I like the new front page. So much better. Thanks J Unit and B Side! Love it!

I don't want to dilute the happiness about the new page, but I wanted to bring up a glitch in case the powers that be weren't aware: I use an RSS feed for the site, and many of the recent posts have "fed" multiple times...I don't actually care, but in the interest of helping I thought you should know :)

Ahhhhhhh...thanks guys, for pedaling in the right direction. To me, the front page is much more user-friendly now with the added super-bonus of showing the identity of the author up front. Nice.

I'll check on the feeds templates and try and figure out what is going on. Thanks for the tip.

Hey guys. Glad you all like the new front page. J-Unit worked tirelessly on it. I think it's a lot more useful too. This way, if you just want to head to the recaps, you can. But if you feel like catching up on the news, you can too. I really sound like an informercial.

Hopefully people will find what they're looking for easily now. I know there have been fears about new directions the site has been going in, but it's really the same site, just reorganized. And hey, what sort of growth process doesn't have an awkward adolescent phase? (You can look at my middle school yearbooks for proof of that).

Anyway, thanks all for sticking through as we make changes, and we always do value your feedback and input.

Oh momma. Can we get a scan of your middle school yearbooks? That would be Sweet.

We still love you B-Side, though we might be seeing other people from time to time.

Hwy guys... In the latest Jericho recap... I clicked on the Jericho link and though the URL is /jericho... all the content is Laguna Beach, OMG, like, what happened to Jericho? (Ugh bad humor attempt)

Anyway, what URL is the previous Jericho stuff on? TY.

All 9 of the comments for the Tabloid Baby column "Fox plans to get a lot more animated" at

http://www.tvgasm.com/newsgasm/news/...ma-mission.php

have been deleted, and the column was revised to contain corrections, at least one of which I provided in the comments, without acknowledgment. This is inconsiderate and unethical.

CrazyTrain,

The Jericho archives should be back up. Thanks for the heads up!

gamera87,

We have had serious issues with the commenting system. Some people haven't been able to leave comments, and others have had to comment three times before it goes through. I tried to rebuild the database last night, and some things may have been hosed. I am still looking into it.

I have had trouble logging on a few times recently. I thought there was something wrong with the login server, but actually I had my password on caps lock. I spent like 20 minutes re-typing my password untill I considered it. Just suggesting that we make it so it will not matter if caps lock is on or off.I type in my username I just put ' because it remembers my name. ((that's why my username isn't messed up also.))

Maybe? yes? no?

What was wrong with the tvgasm.com link at the bottom of the page? Not that I'm complaining since I don't use/need either; I have all my favorite gasm links on my toolbar for easy access.

Should we do a test and all "disaprove" of someone just to see what happens? Any votes on whom?

ScotyUtah
12-14-2006, 12:31 PM
I'm willing to take on the "disapproval" test. Go ahead. Do it. I don't think anyone here has the guts to disapprove me. Bring it. For ril.

That's cool. Seriously. I want to see what it does. I gave you the approval rating and mentioned I had to recognize the NoVa roots. I think there should be some sort rating that developes out of this. Perhaps underneath the avatar there could be a good/evil rating based on how people are approving or disapproving.

Looks like the reputation is built per a particular post that begins with 10 reputation points. Keep up the good work y'all. I want to see what happens when I hit zero. Does my avatar turn into a mushroom cloud??

Thanks. Sometimes a situation calls for me to break out the word gay. As I've mentioned here before, I don't mean the good, two guys fuckin' each other in the ass "gay". I mean the rolling my eyes, I can't believe the extreme level of lame-osity "gay". Just so we're clear on that.

My wish is that we could rate the general suckitude of posts/comments on the website. That's where I really get into a lather. It's gotten to the point where I'm a total skimmer over there. Not like back in the day when I copied every single word into my TVgasm ledger.

I'll help you! If you look where your name is on any of your posts, under it is TVgasm entourage and under that is a little blue square. If you hover over it with your mouse, it'll say the part about the distinguished road. Then if you go all the way to the right of your screen you'll see a bigger blue box and if you hover over that one, it'll say something about adding to this persons reputation. If you click it, you can approve or disapprove of said person and give a reason why. THEN if you go waaay up to the top of the forum page, you'll see boxes with "User CP", "FAQ", "Members", etc. If you click on "User CP", you'll see all the comments people have left for you. :)

Go to "Members" and then click on "Reputation" at the top of the chart so it organizes by reputation ranking. The real dilemma is I don't think there's any way to see how many reputation points someone else has, so I'm blind as to how close a race it is between Firecat and I. I can't promise material goods, since I can't afford it, but to anyone who gives me an approval will discover the secret to eternal bliss. Also, I won't burn down your house. Pretty sweet deal, eh?

Can you tie em in a knot?

Does anyone know the "great big gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts" song? My cousins and I sang it all the time and the other day at work, one of my coworkers referred to it and she had a bunch of different lyrics. I had no idea other people knew it!

The only other line I remember though is "chopped up liver meat".

I'll have to Google it.

Clair

After an exhaustive 3-minute search, this is what I found:

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Great Green Gobs of Greasy, Grimy Gopher Guts" is an anonymous folk song popular among school children. It is usually sung to the tune of "The Old Gray Mare."

There are many local and regional variants among the lyrics, although most of them feature the phrase "greasy grimy gopher guts" in the opening line. The song derives its power to amuse children through alliterative description of disgusting foodstuffs, usually parts of human or animal bodies not customarily eaten in the areas in which it is sung.

The song appears on the Smithsonian Folkways collection A Fish That's a Song, a collection of traditional children's songs from the United States, where it is performed by Mika Seeger. The Smithsonian recording came from an earlier recording called The Sounds of Camp, originally released in 1959. No author nor copyright in the song is credited on the Smithsonian recording. The lyrics performed by Mika Seeger are:

Great green gobs of greasy, grimy gopher guts,
Mutilated monkey meat
Dirty little birdies' feet.

Great green gobs of greasy, grimy gopher guts,
And me without my spoon!

Now go Alice go,

No ads, no scripts, nothing slowing me down. Between that and the built-in spell checker (not to mention the cool extensions that I keep adding), I'm liable to have a webgasm while reading tvgasm!

Girlfriend, I webgasm all the time with Firefox! I'm glad I've got someone else to brag with. I thought using the faux-wood theme would be hilarious and cheesy, but it just got annoying. So I just use plain old Firefox for now. And I haven't added too many extensions, because I know I have a tendency to go crazy with them, so I'm forcing myself to hold back.

Dude! Themes are awesome, aren't they? I never used any because I thought they were too geeky but then I came across the Christmas theme. I've got snow on my toolbar and Christmas trees and presents for buttons. And don't get me started on extensions. Foxclocks, Adbock, Flashblock, Dictionary Lookup, Noscript... ahhhhh, life is good.

Can you believe the day before this post is the 1st time I actually "hit it"

And now it's back. Mother fucking hell.  :hammer:

Now I hit it every single time!

long story Chris- but the "blog" is no more. Now it's seperated into Recaps, Newsgasms, and Moviegasms so just click on recaps from the home page.

Unless you discover a liking for Tabloid Baby's "news" items, then by all means read that too. :) I've been known to read a few myself!

I was avoiding the Newsgasms like the plague, but realized I was missing some clipgasms, so I rely on the Daily recaps to fill me in.

First, the single-page recaps went away. Then they took away the "print page" option that produced a single-page recap so that we'd have to click through 3-4 pages per recap. NOW, the multi-page recap that we have to click through has even more pages than before. Why? Because they reduced the amount of text per page; I used to be able to scroll down about 2 screen lengths before having to hit the "next page" link. Now, each page is only 1 screen length long, so what was once a 3-page recap is now 5 or 6 click-throughs.

Enough already! Is J-Unit going to further reduce the page length to 1 paragraph (or 1 sentence) in order to up the number of page views and ad impressions? How far is it going to go?

Disrespectful, really.

Best useless add-on (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/4258/) ever.

PS: I'm done with the Christmas theme and I'm very sad to see there's no Valentine theme. So I settled for a ridiculous pink one that I learned how to hack to make it compatible with Firefox 2.0. When did I become such a geek?

Yeah, it was my take on an 80's girl. I didn't want to spend money on a costume so I wore that. You can't see buy I was wearing leggings and a super mini skirt too with hot pink heels. All things I already owned (except for the leggings, $5 at Target).

Oh my goodness, I was just thinking the same thing about the lack of camgasms. My day was snow-filled and awful and I need a little B-side to make it better again. I kinda feel a bit let down, ya know? Nothing a nice mixed drink won't fix, but still.
