh soooo much! the neck was ridiculous! but atleast she actually got a shirt on him! i cant believe that that girl just wrapped fabric around her model's neck. i would have made him walk shirtless!

i like christian, kevin, and jack. kit's was okay but i just didnt like it. why did mk lurve the navy fleece?

and why was jack always carrying christian around? he carried him into the workroom first in a bag and then on his back... what was up with that?

I agree, this was one of the most difficult challenges I have seen on this show, and I have watched from season one, day one. I actually liked Kit's best...I would have liked Jack's best if he had made one more piece. As is, I think all those stripes will look very busy on a television screen.

Glad the tranny is gone. As awful as Sweet P's was, at least she MADE a shirt. And her pants were okay. Everything the tranny made looked like crap.

Does anyone else think that Kevin looks like J-Wahl?

I was thinking that Kevin looked like Joey Fatone from Nsync. Good lord this was a hard challenge for all of them. I was getting annoyed that they were all getting annoyed at Jack and company for using the pattern. He asked Tim and he said it was ok. I can't help it they didn't find a way to bend the rules.

I also noticed Jack carrying Christian around and thought it was hilarious! I don't know why he was doing it but I thought it was funny!

I also wasn't a fan of the fleece jacket everyone loved. I thought it looked sloppy. but hey what do I know about fashion.

I too was annoyed with the use of a pattern. I was taking Mr. Tim Gunn's saying they could use what they were wearing as meaning you could look at it to get ideas of how it works, not cut it appart and trace it as a pattern like a four year old could. I was annoyed with their lack of creativity and taking the easy way out. So kudos to those who didn't and did well. I don't think Jack deserved the win at all.

Hehe I was watching last night and became convinced Kevin looks like the lead singer of System of a Down.

I haven't spoken about this show yet this season...my favorite show. I'm loving it already. Last night was SUPER difficult. Sweet P's shirt just had me giggling, and I agree, at least she made a shirt.

Chris (I think is his name) is my favorite, because I love big, old queens. Seriously as soon as I saw him he was my fave. I don't know how long he'll last since he seems to just float in the middle, but I'm loving him.

I never realized men's clothing was that hard to design. It seems that they've had to make menswear in seasons past. I remember Nick and Michael making great mens outfits. All of the designns last night were nightmares. I really thought more than one should have gone home.

Correction: Nick didn't make a great men's outfit. He made Daniel a women's suit. No pockets, no buttons on the jacket.

You are exactly right, Tom. Daniel made Nick a great suit. I think Nick was eliminated based on the effeminate woman's-wear outfit he made for Daniel. Daniel didn't need any help looking femmie.

I liked this episode - it was great to watch everyone have a melt down! But both Carmen and Ricky should have gone home - there was nothing about either of those outfits that was redeamable.

I don't understand why menswear is so hard. I mean really, you've made a woman's pants, jacket and blouse - make everything slightly bigger and just a bit more tailored and put the plackets on the other side - but the patterns would be basically the same.

I laughed out loud at the designer making the model sew on the buttons! And LOVED the shots of the male models in their underwear and of their abs - glad we don't have to watch that of the girls!

WTF was up with the crazy chick not watching her model put his pants on? She is a designer, but can't touch a man to fit his clothing unless it is her boyfriend? And wouldn't you like to meet him?? :scared:

I knew I should have researched my comment before posting.... my memory is not the best. I just remember Nick looked good.

Why do I always miss the funny stuff??? How was he carrying him? On his back? In his arms? I need info, people!

Well, unless you're special and got to watch it live, you did see it on a television screen. ;) I thought the stripes were thin enough and far enough apart to not look weird. At least, on my tv they were fine. [/QUOTE]

I remember one designer who had a background in menswear. I can't remember who it was, though. But I seem to remember everyone wanted to be his partner.

Well, it's not just the size difference, the proportions would be different, too. And they didn't have the guy's measurements beforehand and their forms were for women, not men, so I guess I can see how it would be harder. But then I think, did they seriously have no training in menswear -- ever? Not even in some college class they took five years ago? They're professionals, right? Figure it out!

Hey smartass, what I was saying was that the challenge was to make something for TikkiTapeParade to wear on a segment of the Today show and so they should pay attention to what looks good on TV. But since you asked, yes, I was there. I am actually Heidi Klum. I just haven't told any of you because I didn't want anyone to be jealous of my long legs, gorgeous hair, huge bank account or sexy husband.

Oh, and Jampers--YOU ARE OUT!

I died when she did that! C'mon earth mother... you should be all about the essence of the natural human body.

Really wasn't feeling Jack's design. He made a simple shirt and slacks with two different types of stripes. I thought Kevin's design was sharp.

Well, from what I hear, you do fill out those Victoria's Secret bras pretty well, so I suppose it is possible that you're really Heidi.

But I know what you mean. Except for that one chick, nobody put any thought into how the cameras will distort certain patterns and it was just luck that any of them looked okay.

Hmm, my spell checker doesn't like how "okay" is spelled. Is that not a real word? I have to go look it up now.

Ok, I thought Chloe made Nick's outfit, it was a pinstriped pants and vest and had a cute, pink back. And Daniel made a really ugly red dress for Chloe, and Nick made an ugly woman's suit for Daniel. And Kara made a cute sportwear outfit for Santino, and Santino made a catsuit for Kara. That's the way I remember it.

This episode was fun because of all the beefcake on display, it was a nice change of pace from skinny, tall girls.

My mom is an experienced seamstress, and she felt this challenge was pretty unfair. She said menswear is a lot different from women's clothing, the seams are different, the pleating and draping are different, even the zippers need to be sewn in a special way. She felt it was almost impossible to make a suit in the time they were given.

I think a lot of the designers on this season on are self-taught, no fashion school.

What I meant actually was that the pieces are basically the same - men's or woman's you put in two sleeves and sew on a collar the same way. I have made both (not men's suits, but pants and shirts and vests) and it is really not all that difficult, if you have any knowledge of sewing and patterns at all. Mostly tho these guys just make dresses.

And I thought they had male forms. Didn't the chick who knocked hers over have a male form? And the models came in on the first day, so they should have had measurements.

Damn, I've been schooled!

You are so right. Daniel made Chloe look like a hardened prostitute/brass balls 80's bitch. Hard to do with a mild-mannered, cute midget.
