About the book that Ben gave Sayid to read "A Separate Reality" by Carlos Castaneda. Here are some exerpts:

From
http://www.prismagems.com/castaneda/donjuan2.html,

There's many similarities to Ben's & Sayid's way of thinking and their actions as a whole:

"A warrior takes responsibility for his acts; for the most trivial of his acts. He waits patiently, knowing that he is waiting, and knowing what he is waiting for. That is the warrior's way."

"A warrior has only his will and his patience and with them he builds anything he wants."

"Once you decide something put all your petty fears away. Your decision should vanquish them. I will tell you time and time again, the most effective way to live is as a warrior. Worry and think before you make any decision, but once you make it, be on your way free from worries or thoughts; there will be a million other decisions still awaiting you. That's the warrior's way."

"A man who sees has no longer an active interest in his fellow men. Seeing has already detached him from absolutely everything he knew before."

"For a warrior there is nothing out of control. Life for a warrior is an exercise in strategy. But you want to find the meaning of life. A warrior doesn't care about meanings."

"A warrior is never idle and never in a hurry."

"A warrior should be prepared only to battle. His spirit is not geared to indulging and complaining, nor is it geared to winning or losing. The spirit of a warrior is geared only to struggle, and every struggle is a warrior's last battle on earth. Thus the outcome matters very little to him. In his last battle on earth a warrior lets his spirit flow free and clear. And as he wages his battle, knowing that his will is impeccable, a warrior laughs and laughs."

wait - is this a fact? cause i was debating last night whether little ben was really dead or not. either way sayid kicks ass! and i loved when he was all drugged up. Sayid gets the best lines btw. my favorite last night was when sawyer came in and asked how he was doing. "a 12 year old ben linus brought me a chicken salad sandwich..." i laughed so hard!

So last night DRAGGED on until those last few minutes! I was not expecting Sayid to shoot Ben! I wanted him to cause that's what would make sense plot wise, but I'm curious to see how it goes from here.

What will happen to our Sayid? Will he live with the others? But if he does then they will need to address why the others didn't know Sayid when he first came to the island in Season 1 if they knew he from the past. This time travel has to be difficult to write!

So true. I don't think there is a way to kill Ben, but I saw that coming a mile a way. Ben has super regenerative powers like John Locke, so he'll be just fine. I wonder, though, if this shooting will somehow connect to Ben's tumor as an adult? I also wondered why Sayid just didn't use Ben's "Henry Gale" line. He could have told them that he came here in a hot air balloon (assuming the balloon is on the island already).

Also, I love Ben's manipulative streak. He tells Sayid that Locke is murdered, but leaves out the key fact that HE was the one who did it. oops

Radzinsky is obsessed with the Swan- why? He's super annoying, which means he is destined to die in a horrible way soon.

Also--- I was doing a little light reading on LSD this morning because I assumed that was what Sayid took, and look at what I found!! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ram_Dass) Timothy Leary's research partner was named Richard Alpert. O_o Did anyone mention this before?

I love Sayid-centric episodes, especially when he does some ass-kicking.

I felt so sorry for 12 year old Ben when his Dad was being so abusive to him, no wonder he grew up to be such a jerk. :glare:

I was surprised that Sayid actually shot Ben, I thought he wouldn't be able to go through with it for some reason. I know Ben probably isn't dead, but wouldn't it be cool if he was? Everything would have to change, I would love to see all the ramifications of that.

And the weird scientist guy is the "Hi I'm Larry, this is my brother Daryll and this is my other brother Daryll" from the Newhart show. And he was also on Deadwood, which I think makes him the 4th cast member of Deadwood to make an appearance on Lost.

Radzinsky ends up in the Swan hatch with Kelvin. When Desmond shows up, he is mistaken for Radz's replacement. Kelvin shows Desmond a huge stain on the ceiling of the Swan & says that is what's left of him. He blew his head off.

(of course, that could all change now......)

hahaha, I was hearing that phrase in my head the whole time he was onscreen last night!

I remember. It's just that all the extremely annoying people die in horrible ways on this show (Nikki/ Paolo, Dr Arzt, Frogurt), so surely Radzinsky is next.
