Was anyone else surprised when the one other turned out to be charles widmore?!?! i swear i looked at the name on his shirt and it was like "jones" or something so it caught me completely off guard. and charles widmore was funding daniel's time travel research and put him on the frieghter to the island. interesting... so why was widmore there to begin with? and why/how did he leave? and why is he hell bent on getting back there?

why do the others all speak latin?

and locke - so i guess richard goes to the hospital when locke was born to see if he was telling the truth and not because he was trying to recruit him. and the episode when richard went to locke's house and had him tell him which object was his - one was the compass right? i was trying to remember. i need to get the past seasons on dvd so i can refer back...

i loved this episode btw. i think every commercial break i was going "OMG WHAT?!" and then texting my sister to discuss how great the last part was.

How sweet that he and Penny have a little boy. And what a beautiful boy. Why do boys always seem to get the curls? And is he named after Charlie, or after his maternal grandfather?? I can't imagine the latter, but you never know.

I am getting a little tired of the flashes and VERY tired of angry, hostile people jumping out of the jungle with assorted weapons.

I hope Charlotte is all right. I don't really like her but Daniel loves her so much I hope she will be okay for his sake. I like him. Miles, not so much.

It's been suggested that Miles just might be Dr. Marvin Candle's son. (the dude in the Dharma videos). He's definitely the right age & gives him a reason to be there........

Since it's 1954, then Ben isn't even born yet either. Who knew. Charles Widmore is a dirty, filthy Other! He had to have been on that island quite a while. Ben doesn't even show up till the 60's when the Dharma dudes come to the island. Then Ben ends up wiping them all out & becomes the Other's leader. Charles must of not liked that.

Oh, I loved it when Juliet called them Others!

I thought Desmond's accent was a little off when he was talking to baby Charlie in the beginning, but that could just have been me.

Definitely makes more sense as to why Widmore is so interested in the island now that we know he's an other.

I wish they'd talk about Miles or kill him off because he's just a waste at this point. It looks like Charlotte does survive, but I agree that I'm not thrilled about keeping her on the show either.

OK, so I'm surprised that none of us thought of all the stuff that popped up last night, because it all makes sense in a weird way. As soon as Desmond found out Whidmore was funding Daniel's research, I was like "DUH. Of course!" Daniel was on Whidmore's freighter, after all. Whidmore being obsessed with getting back to the island because he was once there? Makes sense. [I'm going to take a guess and say he was exiled for doing something naughty.] And now Richard showing up in John's life throughout the years makes sense. Now if only I knew why the hell Farraday was on the island with the Dharma folk...

I love the idea of Miles being Dr Candle's son, chooch. Kudos to whomever came up with that one... hopefully they are right!

I let out a big "AWWWW" when Desmond called his son Charlie. :) And now our dear Des is off to LA, where the rest of the crew is already waiting... should be interesting.

P.S. kriskros- I thought the same thing about Desmond's accent in the beginning. He went way native with the accent there for a bit!! (Does anyone know if the actor is Scottish IRL?)

His mother is Peruvian and his father is Scottish. He was raised in Trinidad and Tobago and Scotland.

Chooch - I was hoping to listen to the show tonight, but little bugger wasn't cooperating with bedtime!! I listened in last week and thought it was good stuff, so hopefully next week my sone will cooperate and go to bed on time!!

Thank GOD for EW - they have become my sole source for Lost readin. I think Ack's photocaps are cute and all but I need to fill my head with in depth theories after each episode of Lost.

YES!!!! I knew he reminded me of someone. I guess Miles looks like what John would look like if his soul hadn't been completely crushed by his harridan wife.


Thanks for sharing all you theories, everyone, I really enjoy them. I'm not that imaginative, so I tend to just take everything at face value when I'm watching the show. It's kind of nice though, because when the twists happen (like Widmore being the soldier), I'm always completely surprised.

I never thought of that! Could explain why they bothered putting that whole bit in there.

I'm still really curious to know about Daniel being on the island with the dharma folks before. Maybe we'll get some more clues about that soon.

It's sad to think that there are only a finite amount of episodes left to go! Sad... but at the same time I'll be relieved when everything is explained (hopefully!)
