While deleting some spam threads, I accidentally deleted the "How's the weather" thread. (Go ahead, you can all point and laugh at the stupid mod)

So until someone can figure out how to undelete the old thread, I've started a new one.

Btw, it's 72 degrees and sunny with a nice breeze here in Pittsburgh.

Aww Angie - I wish I knew how to get it back. I'm hoping Kronus can figure it out. Maybe he's off on the weekend?

Maybe we can use this a clean slate for all new better weather for everyone?

Wow.... that is mucho power you have..... I know you will use it wisely when I ask you to delete the 115 degree wether I have been dealing with the past week. I am counting on you as my brain has actually started turning into human jerky. my air conditioner is almost running constantly to chill my house to a balmy 80 degrees.

Please any of you with a gigantic freezing machine.. point it to southern Arizona and help a sister out.

Point that gigantic freezing machine to So Cal too. :D

63 and thunderstorms on and off here..... can you delete that for me Ang?.......... or make it 75 with a slight breeze?

giffordsaz
06-25-2008, 04:06 PM
OMG.. make it stop.. and I saw lightening over my mountains this afternoon.. which menas no freaking rain because the humidity is at about 3%.. it just mens fire.... yeah fire.. ****ingfire starters.....

if you want to see what we are dealing with put 85338 into your weather zip code search and take a look. I guess i know where the devil spends his summers.

angiemarie
06-26-2008, 08:47 AM
But it's a dry heat, so that's not as bad, right?

It's going to be 88 and muggy here today. I was getting so spoiled by all of the mids 70's days we've been having the past few weeks.

giffordsaz
06-26-2008, 11:51 AM
Yes Angie, it is a real dry heat.. just like a blow dryer on a windy day.. but the temp is not jacked for humidity at all until monsoon season. and I actually have no sun today as the 1000+ acre fire 10 miles from my house is blotting it out. Lightening storm last night. We get those too. There is not enough moisture in the air to rain so the bolts of electricity just strike the dry desert and we catch on fire. And all the drop planes took off last week for Cali to put out wime country so we have the trucks on the ground trying to contain it.....

Why am i so bitter about this... i don't understand.. it is just mother nature after all!?

The weather here has been GORGEOUS. Not typical for this time of year. We spent all weekend outdoors, and really enjoyed our time at the gay pride parade yesterday. Which, by the way, is the greatest parade of all time.

I hate the wind.

SNOW. SNOW. SNOW AND MORE SNOW.

I had to scrape 2 inches off the car when I got out of work, then I stopped at the grocery store and had to scrape windows again when I got out. Then I had to scrape them again when I went to pick up my son. Plus, I had to shovel the walk!

It absolutely poured here yesterday and was so ugly, damp and depressing all day. DaddySaurus couldn't take BabySaurus for her walk and she was beside herself. We all went to Petco to look at the fish instead, which she loves, but she was too cooped up and we paid for it last night-a very fussy, unhappy baby. It's still ugly today but not raining and the two of them are out walking at this very moment. Yay, happy baby!

Pretty clear today, but it's cold, it was probably high 30s this morning, and that ended up feeling warm because of the way it's been for the last few days. Seeing frost outside is never a good feeling when you wake up

We actually got snow last night! The kind that sticks and makes the world all slickery and white...not just the flurries that make the roads icy. And the weather has finally warmed to the point where you can step outside and not think you.re dying. We had a low of 18 last night...finally above zero!

19 degrees and windy, but the sun is shining (kind of!) We had snow yesterday, so I am home instead of making a treck to the big city to purchase a toilet and some other goodies for my bathroom redo.

It's 18 degrees, been snowing/sleeting for the last 24 hours. Reports are that it should end close to midnight. Ugh. Not looking forward to digging the car out in the morning. I hope any of you that got the pure ice all day are OK and have power. On a more positive note, everything looks beautiful and I love the still, eerie atmosphere in what is normally a busy, sometimes loud, urban neighborhood.

We finally got more snow! I love snow and the way it looks. But unfortunately, it's covered in a layer of ice.

I thought my dog would sink into it but instead, it's like a delayed reaction, he steps on it, then his feet break through the crust, poor guy. can't help but laugh, though.

Supposed to go up to the 40s today, so i guess it'll all melt and then re-freeze overnight.

59 this morning, 80's this afternoon. After last week's cold snap it's nice to get back to nearly normal. However, I need it to be cold this weekend so we can go see the manatees at Blue Springs.

Now if the wind would just quit blowing.

All the sidwalks are icy, which I hate so much. I am always so scared of falling. BabySaurus is getting cabin fever. We need to hit the "soft play area" at the mall tomorrow or she will revolt! Yeppers it does BC. We get hail. Lots and lots of hail. It is really bad for your roofs and your cars.

TinkerbellAPixie
02-11-2009, 08:27 AM
We could use a little rain - it's so dry here that it's now officially brush fire season. So, let me amend my earlier request - we need RAIN - but not lightning. Lightning would be disastrous.

But other than brush fires, tornadoes and hurricanes - I highly recommend Florida. It's 80 today, blue skies and beautifulness.

brunettechic
02-11-2009, 09:28 AM
The wind is seriously awful today. Obviously not as bad as our 100mph and up winds yesterday, but it's making clean up kind of suck. Plus, a friend of mine's car was totaled just from the tennis ball size hail. Thank goodness she wasn't in it, but now she needs rides. Sigh...

AND get this. My Dad is a fire fighter. They were in the middle of fighting a grass fire when the sirens went off. They were like... "what the hell is that?" Then they got radioed to go back to the station, but they couldn't very well leave A FIRE. So they ended up staying until it was out. Too dangerous... I'm ready for him to retire.

Any more weird stories and I'll update you guys. It's never dull around here during tornado season, unfortunately.

I'm sure it's just the Alaskan in me, but 2 feet of snow really doesn't sound like a big deal...you'd think the northeastern cities/states would be kind of, ya know, used to the white stuff - it does fall every year people! But of course it's hitting the highly populated east coast so the rest of the country must read about the flight delays and power outages every time it happens. When I was in high school we had a blizzard that came with a wind gust of 103 mph and knocked over a shipping container - bet you don't remember reading about that, because not enough people lived there for anybody to care :)

Mel that is awful. I hate driving in dust storms.

Yesterday was foggy as all get out, but not too bad otherwise. This morning it is ice, ice, ice. I went out to the garage to feed the dog and about took a header off the back porch steps - thank goodness there is a porch post that my shoulder smacked into otherwise it would not have been pretty. Once in the garage, I filled the dogs bowl, grabbed the bag of ice melt and stepped out of the garage, only to have the handle on the bag break, which fell and hit the bowl of dog food which went flying into the air and clocked me in the forehead and dumped ice melt and dog food down my shirt.

Now it is snowing. It is going to be a long day.

Ok this ended up longer than it started, but I swear it's hypothetically related to the weather.

It's 35 degrees out, and I know a lot of places are colder but I'm in Southern Georgia. So I get it in my head that ice cream sounds good and I'll treat my son on our way to grocery shop (did you know that Alaskans eat more ice cream per person than any other state? I think my brain is hard-wired to want ice cream when it's cold). So we drive through McDonald's, "order when you're ready" "I'd like two ice cream cones please" "we don't have any ice cream right now". What??

First of all, how about "I'm sorry, but we don't have any ice cream right now"?? Secondly, do they not have any because so many other people had the same idea and McDonald's wasn't ready for it? Is this a common phenomenon? Or how about "I'm sorry, our ice cream machine is broken, would you like a milkshake instead?"

So, we went to Sonic, where the nicest fast food employee in the world works. As in "Hi, welcome to Sonic, this is Robert speaking, how may I help you?" so I order a Butterfinger blast, and he says "Would you like any cheese sticks or jalapeno poppers with that?" and when I laugh a little and say no (as in, Butterfinger ice cream and jalapeno poppers, what am I pregnant?) he laughs too and says "yeah, that probably wouldn't go together too well. Please pull around and we'll have that blast ready for you." I pull up and pay and he asks if I'd like to donate $1 to Jerry's kids, and he's just so nice I say yes, and somewhere in there he notices I'm planning to split the treat with my son in the backseat, and offers an empty cup and second spoon so I can just give my son a bit in a cup instead of passing it back and forth. And when he gives me my change, he looks me in the EYE, and says "thank you for choosing Sonic, have a great day."

I'm not kidding you, Robert at Sonic made my freaking day. I would adopt him.

You should type that note up and send it to his boss. Seriously. People like that deserve to know how great they are and pooh on the kid at McDonald's with the lousy sense of customer service.

So - I'm here in Orlando freezing my tata's off (and hoping that adds up to lost weight when I go to Weight Watchers on Saturday) and my stupid building has the a/c running. I am typing this with the icicle hanging off my nose since my fingers snapped off 2 hours ago when I was typing a letter.

On the 17th floor where my friends work (I sit alone on the 16th floor where it has to be 20 degrees cooler) they all have space heaters running. Actually - so many of them were running space heaters that they blew a circuit so all the computers were running off battery power and they were all beeping. So they had to call maintenance and Building Management to come up. Building Management got all pissy that they are running space heaters when that is strictly against the policy on our lease.

Meanwhile down on 16 - the a/c is still blowing my bangs around my forehead. I just loving having the windblown look at work.

Eek - my rant just totally negated the happy joy vibe of Pek's post. Can Robert at Sonic come work for our building?

Hey Tink my boss said something about iguanas freezing and falling out of trees down there, lol.

Pekmboyd great story, that always makes my day too. Fast food customer service has gone to S&%t. Working the Wendy's drive thru was my first job and I remember taking pride having the best attitude and doing my best.

Well here in Atlanta it is 18 degrees. Snow is sticking, about a quarter inch. The ice is horrible. I live at the top of a very STEEP hill and have to take another steep hill to get out of my neighborhood. I tried to go to work about 8 and ending up sliding down the hill on my way down, then backwards when I tried to go back up. I can literally hear someone right now trying to get up the hill.

Anyway, I had to park and walk home. It was only about half a mile but i had to walk both steep hills. I am such a baby, I was walking up the hill talking on my phone and crying uncontrollably. :blushing:

My wonderful boyfriend was up and dressed when I got to the house and left to go get my car for me, even though I said to wait, but he didn't want anyone to hit it. Well he slipped and fell on the ice and cut his hand and arm. :(

About noon we went to go get it and passed 6 of my neighbors walking. When we got to my car there were 9 other cars parked around it that could not make it up the hill. Crazy! Anyway, it took 3 attempts and me freakin out but my boyfriend got my car safely snuggled in the garage

I love snow, too, but not necessarily that much, especially since we had a foot earlier this winter. Luckily I don't have too much to shovel and I have an SUV. The dog doesn't like it too much when the snow is higher than he is.

We had a high of 50 today. Guess I'm one of the oddballs that likes winter. I really do prefer snow to the mud and slush that we'll now be trudging through.

i don't have anything againgst mud but i feel uneasy because of the slippery icy roads. they are a pain in the back :>

Wow, you guys lucked out, chooch. I think we got 24 inches in less than 24 hours. It's really pretty, but I'm tired of shoveling for today. I'll dig out the car tomorrow.

Cold! And on top of the 18 inches of snow we got Saturday, tonight through tomorrow we could get another 18-24 inches!

it's snowing here in Wisconsin. We've had snow since I got up (5;30AM). A lot of schools are closed around here. Good day to stay inside and take a long nap with our dogs.

Cold & windy. We had a little snow last night and there's a wind chill of 3degrees. It's nothing like the east coasters have to deal with though. Take care you guys.

More snow expected today and tomorrow. I'm running out of places to shovel it!

Ugh. I'm with you, angie... I'm sick of shoveling. So far today we've gotten over a foot of snow and it's still coming down like gangbusters. :(

About 7 inches when I woke up. Nice hard crust on top, had to shovel a path for the dog. I think it stopped for a bit, then sleeted a bit. Then started snowing again, heavy a few minutes ago. Gotta get out and do more shoveling before it gets too deep. Expecting about 10 more inches, ugh. All my poor bushes, never cleaned them off after the first storm.

Not too bad here(north Texas). Chilly for this time of year though, and they're saying we have 100% chance of snow tonight.(yay! being a northern girl originally i do like the now once in a while) But,WTF?!?!?! It's already snowed 3 times in the past 2 months.I know that's nothing compared to what ya'll are getting, but come on, this is TEXAS Mother Nature, get with the program! lol!

Finally getting some real Nashville weather today - it's currently sunny & 60 degrees. Alas, it shall not last long, so I'm going to enjoy it while I can; and by "enjoy it", of course I mean I'm going to the movies.

It has been snowing non stop for the last 4 hours here in Atlanta. It looks beautiful. And that is saying alot for me. I hate the winter, snow and ice. My job is holding us hostage. Oh no wait, they did just say I could go home at 3 when I get off at 4. How kind.

We have sunshine today!

It started raining on Sunday and rained non-stop until sometime early Thursday am, when it turned to snow. This morning the sun is finally shining, the snow is melted and things are drying up.

Now we're getting the rain here! Thunderstorms maybe and flooding. Everything was just drying out, too, after the snow finally melted. At least it's not too cold. Rain all weekend, I think.
