Oh Wow! I love this episode. I didn't want it to end. The bible references were pretty blatant. I think it's all connected to John 3:16 in the Bible... think about it. John Locke, the new flight is 316... "for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believed in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Locke as JC is a tad "out there", but it sure makes for a good story. And next week, we get to see what caused John to hang himself.

......and do you think Ben got beat up trying to get to Penny?

My favorite quote for the night:

"How can you read?"
"My mother taught me."

(even though his mother dies at his birth......hmmm)

i loved that line too chooch! and i totally didnt even think about the fact that his mom died at his birth! good catch!

i really liked this episode too. there wasnt a ton of action and there were alot of new questions but i thought it was very interesting. i was ready to kill Jack when he wasnt reading the letter. it drove me crazy all episode! so i was super glad that he finally read it at the end.

i still want to know what convinced hurley & sayid to get on the plane. although it looked like sayid was arrested but i still want to know why. and what happened to poor aaron? and whose taking care of sun's kid? are they going to be parentless now?

my sister also said she was afraid that ben went to go kill penny. which i didnt even think of as a possibility so it will be interesting to see how ben got all messed up.

I'm pretty sure Sun's mom is still taking care of her kid. But what happened to Aaron? That was weird.

I definitely think Ben tried to do something to Penny since he had "unfinished business" and he had given that warning to Widmore before.

At first I was all confused about the guitar and Sayid with that chick. But it seems like the guitar is Charlie's and the chick with Sayid is probably a US Marshall like Kate had the first time around. But how did those two know they had to recreate the original flight as best as possible?

Also who's that other guy that was in there with them? Is he going to be a regular? I've heard speculation that he's related to Ana Lucia and taking her place on the plane but there's not much in the show to really get that (right now anyway).

Did Frank also get sucked back to the island when they flew over? So did the plane crash in future since it seems that our losties are back in time to the dharma days?

Man, too many questions!!!

i forgot about frank flying the plane. i loved his "we arent going to Guam, are we?" line.

I thought that Ben also went to kill Penny... and/ or steal Desmond's son, since they need to replace Aaron. I didn't see any kids on the flight, though, so I guess that was a dumb idea.

I can't wait to see how Hurley got out of jail and why Sayid is going in! And seriously, WTF happened to Aaron?

When Jack spoke to the guy in the airport, I thought "Hooray! New tailey!" And I almost peed on myself when the captain's voice came over the intercom.

chooch- thanks for the insight into the Bible passage. I've missed church a lot recently *(like for the last 20 years), so I would never have caught that. :) Also- good catch on Ben's mom. I totally missed that one!

Locke... sigh... Locke. You have a chance to say anything you want as your last words, and it's a taunt? Sheesh. Even dead he's a victim. LOL

What about Jin at the very end when he drives up in what looks like a brand new Darmha vehicle and doesn't recognize anyone!

I thought the same thing, here4beer! Hold a grudge much, John? sheesh.

I thought Ben showed his true colors when Jack asked him "What happens to all the other people on the plane?" and Ben answered "Who cares?". Typical Other!

I figure it this way...... Locke stopped the island time skip in the 70's. Jin & the crew has had to blend in on the island with the Dharma people. This will explain why we saw Daniel at the construction site of the Orchid. He was working there. It also explains why Charlotte sees Daniel as an old man years later when she's a little girl telling her not to come back to the island. Makes me wonder about Ben. What year was it when Ben gasses every body?

Ben gassed everyone in the 90s, he was only a child in the 70s. I double checked on the lostpedia cause I wasn't so sure myself. But it seems in the 70s, when we are now with the losties, is when they started having trouble with the "natives"

Maybe that's why they picked to blend in with the dharma folk and not side with the natives.

But what happened to Aaron? That was weird.

OK these are theories only but - I think they took Aaron away from Kate since that was the ONLY thing tying her to stay off the island. I think she was heartbroken realizing she had nothing else to live for.

I definitely think Ben tried to do something to Penny since he had "unfinished business" and he had given that warning to Widmore before.

I think so too - especially since he said he had something to do for an old friend (or something to that effect). He had a debt to pay since Widmore had his daughter killed. Looks like Penny (or Desmond) put up a fight.

At first I was all confused about the guitar and Sayid with that chick. But it seems like the guitar is Charlie's and the chick with Sayid is probably a US Marshall like Kate had the first time around. But how did those two know they had to recreate the original flight as best as possible?

I don't think Sayid knew - I think Ben's people arranged to get him arrested to FORCE him on the plane with the bonus of having another police-type to fill in for Kate's Marshall. Also I don't think Hurly knew he should bring the guitar - I think he just did because it is a treasure to him. I think Ben's lawyer got Hurley out of jail and arranged for him to take this flight.

As for our pilot Frank - I worry for him, don't want him to meet the same fate as our last pilot (Matt Parkman).

I know - I'm doing a lot of theorizing which could all blow up in my face.

What about Jin at the very end when he drives up in what looks like a brand new Darmha vehicle and doesn't recognize anyone!

I think he recognized them once he saw there faces.

I thought Ben showed his true colors when Jack asked him "What happens to all the other people on the plane?" and Ben answered "Who cares?". Typical Other!

Yeah that Ben - you can always count on him to be really selfish.

Is it next Wednesday yet?

Parallels of the two flights......

Locke-- coffin-- Jack's dad
Hurley-- guitar-- Charley
Sayid-- handcuffs-- Kate
Sun-- wedding ring-- Rose
Jack-- letter from Locke-- Sawyer (letter from Locke's dad)
Kate-- pregnant (?)-- Claire (explains her & Jack's lovemaking day before)

Leaving Sun's kid & Aaron behind is more of a writer's decision don't ya think...... it would be awful hard to write two toddlers into the plot. Who would keep track of them on the island!

Why did Hurley only buy 78 seats? Why not all of them? Was it to have exactly 322 passangers?

Ben definitely tried to get to Penny. He called from a marina. Penny & Desmond live on the boat. Ben was all wet. Desmond kicked the hell outta him brotha & threw him overboard.

I think that Hurley bought all the remaining seats to save as many people as possible from being dragged into this mess.

 what in the WHAT? My DVR must have cut the end off! I didn't think I missed anything, but obvs I did. It cut off when Jack was talking to Kate... someone please tell me what I missed!!

that's what I thought, too, Tink.

chooch- Love the parallels!

I LOVED it that Hurley bought as many seats as he could to keep others from being in the plane crash (if the plane did indeed crash). That sounds just like Hurley. I love him! I think the other seats had already been sold so he couldn't buy those. Does this mean the rest of the Oceanic 6 and Ben bought their seats before Hurley did?

I am wondering if Frank is the pilot of this new flight because he was originally supposed to be the pilot of Flight 815 and wasn't. Is this the universe's way of "course correcting" a mistake that was made?? (Frank looks much better without all the icky facial hair, by the way!)

Jack and Kate having sex seemed very contrived to me. I didn't like that scene at all. I am wondering if Kate took Aaron to Clair's mom.

I sort of wish John's note to Jack said something like, "I was wrong. Whatever you do, don't go back to the island" and of course Jack read it after it was too late to stop. That was a dumb note and I waited all episode to see what it said. Lame.

So, Locke may be walking in Christian's shoes? Possibly interesting symbolism there!

Am I the only one who thought, for just one second in the first scene, that Desmond was angry about his "bloody porpoise" rather than purpose? I heard that line wrong and it just cracked me up afterward.

As Jack and Hurley are talking to Kate they hear someone coming, they hear a VW bus coming. It looks brand new or relatively new... basically not the crappy one they found in the jungle. Someone gets out and sees them, pan up, it's Jin in a new looking Dharma jumpsuit! I don't think there was anything to say whether he recognized them or not, I imagine he did but it was quick.

That was it, you didn't miss much but I HATE it when the DVR cuts off before the end!

I could remember wrong - and I'll check tonight when I get home since I never delete eps til I am sure I have seen enough. I think Jin got out of the new looking Van and raised a rifle aimed it towards Jack, Hurley and Kate in the lagoon but then lowered it when he saw them and his eyes got really wide.

Or did I dream that? It's possible? I was dreaming about Lost that night so I could be adding stuff myself.

No Tink I think you are right about the rifle. I wasn't super positive but I thought he had a gun too, but I was too afraid to say that and then have someone freak out on me that it didn't happen :)

Thanks! I'm sorry to say I didn't make it but I found that style of cartoon losties on the web and loved them! I'm a huge fan of Faraday... cause I'm a big nerd like him! hahaha

Also I don't know if anyone reads the EW.com recaps on Lost but they always have really good side notes on the meanings of people's names or places or books Ben reads... they do crazy research. Just thought I'd share that if anyone was interested in checking it out.

I started reading those last year and wish I'd found them sooner. I love that Doc Jensen as obsessed (if not more so) than we are. If I had to pick 5 people to have dinner with - he might be among them. I'd also include the Lost writers and then Sawyer and Jack for some after dinner fun. ;)

Jin totally had a gun, a big rifle. He was aiming it at the group until one of them, I think it was Hurley, said "Jin?" Then Jin, looking sort of confused, slowly lowered his weapon.

and don't worry, no one here is ridiculous enough to get upset about giving wrong info about a TV show. (at least I don't think so! lol)

I just rewatched the end - Jin aims the rifle at the trio, they all look stunned, Hurley says "Jin?" Jin lowers the gun and his mouth opens a little bit. Can't tell if he's surprised to see them or surprised that they know his name cuz he doesn't recognize them. It's kinda vague.
