I have been going through the super long thread and am very caught up but it was getting a bit tedious.
Am I alone here when I think there should be a new thread for each episode?

Tedious? I'm sure you meant hilarious, exhilarating and blinding in its brilliance, right? :glare:

It probably does make more sense. I'm pretty sure Project Runway started out as a thread in the Other TV Shows thread, that's why it's just one long one and I guess we just all got used to it. See? This is why we need new blood once in a while! Their young minds keep us organized and on track. :)

thank you, ya'll are the best...I will start reading the other thread right now so I will be in the loop for tomorrow's show.
If anyone is interested(and I know ya'll are) Vincent Libretti has a short video on youtube that has him walking around talking about nanotechnology and then a shot of him naked...yep...his naked ass....

Ummm sure :) The posts themselves were hilarious, without a doubt. The skipping pages to find where I left off was tedious.

Well since I am taking a much needed vaca from recapping PR this week (stay tuned for a special guest recapper!) let me get my two cents in.
I was very happy with how the episode turned out. I am a big Michael Knight fan and have picked him as the dark horse from the beginning so I was happy to see him win. That being said, Kayne’s dress was the best of the bunch. It looked great, loved the colors and use of the leather, and dammit I don’t care if his model talks to much, she’s a red head and she’s cute! And her ass looked great in it.
How funny is it that Cher is the leftovers?
As far a the dresses were concerned they were the best all season. Loved Laura’s take on Hartford CT’s own Kate Hepburn (I used to see her riding her bike in Old Saybrook as a kid in the summer). I am also warming to Lauras take no shit attitude. reminds me of a certain girl I know...
Micahel Kors is back, eye rolls and all! Dont get me wrong, Vera Wang is a great deisgner, but shes too nice. I need a bitchy middle aged queen.
Bradley shouldve been gone last week, his trash bag cher spacesuit was the final nail in teh coffin. I hope his model doesnt get booted cuz shes cute too.
Tonight's was so fun!!!
I have to say though - in terms of capturing their muse's style, I thought the worst were Allison's and Robert's. I thought Allison's dress was cute but I didn't get Farrah Fawcett out of it at all. And Robert - good god, what were you thinking?!?! How easy would it be to make a boat-neck shift in yellow for Jackie O? He was way, way off. And I agree that Bradley should have been kicked off (two weeks ago) but am I crazy in saying I can totally see Cher wearing that? I also - don't shoot me - liked that plaid for Twiggy.
Angela is freaking redeeming herself again! Maybe she did learn something from Michael and Laura.
Michael's outfit was so h-o-t! I was so happy when he said he was going to make hot pants. Dead on for Pam Greer.
My husband said, "I wonder how come he made shorts instead of hot pants?" Men are so cute when they're clueless.

Maybe I'm just mean-spirited, but I hate Angela and I hate to see her succeed. The dress was cute, she did well, blah, blah, blah, I still hate her.
Soooooo glad to see Michael win- he nailed it. I will miss Bradley's toker-isms, and was sad to see him go, though it was deserved. He really is a squid with no ocean.

I am so sorry Ed, Laura's take was not all that in my opinion. It was a classy outfit and well done. But it didn't look like she updated it at all, no way was it modernized. I think she should have played with the colors to make it a bit more modern.
I loved Michael Knight's garmet as well, and was so happy that he won. And Vincent should have been in the bottom two with Bradley. Robert's was boring because he didn't stick with his Tiffany Blue, now his outfit in that would have been nice with the black camisole that he made, that was hot.
And what is up with those rope belts, it reminds me of the Beverly Hillbillies. But all in all I loved it.

YUP! know whatcha mean, i don't like admitting that she made a pretty, wearable dress, b/c it's kooky, annoying, not-owning-up-to-her-mistakes Angela aftr all (sewing machine snafu, any1?)!
I thot the models' choices for fashion icons to modernize were pretty dead-on & suited them (like the girl who picked Audrey H or the one who picked Pam Grier). Now that we're getting to know the models, some of them, I hafta say, I don't know WHY they're modeling, must b the bods b/c the looks on some of them, ouch. (Robert's model, Vincent's model for instance---huh?)
Ths was prolly mentioned in chat already, but what did e'one thnk of Jeff the Giraffe's badgering of Angela ovr the sewing machine? He was right that she shoulda 'fessed up about messing it up, but he did have 2 b SUCH a prick abt it? Wishing anyone a stroke, let alone a pregnant MOTHER OF FIVE is quite distasteful, I almost wondered whether that was a random soundbite that was edited in by the producers? I agree w/ Laura when she spoke up b/c after a while, Jeff just wouldn't drop it & it became annoying & pointless, even Michael said s'in. Don't like the Giraffe, or his outfit---GAG, did u see that?? it looked like a paper bag w/ snippets of random fabrics stuck to it. & the chunky heavy boots ddn't help.
Bradley's was awful, too, tho, at least Robert's was wearable---I, for one, am happy to see the space cadet go, he was just too whiny & spacey & really seemed at a loss half the time, like he knew he was in over his head.
Glad to see Michael win & to see more of him (talking to Mom, etc), he's a cutie. I also liked Kayne's dress, beautiful.

I'm sorry, but who doesn't know who CHER is? Gah. I hate it when people pull that crap, as though it makes them seem more intellectual, or unworldly, or something. There's nothing wrong with saying "Oh, Cher. Sure, I know who she is...but I guess I need more information so that I can really nail this outfit down, because I'm not a big Cher fan."
So, after a full two days of plumbers and electricians in & out of our house, the place was a disaster and so we spent 9pm-12midnight cleaning up...and then I realized (GASP! ) that I had missed PR. I tuned in at that point and caught it in rerun, but kept falling asleep! At about 2am I woke up on the couch JUST in time to see Bradley being auf'd...and I smiled happily and drowsily.
I'm going to go over to the PR website to view the pictures, because I'm not sure that I saw all of the outfits, so I can't offer good opinions on them yet!
Oh, one thing that I can say is that I've never even heard of Pam Grier! All of the other 'icons' I was familiar with. I guess I'll google her and find out! Michael sure knew who she was, huh? Man, I hated his outfit. Totally cheesy. And maybe that's reflective of her, but I'm surprised to hear that the judges were favorable towards it. I thought that they'd hate it.
ObstinantGirl
08-10-2006, 08:50 AM
Okay...NOW I know (sort of) who Pam Grier is. But I don't know her 'earlier' stuff, or actually much of her stuff at all. I remember her from Above the Law, and there were one or two other things listed in her filmography that I recognized....but I would never have recognized her as a sexy siren!
Can I just say right now how much I hate the PR website? It's nearly impossible to navigate, and I can never seem to get anything but pin-sized pictures of the outfits that won't enlarge!
Based upon what I saw last night (while in & out of slumber) and the little bitty pictures I just looked at on the PR site:
-I didn't think that Bradley's outfit for Cher was totally horrible. But it also really didn't look like Cher (IMO).
-I thought that Laura nailed Katharine Hepburn's outfit...although it could perhaps have been a BIT more 'modernized'. Still, very well done.
-I can't see a larger picture of Uli's dress, so I'm not sure what I think of it. The color looks lovely, though. Did it look like a "modern Diana Ross"?
-Vincent's Twiggy outfit was nasty & cheap-looking.
-Angela's Audrey Hepburn outfit was 'okay'. I hated the Laura-like skeletora neckline, and the little "poof" at the hemline. But it did sorta look Hepburn.
-Jeffrey's Madonna outfit was awful. He really needs to be auf'd next. He's obnoxious and arrogant, and for no good reason that I can see! He seems fairly talentless.
-Robert's Jackie O? Meh.
-Kayne's Marilyn Monroe? Wowza. Just gorgeous. And totally Marilyn.
-Michael's Pam Grier? As I said above, I hated that one. Really cheap and cheesy looking. She looked like a hooker.
-I was 'eh' about Alison's Farrah Fawcett. It vaguely resembled Farrah, but not much. And again with the skeletora neckline...I really dislike that.
So...who did the judges gush over? Who was bottom 2? Top two?
Can you tell me some of the comments that were made to the designers?
Thanks! I'll try next week not to fall asleep and miss most of the show :blushing:

Ok, I'm clearly not going to work much today so I'll answer this. They gushed over Michael's Pam, Kayne's Marilyn, and Angela's Audrey.
Heidi said she would want Angela's dress in one of every color! HELLO! That is such a huge compliment! It was an updated, modern LBD but I agree about the ruffles on the bottom.
They loved Kayne's dress. And that annoying model did have the perfect curvy body (and nice butt) for it. It was definitely down to Kayne and Michael.
They loved Michael because he thought about it. He was going to make pants but he knew that color would be too much in pants so he went with the hot pants. Diane Von Furstenberg particularly loved the hot pants. To give you some idea of a modern day Pam - think of Beyonce Knowles doing her Austin Powers bit. Sort of a tough bad ass with a slamming body and killer legs.
They hated Bradley's because it looked cheap and they hated Robert's fabric choice. (Linen. For a suit. For Jackie O. Cut to me shaking my head in disappointment.)
I don't really know much abt her either, just that she was (& still is, in her own right) a hottie in some 70s 'Blaxploitation' (sp?) type of movies. I first heard of her b/c of Jackie Brown, that movie by Quentin Tarantino, he was a big fan of hers. The model that chose her made a perfect choice, I thought.
-I can't see a larger picture of Uli's dress, so I'm not sure what I think of it. The color looks lovely, though. Did it look like a "modern Diana Ross"?
The dress was a pretty color and style, but Uli's style seems to run in the same vein, each dress looking very similar, w/ a twist here or there. This has a criss-crossing halter type of neckline, which was interesting, but I think another designer already did it (Michael, I think). I could see DRoss wearing this, tho.
-Vincent's Twiggy outfit was nasty & cheap-looking.
It was--- Heidi, especially, kept saying as much. I also agree w/ur comments abt Laura's outfit---it was good-looking, but could've used more modernizing.
-Angela's Audrey Hepburn outfit was 'okay'. I hated the Laura-like skeletora neckline, and the little "poof" at the hemline. But it did sorta look Hepburn..
The poof was actually created by a bunch of those 'flowery' things A likes to tack on---she called them 'rose-chons', something like that, similar to the rosettes she used in last challenge. They seemed to work in ths dress, I thot.
-Jeffrey's Madonna outfit was awful. He really needs to be auf'd next. He's obnoxious and arrogant, and for no good reason that I can see! He seems fairly talentless.
I agree, he seems more abt deconstructing things, then putting them back together in some wacky, ugly way. Can't really see that outfit on any1, not even Madonna! He is really obnoxious.
-Kayne's Marilyn Monroe? Wowza. Just gorgeous. And totally Marilyn.
I thot so, too, very beautiful---cool combination of leather & chiffon.
-Michael's Pam Grier? As I said above, I hated that one. Really cheap and cheesy looking. She looked like a hooker.
I liked this one---I couldn't pull this 1 off, but a model or celebrity-type could. I thot the shorts weren't as short as I feared & I could see some1 wearing this 2 a lounge or club. I liked the color on the model, too, not an easy color to pull off.
-I was 'eh' about Alison's Farrah Fawcett. It vaguely resembled Farrah, but not much. And again with the skeletora neckline...I really dislike that.
I'm personally not a fan of baby-doll styles, I think they're hard to pull off. The colors were pretty, but the most Farah thing abt ths was the model's hair.
So...who did the judges gush over? Who was bottom 2? Top two?
Can you tell me some of the comments that were made to the designers?
Thanks!
As BSL said, Robert (Jackie O) & Bradley (Cher) were bottom 2. I'm getting worried for Robert, he's been in the bottom 2 for 2 challenges now.

Tim Gunn referred to them as 'fleurettes' or 'small flower' in his blog, not to be confused with 'fourchette', which is part of one's lady flower. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frenulum_labiorum_pudendi, WARNING- not porn, but diagram not safe for work (unless you work at a gynocologist's office))
