How much of a geek are you? Here's a fun little quiz (http://www.innergeek.us/geek-test.html)-- and by "little" I mean frickin' HUGE and it'll take forever to finish, but heck, you're probably at work... what else do you have to do?
I scored 15%, which makes me very happy. That makes me a healthy, well-adjusted heterosexual... wait... wrong quiz (http://forums.tvgasm.com/showthread.php?t=57)! Most of my geekiness comes from knowing a little about computers, correcting grammar mistakes and playing games (I love logic problems and PC games like The Longest Journey or Return to Mysterious Island). No D&D or Star Wars costumes for me. But I might be willing to dress up in Firefly/Serentiy garb if I thought I'd get to have a little one-on-one time with any of the boys in the Whedonverse. ;) (That comment probably just bumped me up to 16%!)

33 and 1/3. I am the long playing record of geekdom. That alone earns me an extra point.

Yes, but then you'd be 34 1/3 and that wouldn't sound as cool!

But that would be made up for by my new avatar. :)

I got 13.6%. I think it was my love of all things X Files and Whedon that helped me, but the fact that I know nothing about computers hurt. I wanted to score higher!!

23.66864% - most of my points were in the calculator / math type questions with major weaknesses in sci-fi TV and gaming...I'm surprised there was no question about owning and knowing how to use an abacus, because, well, I do and can, and I think that's odd.

22.87%, but I lied. I was disappointed that Millennium freaks got no extra points, but I said I'd do both Scully AND Mulder, so maybe that helped.

3.35% - only because I watch Jeopardy regularly and think I can win, and because I used to be a historian. I'm pretty shocked, maybe if I take it again I could score higher.

11.04536%, Geekish tendencies. Ok, is it bad that I got a lot of answers right on "The World Series Of Pop Culture" last night (VH1), but I don't know what SCA, a yurt, or who Steve Jackson is??
Chris
07-11-2006, 08:14 PM
14.59566% for me! Which is exciting because I definitely went to math and science high school and everyone thought I was so dumb and only got in because admissions was trying to pull kids in from the corn fields instead of the rich suburbs. Which actually is totally true but whatever. Suck it, Class of '05 geeks! I can hold my own!

I kicked ass last night! "Lyrics of the 80s" was my forte (and "Child Stars"). And it's not a bad thing. I think it makes us normal. I would be surprised if anyone from tvgasm didn't do well on that show since so many of the questions are about TV.
PS: What the hell is a yurt, anyway?

A yurt is a portable dwelling with a round side and a slightly sloped conical roof. Nomadic people from central Asia have used them as homes for ages. Yurts are a 30 BILLION dollar industry.:D But seriously folks... Yurts now seem to be a way for trustafarians with biodeisel in their Mercedes's to get back to nature.

Thanks for the "yurt" def LQ. And jampony-I kicked some ass last night too! This is the kind of geek I am-watching all by myself with no distractions, reading the question so I can answer before the contestant & then giggling with delight when I'm right. Yeah, my parents are proud. But I do hope they do another round so I can get a team & try out-although I don't know many people who have so much useless knowledge about pop culture-and will admit it-as me. They waste their time on trivial things like computers, technology, careers, family, things like that.

Um, Hello? We could be "Team TVgasm". I watched some of that last night too. I also smugly answered questions before the contestants and patted myself on the back. Hey, my arms are long, ok? She's got Betty Grable eyes? Punk Rocker, please! My weaknesses are 1)shitty television 2)I guess that's it, shitty 90's TV is my only weakness. Shitty to me = Will&Grace, Frasier, Everybody Loves Ray, Friends, Law & Order anything, any show made in the 90's besides Unsolved Mysteries.;)

That's where I would suck for sure. But I think I know 70s TV pretty well. And most decades of music. But politics and current events. Pffft... forget about it. I'm lucky I know who the vice president is. That Quayle... he's such a card. It's potato. Potato! Dumbass. ;)
I think all the tvgasm readers could kick ass on this show. Everyone should apply (of course we'd all be accepted because we're all brilliant, funny, and gorgeous and how could they say "no" to any of us?) then we could all play against each other!
Hey! We've got three threads going on about this show. It must be a hit!

Seriously, it's a real holiday (http://www.holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/July/geeknessday.htm). Well, sort of. But I'll take it! Until this came along, the only other holidays I felt connected to were St. Patrick's Day and Casimir Pulaski Day and Pulaski day isn't even national.

Oooh! I loved her in The Birds! (Someone really needs to create the "tongue-in-cheek" smiley face. But if they're not careful it might just turn out looking like a vulgar but semi-enjoyable sexual act.) And while they're at it, how about an "I know that was a corny joke, but you still laughed out loud when you read it" smiley face for you? :)
