So it was revealed and ended with a kiss... what do we all think? Was this too early? Where will this end up?

We'll get another whole season of her deciding what to do and then the big season 2 finale will be her deciding she loves him, but he'll be dating someone else. So that'll take another season.

They are the new Rachel and Ross.

I'm not gonna lie. I thought it was hottttt. I think they have the best sexual chemistry of any TV couple right now. Way better than stupid Meredith and Metrosexual McDreamy on Grey's.

I just re-watched it (Bless you DVR gods!), and was totally blown away by the ending (even though it was , as you say, a post-modern Ross and Rachel).

The writing was top-notch: sensitive but awkward, with all those starts and stops that are true-to-life and sometimes forgotten in TV writing (Helllloooo, Gilmore Girls, Dawson's Creek and any other hyper-literate, dialogue-laden shows?)

Oftentimes, comedies don't get their due, acting-wise. I thought this was quite good.

You know, I didn't think I would like The Office at all when I first watched it, now it's one of my favorite shows.

I absolutely LOVE Jim and Pam. Like, embarrassing levels of love.

Amazing, amazing finale last night. The acting was just amazing.

About the Jim and Pam = Ross and Rachel idea, I think it is definitely valid. But, with a show in a documentary-style format, I'm not sure how feasible the dragging out of the relationship would be.

Seriously, though, if you're not watching The Office, you should be.

Lyndsay and southernbelle,
Right on! I agree with everything both of you said. I kinda of already said this, but I thought last night's finale was totally romantic and my heart actually skipped a freakin' beat when Jim finally told Pam. Sigh. I know, I'm a dork.

I also agree with Lyndsay that the Ross and Rachel comparison doesn't quite fit. God knows I loved me some Friends, but I never really believed the Ross and Rachel storyline. I never thought JA and DS generated much sexual tension. I just went along with the storyline because I liked the show so much. Now, Jim and Pam on the other hand...I was actually disappointed to learn that Pam is married in real life...TO SOMEONE WHO'S NOT JIM!! WTF, Pam, WTF?

I think I really need to stop watching so much TV.

Lyndsay

Truthfully, I almost cried... Especially when Jim almost cried... It was beautiful!

Oh Lyndsay, I know! When I saw that little tear in Jim's eye, I just lost it. They are my absolute favorite tv couple right now. They make me want to work for Dunder Mifflin.
I also loved Kevin's band video and their hopes that Pam's wedding proves the big break for Scrantonicity.
This show is so well done on every level.

I just saw this. I thought it was really well-done. A lot of us have been waiting for it to happen and it was a good way to end the season. Some call it the new Ross and Rachel, and that may be true, but as long as they don't try and make it last for 12 seasons, we should be OK.

Lots of other good love twists yesterday. Michael's boss really seemed to be heartbroken that he was with another girl and I loved it when Doug got slapped by that cold blonde chick and she walked with a little smile on her face. Great stuff.

Tikilights, I agree. He wrote an amazing finale.

I was glad Jim sacked up and confirmed for Pam how he really feels. I think she knew, but she needed to hear it.

All the Jim and Pam goodness is a given, but my absolute favorite part was Ryan ordering Kelly's drink.

Dang, I missed it. I didn't pay close attention to the tv guide because the Canadian and American channels usually show it at the same time, but I guess because of the "supersizing" we only ended up with Earl (also a fine, fine show). If I had taped the American station, I would have caught them both.

ElectraGlide, I agree, especially Jim's reaction, "So, that's still going on?" The Creed scenes were also hilarious, but the best was the Afghanistanis routine from the beginning of the episode.

The bestest was Creed's recommendation of the "Thursday Split Pea soup" at the soup kitchen!

Close second: The whole "Ladies, gentlemen and the disabled" speech Michael gives.

Close third: Michael not fathoming how a guy in a wheelchair could get a girl that wasn't previously his nurse...

Oh yeah! Haha! I forgot about that. I just love the name Scrantonicity, too. I mean, c'mon, that's just genius. I'm a huge Police fan so that tickled me on multiple levels.

LOVE The Office! Jim, oh baby...why can't he be in my office? Gotta admit I didn't get into the show until I saw "The 40 Year Old Virgin," but now am addicted. Can't wait for summer reruns to catch the ones I missed.

Kevin's band video-awesome. That and his poker game.

"That's what she said."

I just started watching this show (and by that I mean I watched seasons one and two in less than 48 hours) and I'm hooked! I love the relationship between Jim and Pam! I also love the little moments we get with Phyllis, Angela, Oscar, Stanley, Toby, Creed, and Kevin. Those are what truly make this show great.

I LOVE the Office. All the characters are hysterically funny ("Mine says Bushy Beaver" ). The actors are terrific. I adore Jim and Pam and was thrilled to see him finally confess his love to her. I don't see the comparisons to Ross and Rachel though. R&R were, to me, the typical sitcom couple. Jim and Pam are unique. I love that they don't have to speak to know what the other is thinking. The jinx episode was a tribute to that, imo. The basketball episode and the looks they passed, shopping for Michael's party and how much fun they had, the Dundee awards at Chilis. As viewers, see the connection they have, which makes me care about them. A lump formed in my heart as Jim told her.

It's the little subtleties of the show that get me. Angela and Dwight are nutty, but it works. "You won't get a cookie, Dwight." "Why not? What if I want a cookie?" Camera to the Ryan the Temp. His look was classic. That was the funniest moment i've seen on tv in a LONG time.

It's a refreshing show.

I agree bajagal, the best part of the show is the looks people give the camera. I love the way Jim comments on other people just by giving the camera a look. And I love those slightly creepy side glances that Kevin gives the camera. Or how about Dwight's look when he said "Remember on Lost when they met the Others?" ha!

Kelly is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters. I love her relationship with Ryan and when she teased Jan about Michael getting to second base with her. It's interesting how her character has evolved. If you go back to the first few episodes, she was portrayed as more conservative.

It's official. I am an Office-a-holic. And, I'm in recruiting mode. I was searching around the internet for Office clips and I stumbled across some GREAT clips at youtube.com. I'm not talking about lame music videos either, I talking about honest to god clips.

Anyway, if you type in Jim and Pam in the search bar at youtube and select that the results be organized showing the most recent uploads first, you'll find some compilations called "The Story of Jim and Pam" or something like that. There are 15 of them and they trace the relationship between Jim and Pam from the first episode through Casino Night. They're really thorough and a great way to introduce Office neophytes to the show. I highly, highly recommend them to anyone who wants to get into this show before the new season starts.

Now, as the title would suggest, the videos concentrate heavily on the Jim and Pam (aka Jam) dynamic to the detriment of the other characters. Thus, many funny things are left out (like the Michael/Ryan relationship, the Dwight/Angela relationship, the Kelly/Ryan non-relationship relationship, Creed, Kevin, etc., etc.), but it's still a good introduction to one of the shows main plotlines.

So...what are you waiting for? Go!

And I swear I'm not on the NBC payroll. Believe me, I wish.

when i read the list for the emmys in our beloved tvgasm, j-unit and b-side were saying how great the office was. hence, i started watching clips on youtube and the offical "the office" website, and you guys did not fail me. I LOVE THE OFFICE.

and yes, i love the pam-jim relationship. it's how they work together, their dynamic, a duo in the workplace. plus, they're great when torturing dwight.

dwight is my favorite character....its just him, i cant explain it but i laugh at him even when hes not saying anything. i love the jim-dwight conflict. so funny.

You should try catching up on the DVDs. Season 1 is currently available and I think Season 2 should be coming out pretty soon.

In other The Office news, the min-webisodes are current airing! So if you can't get enough of Angela shaking her head in disgust, Oscar being offended by babies dressed as adults, Phyllis being in love with Bob Vance of Vance Refrigeration, and Kevin being Kevin, check out the The Webisodes on The NBC site: http://www.nbc.com/The_Office/

Yay! A convert! I can't wait for the new season to start. I'm so excited to see how they resolve the Pam-Jim-Roy love triangle. From what I've been reading it won't be all smooth sailing for our favorite office lovebirds.

In other Office news, what does everyone think of the Webisodes? I'm kinda "eh" about them so far but I like the concept. It's something to tide us over until the new season and it let's the supporting players have a chance to shine. So far though, I don't think they've been that funny. Enjoyable, but not funny. But, there's only been two so far, so it's probably too early to judge. Oh, and I think Kevin is by far my favorite supporting character. I just find him to be adorable.

Any thoughts?

The new modus operandi of the networks is to commit to three episodes, cutting losses on production for those that tank. That's why Earl and the Office had to scramble, showing repeats while hurrying back into production. Problem is, it kills the audience and the momentum of a new show...

I read somewhere that some of the BBC cast is going to appear in the American Office this season. Not Ricky Gervais, but it should still be interesting. I can't wait for Gareth and Dwight to meet. An immovable object and an unstoppable force.

These are actually run by the actors. Some of them do act in character while others just act like um... the actors. Pam & Angela do great behind the scene blogs and Kevin just acts like Kevin. Dwight got overwhelmed by comments and deleted his profile. Poor Dwight couldn't handle his popularity.

I can't believe how accessible the cast of The Office is to their fans. They are such a fan-friendly show. I hope that doesn't change too much as the show gets more popular, which I'm sure it will this year.

Also worth checking out is www.officetally.com. Lots of good stuff there.

Since this is now the default Season 2 Thread:

If you're on the fence, definitely go buy The Office Season 2 DVD. It's chocked full of extras: commentaries, deleted scenes, PSAs, commercials, webisodes. It's worth it just to watch the deleted scenes since they're just as funny as the stuff that airs. You'll also see story lines that didn't air and you'll find out who really left that joint in the parking lot. So definitely recommended. The commentaries are pretty funny to. Just listened to the commentary for the season finale where everyone stops the commentary to declare their love for Jenna Fisher.

Word. And if you're going to Target to buy the set with Jenna's video blog of Booze Cruise, be sure you get the one with the sticker that says bonus footage of Booze Cruise. I picked up the wrong one and those fools wouldn't let me exchange the open package (the video blog is on youtube now, but still :().
