View Full Version : Amazing Race 10/5: Read the Damned Clue!

Interesting episode last night - here are my random observations:
- Those girls who didn't read the clue properly - TWICE - need to go home, now.
- But first, we can get rid of Terrence the bi-polar closeted gay who is taking out his feelings of confusion on that poor weird enabler girlfriend of his. Girl - LEAVE HIM!
- Who knew the wall challenge would prove so challenging for Brother of Starr? I thought the idea to write everything down and read it off to the guy was fairly obvious - amazed more people didn't think of it sooner.
- Did Phil get a haircut? There was something different about his hair last night, it seemed softer or fluffier or something. I liked it.
- The couple that got eliminated...didn't remember them AT all from the first ep, but then the guy grew on me, only to get ousted. Sad face.
- Lovinggggg the geeks who took the needle in a haystack challenge. They are starting to be my faves.
- Mrs. McCheaterson is bugging me more, first off she has the drag queen drawn on eyebrows, then the grating voice and now she's taking credit for an entire airplane. Starting to see why he strayed. Mr. McCheaterson was cute when he kissed Terrance - even it if was oogie.

And how about the geeks on the finish mat? While I personally don't think a new ATV would resolve the McCheaterson's issues (great name Tink!), it was very nice of them to say that if it helped their marriage, the geeks were happy to have finished second.

Oh I forgot about that - that was very cool.
McCheaterson's issues (great name Tink!),
Wish I could take credit on the name, it was our brilliant new member Ohralphie who coined the name.
I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one a little annoyed by the bro/sis combo wanting to call the mccheatersons 'mom' and 'dad'.....especially since that was their strategedy! Maybe its because I turned forty this year, but I swear to god I would have shown that girl what a psychotic 'mom' is capable of these days

I loved all the idiots! And the divorcees kept saying that everyone else was leaving without searching for the container.
And I had been thinking the same about Mrs. McCheaterson. You can tell maybe why he strayed. She is mean.
Loved how she said that since they checked in first, they got to be first in line to get on the plane. I don't think it works that way. As I said, love the idiots.
Don't know how many times I yell at the TV, read the clue!!

Loved last nights episode. And while I usually do not sympathisize with a cheater ---- I think I have some empathy for Mr Mccheaterson. Unless the Mrs [I]just[I] found out about the infidelity, I think she needs to start letting it go. Or, that is her normal personality in which case I really see the potential for villagers stoning her somewhere in Eastern Europe to be pretty high. :D
I love love love the geeks, and I truly hope they take it all.
I hate, hate, hate the spanglers. Hate them! Perhaps it is my newly turned 40 self that cannot get over the whole 'mom' fiasco, but talk about complete and utter a$$es! Hate them!
And thank you for the kind words, TinkerbellApixie, I appreciate them :)

I was a bit put off by the guy on the team that got eliminated last night, after he started listing all the things he was thankful for. "My friends, my family, my looks, and oh yeah, Stephanie too..." I mean, come on!!

After those morons kept digging in the sand for a container, and then misread the clue even AFTER that - I decided that I might need to add a question to Fantasy TAR - how many times will stupid teams make Pek smack herself in the head this episode?
Loved the Geeks, its nice to find a team to root for, for a minute there it was looking like there might not be one. Anthony and Stephanie were neat too - they definitely could have been my backup favorites, but honestly, if the morons that were digging in the sand beat you, you probably deserved to go home.

It doesn't and they were even told when checking in and demanded a seat in the front row. They were told that it is open seating. Meaning if you aren't there first you don't get to pick from any seat that the people in front of you took. Its like south west used to be. Show up 1 hour plus and stand in a huge line the blocks the entire concourse just to ensure you are not sitting in a middle seat between 2 300 plus pound people.

They are the bro and sis team that wear the matching camo slut outfits.

Another question I had - on the roadblock challenge ("the writing on the wall") did anyone understand Phil's cryptic instruction that the teams had to "embrace the laid-back beach culture" to solve it? I don't understand how that had anything to do with the challenge. Maybe someone has some better insight on that.

No, that whole roadblock was stupid.
Girls digging in the sand. I wonder how long they actually dug in the sand and how much was editting... because those two looked soooooo stuuuuuuuuupid.

I didn't really understand it either. I think the laid back might have to do with not thinking about the other stuff on the wall and seeing that there was only that list of cities. Then basically doing like they all eventually did and take the list and go down it until you were told you had said the right place.

I was SO wishing that some P.A. would go tell Phil about those stupid women digging in the sand so that when they checked in at the mat, Phil could say something like, "Do you have your container?" and then be all, "Psyche!" when they freaked out. That would have been AWEsome! I thought it was great that one of the two said their ex-husbands were always telling them what to do. Well, no wonder. They probably don't remember to breathe if someone doesn't tell them!
On Monday we were driving up to western Maryland and on the other side of the highway was a Hamburg Sud truck! The same company on the shipping container the nerdy guys had to find in the shipyard. It was the same red color with white writing, I couldn't believe it! I wanted to take a photo to share with everyone here but it was on the other side and we were going in different directions, alas!
I did not remember the couple who was ultimately eliminated from last week at ALL. Weird.
Those blondes are pretty dumb, too. I loved it when they were riding on the beach and one said, "We're going to get tan!" And the other one said, "Tannnnn. Giggle!" Hard to believe they are still there.

Love love love the nerds. Loved when the not-bald one talked like Yoda. I hope they kick some serious ass, win a million dollars, and make a guest appearance on The Soup!

I had forgotten the Yoda voice! I loved that, too. He actually did it well.

I hate this guy and I hate it even more that I sympathized with him. About 8 years ago it was December 23rd and I was with my mom who was doing all her Christmas shopping in one day due to a late arriving bonus. We left the house at 8am and about 1am we were finally done and exiting Walmart. We were loading the bags into the trunk when my mom decided that everything was put away and slammed the trunk lid - the only problem - I was bent over the trunk with my head inside - she shut the trunk on my head - I blacked out in the parking lot and almost threw up. It gave me bad flash backs when I saw this!

At least you were actually injured! I.m glad, though, that you weren.t maimed or that your mom didn.t give you a skull fracture. If whinypants had been hit with the trunk as hard as you had been, he would.ve been crying and demanding and ambulance and for Sarah to sit by his side and help him plan his funeral.
After the dull premiere, this episode was head and shoulders above it. So much shuffling in the ranks and simple mistakes that made the drama and tension interesting.
Kelly & Christy definitely made me uncomfortable digging for the container that was ultimately not there, and even more so when they didn't tell their cab driver to stay. Still, I'm glad they survived because guess what? They're my favorite team in the race. Yes, that's right. They are.
This episode also made me love Mark & Bill. I respect them for risking things with the Docket Detour and totally acing it. And their overall attitude throughout the leg was commendable. I'm sorry they didn't win the leg, but I like Ken & Tina, too, so I can't complain much.
Speaking of whom, Tina seemed a bit better on this leg, at least to me. I love how friendly she was toward Mark & Bill, and I love that she basically lightened up on the second half of the leg. Ken kissing Terence was hilarious, too.
Terence is a colossal ass, but I love Sarah.
Aja & Ty I do not think will last long. They already missed the clue box and wasted more time having to ask how to enter the park the Pit Stop was in.
Toni & Dallas are a lot of fun, and are much better than the last mother/son team, Susan & Patrick. I didn't even mind them helping Terence & Sarah, since they were in no position to get eliminated.
This episode unfortunately made me dislike Nick after liking him and Starr last week. I had no problem with him screwing Andrew over, since so few teams were behind them, but openly patting himself on the back for it in that confessional really turned him off to me. He'd just potentially made enemies, and he's proud of it? Blech. Still like Starr, though.
Andrew & Dan annoy me. Enough said.
Marisa & Brooke I find adorable, despite their stupidity.
I never really got to know Anthony & Stephanie all that well, so it's no great loss to me that they got booted. Although as it turned out, it wasn't totally their fault. Their cab at the airport broke down, and it took awhile to get them going. Then, they couldn't get the trunk open to get their bags. After that, the cab they took from the Detour got really lost, setting them a whole half-hour behind the other teams. They finished twenty to twenty-five minutes behind Marisa & Brooke.
Oh, and I took Anthony listing Stephanie last in the things he was thankful for as more of an "And best of all . . ." or "I'm saving the best for last" sort of thing.
Good episode. Much better than last week's!
