View Full Version : Emmy Nominations - Right or Wrong?

I was really holding out for three nominations in particular, and not one of them happened:
Lauren Graham - Gilmore Girls - Lead Actress in a Comedy Series - shall we start the debate again about whether she would be getting the nominations if GG was entered in the Drama category?
Kelly Bishop - Gilmore Girls - Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series - I've grown up with this woman - she was the mom on Dirty Dancing!!!
But these snubs we're used to...it's this one I can't get over:
Not Henry - Supporting Actor in a Drama Series - HOW??? FakeHenry/NotHenry was SO good, nobody knows his real name!!!!!

It just adds to the continued GG heartbreak. First up - we had a rough season with Luke and Lorelei not clicking properly, then we had the ghastly season finale, add to that the loss of our writers/creaters and top it all off with yet another Emmy snub. <sniff> :(
Oh, I am so fired up about these bullshit nominations. I think they are terrible. The new voting system was supposed to make things better but I think the nominations are worse than ever.
Ok, here's a list of just a few of the ballot's glaring ommissions:
1) Hugh Laurie - Lead Actor, Drama
How he did not get a nomination, I'll never understand. Seriously. Never. I will go to my grave pissed off about this. He limps, he speaks with a PERFECT American accent, he's moving, he's funny, he's convincingly brilliant, he's...he's...FUCKING PERFECT in this role. I just don't get it.
2) No John Krasinski or Rainn Wilson or Jenna Fischer from The Office in Best Supporting Actor/Actress Categories
Again, they are perfect in their beautifully written roles.
3) No Lost as Best Drama Series.
Wha?
4) No Lauren Graham for Best Actress for Gilmore Girls
I think the show's best days are behind it and last season was terribly uneven but still, she should get a nomination at least once. That show wouldn't work without her. I mean, the other ladies are fine, but those shows could be done with other actresses, Gilmore Girls couldn't.
5) No acting nominations for the cast of Scrubs
Easily the funniest cast on TV - and yes, I'm including The Office cast in that.
Um, I'm trying to think of something the Emmy's didn't fuck up...I'll get back to you.

They did manage to nominate President Pussy . . . I've never felt such a range of disgust for a character as I did for him and his repulsive yet expressive wattle.

I read somewhere (in the internet wilderness), that Faux Henry Gale was nominated for best guest actor in a dramatic series. I guess he wasn't on enough to be considered a supporting player.
I can't believe Jason Lee wasn't nominated for My Name Is Earl.
And I can't believe the nominations Two and a Half Men got. It was nominated for Best Comedy and both Charlie Sheen and Duckie from Pretty in Pink were nominated. That show is such a sitcom cliche. There is nothing funny or innovative about it.
The only nomination I was really excited about was Kathi Griffin. YOU GO, you strong black woman!

I don't think so, I know the guy that plays Desmond was nominated for best guest actor, but not Faux Henry.

Oops, you are right. Got my Losties confused. I guess I will have to give up all my hatch privileges.

No noms for CSI either... and I am with you all in shock that Lost was robbed in the main cats.
Ok, after some deep breathing exercises and ingesting enough Klonopin to tranquilize a fucking Clydesdale, I think I am ready to extend some thanks to those fucktard Emmy voters.
1) Thank you for nominating House for best drama. While I will never, ever forgive you for snubbing Hugh Laurie, the fact that the show received a nomination has stopped me from driving out to LA and personally - PERSONALLY! - slashing all of your tires. Which is good because, have you seen gas prices these days?
2) Thank you for not nominating Desperate Housewives. Let's just lay it out there: the show is not good. It has not been good since the pilot. It is no where near one of the top five shows (drama or comedy) on television. And, while Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman kind of rock, their roles are not well-written enough to merit nominations. And the sooner Teri Hatcher, Nicolette Sheridan and ESPECIALLY Eva Longoria go away, the better. Thank you for potentially expediting this process.
3) Thank you for nominating The Office for best comedy and Steve Carell for best actor. The show is, hands down, the funniest scripted comedy on TV and, IMHO, even better than the BBC version. Yeah, I said it. What? You wanna make something of it, redcoat?
4) Sweet shit on a candlestick thank you for not nominating The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno. This. Show. Is. Not. Funny.
5) Thank you for nominating Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. Besides the fact that the show is hilarious, this nomination is deserved because it now clears the way for Kathy to attend the ceremony, which means that we'll get to hear the gossip about it. I. Can't. Wait.
6) Thank you for nominating Lisa Kudrow for The Comeback. I don't care that it was canceled because, frankly, the show wasn't as good as she was. Still, even with a mediocre show, her comedic chops are some of the best in the business and deserve to be lauded at every opportunity.
7) Lastly, thank you for every Arrested Development nomination. I would have liked to have seen even more nominations for the show's talented cast (especially for my personal fav, Tony Hale) but I'll take what I can get.
So there you have it, I guess the news isn't all bad and the Emmy voters deserve some credit for not fucking things up as badly as they could have.
But next year, Emmy voters, pull your heads out of your asses, Mmmmkay? Kisses!

jelliepair, fucktard is a lovely contraction of everyone's favorite road rage insult "FUCKING RETARD!!!" Or is that just me? At any rate, urban dictionary has the lowdown for you. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fucktard, definition #2 being one of my favorites.

I think I am partial to this definition:
#11. Fucktard
A leotard with a hole in the crotch instead of snaps so you can get some quick in and out action between ballet performances.
Gives me a nice mental picture...
I now have a new word to degrade the slime that encounters my daily rath. Its a good day.
