Million Dollar Password

I thought we had a thread for just "Game Shows" but couldn't find one, so this will do nicely for my post.

The GSN had a mini-marathon yesterday showing old "Password" shows in celebration of the new "Password" airing last night on ABC. I totally got into it. I loved this show as a kid and viewing all the old ones was great. That Betty White is the best at game shows. She truly is a TV icon. Her hubby, Allen Ludden was the first host of the show.

Did anyone else watch the new "Password" ?
I did and I was kinda disappointed. Maybe I'm just too 'old school' to appreciate the new version. It was just too fast-paced and flashy for me. Not at all what I expected. Maybe that is the way game shows have to be nowadays to get any viewers. It seems since "Who Wants to Be a Millianaire" all game shows are repeating it's format.... the music, the flashy lights, the 'money' steps, and Regis. This new "Password" was so intense and the audience & music was so loud, it was hard for the players to hear the clues. I was extremely disappointed, as I said and I think I'll watch something else instead..........

I don't think Betty White will like it either.

Actually - I had quite a different reaction. I really enjoyed the fast pace. I was worried it would drag out the way they drag out Deal or No Deal and 1 vs 100, but they got through two complete games in one night without any cliffhangers over commercial. I loved that!

I loved Password growing up - I'd watch it when I was home from school sick. I'd always look away when they told the password and then see if I could guess.

I was really delighted that Neil Patrick Harris was on the first show - and he was SOO good at it. I gather Regis does not know he's gay since he made that comment about Neil hitting on the female contestant.

Regis was my only problem with the show. He scares me.

I was missing some parts of the old password, like when the host would give a clue to see if it could be guessed.

I do believe Regis knows Neil is gay, he was making a joke.

I liked it overall...NPH was a great guest star. Rachael Ray sucked. And yes I am biased since I can't stand the ^&%&^@, but seriously, she was not good.

NPH was awesome at the game. I loved how he giggled when the clue was "pot".

I love Regis' grumpy old ass. I think I will only watch when there is a celebrity I want to see. Otherwise its just boring. NPH was hilarious and I noticed the giggle when "pot" was mentioned too. Not to mention when the guy said "chit"!!! RR did suck. She was too nervous. Plus I hate her new hair. That has nothing to do with this show, just thought I'd share.

I miss Allen Luden and loved when his sweetie Betty was on the panel. They were so cute together.

Luckily RR wasn't on often enough to officially grate on my nerves. I do get cracked up when the clue giver uses the word.

I had a password game when I was younger. We wore that game out and practically knew all the words by heart because they were in the same order.

I watched again last night and I liked it better this time around. Rosie O'Donnell was good at this game but Tony Hawk was more nervous than the contestants.

..... and I need to retrack my previous statement in my first post. Betty White does approve and .....

I love Betty White and I can not wait. I do agree with you Chooch, Tony Hawk was so nervous but I thought it was cute he practiced with the game you buy in the store.
