Tyra Rolls Out New Model Wannabees
The CW has unveiled the newest group of catwalking wannabes set to compete on the 12th edition of the reality hit. And while there's nary a transgender in sight among the 13 contestants, there are plenty of students, full-time aspiring models and, possibly to dispel the notion of superficiality within modeling's ranks, a nonprofit organizer.
The new season kicks off Feb. 25. Here's the complete list of contestants:
Allison, 20, artist; New Orleans
Aminat, 21, student; Union, N.J.
Celia, 25, designer fashion sales; Cynthiana, Ky.
Fo, 19, student; Albuquerque, N.M.
Isabella, 19, aspiring model; Barboursville, Va.
Jessica, 18, student; Bradenton, Fla.
Kortnie, 24, nonprofit organizer; Houston
London, 18, student; Arlington, Texas
Natalie, 19, student; Palos Verdes, Calif.
Nijah, 18, aspiring model; Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
Sandra, 19, student; Rockville, Md.
Tahlia, 18, student; Phoenix
Teyona, 20, loss prevention representative; Woodstown, N.J.
Thanks to E! Online (http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b81177_tyra_rolls_out_new_model_wannabes.html) for the scoop

Well, two of the girls are from NJ...I'm sure they'll have fun with that.
Maybe I'm just sensitive (you can take a kid out of Jersey but you can't make him forget), but it seems like New Jersey is waaayy over-represented on reality television.
It's like the state is a giant training ground for freaks n' skanks.

The only ones that are remotely attractive are Fo & Kortnie... and Celia??? yuck. London could be pretty, Tahlia looks 35 plus, Jessica looks like she's about to pass out, Allison looks like a bush baby with those eyes, Natalie needs to do something with those eyebrows! Nijah looks like a dude... and the rest, meh. We'll see!!

Aminat and Teyona (what kind of names are those anyway?) stand out to me the most. They seem to have the bone structure that will take the garish make-up and hairdo's that Tyra seems to love in her photoshoots. Plus, Aminat has a gorgeous mouth.
Celia looks to be a bit psycho, if that is true she will go far even if her pictures stink.
Let the madness begin!

As I was checking out ANTM last night, two of my kids, who were shocked and appalled that I was watching 36 screaming girls on a reality show, decided to sit and watch it with me.
The odd girl with the creepy eyes really freaked out my daughter who said she looked like an evil doll. The 25-year-old annoyed us all because she kept talking about how old she is. I yelled, "25 isn't old!" Daughter said, "Mom, you should go on this show - America's Next Top Mom-el." We laughed and laughed. When we found out that Aminat's name was pronounced Am-in-a, my son commented that he thought a silent letter was unnecessary. I said, "I totally agree, JoHn." :D
Ahh, a good time was had by all.
I can't believe they let cutie-pie epilepsy go and kept the mean girl.
TinkerbellAPixie
03-05-2009, 01:18 PM
They kept the mean girl for drama. This was my inner dialogue as they were down to the final two:
Will it be Drama or Epilepsy
Drama is good for Drama
But Epilepsy might give us a good seizure
Oh wait - they tried to get her to seize with the strobe lights and she didn't.
Epilepsy is going home.
Btw Clair - your family is just too cute! You will always be America's Next Top Mom-el to me!

I loved Isabella and can't believe they let her go. If they HAD to keep the bitch for the drama then someone else could easily have been sent home, Isabella's photo was not the worst one at all.
Oh, did you know that Tyra is SO tired because she's been the Goddess of Fierce for 2,752.7 years? And now someone needs to feed her some grapes. OMG, she is crazy.

Last night was interesting - another homage to the madness that is Tyra Banks. I didn't think she looked too bad in the gold dress, but the weird hair and the crooked headband seemed to a but much. The white toga dress just made her look like a blob.
I was sorry to see Isabella go, but not surprised.
I hope Tyra doesn't get rid of Aminat's hair though she will probably do something stupid like shave it all off and bleach the fuzz.
I am not overly impressed with any of the girls. The big eyed one is creepy looking. The one with the scars has a gorgeous face; the scars didn't bother me much, but the fact that she didn't have a belly button did, plus her proportions seemed off to me. Sandra is a b!tch - which just ensured that she will be around until the top 6 regardless of how bad her walk and/or pictures are.
Nigel looked yummy as ever and I love Paulina. Who knew Ms. Jay was 6'5"?

Nigel looked yummy as ever and I love Paulina. Who knew Ms. Jay was 6'5"?
Indeed! The older I get, the better looking Nigel gets. ;)
The girl with the big eyes bothers me because she has big eyes, a rabbitish overbite, and really terrible hair. That's way too much oddness in one model. I guess they can fix her hair during the makeover.
Sandra is the new Dominique, totally arrogant and totally clueless.
The girl with the scars should have gone home, imho. Not because of her scars, but because she doesn't have a model's face or body shape. And the London girl has the biggest hips I've ever seen on a non-plus size model. And yes I know how ridiculously catty I am. lol.
And Aminat's face and bone structure remind me of Danielle and that's a good thing.
TinkerbellAPixie

Actually - I was thinking that in the group photo at the end - they even posed Aminat in Danielle's pose.

Was I the only one that actually felt sorry for Angelea?
I can't help but feel Ty-Ty played her, raised her hopes just to have them crash for a little drama.
Besides, it's not like they have never had a tranny hood rat before (coughjaslenecough).
While I do like Celia.......she kinda has that uppercrust jawclenching faintly inbred look to her. I can't imagine that she will photograph well.
As for scar girl.....admire her tenacity but come on. Modeling is all about physical perfection. It has nothing to do with being nice, or having a good cause. Maybe she could walk in the shows that like to make the girls look ugly (the two boys who tend to make club wear come to mind) but she will never get mainstream work in either print or runway. As with Angelea, Tyra is setting up someone for a fall.

I think the bug-eyed girl is cute. Definitely the most striking of this bunch. Bet she'll be hot after her makeover too. I agree that Fo ain't bad either.
The burn-scar girl just should not be on this show. But she's this year's transexual, so she'll stay around for a while.
The rest of them don't stand out much. The 'old' chick got really annoying really quickly, I hope she cuts that out. And of course I hope they get rid of the jesus freak real fast too, even if she's really pretty. Well, actually, I'm not convinced-- I think she's faking the jesus thing, it's an act to keep her around, seeing as how there's nothing model-like about her. At least I hope it's an act. Shame to see a cute girl go to waste like that.

Ok, I FINALLY watched ANTM (the flu, midterms and both jobs kept me back). Few things:
-Is it just me or is the drama more contrived this season?
-The girl from Kentucky made me cringe (why must they always find the wackos to represent our state?)
-Preacher girl is much less of a "Jesus freak" than I thought she would be. Maybe she.s living by the tenant that a Christian should be a living example of Christ, and not cram dogma down someone.s throat. I can get down with that.
-The burn girl has amazing self esteem, and I.m glad to see a woman who embraces her body...but she chose a career that just won.t work with her flaws. It would be like me going into counseling...no one would win.
-Tyra has cracked, and I love it.
-Flo...another half Mexican girl out there! Love her! We.re half sisters!
And the rest...meh...except for the bitchy one.

Usually the makeover episodes are great, but only one girl cried this time... And she's been crying since she got there. I miss the meltdowns like we got the first few seasons. I want to see girls tell the camera that all they've ever wanted is to be a model and they'll do anything to make it, and then say they're gonna quit when someone wants to cut their hair. Way to stick to your goals, you vapid whores.

So is it just me or did they do the makeovers really early this season? don't they usually wait until the 3rd or 4th episode?
I was glad Sutan got to do something makeup related... when you think about it, he should play a part in those segments since he IS the make up guy!

they also rerun the episodes on friday nights.
makeovers seemed like they went by pretty fast - except for the stupid tyra messages for each girl. besides fo, there didnt really seem to be alot of drama over the end results. maybe the girls have finally learned... only took 12 seasons!
the photo shoot was interesting. i think it would be hard to pose & remember the clothes & remember to smile w/your eyes & light yourself. but really the only difference between that & a normal shoot was the lighting yourself part. so maybe it wouldnt be as hard... i thought jessica looked like shit during the shoot and i'm glad she went home. there were a few others that i thought did really bad too - kortnie, sandra, nijah.

That was the lamest idea for a shoot - dress them up look hookers, stick them in a pile of rubbish and hand them light wands. LAME.

This show really is all about indulging Tyra and her whims - and it's getting more and more difficult for me to watch her.
I really thought she was overly hard on that girl a few seasons back who didn't cut her hair and went home. She went on and on about it then and she had to go and show a clip of it again last night, this many seasons later and she still can not let it go. How dare anyone have the nerve to stand up for themself and blindly not give in to the Holy Goddess of Fierce. (btw, does anyone know if Tyra has ever had to chop all her hair off and have it bleached? ever?)
Honestly, Tyra, Mr. Jay and (I hate to say this) my formerly beloved Nigel are really starting to seem more and more like the mean girls in high school. I don't feel like you get constructive criticism from them anymore. It's more picking people apart and making fun of weaknesses.
I thought Mr. Jay was there to help with photo shoots but as the years go by he becomes more the little bitch at the shoot who picks on the girls and then runs tattling to Mommy Tyra.
And I hate that I feel this way because I really used to like Mr. Jay and Nigel. (sigh)
Oh and did you notice in the group shot at the end that they have hidden burn scar girl in the very back of the group? So much for thinking she was beautiful in her own skin Tyra. They really just use these girls to get press (hello transvestite, you too ugly twins) and once the show gets attention for the gimmicks they throw the gimmick girls to the curb.
Ok - rant over....

I don't think any girl looks especially improved. Absolutely no 'wow' factor for any of them. Granted, I just looked at their stills on cwtv, but still --- no stars in this bunch.
I will say that I am happy that sandra got the short 'pixie'...it not only does nothing for her, it actually makes her look ugly. Karma!
Has anyone seen the Bravo show 'make me a supermodel'? Those people actually look like models -- much more so then this bunch, or really any of the casts of ANTM. I wonder why Bravo is getting a higher caliber of model wannabes? Maybe Tyra doesn't like actual competition on her show? Hmm...

I've only watched the previous season, so I'm new at this show. But this season really has the feeling that it's more like "Who Wants to Play Pretend Super Model" .
Maybe it's because Tyra et al are finally resigned to the knowledge that they never actually create any true working models from this show.
I guess that's why next season is going to be short girls. It's all just an excuse to play dress up, isn't it?
I liked the Popeye girl before, I really like her now. Grrrrowwlll!

Well, I was disappointed in this episode. The makeovers were bad, just bad. London looked so much better with darker hair; I like the short cut, but the color with her skintones is awful. Same goes with Sandra. That bleachy color on her just washes her out. I think Aminat looked much better with the afro rather than the long hair, it seems to pull her down somehow. Ms. Jay putting her hair on and wearing it as a shawl was disgusting. If the fro she had was so bad, then why not replace it.
I thought Fo looked so good at judging. I liked her picture too. I thought it was bogus that Tyra called her in the bottom two just to make a point. Her pic was much better than some of the others.
I don't even know the name of the girl who went home, but she was a good choice. She looked awful at the photoshoot and her picture was bad. I think the next to go should be the homegirl that Trya gave the bleachy/red hair too. (She was wearing that neon green dead muppet at the photoshoot); she just doesn't look model at all to me.
I agree Tink - it is just getting to be mean girls around there. I have been catching some early seasons on Oxygen on Sundays. Tyra used to do so much more with the girls; things like talking to them about contracts, portfolios and presentation. Plus the makeovers and photoshoots were so much more flattering to the girls.

Now that you mention Jessica, the one sent home, it reminds me of a thought i had.
Ever notice how Tyra seems to make a mission out of taking the "pretty girls" and knocking them down a few pegs? It's like she has a major chip on her shoulder against them.
I thought Jessica was much more striking with her normal black hair. The red highlights just dulled her beauty.

The only makeover I was really impressed with was big-eyed girl (I don't want to call her that, but I really can't remember her name). I was really amazed at how well her new 'do balances her eyes out more. And the makeup on her at the shoot made it even more impressive.
I thought the girl they didn't do anything to was set up. I think if she had said "ok, I trust you, go for it" they would have built a segment out of "stand up for yourself!" but because she didn't want them to cut it they built a segment out of "trust us!" I think she was screwed either way.
And I agree completely with the "mean girls" ANTM theory.

Tyra LOVES to make the pretty girls look like crap and the weird girls look amazing cause she's still pushing that whole ugly-pretty thing that she started with giant-chin-brooke a few seasons ago!
You know what I really don't like.... how they shoot the girls right after their makeovers with all that wind on them! It makes their hair look so crappy and stringy! Most of it doesn't move cause most of them just got weaves put in (Tyra LOVES her a nice weave!). And I wish Tyra would stop pulling names out of a hat as to who the girls will "look like" because I've never looked at any of them and thought "oh yea that looks exactly like Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby!"

That's exactly what I thought, Tink, that they looked like hookers. And it was LAME. So lame. And boring to watch.
Maybe it's because Tyra et al are finally resigned to the knowledge that they never actually create any true working models from this show.
This is true for the most part, but Elyse Sewell is working her butt off, mostly in Asia, as a very high fashion model who is totally in demand. I can't remember what cycle she was on but of course, she didn't win. Tyra probably hated her, too!

Did every hear about the chaos that ensued in NYC during the casting call? Apparently they all thought there was a car that had a bomb.
here's the Youtube clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbtNyTfTlhQ
Here's the news story:
Three people were arrested and six others hurt Saturday after fighting and a stampede broke out while thousands waited to audition for "America's Next Top Model" in Manhattan, police said.
Police didn't know what prompted the chaos outside the Park Central New York hotel in Manhattan. But witnesses spoke of a smoking car moving toward the crowd that some thought held a bomb, the New York Post and New York Daily News reported.
The subsequent panic -- described as a stampede -- left the street outside the hotel littered with shoes and clothing, according to news reports.
Three people were arrested on disorderly conduct charges, police said. Authorities also shut down the audition, saying it wasn't properly organized.
Witnesses described the environment as brimming with tension as up to 10,000 would-be models lined up outside the hotel.
"I had to pee in a cup and change my clothes in the street," Mona Knight, 18 told the Daily News. "There was no organization whatsoever."
Another wannabe model told the News of fighting that broke out between two men, one of who threatened to return with a gun. Next a BMW with smoke coming out of its hood approached the crowd.
"The metal barricade fell down. All of a sudden we heard this roar from behind us and we looked behind us and there's a wave of people falling on top of us," Kiara McCarthy, 19, told the News.
Four injured people declined treatment, while two others were taken to a hospital, the fire department said. Their conditions weren't immediately available.
The phone rang unanswered at the hotel. Representatives for The CW Network, which airs the show, released a statement saying it was working with authorities investigating the incident.
The model competition is hosted by supermodel Tyra Banks, who also serves as its executive producer. The current season began March 4.
Her agent and publicist didn't immediately return telephone calls.
Banks has said she created the show to counter stereotypes about beauty, and Saturday's auditions were open only to women no taller than 5-foot-7, which is shorter than the industry's conventions.
Tryouts also were being held this month around the country, including in Dallas, Chicago and Los Angeles.
At least one would-be contestant in the New York throng said the tumult wouldn't stop her from trying again. "This is my dream, so I'm not going to give up," Gifty Asika told WNBC-TV.

Another article I read said that the girls were all tense and frayed from sleeping on the street and that there was no organization so when other girls started showing up in the morning they would just line up wherever and the ones who slept there got all mad and then the thing with the guy saying he'd come back with a gun and the smoking car happened.

Well, that was a boring and pointless episode. My son is home from college and was watching with me and his comments were as follows:
1) Damn - these girls are ugly.
2) Damn - these girls are stupid.
3) Damn - these girls have no class.
4) Damn - that big eyed girl is creepy and she has no chin.
5) Damn - I think Tyra has lost it.
I think you get the point - he was not impressed and I have to agree. I didn't get the photoshoots; the Wall Street girls maybe, but the rest of them had nothing to do with what they were supposed to be portraying. Especially the nanny ones. The judges don't make any sense either.
When are they going to quit doing group shots? I don't remember group shots for every photoshoot in past episodes. Plus they said they were going to crop Ceila out of the shot for Sandra's win - how are they going to do that without making the shot look stupid?

I have to take back what I said before about Tahlia not being a model, her picture was the best this week.
And I guess Celia should get points for being brave and not just talking about Tahlia behind her back. She said what she was planning, and she actually followed through. It was really stupid to do it when Tahlia had the best pic of the week.lol.
I love Benny Ninja! I wish he was a permanent judge on panel instead of Miss J. Did anyone catch what he said to the girls before the challenge? Something about "Go get your hair did, and ...." I missed the part about their face.

Benny Ninja saved my life! I love him so much, and the rest of the episode what kind of blah without him.
I did like the old camera, and the concept was cool. What I don.t understand though, is if they were all supposed to be looking the same way why didn.t Jay say something? Half the girls aren.t looking at the camera.

That's exactly what I was thinking, lennonwhore - why didn't Mr. Jay tell the girls to face the camera - it makes me think maybe he didn't know.
How could he praise London for doing a great job and then she gets ripped apart at panel -- can everyone be on the same page please?! I love my London and don't want her going home over some BS!!
And Celia - girl! What was she thinking?! She should just focus on herself and doing the best she can in the competition. It would have been one thing if Celia was in the bottom two since it would have been a last ditch effort. But she was safe and Kortnie was and is not a model - she was not going to win and left at the right time in my opinion.
There are several weak girls still in this competition and I’m sure Tahlia will go soon enough — she simply doesn’t have the confidence she needs. Celia should have realized this — oh well, now she has to deal the wrath of Tyra. Which was totally chilling — no one and I mean, NO ONE tells the Tyra what to do…. :)

What does Tyra hate more - a quitter or a snitch?
Celia would have been better off if she had told Tyra, a judge or one of the J's before panel that Tahlia wanted to go home. That way Tyra could have questioned her before selecting who was still in the running to become America's next top model.
I think Tyra was angry at Celia because Tyra looked like a fool and not because Celia was a snitch because Tyra would have jumped all over the fact that someone wanted to quit if she had known about it before panel.

Am I totally crazy or did I actually hear Mr. Jay say, "Benny is going to give it to me in the back?" It wasn't what he meant, of course, but it sounded really dirty.

I think Celia's intentions were good, but I think she should have considered how it was going to look to the judges. Kortnie was very friendly and popular with the girls, Thalia is not. It looked like Celia was jealous that Thalia was best of the week and that her friend was going home. I agree she should have pulled the judges aside before judging.
As an aside, I thought the funniest part of this week's ep was the past model spotlight on April from Cycle 2. It was hilarious when they listed appearing on Cycle 9 as an expert as one of her credentials and as proof that she is a success since the show aired. I guess that Bianca, Chantal and Tocarra can add their illustrious appearances this cycle to their resumes. They will be SO IN DEMAND after casting agents hear about that!!

What I want to know is why Celia didn't just say something to Thalia about it. Heaven knows the girl whines about not wanting to be there enough, Celia could have just taken one of those opportunities to say to her - either quit and go home or shut up about it. Bringing it up in front of Tyra like that just didn't make any sense at all - all it did was piss Tyra off and make Celia look petty, not a good move on her part.
I was glad to finally get a photoshoot where the girls posed by themselves - but Bennie Ninja as the husband? LOL He looked more like one of the kids since he is so much shorter than all the girls. But these were pretty bad as a whole. I will keep watching, and I will keep hoping that someone will get it together and start taking some good pictures soon.

So - is anyone sad to see Sandra go?
*crickets*
Yeah, I didn't think so.
I did think the whole thing with Celia being in the bottom two was bogus - if she deserves to be there because of her picture and/or performance in the challenge, then fine, but not to prove a point.
I missed the challenge portion of the program since my tv was being strange, but I did catch the photoshoot. I liked the concept of doing the closeups with the colors - but how exactly do you "model the color"? Poor London, her blue color was not placed well - it looked like she had a bloody nose, only blue. I do think part of the issue with Sandra's photo was the placement of the white paint and that fringe on her head, but the picture was still bad anyway you looked at it.
I don't get Natalie's appeal - to me she is kind of chubby for a model and not all that interesting, plus I don't think she takes make-up well. I keep expecting Aminat to look better in her pictures than she actually does. I find her looks to be really striking, but her photos to be rather dull. I think she had a good picture this week, but I think that had more to do with the make-up and photographer than with her.
The opposite is really true for me with Teyona. I don't find her interesting at all, but most weeks her photos just blow me away. She takes make up really well, and can change up how she looks from week to week - right now she is my front runner for the win.

Was anyone surprised that Sandra didn't think she deserved to be eliminated? She is better than all the other girls after all.
I like the photo shoot this week, and I adored Fo's picture. Some of the colors were definitely more difficult to express like orange and purple, I don't think I've ever felt purple in my life.
I agree with lester about Natalie, her face is very full not many angles which is definitely not modely.
It was nice to see Tahlia and Celia sit down and discuss what happened rationally. It doesn't make for exciting tv, but I'm sure it's better for their sanity in the long run.

I totally agree. Celia got such great reviews/praise during her photoshoot and at juding. But Tyra had to prove a point is lame.
I really think Allison should have been in the botoom 2. The judges are right...she has the same look week after week. I know they say that about London but she at least tries during her photo shoots. Allison just sits there and stares. :huh2:

Okay - why is it that I can not see this huge, awful, horrible weight gain that London has suffered? Seriously, she looks the same to me. That being said - I thought her picture was so much better than either Allison's or Aminat's. They both just stink.
Poor Ciara - did you see her cringing away from Aminat by the door? I felt so bad for her.
This whole thing that Tyra has done the last few cycle's with announcing that they are going overseas and then kicking someone off is really cruel. Why not wait until you have finished panel and then tell the remaining girls that they are going overseas? Why shove this opportunity in someone's face and then take it away. What a bitch move.
I am still liking Teyona for the win. She is the only one who consistantly delivers quality pictures, plus you don't hear much of anything from her, she just kind of quietly sits there doing her thing. Aminat should go next, followed by Allison, then Natalie, then Celia with Fo coming in second.

I loved when Allison told the guest judge he was her favorite photographer and Nigel was sitting right next to him. Too funny!
I really like the challenge this episode, I thought the girls did a pretty good job with styling and editing. Teyonna totally deserved the win, Celia looked great.
Poor London, she must only gain weight on her ass and hips. The rest of her looked the same. Her picture was really boring, her face had no expression at all. Do they even have a treadmill in that apartment for the girls? How are they supposed to stay thin when they mostly just sit around all day waiting for challenges and photo shoots?

To make matters worse... the real reason London gained all that weight was because she was recovering from two eating disorders.
Story courtesy of E! Online
America's Next Top Model contestant London Levi admits that her weight gain during the course of the show is what led to her elimination last night. But what she didn't say much about on the show is that her weight gain came on the heels of a battle with anorexia and bulimia.
"When I went to the competition, I was recovering from an eating disorder, so my self-confidence was already kind of shaky because of my experience with my problem beforehand," London tells us exclusively. "And, I'm pretty sure it did show in my photo shoots."
On why she was eliminated instead of Aminat, who was in the bottom two with her, London says, "If you looked at the two of us, here you have someone who’s 5 feet 9 inches and who had gained, like, 15 pounds, and then you have someone [Aminat] who’s six feet and about 110 pounds," continues London. "So in my personal opinion, it was just kind of obvious to the judges who would move on just by photographs."
London says she has suffered from eating disorders from junior high through shortly before America's Next Top Model started. "I never realized how long I’d had it until I talked to someone professionally," she says. "But it never got supersevere until my senior year in high school, which was actually just this past year. This past year up until right before I went on to the show is when it got most severe."
Clearly, judge Jay Manuel wasn't aware of London's issues. On last night's episode, during a photo shoot, Jay pulled London aside to talk about her obvious weight gain. "Where I'm really shocked, it's not just the fact that she's gained weight, it's the fact that as a model you're expected to treat your body like a temple," he said.
"It's a sensitive thing," he continued, "but it's something I have to talk about. It just really shocked me today seeing such a huge change physically. When you're in a competition I understand there's stress and people react to stress differently; it's just clear that you're not taking care of your body in a short period of time, and if this is tough, how are you going to deal with it in the modeling world?"
London's response: "My body just keeps gaining weight, and it really is freaking me out because I don't feel comfortable at this weight. Coming into this, I felt a lot more confident, a lot more beautiful, and I just need to lose weight in a healthy way."
Moving forward, London says she plans to continue modeling, but being photographed isn't her life's goal. "I’ve always felt called to be a youth minister, which I really hope is in God’s plan," she adds. "At the same time, I also have all these other agendas about acting. I’ve always acted in theater throughout my childhood and teen years, so acting sounds terrific to me. But eventually I would love to end up being a youth minister and just carrying that on."

Well, that explains it. Her body was in starvation mode for the last few years, and as soon as she started eating it went directly to her hips and butt. I can't believe she just graduated high school last year, that's so young.

Thanks for posting that, el.eh...poor little London! I just loved her on the show and am very sad to see her go this soon -- overall I think she's done a better job than Aminat and should have stayed at least another week.
It seems like London was really overlooked this cycle in panel -- she would almost always receive good praise from Jay during the photoshoots and then get ripped apart at panel. And to totally dismiss her because she gained a bit of weight is BS!
Tyra is such a hypocrite -- it's obvious she doesn't give a crap about these girls because if she did, she would make sure they had access to exercise equipment -- she preaches how you need to take care of yourself and lose weight the healthy way but she's sure as hell not gonna help you do it...but she will expect you to be magically pin thin........some "role model"!!

It is interesting to watch the early cycles (on Oxygen on Sundays, they will run an entire season) and to see how differently Tyra interacted with them as opposed to now.
In some of the early seasons the girls had a trainer who pulled them out of bed and made them workout daily. Now they just sit around and bitch at each other and stuff their faces all day. I know they edit the shows - but seriously, do you ever see a picture of them at the house when they are not eating something?

I totally agree!! And for someone who claims to be so supportive of 'plus sized' models, she certainly did everything she could to get rid of a girl who gained some weight.
Why not try helping her out a little??

I felt bad for London too, but what was she wearing at panel? And her hair. It did not look good slicked back, it looked too thick/heavy. I mean I am not skinny like her, but I have the good sense to know which hairstyle and clothes flatter my body and which ones do not. But I agree with everyone else, they were way too harsh on her at panel. I know I dont lose weight by sitting around, eating. Tyra should know better but she is too wrapped up in herself and her other projects.

Last nights episode was so annoying to me. So, the models were told to pose like Carmen Miranda. At panel they told Allison & Celia they didn't really pose like her and Fo was too much like her. Teyona did nothing to resemble her except for the fruit on her head, yet they liked her picture? I actually liked Allisons picture this week and so did Nigel, which is probably why she got called first. Aminat turned out the same crappy, boring photo and Natalie's wasn't the greatest but they sent her home? WTH. I didn't care for Natalie, but I think Aminat should have gone home. She is boring and has been in the bottom before. But Natalie gets sent home for what reason? I was glad she said that during the photo shoot she got nothing but praise. It looked like she wanted to slap Tyra at the end. Oh well. Tyra knows who she wants in the final so she doesn't care what order people go as long as the final is who she wants.

I totally agree, MelBell -- is Aminat already slated to win this cycle?! There is no good reason why she's still in the competition - and I honestly think she should have gone last week!
Granted, I didn't really like Natalie but again, Aminat's picture was the WORST and she's been in the bottom 2 before and her eyes are dead in EVERY picture!!!! I just don't get it! Yes, she's very, very thin and has a beautiful face but that's it....she can't convey anything in her photos! Ugh!
But I must say on a positive note, Allison is doing very well -- I really, really liked her picture from last night and she appears to be working (finally) on her facial expressions....if she can pull it together, she could easily win this thing! I think she's perfect for Cover Girl & Seventeen -- though I really like Fo (even if she is a bit immature).
Ooo...and I love that the panel is finally talking about how old Celia looks...and we all know that's the kiss of death so I doubt she'll make it too much further.

You know Tyra is obsessed with "ugly pretty girls." Teyona, Fo, and Allison have interesting faces, so they will probably make it to the end. I think that they are letting Aminat stick around until go-sees, because she has a fantastic body for runway. She is sort of built like those hanger-mannequins they put in windows, no? I still miss her afro, though.
natalie probably shouldn't have gone home, but I was tired of her talking about how rich she was... It's a recession, bitch! Show some tact! So now she has been recessed back to her mansion, and I say good riddance.

I'm from Sao Paulo and seeing those places made no want to go back there at all!
First of all, Carmen Miranda was from Portugal and not Brazil!
Second what was the purpose of Helo Pinheiro and that "amazing Race" to go buy her favorite flowers? just to promote the flower place?
Helo Pinheiro, the Girl From Ipanema, is from Rio de Janeiro, Ipanema is in Rio de Janeiro...The whole thing was confusing and stupid, IMHO!
Poor Natalie was looking forward for some sun bathing! I was LMAO when she kept looking outside and asking "where's the ocean". The closest thing to the ocean they have in downtown Sao Paulo is the Rio Tiete, an even dirtier version of the Hudson River! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3608/3312013993_966df9b91e_m.jpg
I loved the Capoeira, tho! But, again, that had nothing to do with photoshoot! And why, in God's name, submit the girls to go to a stinky favela??..what's the relation between Helo Pinheiro, Carmen Miranda, Capoeira and favela?

Well, well, well, I was really surprised Fo was sent home instead of Celia. Usually the "not fresh" edit is the kiss of death on this show.
The go-sees were entertaining as always. Poor Allison was so nervous she was painful to watch. Teyonna and Aminat were really impressive, those girls have the perfect runway bodies.
How tiny were the bikinis for the photo shoot? Dental floss and some juice boxes would have more coverage!
Allison's photo was really good, she finally realized she can squint her eyes and make them look different. Aminat's photo was a snoozefest, she has no idea how to pose. Fo's picture was just angular and weird, and not in a good way. I don't remember Teyonna's photo at all, so I must not have liked it. Nigel was his usual sexy self during the beach shoot. When he was showing Celia how to pose, he was 150% better than the models on this cycle.
And what the hell is going on with Tyra's weave? Why was that one piece in front perpendicular to her head?

I also wonder what is up with Tyra's clothes at judging. Every week she wears a weird, secretarial ruffly satin blouse and a high wasted pencil skirt. It's not flattering to her body type AT ALL.

I totally agree angiemarie - I thought for sure, based on last week's comments, that Celia would be going (or maybe I was just hoping she'd go since her face just has an older look about it, meaning she doesn't look youthful or fresh).
Regardless, I think Fo was slipping a bit and her picture was rather awkward but you'd think she'd have had a better shot than that....oh well.
Still can't believe Aminat is still in the running -- yes, she has an awesome body but she can't take a good picture to save her life...emote girl...damn! I looked back through all her pics and only 1 of them was good (the beauty shot with paint or whatever that was)......if she makes it to the final 2, she could easily win since she has a GREAT runway walk.
I hope Teyona & Allison are F2 but I feel like Teyona will win even though Allison is perfect for Seventeen & Cover Girl but her walk is atrocious!
And Tyra's outfits have been strangely consistent and (as usual) not very flattering this cycle - why so formulaic, T-bo?! I saw a pic of her from the other day outside a courthouse and she looked SO CUTE! Why doesn't she always wear an a-line skirt -- so flattering!

My guess is they let Celia stay because she has the confidence that Fo doesn't. They made a point of saying if she walked into the room as if she were 6ft tall that her height wouldn't be such an issue. Who knows. However, there had to have been a better picture of Fo than the one they chose to use at panel.

This one surprised me a bit - I too was expecting Celia to go, or Aminat, who really, really needs to not be here any longer. I have to think that Tyra deliberately chose a bad photo of Fo because that one could not have been her best shot.
They kept going on and on about how short Fo is, but standing next to Allison at judging the two of them looked the same height. But really, if she is too short to win, then why the hell did Tyra pick her in the first place?
I concur - about all the statements of the tiny bikini's (which Allison does not have the body for!) and Tyra's weird hair and wardrobe. I too wondered about the horizontalness of that front piece of hair.

They kept going on and on about how short Fo is, but standing next to Allison at judging the two of them looked the same height. But really, if she is too short to win, then why the hell did Tyra pick her in the first place?
Don't you pay attention at panel? It's Fo's fault for not walking like a tall girl even though she's a short girl.

So Celia is finally gone - they've been setting up her departure for weeks now. To comment about her funny mouth this far into the competition seemed so contrived. She has the same mouth (and age for that matter) that she had during the auditions.
Not that I mind her being offed, she always seemed too fake for my liking and I find her eyes and eye sockets to be creepy in a Joan Rivers post-op kinda way.
I thought Allison looked darling in the birds nest. And props to Tyra for the very cool and atmospheric shots. Now that I'm taking photography more seriously I can really appreciate how great her photos were - even if she annoyed me during each shoot.
And did anyone think her shoot outfit was tragic? That purple shirt, black belt, black leggins combo only emphasized her gigantic ass.
I am over Tyonie or whatever her name is. And frankly I'm not that fond of Aminat either. She's got great skin and a great body but her face - and particularly her eyes - do NOT photograph well. And this is a modeling competition - aren't photos kinda important in modeling?

I agree with everything you said, Tink, especially about Tyra's photo shoot outfit. That hot mess screamed 1989 high school outfit.
Allison's picture was adorable, definitely the best of the bunch. I thought Celia's photo was pretty good. Both Teyonna's and Aminat's pictures were pretty dull. I thought Teyonna definitely had the worst shot and should have been in the bottom two.
How condescending and awful was Tyra's "speech" to Celia at the end. Oh, we think you'll do great in fashion, but not as a model. I think Celia is perfect for runway when you're walk is more important than looking "fresh".

I agree - Celia does have a great walk. And - I just Googled to see how old Tyra was when she "quit" modeling. She was 32. And Cindy Crawford is STILL modeling and she's over 40. So someone who is 25 definitely has some modeling years left in her.

i have no clue who will win this thing - probably teyona. allison has been taking awesome pictures recently but her runway is terrible. aminat walks well but her pictures suck. teyona is pretty good at both so thats why i'm thinking she'll win. although i'd love for allison to win!
of course the cg commercial next week could screw all of them so we'll see. has anyone else mckey hasnt really had alot of my life as a covergirl commercials? and when they do show one, she's hardly in it. she must be sucking since the competition.

McKey has had one every week. Though they are pretty short and weird. I prefer the "Top Models in Action" commercials.

AC--McKey is one of the worst winners ever, in my opinion (I was and still am an Analeigh fan)...so I turn to American Idol every time her MLAACG ads come on. She talks out of half her mouth, and talk about not looking fresh! She's only 20 for heaven's sake!!!

Rach i agree! and i wanted analeigh to win that season too! she was WAY prettier and more covergirl material (in my opinion)

I agree with both of you! LOVED Analeigh! She is the epitome of Cover Girl, and she could actually talk.

I just read that ANTM has fired Paulina!
She said they told her they needed to cut some fat - I could go for the obvious joke here about Tyra, but since my Mom taught me to say only nice things, I won't.
I was kind of sorry to see Celia go. I know she wasn't going to win the thing, but all in all, she takes much better pictures than Aminat and she presents herself better as well.
I would guess that Allison and Teyona end up final two, with Teyona winning since Allison can't walk worth a darn. I still don't get her appeal at all (Allison's) and that weave on her head is awful. You would think when the stick something like that on a girl's head, they would give her some sort of instructions on how to take care of it. It just looks like a dirty mop.

I just read that too! They're also telling her (Paulina) that she has "ego problems". ooookay.....
angiemarie

Um, Paulina has ego problems? She's not the one that makes every modeling situation about her.
When I was shooting with Steven Meisel ....
When I was 17 and in Paris on my own ....
When another model (you always know she means Naomi Campell) was sabotaging me .....
Talk about projecting your actions on someone else!
I'm sorry to see Paulina go, but maybe this leaves the door open to bring back Janice I'm-a-walking-trainwreck Dickinson.

Well, well, well. Miss wind in the face Teyonna won, no big surprise. Ho-hum.
What was surprising is how well Allison did during the runway show. She improved a lot, bless her ghoulish little heart. I was also surprised at how good her Cover Girl photo was, she actually looked commercial.
How about those Brazilian models that were in the show? Hubba-Hubba! They made the ANTM girls pale in comparision. The runway show was pretty good until they started crawling down the runway in that grease or whatever that was. That was just icky looking. Teyonna whipping her fallen out weave was hilarious.
I didn't enjoy this season as much as I usually do I think because I never picked a favorite. It's much more fun when you're rooting for someone.

Allison should have won - hands down!
But it all has to be about Tyra, so windy-faced Teyona had to win so Tyra could gloat about it (which she did) -- again, T-bo makes it all about herself...UGH! UGH! UGH!
Regardless, Allison will easily be a very successful model - her look is unique and she's really improved! Can't wait to see what she does in the future! :)

I picked Teyona to win it all in Fantasy ANTM but I would have been happy to be wrong. Unfortunately, I wasn't. Allison improved so much and really did a great job in the last few photo shoots and the runway show. I am sure she has a successful future as a model if she wants it. I am trying to decide whether I'll watch the next cycle. This one was pretty boring and I am SO over Tyra and her enormous . . . ego. I missed a few episodes and never even cared to go back and watch them and when Miss J. decided to chirp like a bird I actually felt angry with him for insulting my intelligence. So, I'll have to see how compelling the previews are next time around.

Paulina is giving the dish on Ms. Tyranosaurus (http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00024322.html).
I liked Paulina, but she should have known not to step on Ms. Tyra's toes. No one's time is more valuable than The Ego's!!!

I wasn't surprised to see Teyona win, IMO she was the better of the two models. I thought Allison looked better at final panel than I had ever seen her - something about her eye makeup that made her eyes not look so buggy, but I still never got her appeal.
It was interesting at final panel when they were comparing the two portfolios. They kept showing Allison's pictures and talking about how great she was and how they knew she would go far and I kept wondering when exactly they knew that cuz they sure didn't say those things during the cycle judging.

I've been watching the Australian version of this show (what? I'm not supposed to watch a show filled with beautiful women?), it's much better, if only because it hasn't had its soul sucked dry by the likes of Tyra Banks (although I find her amusing).
The girls in Australia are all way more beautiful than this crop -- they're all pretty believable as potential models. And they're also a lot younger, seems like most are 16 (going on 25, of course), which would be the more appropriate age for starting a modeling career.
Oh yeah, and the Australian version is mercifully free of Jays, miss or otherwise.

Well, well, well. Miss wind in the face Teyonna won, no big surprise. Ho-hum.
That's what kind of ruined the finale for me - because it was such a foregone conclusion that she would win. I knew it didn't matter how well Allison performed. Which Sucks.
Teyonna whipping her fallen out weave was hilarious.
I thought that looked super slutty - like some sort of trashy stripper move. Then again - the whole writhing around in mud was pretty porny too so who am I to complain. I just felt like - if it wasn't their pick to win doing those moves they probably would have complained about it.
Allison should have won - hands down!
I totally agree. She was phenomenal in the last few episodes and her transformation on the runway was nothing short of miraculous.
Oh yeah, and the Australian version is mercifully free of Jays, miss or otherwise.
That alone makes it worth the price of admission. I used to love Mr. Jay - but now I just think he's a mean girl and Miss Jay is a hot mess.

Allison should have one. Teyona has probably the least amount of marketability of all contestants ever. Allison will go far.
