Hmmm... I'm not sure how I felt about the premiere.
I loved that Jim and Pam got engaged, especially because until that happened, I was afraid that there was trouble coming. The scenes between Pam and her new friend at school, and then the phone conversation where Jim cancelled their plans for the weekend (I think, I might have misunderstood that part), but then he asked her to meet him for lunch, and the proposal was adorable. Is she almost done with school now?
I loved the part where Holly found out that Kevin isn't mentally challenged. I can't remember who planted that idea in her head last season?
The weight loss thing, and Michael's (and Ryan's) ever-changing facial hair, and Angela and Dwight hooking up in the warehouse... funny at first, but for me, the same things were repeated too much over the course of an hour-long episode.
I guess overall, I was a little disappointed, but I'd love to hear everyone else's takes on it!

I was afraid of that too, and was all prepared to be all kinds of pissed off. PHEW - and it was so cute!
Is she almost done with school now?
She said it was a 3 month course and they did 8 weeks of dieting - so she has to be nearly done - I think.

That would be Dwight with his "new hire hazing". When she figured it out she grr'd "DWIGHTTTTTTT" last night.

Oh but repetition is a cornerstone to comedy. I thought it was hilarious with the facial hair - especially at the end when Dwight had the lone goatee.
LOVED that Ryan was the temp that replaced poor Rice-A-Ronny.
And Pam being carried around in the laptop was too cute especially when the cameramen had her on a chair and she asked to be taken back to Jim.
Creed feeding Kelly a tapeworm that wasn't a tapeworm was so CREED. And poor Kelly, that girl was killing herself to lose weight. I laughed my bottom off when she was making out with Darryl right next to the reception desk.
Andy Bernard "I put down 4 non-refundable deposits" what a twit.
This show just KILLS me!
I keep thinking of other funny moments like Stanley's Black Pride photo and pose at the end.
And what was going on with Meredith's face at the beginning? It was all red and swollen.
Oh and one last question - at the end they showed Toby in a hospital with a broken back - what did he say? My evil DVR cut it off so I missed it.

Yeah, when Ryan showed up and did his "How's my favorite branch doin'?" thing, I was like "you have GOT to be kidding me." But when I realized he was back to being "the temp" I was thrilled.
The laptop thing was hilarious. "Michael, can you put me down? I'm getting dizzy."
Andy is a complete tool and I love that Angela makes everything so difficult for him. I'm just amazed that he continues to put up with it!
YES I forgot about Dwight's hazing thing from last season, thank you!
I totally noticed Meredith's face and I wonder if the explanation for it might have ended up getting cut from the episode? In which case I'm pissed because it was very noticeable and it drove me nuts that I didn't know why she looked like that.
Toby was on a zip line and it wasn't attached properly so he fell and broke his neck. I think he said it happened his first day in Costa Rica and he'd been in the hospital for 6 weeks, hadn't even gone to the beach yet. Poor Toby! And then he said to the camera guys "It's so nice to have visitors." You gotta feel for the guy!
P.S. Thanks for giving The Office its own spot in the forums! I was going to suggest that - it's way too popular to hide under "Other TV Shows." :)

You're welcome and I agree I could NOT wait for this season to start, been watching all the repeats and they hold up so well but I was also eager for some new laughs.
Hopefully now that it's on the main page - more peep will wander over this way and comment.

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. When Michael tore up Holly's Counting Crows tickets, I almost peed myself laughing. He just never gets it right.
Andy calling angela "Ang -ela-ela-ela, made me afraid she was going to really hurt him physically.
I also liked Jan bragging about her candles being used in a candlelight vigil and then being surprised that they found the little girl, and Oscar calling her "beautiful, but clinically insane".

I was just so happy to have the show back! I laughed a ton. Thank God for Pam and Jim getting engaged - I was setting myself up to get good and angry with the show and then it happened!
I love Holly, in all her geekdom and social retardation.
I can.t wait to see the Dwight and Angela story line continue to unfold. I also want to see if Ryan and Kelly end up picking their relationship up...or anything.

OOH I forgot how Holly made her weird lesbian comment to Oscar - that whole exchange was awkwardly funny. Oscar looks like he really has lost some weight.
"Who's your daddy? you don't really know do you!"

I think you guys have covered all the high points - I particularly loved the proposal at the gas station, since I also got engaged in a gas station parking lot :)

Meredith's face was sunburnt. They put the explanation for that on the website. I haven't seen it yet, but I plan to.
I almost DIED when Phyllis came in: Dwight left me at an abandoned warehouse. I had to walk back. I had no phone. It was a bad part of town!

Dammit. My morning (possibly my whole day) is ruined. I didn't realize that The Office wouldn't be on tonight because of the debate. Sigh... I was really looking forward to watching this tonight!!

I have a feeling you might get just as many laughs out of the VP debate, it should be pretty entertaining.
