Anyone going to watch it? I am torn. Somehow I got roped in to watching Season 1 and was extremely disappointed with the outcome.

Oh, I'm heart broken...I didn't watch the first one at all but when "Pretty Vegas" came out I was like Damn! I actually went out & bought the CD because of that song & JD. Now I'm actually interested in watching the show, but also because how can you not watch the trainwreck that will be Tommy Lee? I am scared of Dave Navarro though, his head is just WAY too big for his body, it's quite disturbing,

I wonder if you would have felt the same way if you watched the show...JD was obnoxious and just a jerk...so it was really difficult to be happy when he won.

Anyways, I was hoping it would be different hosts this time...but I guess not. That Brooke Burke chic had no clue what she was doing and I agree with you totally about Dave....

I guess maybe it's a good thing I didn't watch the first one, because I've got a major crush on JD-it's better to have the fantasy than know the reality! But I also agree with Double L, it's kind of like AI. You can be a great singer (or in the case of the past season, a pretty good singer) but if you have no presence or character, you're not gonna be a good fit.

When is this on? That's all I need, another show to watch!

JD was a big giant ass. I was an INXS fan (was) prior to them signing JD. I wouldn't dream of buying anything that would put money in his pocket. Ass. I think they picked him more for his brown nosing and politicking then for his voice.

I loved Mig and Marty Casey was amazing. It was a far better show than American Idol because the talent is greater. These people are polished performers. It's a whole notha animal from AI.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of sound Tommy Lee is looking for.

Hey, maybe now that Katie Joel is out of a hosting job she can have this gig. I'm not sure which is worse, Dave's out-of-proportion head or her Stepford Wife-like waxiness.

Again, glad I didn't watch last year's show after what I'm hearing. But what can I say, I like his voice & IMO he's easy on the eyes & seems to be a good front man. Like all men, I guess he screws things up when he opens his mouth! (Ha, just kidding!...sort of)

YAY! I am so happy to see I'm not the only one that will never buy anything from him either. I was beginning to think it was just me.

I'm definitely watching this show! I was a huge Marty Casey fan last year, and I'll buy a CD of his any day over one with JD Fortune.

Marty would have been a much better choice for INXS. He was the only one with the vocal range to actually sing any of the older INXS songs.

JD has zero range, other to sound like Elvis. Cannot stand 'Pretty Vegas'.
When CSI started using it, it almost caused me to stop watching it.

Does anyone else think Dave Navarro looks like a leperchaun?

Just hope the house band is as good as last year. It was what made the show.

great to watch. Let's hope this year is as good as the last.

Mig was my favorite and I thought he would have been right for our band INXS. I really thought he was a lock.
But once he was gone, I was rooting for Marty all the way. Does he have any music I can buy online anywhere?
I'm looking forward to the new season too. Will Dave Navarro even be on it this time? I can't remember seeing him on the commercial and I'd love to see him cry again.

I guess I'm the only member of JD's fan club here, although I'm guessing that's because I never watched the show last year. I don't mind being the odd one out, wouldn't be anything new! I guess it also helps he did a thing here on a local morning radio show with some contestants in the radio station's own "Rock Star" contest and he was pretty cool with them. I'm sure he had to do the same thing all over the country, but he didn't appear to be the ass everyone here says he is. copygodd, I hope you got a prosthetic limb for your cat.

And yes, Dave Navarro is one scarey-looking leprechaun!!

I just heard a radio commercial for the show tonight and they were talking about JD and said he was homeless and living on the street before he went on to win last season. Is that true? Admittedly, I didn't start watching until about midway, but I don't remember this being mentioned and you'd think it'd be an angle that they would play up.

And yes, I saw the lunch and took tonssssssssss of photos that have all mysteriously vanished from my digi-card, gonna see if my tech support pal can restore them.

Does anyone else get really uncomfortable and embarrassed when someone is doing just awful? I had to change the channel when that one guy (I think his name was Chris?) was singing Roxanne by The Police. It was dreadful. I felt so bad for him.

I do angie, but I don't change the channel. he did that to himself when he chose that arrangement. His line to the guys about the original version not being "contemporary" was just a load of bullshit. He should have just told the truth and said that it was out of his range.

Chris's song wasn't as bad as Kellie Pickler's cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody". That one made my ears bleed.

pure evil, copygodd..i love it!!
I can't decide if I really like or I'm really afraid of that crazy lady who sang/screeched Lithium. She was kind of awesome. I liked the first girl with the almost porn star name (Storm Large..really?) and the one from Austin who I think is named Patrice. I am far too lazy to go look them up. Of the guys..hmmm..the aussie was hot and the last guy was really the only standout for me. It looks like the women are slightly stronger so far.
and angie, I am sooo with you on being embarrassed for them. It started for me when that awful Jamie whatever his name was who had that 'How do you talk to an Angel?' song and sang it on 90210 or Melrose and sucked...I was humiliated for him and ever since then I cringe when people perform poorly on tv, especially when they're really earnest about it. Just sad.

I kinda fast-forwarded through most of the performances. Maybe I would have given some of them more of a chance if I knew them better, like through an audition process.

Anyway, nobody really stuck out. I didn't really like the cover of Lithium.

I only caught from "Piece of My Heart" on, so I only got to see the recaps of all but the last 3. "Roxanne" dude sucked, & while it sounded like "Rebel Yell" guy was just making random noises through most of the lyrics he did have a great stage presence. One thing I noticed from the little bit I saw-it seemed like too many performers were trying to put on an act rather just get on stage & do what they do, it just didn't seem natural. Some of the chicks had some awesome voices though-except for Goth chick singing Evanessence, she was horrible in the sound bite I heard.

Another thing-how annoying is Tommy Lee? Just the one thing I saw him do made me want to beat the crap out of him. After the last guy performed, he picks up the mic & says, "Dude, can you say rock star?" Then, I'm guessing for dramatic effect, drops the mike on the table & throws his hands up as if to say, "The Rock God has spoken." Ugh.

The pool of talent this year is way deeper than last years group. Ryan Star is an easy vote of he kinda sucked, and the younger looking guy that went near the end is an easy vote off....maybe the russian chick too. But after week 3 this is going to be very intense. So many of them are just sooo good.

Question, how did Tommy Lee age 25 years in the past 3 years?

Did anyone else notice, every time the camera panned to the non-performing contestants, Storm Large was the one they featured? Do you think she was being over enthusiastic on purpose to be on camera, or is she just a ham who thinks everyone is looking at her all the time anyway? By the end of the episode I was hoping she would be first to be eliminated.

I think that Supernova's going to get a female lead singer. I think the ladies had 4 of the 5 best performances.

I played the Lithium performance over and over in my office today. Luckily, I drew the short straw and am the only one in for this short week!

Ok I got to watch it yesterday afternoon. That Dilana chic had a very strange voice. I cannot put my finger on what she sounds like, and I am not sure if I liked her or not yet. I did like Storm...I thought she did a good job. Hated the Roxanne guy...that was a disaster.

That dude shot himself in the foot singing a Duran Duran song. What was he thinking? I didn't like his cover of Yellow either, but how can they fault him on song choice when Coldplay isn't exactly "rock and roll" either? The other two (Chris and Phil) just bought themselves another week or two. Neither of them have the singing chops to front this band. Phil sounded like he was whining through the song, and Chris does more posing than actual singing.

I'm with you zoobabe..in fact, I'll bet one or both of them is back in the bottom 3 next week and I would not be at all surprised to see Chris go. He is pretty though, too bad he can't really sing.
After seeing some of the house stuff on last night's show, I hope they shift the focus a little more and we get to see more of it on the broadcasts (my computer is crap to try to watch the stuff available online). I really enjoy watching the song selection and prep process.
I don't have any favorites yet, but I do agree with the poster who said the women look a little stronger.

Doesn't the band (Supernova) pick all the songs that the singers have to choose from? So how can they give people crap for a bad song choice? I don't get it.

I'm loving Dilana; she reminds of Marianne Faithful but with more control of her voice. I thought Patrice (Somebody to Love) and Jill (Piece of My Heart) were really good, too.

I hated Storm. Her voice was fine but she was too over-the-top and theatrical during the whole show (not just during her own performance). She was annoying.

I don't get why some of these people were picked... like Jenny (How You Remind Me), Zayra (Bring Me to Life), Chris (Roxanne) or Phil (Cult of Personality). Out of 25,000 auditions, these were the best? I also don't understand why everyone went crazy over Lukas. I didn't think he sounded that great.

PS: Does anyone else think that Gilby looks a little like Lauren Graham?

the band picks the songs for night one; the bottom three pick their own songs for night two. i imagine they have to pick those songs ahead of time, so they can practice and be ready, since they're not supposed to know they're in the bottom until brooke tells them they are.
