Interesting challenge...Jeffrey's mom and Robert's sis are pretty hot.

What did Angela's mom just say to Jeffrey? "I feel like I'm going to cry. I feel like I'm (muffled) you." Anybody catch that?

Grrr! Argh! Bravo went out on me again. I just sent a sort of nasty letter to my provider (my third message to them) because the service sucks so bad.

LQ... I thought you didn't get Bravo? Weren't there a bunch of jokes about how Cox sucks? Or am I stoned again?

God I hope J-Unit does a screenshot of Kayne's mom struttin' the runway. Rewind it if possible, it's pretty humorous.

Dude! I can't even get real cable where I live (or internet, for that matter)! I'm missing a bunch of channels that my friends get. The apartment complex contracts with some company in Texas that "specializes" in apartments and condos so that's what I'm stuck with. I guess I could get satellite but I'm not sure my apartment faces the right direction.

Okay, I have to stay away from this thread until I can catch a rerun. I don't want to find out who went home, either.

My poor Uli was robbed! Vincent's wasn't better in my opinion but I know this will be the only time we see him win this season and Uli has many more to go. Her and Michael are by far my favorites and Kanye can get into that final three too.

How great was that awkward moment when Laura's mom found out she was preggers?!

Uli's dress was beautiful! I always love the hippie fabrics she picks out. I didn't really understand Vincent's. Kinda plain and I thought it made her seem bulky. I loved his attempts to communicate with Uli's German speaking mother. He has to be one of the most delusional people since Linda Weaver.

No, it's TVMax. Is Grande Commuciations sucky, too?

Okay, it's raining right now and that means that over half my channels will be out and/or full of static and now I have no hope of getting Bravo back any time soon. So who was auf'ed last night? It wasn't Uli, was it?!?

Yes he was a total asshole. I felt very bad for her...I mean, she was obviously self-concious to begin with; designers are suppsed to make their clients feel good about themselves as well as look good.

I'm with brutal youth on this one. Though I believe I called Angela's mother "a whiny twat" and that "I feel so bad for her husband". Is that right EdHill? Are you speaking to me yet? You better get new batteries for your vibrator cuz were still fighting. First of all Angelas mom did not sign up for the show. Shes a nice older overwieght lady from quote unquote Ohio. She didnt say anything untoward.Tim asked her about the colors and she said they werent her thing and Jeff got all ansty and attacked her. Granted my mom wouldnt have sat there and been told off by some loser junkie alocholic fuctard, but still. Jeff was just a dick. And his design, as usual, sucked ass.

Oh EdHill I am so with you on this one. It was like Jeff let his hatered of Angela to get the better of him and took it out on the Mom, which is uncool. I don't care how much of a jerk the kid is the Mom get special treatment.

His look was hideous and he made it completely for him and not for her. What he failed to do in this challenge other than make a nice dress was to incorporate what his client wanted. Sure he has to have his vision but it has to reflect that of the client as well, as a designer or 'artist' he should be able to blend the two.

I am quite annoyed, still as you can tell with him. But I am a bit annoyed in general with what I perceived as the general horror of actually designing for women that won't dissappear when turning sideways. But at the same time it was kind of funny to see the designers all talk about some of them being anything from larger than a model to seriously overweight. I guess they will not win this one in my opinion.

Does anybody remember the episode of the Cosby show where Theo wanted an expensive designer shirt that he couldn't afford, so Denise offered to make him a knock-off for a fraction of the price? And then the shirt came out all messed up. Well that's the first thing that popped into my head when I saw Jeffrey's design for Angela's mom.

I really thought Jeffrey was going to be auf'd, but then when the judges were discussing, they did another bad Trump style voiceover, where Heidi said that although Jeffrey's outfit was horrible, at least he had a point of view. I figured they wouldn't have put that in unless they were keeping him, so it sort of killed the suspense for me.

I can't believe noone has mentioned Michael Kors mom! How scary was that? The orange skin and everything! I loved when Michael said he could see the resemblance and referred to Kors as a momma's boy. That was the highlight of the show for me.

Kayne: loved his fat pictures, they were too funny, I would have killed my mother for doing that - {watching bonus footage on bravo there was a shot of kayne gettign ready in the bathroom in leopard pink bikini briefs, disturbing...}

Laura: HB--that was my favorite line of the show

Vincent's Win: bullshit, they just needed another reason to keep him around, dress was too simple, even Tim hates him

Robert: I love the way he talks, and his 'bitch sessions' with Kayne, but his clothes are not even remotley inspiring

Uli: robbed...love her designs, and so do several celebs already, ireally want of her dresses

Angela'mom vs Jeffrey: so we know the designers get to talk to family bc we saw michael speaking to his mother, so I am sure Angela had already told her mom prior to her arriving that there was a designer Jeffrey who has been mean to her, etc...her mom should have been more open to his designs, just rolled with it, but instead cried like a bitch. Yes, Jeffrey was an asshole, but he is an asshole(but didn't you see him crying about robert leaving, he has redeemed himself in my eyes) and maybe I'm a bitch, but I thouht it was hilarious that his mom had to go tell her to suck it up---its just fashion

the blogging project runway site has lots of interviews and good info-

I kept wanting Robert to do better & come up with more interesting and flattering outfits, but he kept coming up with crap. I don't disagree with him being auf'd...though I'd have been literally GLEEFUL if Jeffrey had been the one auf'd last night.

My teenage son was watching the show with me last night, and when Jeffrey's mom sat down next to Angela's mom and was defending Jeffrey...I turned to my son and said "What do you think that I would do in the same position?" He laughed and said "You'd tell me off for being a jerk, you'd make me go and apologize, and then YOU'd go over and try to make nice with Angela's mom." I went from liking Jeffrey's mom to despising her, and also recognizing that that's why Jeffrey is the way that he is (at least in part). He's got a mama who excuses his bad behavior.

Was Angela's mom a pill? Absolutely. But she didn't sign up for the show, her daughter did. And it had probably taken everything in her to agree to appear on the show (got that same feeling from a number of the ladies who were clearly VERY insecure and unhappy about the whole setup)...and then Jeffrey puts her into something as hideous as that, and is completely disrespectful to her? Sorry, that wasn't cool. Robert was almost as bad, IMO. And I think that the woman he was designing for (can't remember? Who was she?) had certainly picked up on his attitude, even though all we saw was his snide little comments in confessional.

I felt bad for Angela, because that was a lousy position for her to be put into. Trying to get work done, while your mom's falling to pieces nearby. My mom's a high-strung nut, and I grew up with her running to her room to sit in the dark, waiting for all of us to apologize (whether we'd done anything wrong or not)...but whether or not your mom's a nut, she's still your MOM! And my heart would've been breaking, and I'd have been completely embarrassed at the same time.

Vincent was LOVELY towards Uli's mom. He really won me over.

I love Uli, I love her mom.

I was surprised at the horrible fabrics that the designers (for the most part) chose. Clingy knits, stiff satins, and even sheers (depending upon how they're utilized)...not really the greatest fabrics to use on overweight women. And the styles, my God. Atrocities.

The worst outfits:
-Jeffrey's
-Robert's

Kayne's was 'okay'...I was surprised the judges panned it so much. Though I did agree that it was a bit too matchy-matchy. But it was cute, and seemed to fit well.

Angela's outfit for Laura's mom? I sorta liked it!

Laura's outfit for Jeffrey's mom? Surprisingly dull.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. And what's up with all that makeup? He says something about a shimmering summer style (or somesuch nonsense) and then proceeds to put on foundation, concealer, more foundation, blush, rouge and spackle on the girl's face. Shimmering? More like piled on.

What a jerk Jeffrey is! I'm sorry but you never are disrespectul to another person's Mom. Even if you don't like the person.

Angela's mom was obviously really nervous, and she even said she felt bad because she was limiting Jeffrey's design. She seemed more apprehensive than spiteful when speaking with Tim Gunn. And then Jeffrey was so snotty and condescending, telling her he didn't even want her standing my his station. Anyway, she got the final word when she told the judges that she would walk right by his outfit in a department store. Take that, gross neck boy!

It was pretty funny watching the designers panic about making an outfit for someone who was a stick figure.

I agree with everyone who declared Jeffrey out of line. He's a spoiled, ill-tempered brat. You don't fuck with someone else's mom. You just don't.

I'm sad to see Robert go because he was funny and good-humored and also because he showed some real promise early on. I loved his firtst dress - the little white cocktail dress with a red ribbon sash and metallic embellishments. I thought that was adorable. He's got talent he just couldn't ever quite get his act together.

Vincent...I don't even know what to say about him. I'm just waiting for him to break out the tinfoil hat.

I have to say, I didn't really agree with a lot of the judges' comments. Usually I do, but yesterday's show seemed a bit contrived. I guess I just can't believe that Vincent's was the absolute best. Uli's got to win one of these times. Her garments are always fab-u-lous (finger snaps, girlfriend).

I finally got to watch this episode. The whole show made me feel uncomfortable, especially when the designers had to pick models. How embarrassing that the order was based on how thin the women were? And I don't think it was fair that some of the models were thinner than others (who was it who looked like a model herself... Robert's sister?).

And of course Vincent won; Uli's mom is easier to dress than, say, Angela's. Instead of bringing in the family members of the designers, maybe they just should have brought in plus-sized models who were all generally the same size (and might have had thicker skins). If it were me, standing up there on the runway next to Jeffrey or Uli's moms or Robert's sister would have been bad enough, but then having the judges telling me I looked horrible would be humiliating (I'm talking to you, Heidi!). Ugh! I hope they don't do a show like this again next year.

The strange thing about the episode: Heidi mentions several times how the challenge is to outfit the "average" woman...but these weren't "average" women.

Look at the numbers. Govt statistics say that 30 percent of America's population is obese. That means two to three of the moms would have been overweight, but the majority of the "models" were obese...and some morbidly so. I think it was Robert's model who had difficulty even walking the runway.

I just posted a similar though after the recap, I guess I should have checked here first.

I agree it would be good to have a plus size challenge with working plus-size models, who would be about a size 14 ('plus' models actually start at size 10). The designers would completely freak. They would also have to bring in a judge who works with plus size fashion. I don't think Heidi and the others have a clue about what works on larger size women.

Vincent- "People felt uncomfortable with this challenge because they like to dress beautiful lean models that have perfect 25" waists. You have to be able to compensate and deliver to real women because these are the people that wear your clothes."

Crazy V had a rational thought and was able to articulate it...
bet it never happens again.

OMG!! I totally remember that episode. It was a Gordon Gartrell shirt that Theo wanted so badly. Jeffrey's dress looked exactly like Denise had sewn it. It even had the random assortment of colors and fabrics as well as uneven hems that Theo's shirt had. (How sad is it that I remember the name of the fake designer? I didn't even have to try and Google that particular episode to come up with it. I watch way too much Nick at Nite.)

I am pulling for Michael all the way. He's from Atlanta so that gets him automatic vote from me. This coupled with the fact that he wears a pull-out grill on what is considered one of the more high class reality shows makes me love him even more than I already did.

I know what you're saying, but I interpreted that in this case as:
Average aka "Not of consistently small size. Not a classic model's body. Could be small, could be large, could be anything."

Yes, Vincent's sister and Angela's mother actually had difficulty walking. Kayne and Robert's mothers were plus size, but not HUGE...they seemed to get around just fine, but were more 'typical' mom-types. Uli and Laura's mothers were also typical mom-types, but smaller. And Robert's sister happened to be younger and thinner, with a good figure. It was the luck of the draw. I didn't necessarily have a problem with it, because just getting someone thinner didn't necessarily mean that you did the best job desiging and executing their outfit. It seemed to me that the judges did a decent job in what could have been a difficult challenge to judge.

Vincent's sister just looked so unhappy, so depressed. I felt badly for her. And Angela's mom, it was painful to watch her walk the runway. And the clip that they keep showing of her rubbing and clutching her arms as she walks, it's just uncomfortable to watch. Hey, I'd feel the same way if suddenly thrust into that position of having to wear clothes that were the opposite of what I'm comfy (mentally and physically) wearing in everyday life. I mean, we all (most of us, anyway) know our own bodies & our own 'problem areas' ... and we dress with those in mind. Maybe we don't dress in a way that someone ELSE would dress us, but we dress in ways that make us happy and secure.

If someone suddenly put me into a clingy white knit skirt that I knew would be unflattering, or in a color that I really thought made me look like a colorless blob, and then made me walk down a runway in front of millions of viewers? I'd want to crawl under the nearest rock and die.

I've rewatched this episode a bunch of times now () and it's so funny to me how much Michael Kors and his mother look alike. She sure looks more like his twin sister than his mom.

There's a great clip where Laura shows a photograph of herself heavily pregnant with child 5. And yes, she's still wearing a cocktail dress slashed down to her navel. To top it off, she's in front of a huge self portrait of herself. It's so over the top, it makes me like her more.

The clip also provides further proof that Michael Kors and his mom are clones.

It's with their video clips. Try going to
http://video.bravotv.com/player.html?dlid=26646
If you click on 'Project Runway' in the scroll down list, it should take you to a menu with a list of seasons, going to season 3 will get you to a menu with 'bonus footage' as one of the choices (as well as previews, exit interviews, etc.). The clip is there.

You should also be able to get there by going to the bravo home page and clicking on 'video'

Good luck. The ridiculous amount of time I've wasted looking at the website has made me realize how addicted I am to Project Runway. I'm developing a crush on Rucker after reading his blog.

Okay while I agree Jeffrey was way out of line, I'm thinking when they met with Michael Kors and his mom, Angela told her mom that Jeffrey was an ass and I thought from the beginning that she went in their with a chip on her shoulder. I also think that when Angela encouraged her mom to really tell the judges what she thought...it really made me think that no matter what he would have designed, she would have hated it and he knew it. That's why he made it so hideous looking.

Laura's mom and her reaction to the pregnancy was hilarious...can you say pregnant pause?

I liked Michael's dress better than Vincent's. Vincent's looked like something a novice like me would make from a pattern that was never fitted. Michael's dress was great sans the belt.

I just don't think that this makes any sense. Even if Angela's mom told the judges that she didn't like the outfit (whatever it was) that Jeffrey had made, he could still have won the JUDGES approval if the outfit was terrific, suited Angela's mom, and was well made. I have to say that even if what Jeffey made was fantastic, if she didn't like it, it would cloud their judgment. Just like my sister tells her kids it's spice cake, they will eat it. If she tells them that it is carrot cake...no way will they eat it. Now I've had to swear my kids to secrecy who love carrot cake that they never ever tell their cousins that it has carrots in it.

Tune in next week...for more unscripted, yet vaguely scripted feeling hilarity.

I'm not doubting that it could cloud their judgement, but his designing a truly hideous and completely unflattering outfit certainly wasn't going to win him any fans from the judges either! At least if he had designed something clever, flattering, attractive, well-sewn he'd have gotten credit for that, even if Angela's mom hated it.

And if your sister threw down a lump of cold mashed potatoes and claimed that it was spice cake, I assume she'd get an even stronger adverse reaction from her kids than if she presented them with a nice looking cake that they'd have mistaken for spice if not told that it was carrot. Hey, I've got picky eaters at home, too! I just don't think that that comparison works here. IMO.

Anyway...can't wait for tonight's show!

The Darlene/Jeffrey dress was a complete disaster. I completely Tim Gunned all over that mess "I don't get it." Plus I loathe assymetry. I'm ok with someone else wearing it, but I could never fathom donning a one shouldered dress or anything else that just screams "I veer to the left!"
