Probably because she was quite drunk herself. All that time spent together, sweating together, joking around, sharing stories of woe + alcohol = a definite hook up.

LOL I was thinking the same thing. :p

About Diem and Derrick, girl just looks and sounds desperate. For one thing, it's Derrick for goodness's sake. For another, it's Derrick under the influence in a wife-beater looking get-up. She said she was worried that, once she goes through treatments, guys aren't going to want to stick with her through it all. Valid fear, but sort of shallow if you ask me.

First of all, I don't think it's shallow at all. She's young and might not realize that men, especially men in love, sometimes do come through for their wives/girlfriends and can be caring and supportive. At least the older and/or more mature men whom I've had the privilege of knowing have.

Second of all, I didn't hear her say that (guys aren't going to want to stick with her) but it's possible she's just trying to justify her crazy, wanton behavior (I love that word! And debauchery. Wanton and debauchery... those are great words!). I've never been seriously ill, but I would imagine fear might cause me to do all sorts of crazy things, sort of as a celebration of life (or fear of death?). I might even sleep with a "Derrick"! And a "Theo". Or a "Mark". But never a "Timmy". That's just wrong.

 that last part cracked me up, Jampony!

But yea, I did hear Diem say that, in one of those side interviews---she actually got upset & was crying a bit. I don't thnk her hooking up w/ Derrick makes her desperate necessarily. He's her partner, they've been hanging out & chatting 4 a while now, they seem 2 have a nice li'l rapport, & he seems capable of turning it on 4 the ladies, (um, Aneesa, any1?) Add a li'l alcohol 2 that & forget it, the guy seems charming! Maybe not a great dresser (exhibit A, wife-beater tank & exhibit B, that tea cosy hat!), but he hasn't been a jerk to her (like say, Wes is w/Casey).

Yeah, I might have to add Derrick to my "who would you do but not tell anyone" list. :shameandselfloathing:

It's debatable. Hence, the reason I said "sort of." I also called it a valid fear, meaning that I believe it's very understandable to feel that way since the world is full of shallow people. The reason why I called it shallow is because you'd only be losing the shallow weight. As much as most of us don't want to be lonely, anyone who's willing to turn their back on someone just because going through treatments isn't a treat isn't worth worrying over because that person would be selfish and inconsiderate.

I was just watching the episode on Overdrive. She said, "I definitely feel that people aren't going to-- uh, continue a relationship with someone who has to go through, like, treatments and stuff because it's-- it's not fun." She probably is naive about it because she probably lived a comfortable life being "beautiful" and hanging around "beautiful" people. I feel sorry for her of course, but she needs to do some soul searching or something.
