First of all, I think I love Myles. He's kind of awesome. Second, when they showed the airplane in the ocean, are we to assume someone put the airplane there? Besides the fact that the one hairy dude swears the pilot isn't who they say it is, the front half of the plane landed on the island, right? And the pilot got sucked out by the monster? Third, I hate when they make Jack (et all) stupid just for the sake of the plot, like the big reveal at the end. When Jack and Kate got the guns away from the two baddies, why didn't they demand to know what their primary reason for being there was? That's the one thing about this show that's bothered me since the beginning; in order to keep the whole thing mysterious, the characters don't ask the questions that any sane human being would be asking... over and over again.

It never fails on this show... when Locke had Ben at gunpoint, demanding answers... then asked about the smoke monster... I experienced a split second of delerious anticipation, sat up on the edge of the couch, thinking "finally... an answer to one of the big mysteries!" And then... no answer! Aaaarrggghh!
Jamp, I second the Myles love. When he feigned excitement for Sayid ("OMG! You're the survivors of Flight 815!"), I rolled.

It's interesting to see flashbacks of the "rescuers" instead of our Losties. And no flashforwards this week.
That photo of Ben looked fairly recent - but then again who knows how old he really is since the island can mess with the aging process (see Richard).
Loved the look on Sawyer's face when Locke showed him the gunshot wound on his chest.
So - does the cabin hide and only appear to those it wants to see it? Did Locke not see it when he ran into Hurley in the woods? It was right there. But he acted surprised last night when Hurley mentioned the cabin.

the whole showing the dead bodies on tv thing would never happen in real life. that part was annoying to me.
jamp - yes the pilot landed on the island. he was eaten by the polar bear when jack & charlie were there.
when ben shot charlotte i was like "holy shit!" and then she had a damn vest on. i didnt really understand how all those people were linked (and i still dont really) but i am interested to find out why they are all after ben. i'm guessing it had to do with dharma since char found that polar bear in the desert with the dharma collar on....
when myles was in the boys room - was that ecko's brother's room? they kept showing the boys picture but i didnt know who it was.... anyone have an idea? i figured with the drugs in the room that it was him....

Oh and one more thing - if Miles can talk to the dead - he could have a field day with that whole pit o'Dharma people.
Anyone have any thoughts on the dharma polar bear in Tunisia?

They do in other countries - and I didn't get the sense that guy was in the U.S. I thought he was on some Island in the caribbean.

Yeah - I'm leaning towards these people all being Dharma related.

I don't think it was Ecko's brother since it was pretty clear that he grew up entirely in a small African village where he died. That house didn't fit. But - I doubt that is the last we'll hear of that boy.

As long as he stays away from Niki and Paulo's graves. I don't think I could listen to either of them again, even if it is posthumously!

Pek... I think my fragile little mind just exploded with your last post. But, now that I think about it, they were lingering on those pictures of the boy just a little too long. I am going to have to watch the episode again!

I didn't like this episode as much as the first one this season. It reminded me a little too much of the first episode with the Tailies. I wanna see my favorite characters, not a bunch of new people, although they are kind of interesting and I am intrigued to find out how they are all connected and what they are doing there. I can't support the love for Myles. He was bugging me like crazy. I don't like him at all.
As an archaeologist I can tell you, and Len would probably back me up here, that you would never find an artifact so quickly at a dig. That Dharma collar Charlotte dug up next to the polar bear seemed to come to light a little too quickly. If it was that close to the surface it would have already been found by the other diggers. Or, it was planted there for some reason. I doubt how quickly it was found really has any significance and it was probably just to save time but as someone who should know, it just irked me.

Ben had to be lying about not knowing about the smoke monster, right? The Dharma suburbia had lost thingies around the perimeter to keep out the smoke monster, didn't it? Those thingies that made Mikhail foam at the mouth and we thought he was dead. But he wasn't, of course.
Best line of the night
Locke - If I still had a kidney, I'd be dead right now.

You are probably right, angiemarie. I forgot about the electro-fence. Besides, Ben knows everything! My fave line of the night was when Sawyer was trying to convince Locke to kill Ben and pointed out that Ben had probably already outsmarted them; they would just have to wait to figure out how. So true!

i was thinking that, too. but then someone on another board pointed out that when naomi landed, she told the losties that the plane had already been found with all the bodies in it.
maybe some of them could have been flashbacks and some flash-forwards?
another interesting theory that i heard is maybe the freighter 4 were originally supposed to be on the plane with the losties and that's why this random group was sent to the island. we already know that frank (scruffy guy) was supposed to be the pilot.
this show makes my head hurt-but i luv it so.

Babeblue - Very interesting theory about the freighter 4. That would explain why the one guy started crying when he was watching TV and saw the plane at the bottom of the ocean.
I wonder if Juliette gets off the island... she wouldn't be counted as one of the Oceanic 6 since the wasn't on the plane.

They were definately all flashbacks. Each one started with something about the 815 crash. Daniel was watching it on the news, Myles was listening to coverage on the radio when he pulled up in front of the house, Charlotte found the newspaper in the desert, and of course scruffy guy (whatever his name is) was watching it on TV too.

I don't if you guys caught this or if it even has significance but someone at work pointed out that the guy who went to see Hurely at the institution was the same guy who recruited Naomi in last night's episode. I am so unobservant, I didn't even notice.

I am just getting irritated with all this constant new info and questions when they haven't even answered old freakin questions! Shit I had forgotten that Ben had shot Locke and that Walt came and talked to him. I hate everyone of the new people. That first dude that fell out of the copter is ugly. He's scrawny and ugly. The Miles dude is just WTF? he uses a dust buster to interact with the freakin dead? And Charlotte is a bitch. The old hairy drunk is confusing. Its all confusing. How many more times can Ben get beaten up before his face just falls off? Get back to the original characters and stop making me think!

Cherie, sweetie, maybe Lost isn't the show for you. You only get one answer for every 100 questions the show brings up. And they love to introduce new, boring characters so they have someone to kill off later in the season.

Well lost is described by the writers, and producers as a "mystery show". So naturally there is going to be lots of MYSTERY. It’s kind of like crying about night being so DARK, or rush-hour being so CROWDED. Don’t mean to attack cherie personally but I just thought that might help put things in perspective.

Also, we have until season 6 to be shrouded in mystery. The creator of lost (on New Year’s eave 2006) said that was the day he finally figured out in his head just what the hell is happening on the island. Up until then he was just sort of “winging it”. After last years finally he sat down with ABC and came up with a story outline that would wrap up the show in 2010. Which is kind of cool because now we know that we realy will get answers and a proper story arch that will make each episode from hear on out just that much more significant.

Hey there stupid! I only recently started watching Lost. As in this past Thanksgiving when someone gave me Season 1 &2. I was hooked immediately. I love this show even as frustrating as it is. Probably because it is. But that doesn't mean I'm not gonna bitch about it now and then. I love my Hubby too but that doesn't mean he doesn't irritate me now and then and here we have a place where we can talk about the things we like and the things we don't. Don't worry I still love the show. Just needed to vent a little. If you stick around long enough you'll see us all doing it. Then you'll have a little perspective also.;)

You’re right. Didn’t mean to be rude. I’m sure Ill be venting about it soon too because it looks like Michael is coming back. Two seasons of him running around the jungle yelling “MY SON, MY SON!” was irritating enough. I was happy to see him leave in season 2. I hope Walt kills him with one of those telepathic kamikaze birds.

No offense taken. I reread what I wrote and it sounds pretty harsh. Thats whats so great about this show. It really stirs the emotions! And I agree about Michael! Waaaaaalllltttt! And when he shot Ana Lucia and Libby I wanted to kill him. Even though I couldn't stand Ana Lucia! I don't think theres ever been a show that has affected me this way! LOL!

Great discussion here. :) 2 new things:
1- my fave line, from Locke: "I saw Walt in the jungle, BUT HE WAS A LOT BIGGER." for some reason that just tickled me pink. It was like, LOL writers... we know he was a lot fucking bigger, you weirdos.
2- I am now taking bets on Sayid being one of the "Oceanic 6." Someone has to fly the copter off the island, right? ;)
(I felt so smart when I figured that out, so please feel free to congratulate me on my genius. It's the only Lost theory of mine that has ever made the slightest bit of sense!!)

Remember Kate isn’t in prison. Which means she is not part of the six because she is still in hiding. So that means there are at least seven that get off the island. And Desmond said in his flashes that Clair and Aaron fly away in the helicopter. So unless they die I would bet they are included. Would Aaron count as one of the oceanic six since he was not technically listed as a passenger on the Oceanic flight manifest? Probably.

Isn't it possible that Kate works out some kind of parole deal? Ya know, x months on scary twisted island = prison time, so you're free to go? I don't think the fact that she's not in prison directly leads to the conclusion that nobody knows she made it off the island therefore she doesn't count as one of the 6.
Also, I should just say I think the whole "Oceanic 6" thing is a complete red herring - I think it was a way for the Lost producers to get us to fixate on something with a fixed outcome (Ok, if there were 6, and we know Jack and Kate make it off, who else?) but my gut tells me it's not as cut-and-dried as "6 make it off, so who are they?" - there are too many unknowns, like you said above, does Aaron count if he wasn't on the manifest? If Juliet makes it off, are they counting her or not since she wasn't on the plane? And aren't we all assuming that the "Oceanic Six" refers to the number of people getting off the island?? What if it refers to the Six people who got off the island and then won the lottery together - maybe 30 people get off the island and only 6 win the lottery. I don't really think that happens, I'm just saying.....it's Lost, and we're starting to believe what they tell us!

That’s a cool idea. And I hope you’re right about being thrown for a loop. The last thing I want is for the show to become predictable. Which makes me a hypocrite because all I do is think about new theories and what might happen next. But this show never lets me down on terms of originality and suspence.
