I was reading the Copygodd's reveiw of Last Comic Standing and since there really isn't much to discuss with that show, one of the things he pointed out was the Geico commercial with Little Richard. Yes, LCS is THAT entertaining. Anyhow, it got me thinking that we need a favorite commercial thread. I have to admit that the DVR is doing a number on my commercial viewing. However, when I do happen to catch one of my shows at their actual time I'm left with little else to do but watch commercials, feed the animals and get cold beers from the fridge. So, what are your favorite TV commercials?
Mine is the Citibank identity theft one with the two old ladies voiced over with a conversation two red necks are having about buying motorcycles with the stolen credit card. I'll even stop the fast forward on the DVR to watch it.

I think we had a favorite commercial thread at some point, but I'm too lazy to look for it. My favorite one right now is the Nextel one with the dots "Can you talk to the dots" "We don't aggravate the dots" "Are you aggravating my dots? Don't you be aggravatin' my dots"

The guy who shows up towards the end of that commerical, eating a piece of cake...wasn't he on Night Court? He looks so familiar.

How about we make the thread: Favorite Commercials We Hate!
This is kinda Anti-Thread but it's a commercial I see on CNN or late, late at night... like a bad informercial wrapped in 30 seconds. It's the worst commercial I've ever seen. Basically, what it is, it's some health care product and the narrator just repeats the same one line over and over and over from an entire 30 seconds. I think they hired Larid as their spokes person. It's like "Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body! Crappy Cream, apply directly to body!" It's just that one line repeated for the full 30 seconds with the name of the product in huge letters and same visual repeated over and over again. I think I repressed the commercial and can't remember it now, but I'm sure I'll see it again.

HA!! i know exactly what commercial u refer to, it's often aired on our local TV news show & I think i've seen it on the Weather Channel---it's for 'Head On', the product that the monotone narrator urgers viewers to 'apply directly to the forehead', 3x in a row. Bizarre. i think it's supposed to b taken 4 headaches, but the strange thing is, it GIVES me a headache instead

That's IT! "Head On, apply directly to the forehead!" Everytime I see that, I'm like.... someone actually paid someone to make that commercial. Or the boss one day was playing with iMovie and made the commercial in his spare time. He was so proud of it and none of the employees wanted to tell him the truth. And now it airs nationally. Now if only he just used a Star Wipe... it would've made it so less amateurish.

I still love that commercial for the credit card that David Spade hawks, the one where the big guy goes after the guy in the yellow shirt who runs screaming like a girl. The screamer is in a car commercial too, the one where he's taking a test drive & starts screaming. I guess I like screamers.
I HATE the new Dr. Z commercials for Chrysler, the guys voice drives me apeshit.

I like the one where a guy sees another person doing something nice, so he in turn does something nice that another person sees and THAT person goes on to do something nice, etc. Makes me smile every time.
I guess I like screamers.
Then do you - like me - love the commercial for that reject college movie where the nerd screams like a girl for 15 seconds? Man, I can't get enough of that - it cracks me up every time. That, coupled with Warren Cheskwick, might just get me to Netflix that movie.

But I think he's treading dangerously close on Heidi territory w/ his 'Auf Weidensen' (sp?) at the end of that one ad...no 1 can quite like Heidi can!

The commercial has been called everything from annoying to mesmerizing. Now the 15-second TV ad for HeadOn, a homeopathic migraine headache remedy, has become a pop culture phenomenon, reports USA Today.
The spot, which is airing on cable and commercial networks from June through August 13, shows a young woman rubbing what looks like a glue stick across her forehead. To further emphasize the point, a bright yellow air is aimed right at her forehead. The female announcer repeats the following three times: "HeadOn. Apply directly to the forehead." Then the announcer says HeadOn is available without a prescription at retailers nationwide. That's it. The commercial violates Rule No. 1 of advertising: It never tells viewers what the product does! It also violates Rule No. 2 in that the production values are cheap and crude--but that, it turns out, is part of its charm.
The ad is so awful it has gone from inside joke to parody with HeadOn rip-offs now seen on YouTube.com. USA Today reports that Rapper Lil Jon has looped it into a musical riff, while "Make," a technophile magazine, has told its readers how to turn it into a ring tone. HoldOn! The makers of HeadOn never intended for this to happen. It's not a joke! They were just trying to create brand awareness, and they have mightily succeeded. Sales are up 50 percent since April. It turns out that HeadOn can't say what the product does since it was challenged by the Better Business Bureau for a previous ad that said the product provides "fast, safe, effective" headache relief. The company didn't have sufficient evidence to prove that. Still, the new ad is working. One viewer told USA Today, The ad "is annoying as hell. It will drive you crazy. But that's what made me take notice of it."

For commercials I hate - any of the new commercials that show people talking casually in their car and then BAM they are in an accident. I know their are a few of them floating around, some for insurance companies, one for a local attorney and some to promote not drinking and driving.
Maybe it's because of my recent accident - but I find them veryyyyyyy upsetting. :(

Sorry, but I totally get this one - if you think you're pregnant and haven't had a chance to run to the store yet, man oh man....you can't function. I couldn't focus on my job ALL DAY. Of course....when I found out I WAS pregnant, my concentration got worse :)
The commercials I hate are anything that wants you to text "joke" to 45454 or "sign" to 29292 to get the joke of the day or the horoscope of the day or the ringtone of the day....dear god, make it stop!

Aww thanks jampony. My car was totaled - the brat who caused the wreck was ok - I was hurt but am on the mend. But it's just like in those commercials you are driving by and everything is normal and then the next moment you're lifting up from an airbag trying to understand what happened.
Which brings me to the other commercials I hate - but only because it's personal. That damned Geico Gekko - bothers the crap out of me. I thought he was darling before and even got Geico (so I could save 15% on my car insurance). After my wreck they were awful to me.
No more cheap insurance for me - I want GOOD coverage - period.

Oh my gosh, I stare in horror every time that one comes on. (They seem to have bought a bunch of time during Sex and the City reruns.) It just goes on and on and on. The best is when they try desperately to make all the medical babble sound casual by having this club girl go "Thank goodness I went to med school!" (or whatever she says.) WHO talks like that? And more importantly, WHO thinks women talk like that? Whoever it is, I bet no one wants to go out for drinks with them.
And Tink, those car crash spots are a total buzz kill.

I know; I was a passenger in an accident a bunch of years ago and never saw it coming either. Luckily for me, I was really drunk and don't remember much. That was a tasteless joke, but it's it true. The only thing to remind me of it is an unattractive scar through my right eyebrow (it's not cool and perfect like Piper's from Charmed or Spike's from Buffy; it's just a messed up brow). So recovering from your accident is what you meant by "still getting my bearings after being gone for a week", huh? And here I thought you were on vacation and didn't tell anyone!
Can you just picture ER waiting rooms full of men with blazing hard ons?

teen: Why do you insist on treating me like an adult?
mom: Because you insist on acting like one! Now you're getting this new phone.
teen: But it's SO small! I really like it! Why is it always what I want?
mom: Well, do you have any idea how much money this is NOT going to cost me?
teen: I LOVE you

Ooh! I hate those. I don't mind a little PC bashing by Mac, but get it right, dudes! The one that drives me crazy is where they're sitting in boxes and the Mac guy says he can start doing things right away but the PC guy can't because first he has to uninstall the demo software, read through all the manuals and wait for the rest of him to arrive in another box. You don't have to uninstall demo software to be able to use the computer, I haven't seen a manual come with a computer in about ten years and, with flat panels fast becoming the norm, everything can ship in one box. I will admit, though, the virus one is funny. Especially if all the pc virus-writing geeks out there take it as a personal challenge and start creating more viruses for Macs. Hee hee!

And then when you try to explain why it's so funny to you it loses it's humor, like trying to explain a joke to someone who doesn't get it. On the one hand I want people in my "real" world to experience TVgasm so they can get it too, on the other hand I want to keep it all to myself so they'll never be in on the jokes! So My fav is this guy vaccuming a room. There is a tiny little dog on a leash watching the guy. He's all dancin and not really paying attention while he's vaccuming and some girl comes and takes the dog off the leash. He comes back to reality and realizes the dog is gone. He freaks out thinkin he vaccumed up the dog!! He's on his hands and knees, whistling at the end of the vaccum, meanwhile the chick is standing there with the dog in her arms thinkin he lost his mind. It kills me!!!
There is a commercial that I don't even know what it is selling, but a woman looks in at her husband and son and they are doing chores without being told. She smiles and is sitting on the couch and her cat is giving her a shoulder massage. It is so cute. I keep looking at MY cat and hoping he would do the same for me.

I love the new Cottonelle commercial with the lab puppy who is working out at the gym. I am not usually a huge fan of these commercials because the puppy has such a dorky voice and because, hello, he is talking about your butt, but this new one is pretty cute. I love the part where he is on the treadmill, wearing a little sweatband on his head, and the speed the treadmill is set to is "fetch." SO cute! The only way it could be better is if they used a golden retriever puppy instead, but you really can't go wrong with any puppy. Puppies are the best!

He's saying "agent" and the system answers back " i'm sorry, I did not get that" and keeps cutting him off. Then a ram comes out of nowhere and head butts him in the groin, his gum flies out of his mouth and the Stride undercover guys swoop in to get the gum.
