Its announced as Thursday 31st January, pity there is only 8 episodes at the moment with the strike on.

ABC has announced their schedule for the new year. The big news is that the network has officially announced the return of Lost, which will debut on January 31st at 9:00 pm ET/PT. For the first time, Lost will be on a new night, having been on Wednesdays (albeit in three different time periods) since its debut. Thursday is the new home for the series, in the timeslot usually occupied by ABC's huge hit Grey's Anatomy.

Lost completed eight of the sixteen episodes planned for this season before the current Writers Guild strike. The show's executive producers, Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, had made it clear they hoped ABC would hold these episodes until the strike is resolved and the rest of the season could be finished. However, it was understood that the network was likely to show them, which obviously has turned out to be the case.

ABC's midseason slate includes the new Lucy Liu series Cashmere Mafia, quirky law drama Eli Stone and reality programs Oprah's Big Give and Dance War: Bruno Vs. Carrie Ann, the latter a spinoff of their popular Dancing with the Stars series.

Interestingly, ABC is keeping some serialized series -- including Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives -- on the schedule, despite the lack of new episodes thanks to the strike.

did anyone else watch the clip on abc's website "everything you need to know about lost in 8 min 15 sec"? at first i didnt think it was possible to recap 3 seasons in 8 mins but the girl talks sooo fast! there were a couple funny lines in it too. the best was "they see jack playing catch with mr. friendly. mr. friendly throws like a girl."

Me too! I don't like to admit this, but I think I sort of have a crush on him.

Sawyer and Desmond? There's no "sort of" with those two!

from today's TVGal...

On Wednesday, ABC is repeating last May’s third season finale at 9/8c p.m. They’re calling it a "special enhanced version" since it will feature text on the lower third of the screen to let viewers into the clues of the show. Sure it sounds a lot like Pop Up Lost but I’ll be tuning in. Then on Thursday at 8/7c p.m., ABC is airing a one-hour special entitled Lost: Past, Present & Future which will be immediately followed by the fourth season premiere at 9/8c p.m.

I believe its a 1 hour catchup and 1 hour premiere, but I'm not 100% certain. The clue is whether the commercials say "2 hour premiere" or "2 hour premiere event" - the latter means only 1 hour of new show.

I know! It's exciting, isn't it? You know, I love Lost just as much as the next person, but I think the reason I LOOOOOVE Lost this time around is because we're starved for good tv. For ANY tv, actually. It better be worth it!

I think just two hours (one recap, one new) because Eli Stone premieres afterwards.

OMFG I BOUGHT MY GODDAUGHTER TICKETS TO GO SEE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL ON ICE FOR CHRISTMAS AND NOW I HAVE TO EFFING GO WATCH A LOW RENT VERSION OF A BAD MUSICAL INSTEAD OF SITTING AT HOME DROOLING OVER SAWYER. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I m devastated. Do you think if maybe I "forget" she'll forgive me sometime before she reaches the age of majority?

I just gave up on the "pop up" showing of Through the Looking Glass. I found all the little "facts" at the bottom of the screen to be terribly distracting. Most of the information I saw wasn't very helpful-it was more like a running commentary on what I could very obviously see was happening on-screen, "Jack is troubled." Well, duh. When is Jack NOT troubled? I will wait for tomorrow night, for the real thing, thank you very much!

OMG - It was so good to see the flying Lost graphic at the beginning of the show. I got goosebumps. Is that weird?

Then at the end when you get that Lost logo that snaps onto the screen - they came back!

And now - tonight - new new newness. WOOT!

The subs reminded me of sitting next to my smart alecky husband who always gives over the top, obvious information. Glad he wasn't there too.

The kids loved it. Robert had lost interest a long time ago, but watched this with us and loved it. We can't wait for tonight.

Okay, I taped this show last night in hopes of getting the Lost bug... are you telling me that the show last night was kind of a recap of everything that has happened? Will it catch me up enought to be able to begin watching this show? I am taping tonight also....

What is going on, I feel excitment for a show i have NEVER watched... how sick am I?

giff.... last night's show was the final episode of season #3. It was only a refresher course for those who needed an update .... kinda like "...previously on LOST...." Tonight at 8pm, it seems they are going to show a montage of the last three seasons. Then at 9pm, we will see the first new episode of the season (YAY) and then 7 more new episodes that were filmed before the writer's strike will air every week.
