August 04,2006 ABC Television Network PRESS RELEASE - ENTERTAINMENT - PRODUCTION BEGINS ON THIRD SEASON OF LOST (PREMIERES 10/4) PRODUCTION BEGINS IN HAWAII ON THIRD SEASON EPISODES OF THE AWARD WINNING, ACTION-PACKED MYSTERY AND ADVENTURE SERIES, "LOST"
Series Season Premiere is October 4 "Lost" - awarded the 2005 Emmy and 2006 Golden Globe for best drama series - has begun production in Hawaii on third season episodes of action-packed mystery and adventure -- that will continue to bring out the very best and the very worst in the people who are lost. The series will have its season premiere WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

After Oceanic Air flight 815 tore apart in mid-air and crashed on a Pacific island, its survivors were forced to find inner strength they never knew they had in order to survive. But they discovered that the island holds many secrets, including a mysterious smoke monster, polar bears, a strange French woman and another group of island residents known as "The Others." The survivors have also found signs of those who came to the island before them, including a 19th century sailing ship called The Black Rock, the remains of an ancient statue and bunkers belonging to the Dharma Initiative, a group of scientific researchers.

Jack, Kate and Sawyer open the season in captivity as prisoners of "The Others." Just who these "Others" are and what they want are primary questions Season Three will explore. Michael Emerson joins the regular cast in his ongoing role as Henry Gale, leader of "The Others." Romance looms on the horizon as Jack's interests veer towards a mysterious new woman, whose motives may be questionable. Sun and Jin will continue to celebrate their pregnancy - but is the child really Jin's? Locke and Sayid will band together with some of the other survivors and journey across the island in an attempt to free Jack, Kate and Sawyer. Charlie will attempt to return into the good graces of Claire and her baby, Aaron, but can he be trusted to stay clean and sober? The fates of Locke, Desmond and Mr. Eko in the aftermath of the implosion of the hatch are answered. Will Penny Widmore find the island and her long, lost love, Desmond, and can the survivors find a way to interact with the outside
world?

The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must continue to work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But as they have discovered during their 60-plus days on the island, danger and mystery loom behind every corner, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets.

"Lost" stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Mr. Eko, Naveen Andrews as Sayid, Henry Ian Cusick as Desmond, Emilie de Ravin as Claire, Michael Emerson as Henry Gale, Matthew Fox as Jack, Jorge Garcia as Hurley, Josh Holloway as Sawyer, Daniel Dae Kim as Jin, Yunjin Kim as Sun, Evangeline Lilly as Kate, Elizabeth Mitchell as Juliet, Dominic Monaghan as Charlie and Terry O'Quinn as Locke.

"Lost" was created by Jeffrey Lieber and J.J. Abrams & Damon Lindelof. Abrams, Lindelof, Bryan Burk, Jack Bender, Jeff Pinkner and Carlton Cuse serve as executive producers. "Lost," which is filmed entirely on location in Hawaii and premiered on September 22, 2004, is from Touchstone Television.

You know, I've been out of school of any type for seven years now and yet, I still get depressed as the end of summer draws near.

Then I remember...corduroys, sweaters, football...and LOST! And all is right with the world again.

I was so excited to read this. Until I got to the part about Charlie trying to get into Claire's good graces again.

Sounds good. Looking forward to it. I guess the fact that Jack has a new love interest this season means that Kate chooses Sawyer. The LOST producers said that Jack-Sawyer-Kate love triangle would be resolved in the first few eps, so I guess that's our answer...unless...they're trying to throw us off the trail.

Goddamn this show and it's hall-of-mirrors plots.

Unless you are an operating Thetan 7, I can't tell you.

I like how 1 sentence after they say Locke is going to trek across the island with Sayid they tell us we will learn the "fate" of Locke from the hatch explosion. Something tells me he survives it.

I saw an article on yahoo today talking about the new characters: http://news.yahoo.com/s/eo/20060807/en_tv_eo/19695

There is minor spoiler stuff at the bottom but nothing to big.

Has anyone else heard about the schedule for this year? 6 new episodes in the fall, a winter hiatus and then 16 new episodes in the spring. It's going to be torture!

Yeah, it will be a long sabaatical, but it's better than an episode here and there. I hate same season reruns. I'd rather devote my time to a show only when I know I'll be getting something fresh. Plus, LOST, as a show, just doesn't lend itself well to reruns. It gets too confusing. Maybe I'm just feeble-brained, but I can barely keep it all straight when the episodes go in order, let alone when the reruns force you to double back five weeks.

I guess ratings took a pretty big hit last year because LOST fans were getting frustrated and confused due to last year's start and stop scheduling . Apparently ABC's took a page from Fox and 24 and decided to keep the schedule as clean and simple as possible. I think it's a good move and I bet the ratings will benefit from this.

Sigh...
How cute was that guy Rodrigo Santoro in Love Actually? The ladies need more eye candy...especially since all the sudden Jin is a prude who never takes his shirt off. Tease!

Good points. I couldn't stand getting a rerun in the middle of the season. I wasn't a big fan of those recap episodes either. Adding Kiele Sanchez looks like a nice addition to me. :tongue_smilie:

Bumped to say they were showing commercials for the new season this afternoon between soap operas (I now know more about General Hospital than I ever wanted to). There were two, I only saw one (there'll prolly be more tonite)--

Narrator: 65 days ago, they fell from the sky. (scenes of inside the plane shaking, the tail section falling)

First came survival. (scenes of them seeing the boat, Hurley, Sayid cradling Shannon)

Then confrontation. (scenes of Jack seeing Eko first time, raring back the golf club, Jack and Sawyer on the trek to Others' camp, Charlie being thrown from blast in hatch)

This Fall, their only hope is each other. (scenes of the four being held by Others, Henry, the three gagged about to be hooded, lots of quick scenes of the Losties and the Others)

Michael: Who are you people?

Henry: We're the good guys...

Narrator: Lost, the brand new season premieres Wed., Oct. 4, at 9, 8 central, only on ABC. (shot of beach from a cave)

I dont even KNOW what the second one was. It might have been this, which was the one that was at Comic Con. http://youtube.com/watch?v=dRux0v7PWtg
